The music is good, the service is super friendly, there is so much to take in with the decor and the bar, the food is delicious and the prices are great! Came back a year later and still doesn't disappoint. This place is our go to burger place. Prices are super reasonable and the food is delicious! The waiter was very attentive and the place was even kid friendly with the high chairs. We were so happy until a few hours later we all ended up with food poisoning. My wife has told me about this place since her JMU days. We stopped by recently to check them out. I had the chicken and waffles, tater tots, chicken salad, and sticky nugs. Like other reviews have said, this is the perfect college town place. Alcohol, and cheap food. I love the prices and portion sizes. Chicken and waffles were good, tater tots are always good. Knowing this place is part of a chain, I was skeptical when a JMU grad said come here for burgers. Parking can be a chore since that part of Harrisonburg downtown has monopolized paid parking, but it's right next door and just $/hr! The parking app sucks! Walk-in side BJ's and I felt like I was home. Truly your neighborhood hole in the wall bar with $3 PBR draft and full bar with happy hour specials. I was floored by how good the bar food was and our waitress was delightful. Parents, this should be your hang out when visiting your DD and it's technically walkable from Villages. Stopped by Billy Jacks on the way through on a road trip and it did not disappoint. Their fries are my favorite type as they are thin and super crispy with seasoning. I ordered the sliders (the mac and cheese one and the chicken one) and they were very good also. It was the perfect amount of food for us at the time. Traveling through Virginia on our way to Tennessee and upon reading Yelp reviews for Billy Jack's we decided to give it a try. It was a Friday night over the summer, the bar/restaurant was alive, as was the town. My husband, (13yo) daughter & I were able to get a table and decided to share the sticky nuggs (garlic parm), regular wings (stinky sweet chili) and an order of tots. All three were delicious (and we are picky wing people!!) - let's just say... I would venture to guess that they could fry just about anything & it would be delicious!! Fry flavors and crispiness were perfection! I enjoyed a local IPA with our food and we finished with the specialty donut (Nutella, banana & nuts) as well as the Psycho Girl Scout Donut... highly recommend finishing dinner with one of these sweet treats! I have to say, this was the coolest place I've been to in a while, and yes I am a boring person. My daughter went to school in this town and had frequented this place often. It was my first time here. The place isn't very big. The service was awesome. Semi loud in the joint. Lots of locals, which you know its good then. The server took the time to explain everything to us newbies. The wife and daughter got the sliders. I got the chicken sandwich. If you go here and don't order sticky nuggs...what was the point of going?? I LOVE their Thai sweet chili sauce. Cheap food, cheap drinks (even cheaper during happy hour!!) and a nice vibe. I would say it's a little bit of a dive bar, but I love dive bars. Their service is always great, everyone's so nice. They can get pretty busy, but will bring drinks and food out as quickly as they can. Brunch: Their Bloody Mary's are pretty good! They even infuse their vodka with jalapeños. The breakfast burrito is nice and you can never go wrong with ordering it. Food/Drinks: Their vodka lemonades are good and SO cheap during happy hour. You can't beat the prices. The first time we were in Harrisonburg we couldn't get in. The line was too long and we didn't feel like waiting. We got in this time and we love the casual atmosphere. Loved it! We dropped off our niece at JMU and asked someone where to go for dinner. Without hesitation they said Billy Jacks and you have to have the Nuggs! When a local has that much enthusiasm on their recommendation, you listen. Well it is definitely not for the calorie counters or cholesterol watchers. Just go ahead and use your cheat day! The atmosphere is so great and the vibe of the place was just amazing but then the food finally came out. The burgers were dry and tasteless and the fries were dripping oil. The Mac'n cheese in the burger was cold when it came out... The service was ok but nothing to write home about. The only things that we enjoyed were the fried Mac'n cheese but that's kind of hard to ruin. The food was just so bad that we didn't even finish our meal and just paid. Please do yourself a favor and put yourself on the waitlist for Billy Jacks! And don't get confused by its next door neighbor with a similar name (which is also great but just different!) I really thought that they were overrating this place in the reviews but boy was I wrong. We put our name down and was wary because the hostess said it'd be a 75 min wait. But we walked over to a brewery, grabbed a few drinks and low and behold, in about 40-45 minutes, the table was ready. The Sticky Nugs are just AMAZING. No wonder every college kid walking down has a Sticky Nuggs Box in their hand! They're a 5/5 for sure. Now the Greg Brady Sliders was slightly underwhelming but can you blame a simple slider when the deal is so good? The onion rings were great as well. I loved Billy Jack's went here twice!! The atmosphere is cool, the vibe and ppl are very chill. I came here once during the happy hour time frame and again during the 10:30 pm hour. The customer service was good. I loved the layout because at the end of the last table/bar when you turn they have a Take Out area and the kitchen. It's like a cool peek-a-boo wwwwwwindow type thing. It's decorated pretty cool never seen any bar like it. The Food we got were the Shrimp boxes , burgers the first go they put the shrimp in such cool packaging and you get a lot packed in the sauces are soo good. I got garlic herb Parmesan (not like Buffalo Wild Wings sauce color) it's literally like garlic butter the burgers had great flavors and great patty to bread ratio. The 2nd go during a late night stroll we got the wings fried in pork fat!! (Omg) and sticky Nuggs (bbq bacon cheddar sauce pictured) and plain . I'm a fan of this place!! First off, I love the decor and atmosphere. It's a small, casual place and that is absolutely over decorated in just right jumbled way. Since it's officially the Christmas season, there are strands of colorful lights, walls covered with wrapping paper and stuffed just crammed in every nook and cranny. Love it! Second, there's free parking around the back. Woot! Third, and most importantly, the food is great! My daughter loved her macaroni and cheese. My mom and Mr. M loved their burgers. And my redneck nachos were bomb! For the nachos, you get your choice of having it built in house made chips, fries or tots. Our waitress recommended the tots and I was very pleased with the final product! These things had PLENTY of cheese, some delicious sauce drizzled on top and the most perfect BBQ pork I've ever had! It had the best flavor! It wasn't overly sweet and it wasn't overly tangy with vinegar. Instead, it had this beautiful balance and some spices I couldn't quite place.
