I just moved here so definitely wanted to tryout Ruby's arcade. I asked to be seated on the patio and they didn't mind at all, the vibes were great, service was fast and food was amazing, I loved the pizza!! Would recommend as something fun to do in the Harrisonburg area with family or even as a date night like my husband and I did. read more

It has been a few years since I came to Ruby's and sad to say the owners have allowed this place to get completely run down. A $5 cover charge for unlimited games is fine until you find that 3 out of the 4 bowling lanes are out of commission, only one of the 2 skee ball machines is operational, half the video games do not function, and when you play foosball the rod holding the players falls out if you pull too hard because the bumpers are missing. My daughter and I had to fix the large Connect 4 game in order to play the game. It is a shame what has happened to this place. Even the shuffleboard was in such disrepair that you couldn't even play a decent game. The pizza was good though so that was a positive. The service was fine and everyone was friendly and apologized for all the games being broken. read more

The place was a fun environment. We came for bingo as a family and my 12 year old won the $100, but then they told him he could only get the $100 if he got a strike. Well let's be real $100 is like a million to a 12 year old. He didn't get a strike. He was devastated because they said prior to the game it was a fast pace $100 winners game. Crazy when your 12 year old asks why adults lie? I had to explain he was tricked and that he did win, and reward him for not crying over a shitty situation. To be an arcade would have been enough. One fee, unlimited play for the day. But then there's duckpin bowling (four lanes and usually a waitlist). But hold on, there's woodfried pizza and barbecue on the menu. That's right. No cheap, pulled from the freezer bar food here (and yes, they also have a bar). This is a level of quality you come here just to eat. Or just play games. But my time in the 'Burg was short so I did both. They have newer, air hockey, skee ball, and ping pong but what caught my attention were the old school games. Galaga, Pac Man, even Street Fighter. My heart was full and soon so was my stomach. I did a barbecue sandwich with fries and let me say, as someone who has grown up in the Deep South, that que was impressive! Also, just the right size as I didn't even have room for dessert. 2nd time here. Both times around lunch hour. Place was empty, so you wonder how good can it be? It's good! And it's very fun! If you eat lunch there, all the games are free until 3pm. Bar food menu with brick oven pizzas too. Food is good. Not great, but not bad. We all were happy with our choices. Mozzarella sticks are tremendous and delicious. I had the crab dip, while very tasty they have nerve charging $10 for such a small portion. My kids said chicken fingers were good. We come here more for the entertainment than the meal. I love the retro video game machine, which is always free. Games like pool, ping pong and bowling are normally charged per hour, but for lunch free with your meal until 3pm. So we took advantage and had lots of fun and laughs. I appreciate the good local beer selection. Our waitress was very nice, but as also the bartender and only one answering the phone, not very accessible. I would imagine evenings here getting a little crazy with JMU nearby, but we only come during day on purpose traveling with our girls 11, 13 & 16. This place is an awesome place for pool, mini bowling, ping-pong (but they seriously need new paddles--bring your own if you have them), shuffleboard, darts, and a lot of other game. It's a great place for kids and adults. For the grown ups, they serve alcohol. Don't get food here. Every time we have ordered pizza, something went wrong. This last time they burnt 2 out of 3 pizzas yet somehow managed to serve them cold. How? Get beer or cider here, their mixed drinks are just bad. Last year they were much better. I'm not sure what happened. I have ordered several mixed drinks. Most I couldn't even drink. I also always order top shelf whatever and always always served rail. What I love the most though is this is a great place to eat with kids. Great place to go when it was open, good food, great staff, I was a customer and then became an employee because I loved it so much. The employees deal with a lot of awful and crappy entitled people who end up leaving petty reviews, one sided narratives, and inflammatory accusations, coupled with denial of their accountability for their actions. I've never had a yelp, because of hearing things like this and now going back and reading these reviews it's laughable. Thank you to all of my old regulars! Out friend brought us here when we were visiting Harrisonburg. The staff here was very friendly. It's a unique place unlike anything we have in my area. The bowling balls are small and fit in the palm of your hand. I think we had three beers, two shots & an hour of bowling for 5 for about $30. They also had pool, board games, shuffleboard, and ping pong. I would recommend this place day or night. read more

This place is really cool, honestly. It seems like everywhere else in this town is tiny and no where to chill with peeps and it was nice to be able to roam and sprawl out without having bodies wall to wall (sorry BJ's and JB's-you guys are tiny). We went here really to just chill and bowl and ended up getting drinks, bowling and eating. I got the Dark and Stormy and the Southern Belle to drink and an NC Pulled Pork sandwich and shoestring fries. The drinks were strong, and the NC BBQ sauce was actually very flavorful and had a zing to it. Bowling was fun and generally-I really like this place. I want to go back and try some of their pizza. Had a horrible experience last night involving an extremely rude bouncer. Screamed at me to leave 20 mins before closing when i was there to celebrate my sisters 21st birthday. Would not let me use the restroom before i left. Sorry i wasn't standing around being boring and that led to me missing out on valuable time with my sister. I was consuming water and had 1 shot. The nerve to kick me out because I'm dancing and having fun verses standing and talking. what a disappointment. never even got the chance to try any food. I had a negative experience this weekend at rubys..I came to visit my friends at JMU and wanted to bowl at the arcade. The staff was extremely rude to my friends and I. We couldn't bowl because there was some apparent line nobody told us about, we paid $5 each for absolutely nothing and couldn't play any of the games it seemed like all a scam. The bartender was also rude to my friend about tipping! I've had a good experience in the past when I was a student here so I'm really disappointed. read more

We waited outside for 20 minutes. Staff looked at us outside the door to the arcade with an entire line of people and completely ignored us. We made hand signals to them and they made shrugged their hands at us. All of us just wanted to know what was happening, and if we were at the wrong door. This went on for another 30 minutes, and they started mocking us. Awful establishment. If you have a line of consumers confused, you should make it apparent what is happening and let them know they were in a line that was not accessible to the bar. The staff are rude. read more

They also have duck pin bowling, but the lanes are a little run down and don't always function correctly. No fee to enter, as long as you are eating/drinking. I stopped for lunch with my road trip buddies and for $10 we got to see the AMAZING art all over the walls, eat at their buffet, and play FREE bowling, ping pong, and pool until 3 pm. What could be better than delicious pizza, friendly service, and free games to play while you wait?? My only critique is how LOUD it was here when we were here--a weekday at lunch time. I know there was a lot of kids here and obviously the bowling makes it loud, I just wish there was some type of sound barrier or something. We sat near the back of the restaurant by the windows so that helped, but I can't imagine sitting anywhere else. It was too loud. However, the pizza definitely made up for it! Found this place on here while staying in Stanardsville at a cabin with our boys, ages 13 and 18. Pizza buffet was ok. Games were fun. A few things that were good: 1. Staff was very friendly and helpful. 2. The place was clean and not crowded. Things that could be better: 1. I'd like to be able to order off the menu even during buffet. It wasn't allowed. 2. One price for unlimited games. It's $12 an hour for pool, $10 an hour for ping pong, $20/hr for bowling etc. it would be easier on the staff and patrons to have one price fits all. I don't know how I've never been here before. I love Ruby's itself, nice little stage and cozy feel on the weekend. Though the bar here seems a bit small, they make up for that with the crazy amount of games on deck: pool, ping pong, bowling, card and board games, etc. The food isn't bad either, although nothing noteworthy. This used to be the coolest place in town, but after being taken over by new management it's completely gone to shit. I've been personally ripped off, insulted, and lied to by three separate employees on three separate occasions. I even saw a drug deal take place there once, and the bouncer asked me to leave simply for seeing it.
