2nd time here. Both times around lunch hour. Place was empty, so you wonder how good can it be? It's good! And it's very fun! If you eat lunch there, all the games are free until 3pm. Bar food menu with brick oven pizzas too. Food is good. Not great, but not bad. We all were happy with our choices. Mozzarella sticks are tremendous and delicious. I had the crab dip, while very tasty they have nerve charging $10 for such a small portion. My kids said chicken fingers were good. We come here more for the entertainment than the meal. I love the retro video game machine, which is always free. Games like pool, ping pong and bowling are normally charged per hour, but for lunch free with your meal until 3pm. So we took advantage and had lots of fun and laughs. I appreciate the good local beer selection. Our waitress was very nice, but as also the bartender and only one answering the phone, not very accessible. I would imagine evenings here getting a little crazy with JMU nearby, but we only come during day on purpose traveling with our girls 11, 13 & 16. It's a great place to kill a few hours, and the next time we vacation in area will definitely be back.

Super fun bar to go to! The line takes forever but once you're in there, you will feel like a kid again!! Bowling, air hockey, pool, and other games you can play. I got food there for the first time and, maybe it was just cause I was drunk, but it was great!!

Duckpin bowling.

I discovered Ruby's because a friend hosted her tween daughter's birthday party here. What a neat place! I loved the retro hipster vibe. What I love the most though is this is a great place to eat with kids. They can play arcade games until it's time to eat and when they're done, which allows parents to eat in peace for the most part.

The pizza was just ok. The drinks were good and the games and ambiance was outstanding. A great fun place to hang out.

Family fun time bowling :)

Food was good but very over priced and the portions were small. Not wait staff to handle the dining room.

I heard great things about this place and was very enthusiastic to visit...however, though the food…read morewas pretty solid the service was quite lacking. I have found the front staff and the wait staff to be lacking in their consideration towards restaurant guests. It seems that they are picking and choosing whom they choose to grant a great experience to. Service: The front staff and waitress we had carried an air of attitude when dealing with me and my family. It seemed like they were not keen to accommodate a few of our basic requests which essentially boiled down to laziness. To be honest, they are very petty when it comes to getting a table on their rooftop...when my family (of 5) came in, they told us it was first come first serve and sat us inside. Another family came in with 3-4 adults and 2 kids after we were seated, to which they promptly moved them outside even though they were inside as well when a spot opened up. I'm not truly understanding the mentality of service here and frankly thought for a nice establishment there would be better decorum and attitude towards guests. Food: overall pretty good. I found the food and drink to be solid. In summary, the food is good here but doesn't surpass the service we received.

I came here during a family graduation. This is at a newer hotel property. What didn't make sense…read moreis the side of the building they decided have it's view overlooking Harrisonburg. Aside from that, the food was quite good. It's more small plates and tapas. Anything with bread and butter here is delicious. Each larger plate I tried was equally unique and tasty. The kitchen knows what they're doing. Farm to table. I would revisit. I recommend having a reservation.

We were visiting Harrisonburg for the weekend and after looking on Yelp for a good place to have…read moredinner on a Saturday night, we decided on Capital Ale House. Lots of prom kids and college students filled the place. We were quickly seated in a nice booth and Nate our server helped us with some stout beers. We had a milk stout and a caramel macchiato stout the latter of which was the best. Looking at the menu I have to say it was not your standard ale house fair. It was definitely "elevated" in this regard. We asked to split a 2 soft shell entree with broccolini & seasoned mash, a bowl of crab bisque and a pierogi sampler. We also asked for an extra plate, to which Nate said he would take care of it. When the food arrived it was divided perfectly. Nate had split the bowl of soup into 2 small bowls and he divided the entree and sides onto 2 plates. The soft shell crabs were HUGE, the largest I had ever seen, and crisply fried to perfection. The sides were equally exquisite in their flavor and preparation. The crab bisque was loaded with fresh lump crabmeat and perfectly seasoned. The pirogies were also excellent in flavor and presentation. It was the most satisfying meal I'd had in a while (could be because I was craving soft shells) Needless to say we were very happy with the food in every way and were stuffed as we asked for the check. Nate/Nathaniel really made the experience as he was highly attentive, though caring for many tables, and was quick to take care of our every need. The place was really rocking with customers and everyone there was having a great time. We'll definitely be back and let everyone we know what a top notch establishment Capital Ale House in Harrisonburg is.

Dinner for us this evening was a real treat. Appetizer was shrimp and spinach dip with crab bisque…read moreas an addition. Dip was good but the bisque was fabulous! My daughter chose shrimp tacos while I went with fish tacos. Both were a nice variation with a hint of cold slaw and a nice late bite spice. Like the atmosphere and location.
