Prob more 3.5 stars but hubs loves these classic, small town diners (cheap and simple), so extra bump. Broadway is a cute town, bustling with a farmer's market Saturday morn when we were there. We also checked out the fun nursery nearby with a produce corner - picked up peaches, sweet corn & watermelon - ahhhh, the foods of summer. Anyhoo, back to Gobblers Grill. Restaurant is quite spacious, tables, booths and bar seating. We had just eaten fresh baked pastries from a road-side stand, so weren't super hungry. Ordered full-size salad and taco salad for hubs. Food came out in 3min (awesome!) No complaints (my salad could have less cheese but hey, more for the taco). New to the area. Not sure why so many locals rave about this place. How can a place mess up something as simple as nachos- literally a pile of tortilla chips with shredded cheddar cheese thrown on top and put in the oven long enough to melt the cheese. The sour cream came in a tube and the salsa was frozen in a condiment cup. Fries were cold and extra greasy. Crappy service. Table was sticky. First thing you see when you walk in is some dude, I'm assuming the owner, sitting at a table like some mafia boss that uses the place to launder his ill gotten gain- lounging at the table with papers, a computer, and dirty dishes around. The servers paid more attention to his needs than the patrons. All I can say is, either the locals lack tastebuds or we stopped at an extremely abnormal poor service evening. I come to the area a lot and I have to admit- I am ALWAYS worried about where I'll have to eat when I'm here. The takeout menu is pretty full of variety and the restaurant itself was PACKED last night! Good for them for keeping such great business during COVID-19! We ended up ordering for pick up due to how busy they were. Fortunately- Gobbler Grill impressed last night! My boyfriend was happy with his Reuben and bacon cheese fries as a side ($2 upcharge) and had leftovers. I had a Cajun shrimp salad and Buffalo wings. Those wings are HUGE! Not the biggest fan of the Buffalo sauce tho- it was a little watered down. Try another sauce. My salad was pretty good; if you don't really love raw onions I would ask them to leave them off, it's like I asked for extra raw onions....ew. The Italian vinaigrette was basically just oil- get another dressing for sure. Didn't feel too good eating a salad covered in oil. Had a To Go Order and when we walked in to get it the first thing I saw was a man (the owner?) sitting at a table in the front of the bar, and the table was COVERED in stuff. Well, if you're seeing a review from me the place was either really good or really bad. Let's try to turn this into an opportunity to strengthen their operations. I don't live in Broadway but I was visiting my daughter who just had a baby and was craving some type of boneless chicken morsel. We both have had Gobbler Grill before and know they "usually" have reliable chicken cylinders. When I placed my order for a large stubbs and nubbs (the origin of this nomenclature is unknown) with buffalo sauce, salmon salad- hold the onion, and cheese sticks, I relied on the knowledge that at least two of the items are fried and it is really hard to mess up fried cuisine. But henceforth, it is possible. Suffice it to say, only the cheese sticks (the lowest level of importance in my opinion) were as described and ordered. Trigger alert...the salad description said there was shredded cheese. Did I just say cheese on a salmon salad? I did, and for the record I was giving it a chance. The difference between what I expected and received was as wide as Victoria Lake (can you hear Sade singing in the background). Imagine this, a hot piece of salmon that was as hard as a hockey puck, on top of a molten mountain of cheese that had melted and congealed as if it had become one with the 10 pieces of brown, wilted, aged lettuce. The lettuce that was there reminded me of the discard pile that is given to hogs or free-range chickens at mealtime. Not humans. It was at this moment I realized that cheese, does in fact, NEVER belong with fish. I know, I know what you're thinking. As a home chef I know these mythical witchcraft rules but as I said, I was giving it a chance. Nevermore, nevermore. The Raven was right! Last incongruence and I will move on as I am sure anyone who is reading this wonders when that is going to happen. My closing thought on the pile of steaming lettuce lava is that never, have I ever, been given salmon on a salad with the shiny, scaled skin beneath it. I think someone in the kitchen was practicing for comedy hour and decided this would be good material for their turn on the microphone. Maybe this is why the lady who took the order said they were discontinuing that item on the menu. They need to delete, backspace, erase, undo, and clear this item from over leaving their kitchen again. Oh, and remember I said hold the onions? Do I even need to say it? Yes, there were onions on it. On to the next scab from my GG wound. Buffalo sauce is a fairly common, pedestrian, recognizable, obvious slathering paste. We all know what it looks like, smells like, tastes like and we pick it for that very reason. Upon arrival to the structure, I noticed a sign that instructed patrons to check their take-out orders for accuracy and completeness. So, as a good samaritan, I followed the instructions. The onion situation mentioned above was noted and dismissed. Upon opening the hot, steamy container of S & N's, the indisputable aroma of another every day, recognizable, obvious substance known on Earth as BBQ sauce, hit my olfactory nerve instantly. This would not be dismissed. So, I looked at the nice lady and said that is "BBQ sauce but I ordered buffalo." The idealogue quickly turned the container around and stuck her nasal passages overhead and said with insistent righteousness "oh no, that is buffalo...I don't like spicey and I can smell the spiciness." I was contemplating how I, as an infrequent diner, would be able to dismantle her credo. Impossible. I paused, took a breath, reflected on all the times I had indulged in both types of liquids on my chicken barrels, and made the incorrect and naïve assumption that my loss of taste and smell from 3 rounds of COVID had obviously emerged. I had to accept that I was wrong. I put my invisible tail between my legs and assumed my questioning of the sauce was not only an insult, but also uncalled for. I squared up like a compliant imbecile (even left a tip for the wizard of sauce) and took the heaping pile of sauced solids back to my daughter's house with excitement knowing her craving would be sated. At that point, I was super happy because I swiped a cheese stick from the container on the ride back and enjoyed the savor of a decently fried hunk of cheese. Upon entering the domicile, I quickly arranged the containers on the couch next to my daughter who had her 1-week old infant suckling on her own version of a chicken tender, gave her a fork and napkin to catch the slurry, and told her to dig in. My daughter took the fork and pierced a chunk. The chicken bolus hit her mouth and then she smiled. Her next words were like hearing Santa's sleigh as a kid when your parents hoodwink you into believing he's real. Well, he's not and neither was the so called "buffalo sauce." She looked at me and spewed veriloquent words..."this is BBQ sauce." Done. read more

I purchased 2 gift certificates from a promotion they were running some time back. Decided to go Saturday evening for a meal and while there we realized the certificates had expired on September 1st. Which it was only like 2weeks late. Anyway she ask the owner and he refused to honor them. The point is we had already paid him for them in advance but that doesn't seem to matter. That is hell of a way to do business in my opinion. If they need the money that bad they are in for a rough road to stay afloat. Stopped in for a late lunch so not very busy. We were greeted and seared promptly. Jasmine was our server and told us about the specials. While we waited I observed how diligently Jasmine was cleaning the empty tables. It was so impressive to see the pride she took cleaning all areas of the table and chairs including the legs and base of the table. Her service was excellent. The mural on the wall was unique. We went to the Gobbler Grill for the first and probably the last time. I ordered the special which was BBQ beef sandwich and fries. The beef was brisket and started out as tender. Very shortly the beef became tougher and drier. I used some of the ridiculously sweet BBQ sauce, no help. It was watery thin and pretty much just dripped into the basket. Was looking for a sit-down restaurant while driving through the area. Not a lot of options, especially on a Sunday evening. This place had a few good reviews so we took the chance. Only a few people were there, so we were seated immediately on entering and the waitress took our drink orders as she handed us some menus. Food wasn't fancy, but we all enjoyed different things. My family tried the Gobbler Grill tonight for the first time after hearing several great reviews and recommendations from others. We were at the restaurant for a little over an hour and it was very busy the entire time, which is nice for a small town business. The service was not stellar, but it was adequate considering the crowd. We tried two different hamburgers and the quesadilla and all were excellently prepared. The hamburger with an order of fries is definitely enough to fill up anybody. The fries were nicely prepared with a blend of house seasonings. The only negative comments are that the noise inside was a bit loud, but that is a nice problem to have for the business and the lighting is a bit too bright. I would recommend this to others and we will definitely eat here again soon. read more

DINER BEWARE!!! The owner of this restaurant "upcharges" for sides above and beyond the price on the menu. I chose a side that cost less money than the side that was supposed to come with my meal. Rather than charge me the price on the menu he charged me more than for getting an alternate side and no one informed me of it until I recieved the check and noticed the discrepancy. The service and food was really good! One problem was that the children's Mac and cheese was at lava stage for my grandson. They did warn us but still way too hot to set in front of at 5 year old. The children's menu was excellent. It actually had many of the children's favorite dishes. I had a salad and ribeye steak. It was simple and delicious. They cooked it to exactly how I ordered. I wish they had a bottle of Heinz 57. My daughter-in-law had a shrimp and linguine dish, she ordered it before and recommends it. The portions were large and well worth the price. Ok This the third restaurant at this location in as many years. That being said..this place is relatively new. I thought I would give it a try even though the last restaurant here was not great. The atmosphere was casual and definitely local and country homey. the service was ok with tolerable wait time. My wife ordered the Reuben sandwich which she liked and couldn't finish because she got full. I tasted it. It was good. I ordered the cheese steak deluxe sub. I thought the bun was a hotdog bun, not very big. But it was pretty good just could have been 30% larger. Price wise it was reasonable. Staff friendly enough. Surprised no one has reviewed this place yet. Gobbler Grill is just what Broadway has needed: a friendly restaurant with reasonably priced good food. We arrived last night for dinner. The place was very busy which was fine. We were not acknowledged for quite a bit. When we finally got seated a waiter threw the menu back and then never returned. We then were waited on by another waiter who was very attentive. We were half way through our dinner when the check arrived. Never asked if we wanted a refill on drinks or desert.
