We came for dinner, and were served by Molly. We've been coming here few times a year for the past 12 years. The experience usually great, which is why we keep coming back, and the menu is always fun! The service started great and the food came looking fantastic as usual, until I found a long hair in my bowl. Molly was very apologetic once we showed her the hair and she took it inside to show the kitchen. I told her I don't want another bowl , as I didn't want the food to go to waste and didn't have time to wait for a new one. Here is were the service turned south; - Molly didn't come back to check on us or fill the water cups - We didn't get a discount of any kind in the check, as you would normally expect! - I expected the chef or the manager on duty to come out and apologize, but that didn't happen. - Finally, Molly brought our check when we finished eating and didn't ask if we are interested in desserts, as typically the case! Been here a couple times and it's a solid place for brunch. Outside patio is super cute. The Benedict with salmon was cooked perfectly and so good, I love a good benny. The sweet potato pancakes tho were disappointing, it didn't have a lot of sweet potato flavor or much flavor/sweetness to it. The citrus butter just tasted like regular butter. Met up with college kiddos after big JMU Hween weekend for brunch at Clem's. Eclectic decor, fun college vibe but the menu was surprisingly upscale-ish. I really like this place. My first attempt a few years ago was thwarted by covid. I was pleasantly surprised they have a nice Saturday brunch menu that starts at 10. We arrived right after 10 on a nice Saturday morning and were promptly sat. The place has a good open vibe and is nicely decorated. Very nice bar set up. I got the kimchi fried rice (bad choice for this kind of place I know) and it was a mess, tofu was "marinated" in soy sauce, and was cold and raw, fried rice was tasteless and had peas in it for some reason, and the mushrooms were inedible due to how salty they were, fried egg was waaay undercooked. Bruschetta wasn't really bruschetta, and the tomatoes were so cold they hurt my teeth, the bread was un-toasted and there was a bunch of cheese under it for some reason. Bartender was immediately attentive, though even though the place was nearly empty there were occasional times when service took too long. I did partake in the crab dip appetizer which was very good. I had my Bold Rock which is my favorite "beer" cider so I was content. They had a variety of cocktails which my friend liked. As an event planner I highly value professional communication and response time so I was very disappointed when I received a very short and dismissive response from their event staff/manager. I do not even know who I was talking to because they did not even use a proper greeting or signature. I even sent a follow up email stating these issues but received no response. We had an excellent early lunch at Clementine's the day after Christmas. This was our second visit - the first was a few years ago to see the TR3 show but this was our first time trying the food.
