Always an awesome experience when we are at Massanutten! I wanted to provide an update in that this location does not sell liquor or hard spirits anymore. I recall that last year I was able to get a screwball and Diet Coke, which was really yummy but this year I ended up with a green bold rock cider. I saw that they predominantly sell cans of wine, cans of beer and the occasional mimosa or bloody Mary, but no options for bar drinks or otherwise liquor options. They still offer some easy to grab snack snacks like Cheetos and Doritos The fire pit is still roasting and warm, and I will always continue to stop here in the future during our days on the slope I noticed that at the bottom towards the entrance of the slopes they have a new yacht pagoda like bar that they recommended for us to grab any cocktails :) read more

I am incredibly disappointed by the Massanutten snow tubing experience. We paid $48/person to tube for only 1.5 hours. The first time up the mountain, they let us tie 3 tubes together. We went right back up, but then the disrespectful and sassy manager said now only 2 tubes together. Then, we went up for one more consecutive run, and he said only 1 tube!!! All within the course of 20 minutes... talk about a power trip. We explained to him how we were not comfortable going down alone and he told us to get over it. I then refused to go alone, so he made me walk down the treacherous and icy mountain.... Instead of calling for a snow mobile to come get me or pausing the lift to let me walk down the ramp. I was forced to walk down this huge mountain and almost fell several times while being stared at by all the other customers. This was humiliating. The only good part of the experience was that they gave us a full refund since they were ashamed of his behavior. The food and drinks at the lodge are crazy expensive and not good. A $15 breakfast burrito with low quality ingredients? No thank you. Very commercialized lodge. Not a nice ambiance. I would definitely not recommend. read more

I will tell you, I love a mini vacay.,, and here's the good, the bad, and the ugly... First of all, the drive for me is about 3 hours. Not too bad, all things considered. And it's a nice drive. The area itself is also nice. It's quiet and pleasant. Until you get to the pool. Then it's loud and full of unsupervised kids. Ugh. The hours aren't great, either. It seems like the pools close super early. Why?!!! The restaurants are decent but again for a resort, the hours are just not open late enough. Lastly, the high pressure sales tour is just ridiculous. It was almost enough to make me not want to come back. Stacy and Todd are horrible, worst salespeople ever. They're just rude and unprofessional. Except for them, the trip was good. read more

Deeply Disappointing Experience with Guest Services I've been a season pass holder at Massanutten Ski Resort and have always enjoyed the resort with many positive interactions with different staff, but our recent experience left me genuinely disappointed. When we attempted to redeem an unused buddy pass back to my account, the staff member assisting us -- Jamila Blanchard -- was unexpectedly rude, unhelpful, and dismissive throughout the interaction. Instead of providing guidance or support, she spoke in a disrespectful tone and treated us in a way that felt inconsistent with how other staff had previously interacted with us. When my wife asked to speak to her supervisor to remedy the situation, she was even pointing and making ridiculing gestures to her face behind him. What should have been a simple, routine request turned into an uncomfortable and frustrating encounter that questioned her motives. The interaction left me wondering if she was stereotyping us and was discriminatory and a racist. As a loyal pass holder, who has spent over $2,000 over the last 12 months with my family there with lift passes, dining and ski lessons, I expect professionalism and fairness, and this experience fell far short of that standard. Massanutten is a great resort, but interactions like this undermine the overall guest experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures all staff uphold the level of respect and service that visitors deserve. read more

I gave one star for the wonderful resort, a lot of activities to do. The biggest let down on me is the strong smell of marijuana inside the building. On the door there is a sign of no smoking and no pets allowed. Not everybody smoked or smoked weed. There are housekeeping collecting trash but I think their ignoring it. I wish they have a place for smoker and non smokers. read more

We came here for our kids - we liked that kids under 7 are free and there are 3 magic carpets for the kids. So we were disappointed when we arrived to found one magic carpet was closed and the other two magic carpets were only available for kids taking lessons. On top of that, there are no group lessons for kids under age 7, and I wasn't willing to pay $150 for a private lesson. So I had to take my 3 and 5 year olds in the chair lift their first time ever asking. The easiest green was very long so that it took my very frustrated 3 year old 2 hours to complete it. Plus, the easiest green gets steep at the end so my kids basically cried the last bit down. Massanutten has reasonably priced lift tickets but unfortunately this sad magic carpet arrangement has my kids declaring they never want to go skiing again. :( read more

NOT A FAMILY RESORT. Walked into room as a single mom with her 4 year old daughter as I thought it would be safe. Instead Later after midnight when I tapped on neighbors door and asked nicely for them to keep it down and I was greeted with a puff of weed all over me. I walked back to my room and had 2 women kick my door in, break our lock. Called security and police, and guess what...they wanted me to pack all my stuff up, pack it up in my car, wake my daughter up, put her in her car seat, then unload her and drag all my stuff into another room at 130 in morning all without a security escort? While the women who kicked my door in got to stay warm and continue to party the rest of the night. Let me not forget that some other random guest came out and told security and police that after the incident, she heard people thru her wall laughing and making comments that she was going to kill me after everything appeared calm again. THEN the lock that was kicked out wasn't even attempted to be fixed til 10am next day. read more

This was my first time ever skiing and visiting Massanutten, I was really pleased. Let's start by the lodging which we got a two modern rooms with half kitchen and it was 5 of us and plenty of room . The ski resort as a first time was nice. I signed up for the beginner ski lesson which costed about $115 included all the ski gears. Tall Jon was our instructor and I must say he was great and had a lot of patience!! Now let's complain about the food at the ski resort that to me was a pit pricey and really had no flavor! I would assume after skiing for many hours people would be hungry and would want real food? Will I go back? Definitely! I would love to check it out during spring/summer for other activities such as kayaking, zip lining and horseback riding. read more

They've done a lot of updates to the lodge at Massanutten, these updates were much needed. I'm not the worlds biggest skier or snowboarder, but I can drink hot chocolate like nobody's business. They've updated the lodge in many ways, paint, carpet, sound system, seating, heat...All things that are very important for those waiting for friends and family to return from the slopes. Last winter my kids had a great time snowboarding, but waiting around in the lodge for them was not fun- not at all. It needed to be painted, the concessions were poor quality and there wasn't even a fire in the fireplace or outside in the propane fire pits. But this year there was a big difference. All the fire pits were blazing, it looked like new chairs and tables inside and out were procured and it looks like they just decided to finally put some money into the lodge. It was needed. I actually got a chance to see the ski patrol area as well because my son broke his wrist while snowboarding, and that even looked to be in great shape. Granted you may never have to get there and I hope that you don't, but it looks like Massanutten finally sunk some money into the lodge and all the other areas around it. Maybe it was all the poor reviews, who knows, but there are many other areas and attractions around Massanutten that really need attention, some paint, and someone to make it look like they care about more than just taking your money. I'm glad whoever it is that's in charge of the ski lodge finally decided to take some of the money they've been taking from us and put it to good use. Three stars is better than I would have given the lodge last year- but still not to the level I expect from a "resort" like this. No where near the level of the lodges I've been to in Germany or even in Ohio. read more

I'm not sure if it was because it was opening day but this was the most unorganized ski place I've been to!! We booked everything online for a reason. So we can skip the lines and go right in. Unfortunately, the kiosks weren't working and we waited in line for about three hours (can't get that time back smh). Our kids missed their lessons at 11:30 and they didn't have any other time available. They did refund us back which was good but damn. I don't like to write negative reviews about places but maybe it will help them coordinate better for the season. The staff was not in sync and one told us we can get the kid's equipment at the lesson area and when we got there that equipment section wasn't open. So we had to go back to the man line for gear. They had two lines going. One for equipment and another line for boots. It would have been helpful if there was a sign or someone in charge to inform people that you need to get boots first before getting the gear. Luckily, people in line communicated that to folks around. I would recommend having the right people in charge and I know sometimes there are lines and you have to wait but this was ridiculous!!! I was looking forward to my kids' first lesson here but will have to find another option. read more

Stayed at one of the "hotel" and thought the place was very spacious and clean. Feels like a one bedroom condo. But I can hear my neighbor talking right next door. They have kids...sounds like a dozen or so or at least I hear a lot of screaming and running around and even felt the vibration like someone is tearing the place down. Around 10pm I tried calling the service desk to complain but was told quiet hours isn't until 11pm!! I even tried to knock next door to complain and confront them but because they were too loud they cannot hear me. Granted all this is no fault of the resort, but I feel like they should at least call the tenant to let them know how loud they were. 10pm should be quiet hours in my opinion. I chatted with one of the owners of the timeshare and she too agree that the walls should've been more sound proof. So my guess is it's no better in the bigger places. Other than the noise issue, the resort is great with a lot of things to do. But you cannot book the snow tubing on the phone nor can you buy tickets at the ski lift counter. Have to go to the tubing counter. Very inconvenient plus it sells out quickly. So my advice is to try and buy early. There's no shuttle to other lift/ski slopes so it only leaves you with one place to really ski which can be kind of boring. I like Snowshoe where there's a shuttle (free) you can take from different areas to ski. There's a very yummy pizza and BBQ place next to checkin. You can call ahead and order. Sad they don't have chicken wings. But at least the pizza was fresh and very very yummy. I don't like pizza much but these are the best I've had. Will go back just for the pizza but not staying at the hotels. Did not try the zip line but it looks a lot of fun. read more

The lodge at massanutten is a decent size with a lot going on within it. They recently improved it with the outside gazebo bar - although space is limited and on a cold day it stays rather cold with the doors constantly being opened (the gazebo I'm talking about not the lodge). The lodge has so much going on it gets crowded. The only recommendation I would say is that in the lounge where their are waitresses - have some kind of hostess. Its a free for all trying to get a table. You can be waiting for one 15 minutes and some group walk right in and take a table. Would alleviate a lot of confusion and a lot of people standing in the middle of the restaurant trying to scramble to grab a table when opens up (you have to stay on your toes). I would serve also a little different menu in the gazebo and inside lounge. Make them feel different vs. more of the same. read more

There is a full restaurant and bar on the second floor--but be aware, the bar area turns into some sort of adults-only entertainment venue and they kick out all persons under age 21 by 7:45. If you are showing up for night skiing, the discounted night prices for rentals and lift tickets go on sale starting 3:45. Still regretfully staying at this paper thin resort. Decided to come stay her for my birthday weekend, a mistake I won't be able to undo as we traveled to get here. Hotel walls are PAPER THIN. Carpets are STICKY and GROSS. NO WATER bottles in rooms AT ALL!! The vending and snack machines are currently broken in our building. The staff are USELESS! First time staying at the Hotel of Massanutten Resort. The room is okay, I had 3 issues while staying here 12/28-1/1/2029: (1) the map of the complex is lacking with the actual location of the laundry facility. I drove around for 10 minutes looking for it and called the front desk/concierge 3 times asking where it is. On the 3rd call the rep finally knew that it was in the basement of hotel 3. There is no signage on the streets to direct you to the laundry facility. (2) Now my 13 year old was skiing and somehow fell off the ski lift when it turned the corner to pick her and her friends up as their skies crossed and she couldn't get on the bench...BUT the ski lift monitor wasn't paying attention and didn't stop the lift for her to get up safely! (3) service at the Encounters Lodge is so slow & my bowl of chili came to the table room temperature warm :-(. Today our group of 8 had early dinner at 5:15 and it took over 2 hrs to get through the meal and the waitress made multiple errors with our order. We got into the room and it looked great until we found PEE STAINS on the sheets meant for the pull out couch and their were stains all over the couches. They moved us into a new room that is semi better. The tubing shut down for AN HOUR AND A HALF, and they kept us at the top of the mountain. Not worth it. Massanutten needs to step up their game. The TV's are old. The Can opener didn't work. The sleep sofa was like sleeping on springs. Remote Control is held together by a rubber band. The toilet keeps running, their was a leak in the bathroom. There were bugs and one of the stovetop burners doesn't work. One of the doors won't unlock with the key. Just too many to name them all. I do believe if they had a professional person running things, it would be better.. They also need to add some square footage to the lodge. This place SUCKS period. We have owned a timeshare in Eagle trace for over 15 years and I haven't visited in eight years and this place is going down the drain, the service and the staff from the housekeeping to security are horrible very unhelpful and not willing to work with you they don't even say hi when you're walking in the parking lot to throw out the trash. You have to pay for every single event they have from magic shows to tie-dying to lame jamboree festivals the general store is way overpriced. The waterpark is the only thing that this place has going for it and even the hours on the off-season and the closing of certain days make it hard to enjoy. The food on the whole mountain is pretty mediocre and I would say that if you wanted to get a fresh salad or a good healthy meal I would have to get off the mountain and find something in Harrisonburg or along the way. The security at the front gate is a joke they waive everybody on, they don't check passes and it is obvious that they don't have any type of formal training whatsoever. The gym facilities and equipment are stuck back in the 90s the treadmills don't even work properly when you run on them not to mention the pools are so heavily regulated by rules that it makes it no fun to play with your kids or friends. This place is definitely a meat market for timeshares and if you ever think about purchasing one maybe you should visit the realty company at the bottom of the hill from what I understand they can hook you up with cheaper deals for thousands less. Hope this review helps anyone who is trying to make a decision to buy a timeshare or to visit like I said I've been an owner for over 15 years and it's a disappointment at this place is literally going down the drain. read more

Went in June for a free trip over my birthday knowing that this would be a timeshare presentation. Once we arrived we were given our rooms pretty quickly. The mountain was beautiful to drive through. Once at our room we discovered the room seemed a bit outdated for such a highly regarded resort but it was free so I had no complaints except the bed was literally rock hard. We had our rooms switched with ease but ended up with 2 queens instead of 1 king. Plenty of fun for the family between the swimming, entertainment, activities, trails, etc. The downside would be driving everywhere. A shuttle service would have been nice being that it's a 3 mile long resort. We enjoyed our time there until the morning of the timeshare meeting. We were given a free breakfast which was okay. Then they went right into the sales pitch. Digging deep into personal issues i wasn't exactly comfortable answering. We were then given a tour, stopping preiodically to give us more info about the timesahre. The gentleman was very nice and asked us to keep an open mind which we did. Once completed we headed back and the negotiation began. He gave us prices...then better prices...then "special pricing." We had actually considered it but couldn't afford it at the time in which he got very aggresive and angry telling us we lied to him about being able to. I tried to be as nice as possible and once we gave a firm "No" he said we only came for the free trip and money, tore up the offer and sent us on our way. Afterwards we got a couples massage which was wonderful i think, i dozed off about 40 minutes into it. Overall the resort is beautiful with tons to do. read more

I used to come here annually as a child, always thought the world of it. Booked a trip for the week after my 21st birthday and I have to say this is the biggest scam and joke of a resort you could imagine. The staff was incredibly rude, unhelpful, and put off a vibe that everyone hated their job. The rooms were clean for the most part save the jacuzzi tub that jetted out dirt and hair when it was turned on. If you can get past the 1970s decor and bowling ally carpeting there's plenty of space. Prices on everything are absurd. No access to clean drinking water for less than an arm and a leg unless you leave the resort. I came to a ski resort hoping to ski and for the first four days nothing was usable, one slope opened on the fifth day (45$ a lift ticket 35$ for a rental... not worth it). 45$ a person for a water park where half the slides are boarded up with plywood, freezing water, and ceiling fans blowing down on you. Not to mention I couldn't bring in water because they expect you to drop 3$ for a 16 oz bottle of tap water. If you don't want anyone to steal your stuff better have 25$ for a locker. The tubing was closed all week (even when temperatures dropped below 30). A 7$ cover charge for a shitty bar selling primarily non-craft beers. All the food is near inedible and reeks of an elementary school cafeteria. Now don't worry, if you're into basket weaving they do offer that year round. Sadly I didn't drive 5 hours to learn to weave at a ski resort. The most disappointing and regretful trip I have ever taken. I will promptly be selling my timeshare to any unlucky fool to take it. I will not be returning to Massanutten Ski resort and urge everyone contemplating to stay away! read more

Everything about this resort SUCKS. I was very excited to go to the valley fest. The website said that valley fest was over at 7 pm, and I left work at 5 pm. When I arrived at massanuten at 520, The private security workers informed me that entry was no longer permitted and that the music was over and vendors were packing up. What the heck???? The website said 7 pm!!! This is a crock. This resort acts like they are great for the local community, but this place is a hoax and a ripoff! read more
