We were traveling through Luray and stumbled upon this wonderful place. The owner greeted us and assured us that we were welcome, regardless of our end-of-the-suitcase/been-hiking-all-day attire. We sat out in the garden/patio because we were traveling with our dog. Our waitress, Leah, served his water bowl on a tray!!! And then we enjoyed an amazing meal of prime rib and summer risotto. The risotto was so creamy with hidden treats of perfectly prepared crunchy asparagus. My husband loved his steak, which is high praise because he grew up on a cattle farm and usually has something to say. After our meal, I relaxed in their porch swing. I just want to say that I had planned an entire weekend to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and I was completely disappointed by how we were treated. I had been messaging the owner, Tony, weeks prior to arriving and he had seemed very supportive and excited to have us. We had planned to have a printed menu with catered specifically to us and when we arrived all we got was a tacky birthday balloon on the table. The hostess was definitely treating us differently and we were some of the only people of color in the restaurant. I have been to other places in the Shenandoah area and I have never experienced something like this where I just felt like I wasn't welcomed at all. I highly recommend Rhouse Wine if you want a similar vibe with very accepting and friendly staff. I had gone up to tell the hostess about my previous emails with the owner and she said "oh I forgot I got a text about something but the printer is down". She was being very dismissive and condescending towards us but very friendly towards everyone else. I really feel conflicted about this because the food was great (except the short ribs were too salty) and our server seemed nice. But I felt rushed on my way out when we got our bill just after receiving our dessert and I had noticed that people kept getting little gifts from the server with their bill and that never came. This is THE most charming restaurant and overall dining experience. This is a fancier restaurant and the prices reflect that, however I do understand why after experiencing the high level of service and food. Every staff member we encountered was kind and seemed happy to be a part of Porch & Vine. The owner stopped by our table to say hello and check in on our experience which was a really nice touch as well. Finally and most importantly, the food was delicious too! This genuinely might have been the best steak my husband and I have ever had. The charcoal grill flavor was AMAZING. Our pork belly appetizer was very flavorful and tender. The only constructive feedback I will give was that for the high price, I do feel that my scallop entree needed to be a little larger. It's served in an appetizer size plate and left me feeling hungry. Drink wise, we really appreciated that the drinks could be ordered spirit-free or with the paired liquor. The drink menu was extensive too! Overall, I HIGHLY recommend you stop in this new gem downtown. The curated decor, friendly staff, and from-scratch kitchen really set this place apart. Porch and Vine is a brand new restaurant to the valley. As such, I was extremely excited to secure a reservation last weekend! They have been extremely successful in their pre-opening with select dining options during their soft opening and I was unable to snag a spot for that much to my dismay. I understand that there are a lot of exciting things to come for this restaurant. There is an outdoor patio area that looks absolutely beautiful for sitting outside with a glass of wine and some kind of a green area perhaps for cricket or croquet? Regardless, how cool to possibly experience this side of dining and experience while in the luray area. The restaurant also has an upstairs portion that is not open at this time so I'm looking forward to seeing how they grow into that as well. I was really immediately pleasantly surprised with what the owners have done with this property. The green walls and the gold accents combined with a curated menu and extremely hospitable staff made this place feel like the kind of home we would all love to have! Elegant and understated cozy and sophisticated. The prices were a little bit more than what I would imagine Locals would be comfortable with, having that been said, I do think that this location has so much potential. The chicken was absolutely delicious and the sides, while "Shareable", were a modest portion. Prepare yourself for an experience, combined with a beautiful bar perhaps a bottle of wine and a good friend or family member to catch up with over a unique meal that truly cannot be found anywhere else in the valley. I debated on whether to leave a review here or not, but after reading others had some of the same experiences, I felt I should share our experience . We came in with a reservation. This isn't our first nice restaurant, and doesn't even come close to places we have been. My salmon was actually great however it came with NO sides except like 3 SHREDDED paper-like pieces of vegetables. My husband had a chicken meal and absolutely hated it. We spent $200 on a subpar dinner that my husband said he could make at home. I felt pretty unwelcome there (since we have babies). They have no highchairs, and no children's menus. Which is fine, but like advertise that maybe? The drinks had good flavor but were very inconsistent, the first one had little to no alcohol while the second was extremely strong. Again, over $40 worth of drinks and the quality was questionable. The hostess was extremely unwelcoming and short. There were flies flying around the restaurant the whole time and it was very hot inside. We did have a very sweet server. The owner went around and had a full discussion with every table on where they were from, etc. and then gave me a bs compliment and kept it moving. Everyone around us received free deserts and such at the end of their meal, and we got a literal sack of BIRD FEED. LOL. For the price? ABSOLUTELY not. For the vibe? Like maybe?? If you can sit outside away from everyone. For the food and drinks? Hit or miss. Very disappointed for my birthday dinner but we went to West Main Street after and had a great time so that definitely made up for it read more

The ambiance of Porch + Vine is top-notch. When you walk in the front door, it is reminiscent of entering a lovely, warm family home. The food is absolutely delicious and the cocktails are to die for! My friend and I were visiting Luray for the weekend and stopped in for the dinner service. The hostess, bartender, and wait staff were so attentive. Both owners also stopped by to check in. We were in town for a family wedding, and Porch+Vine was chosen for a private event accommodating the dinner for immediate family/bridal party, then the welcome party for a much larger group. What an amazing place! The owner, Tony, welcomed us warmly the second we walked up the stairs to the entrance, and all the staff was so professional, attentive, and kind. The food was served in a perfect schedule and was generously proportioned. It was amazing! In total, our table got an appetizer plate of the crab cakes, deviled eggs, and corn fritters; entrees of short ribs, chicken piccata, and the spring risotto; shareables of Brussels sprouts, carrots, and fingerling potatoes, plus desserts. Everyone sitting immediately with us (all six of us) raved about the food, and I was able to share my leftover risotto - which I absolutely ate too much to finish - with some of my pickier older family members, and I'm fairly sure their lives are forever changed. The after party outside was also spectacular, with the friendliest bartenders and staff, and a beautiful atmosphere where people ranging in age from 20s-80s all had a great, relaxing, and fun evening. Wonderful vibe, friendly professional and welcoming servers, and exciting menu. The dishes at Porch + Vine are tasty and artfully presented. This is a wonderful spot to take family & friends to celebrate a special occasion, or to visit any time for a tasty meal. For now, during the winter season, P+V is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, including for brunch each weekend. So far I've had two dinners and one brunch there and look forward to sampling their spring and summer offerings. Luray benefits from having an artistic restaurant to complement our other Main Street offerings. Highly recommend! The food here is decadent. I had the salmon and creamed spinach at the bar since I was dining by myself. The salmon was cooked a perfect medium rare, falling apart in my mouth. The seasoning was excellent and the crispy potatoes added a texture that made each bite a pleasure. The parmesan cream sauce was outstanding, rich, but not heavy. Dining at the bar doesn't provide the same ambiance as a table, but the bartender Skye was friendly and on top of everyone's needs. Short Review: Very disappointing experience at Porch and Vines. We arrived at 4 PM when they opened and were given confusing, constantly changing wait times despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Staff acted strange and dismissive when we said we didn't have a reservation, even though an online reservation for 4:30 went through and they later called us for it anyway. Service felt rude and unwelcoming, and the treatment raised concerns about possible racial bias, as we were the only people of color there. Portions were extremely small, overpriced, and came with no sides. Overall, not worth the money or the experience. Long review: We arrived right when they opened at 4:00 PM and were initially told the wait would be 30-40 minutes, with the option to wait at the bar. While waiting, we were then told the next available time wouldn't be until 8:00 PM, which made no sense considering they had just opened and there were barely any customers inside. They also suggested splitting our party between two separate tables, which we didn't want. The only option they kept offering was to sit at the bar. From the beginning, the staff gave us a strange and unwelcoming look when we said we didn't have a reservation. To see if that was the issue, I made a 4:30 PM reservation on my phone, and it went through without any problem. When I showed them, they claimed it was a "glitch." However, at 4:50 PM, they actually called me to come in for that same reservation, which felt extremely unprofessional and odd. The food was also underwhelming. The portions were very small, especially for the price, and nothing came with sides. I've been to much nicer restaurants with better cuts of steak, proper sides, and lower prices. The food and service simply were not worth what we paid. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that we were the only people of color there, and the way we were treated felt dismissive and different. While I can't say for certain what the intent was, the entire experience made us feel unwelcome. Between the poor service, confusing reservation handling, overpriced small portions, and uncomfortable atmosphere, this is not a place I would recommend or return to. read more
