Came here for a birthday dinner with friends and the property was beautiful inside and out. The staff was fantastic and welcoming. We had a private room and it made the experience so special. Was finally able to stop in recently and had an amazing meal at Blue Rock - can't recommend it enough. The property is beautiful, definitely go when the sun is still out. We sat in the main dining room next to a window overlooking the pond. The meal was wonderful from start to finish. Service was attentive but not overbearing, menu was straightforward, we tried most of the current tasting menu and there wasn't a weak dish. Chef Bin's cooking is awesome - lots of familiar flavors but presented in interesting ways and executed perfectly. Loved the winter vegetable tart, the bluetine tartare, the spatzle and foie dish, we fought over the "mac and cheese", and the desserts were all fun and delicious. the amuse, fried chicken, focaccia, and beef with sides were also delicious. Extremely attentive, excellent and creative presentation and execution of food was perfect. Ebony, the pastry chef, checked in on us frequently to ensure that our dietary restrictions were adhered to, and we were enjoying our meal. The head chef, Aaron, even came out to explain a couple of the courses, which was awesome. It was wonderful to meet them, and you can see the tender loving care put into each course of the five course meal. As a summer dinner, everything felt light and refreshing and not overly powered. We were full at the end of our meal, but not overly full and every course paired into the next course, which felt like a story was unfolding before our eyes. Our favorite course was the Hamachi Crudo, and our main courses, which included halibut and sirloin. But all of the courses were delightful and so well executed. This was our second visit in three weeks and both experiences were absolutely super! The location overlooking the vineyards and Blue Ridge Mountains is gorgeous. The dining room is warm, comfortable, and welcoming. Every member of the staff, from servers to bartender to Chef were personable, knowledgable, and eager to chat about this special place with guests. The food, of course, was fantastic: interesting, exquisitely presented and prepared . . . and delicious! One of the gentlemen in the Sperryville gallery told me to come here for a cocktail. As you can see in my pictures the view is impeccable and I lucked out with a sunset cocktail from the bar area. The outdoor patio seating is so beautiful and the view is unbelievable. The old fashioned cocktail I had was very good, had a hint of that smoky flavor. I would definitely like to come here again for dinner with reservations. The backbar has a snack menu that is also worth stopping by for. The staff was very friendly and you have to check out the dining room, it's beautiful. Plenty of parking off front. A dinner reservation is highly recommended for the dining room. Came here for my Fiancées Birthday Dinner. I think it's the only one of its kind in the DMV area. We recently took a trip to NY state and visited Harvest on the Hudson and we wanted to find somewhere more local with the same vibes which led us here and we were very pleasantly surprised. This place is so beautiful and has a lot of history. The service has been fantastic, especially our server, Wyatt who accommodated all our silly requests with no issues, gave great recommendations and really made us feel welcome. The outdoor seating for the Pub menu is absolutely outstanding... The views are simply top tier with almost 360° Mountain View's. For Food and Drink, I got the Ol' Thyme Fashioned and my lady got the prosecco, both were indeed quite pleasant. For a starter we got the Hamachi Crudo, which my fiancée and I thought it was incredible. For the Mains I got the Blue Rock Fried Chicken and my Fiancée got the Pan Seared Halibut. A fantastic evening with excellent service, ambience and culinary execution. The four course price fixe menu was a fantastic question with a particular emphasis on chanterelle mushrooms which I personally loved. The ability of the culinary team to use asymmetric ingredients to replicate an exact flavor and texture profile for their guests was a pleasure for the eyes as much as the stomach. If I had to highlight a specific course, the very first course was exceptional. It featured pink bream fish (raw) with watermelon radish on a bed of what I describe as Tom Yum Gai soup custard highlighted with Anaheim peppers. It was such a treat to enjoy and the service provided by Kaitlyn and the wine director was approachable, patient, attentive and never overbearing while perfectly timing the arrivals of the next courses. This small restaurant was outstanding! We went there for an anniversary dinner and everything was perfect, from the friendly service to the food. For appetizers we ordered the tuna tartare and the cucumber soup. The mustard ice cream that topped the tuna was a very interesting taste. The cucumber soup was served cold and so delicious that I wanted to lick the plate! For our entrees we ordered the lamb chops and the steak. Both were cooked exactly as requested and were tender and flavorful. The lamb had roasted cherry tomatoes as a garnish. Very tasty. The wines by the glass are not that interesting but we ordered a split of Stag's Leap Cabernet, which was excellent. Our servers, Paige and Rose, were attentive and personable. read more

No choice for food other than the prixe fix menu; we knew this ahead of time. We also knew about the 20% automatic service charge (per their website)--which, btw, ended up being 22% on our check. Food portions were even tinier than expected. Food was so-so. Service was very uneven. Check with tax came to $209.95 per person. If I'm going to be charged that kind of money, I expect EXCELLENT service, excellent food, and a friggin' tablecloth, thank you. We were there on a Saturday night. Very sparsely attended. We decided to give this place a second chance after departure of chef Bin Lu in February for the Salamander in Middleburg. Sadly, just like in April, the dining experience fell short of previous high standard set by chef Bin Lu. The view is great as was the service. The food experience falls short of the price point demanded by the price fix menu. The temperature of the food courses was off along with the timing and the overly salted mains, and it is just no longer a fine dining experience worthy of the price point. We sincerely wish them the best but won't be returning unless the food experience improves. read more

Don't miss ordering the ciabatta bread - yes, you have to pay extra, but it's worth it. My favorite dish was the Charleston "ice cream" - a sweet corn risotto with caviar. For dessert, I'm still thinking about the french fry ice cream - how can we make that a permanent menu item? We visited Blue Rock Inn (the previous name) several years ago, when it was under previous ownership and when we heard it was purchased, updated, re-opened and had a great chef, we really wanted to visit again! So, we made plans with another couple to stop in for dinner on a Saturday, but the other couple backed out last minute and the dinner reservations were somehow canceled, even though we still planned on being there... so, we showed up for drinks on the back patio and were so fortunate to score Cassie as our server!! Cassie was not only very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, she made sure that even though we only planned on being here for a couple of rounds of drinks and a snack, it was the best we've ever had! They have an interesting menu loaded with great small bites and we opted for their home made ciabatta with chili butter and it was outstanding! We also enjoyed some cocktails from their well-crafted cocktail menu, as well as some wine. They offer an interesting and eclectic wine list here. One of our favorite things was the amazing comfort and view from their back patio! They replanted the vineyard, which was ripped out by the previous owners and this new vineyard is being managed by the amazing Karl from the nearby Quivremont Winery. These vines made a very nice backdrop for a beautiful drinking/dining experience, with the amazing Blue Ridge Mountains in the far background! Overall, we were so happy to be here and enjoyed every bit of our visit! We would have stayed for dinner, had our original dinner plans not been cancelled by the reservation staff here (actually, our friends canceled and I called right after to just get a table for 2 instead of 4, but was told they already gave away the table). Highlights were the onion custard, lavash with tomato, peach and burrata cheese sauce and squab. Well this little gem won't be a secret for long. We had lunch and drinks there and it was a wonderful experience on all fronts. Gorgeous place, the wines were spectacular, service was perfect, and the food was great. My girlfriend had the white wine flight while I had a hot buttered rum and an old fashioned. Very disappointed! Made reservations with a friend as a Christmas present to each other. After having to cancel original reservation due to weather we were excited to finally be able to go. The atmosphere was beautiful and the staff very friendly but the food was absurd. Waited over two hours to get our main course. All four courses were ridiculously small. Table was badly situated in a corner so server had to utter "pardon my reach" probably about 100 times during dinner. Something must have happened, lots of empty tables and justifiably so.
