My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every wine tasting experience, especially the Triple Threat with cheese and chocolate, and have gained an incredible amount of knowledge on wine, charcuterie building and combining with various foods! Didn't know grapes actually do not go with wine! Our suite was lovely and so comfortable it was difficult to leave, especially with serene views of the mountains! The variety of wine is countrywide, many from female winemakers, from locals and made at Little Washington Winery. We bought a case with a variety, including their Meritage Masterpiece "George". The weekend getaway had plenty of wine tastings in a very welcoming home with plenty of areas to kick up the feet and relax. Carl's dinner recommendation to The Blue Door was also appreciated as we enjoyed the romantic outdoor dinner with beautiful flavorful entrees (especially the lamb chop!) and desserts! My wife and daughter really liked them. We went again this weekend, and I was really impressed with their red wines. They have both inside and plenty of outside seating. I believe most of the seating outside is in the shade with all the trees. You select the any 5 wines you would like to taste. You also have the option to just order a glass or bottle. They have 3 whites, a rose, 4 reds, and 2 sweet wines. They bring you the 5 wines with a sheet of paper so you can take any notes or mark the ones you like. The tastings are a nice amount so that you can really taste the wine. They are working to become a certified organic winery. I did start with their Ancestral Chardonnay, which I didn't care for, but I really don't care for Chardonnay wines. It was made very different which is why I thought I would try it. My remaining tastes were all the reds. 2020 Cab Franc - I really liked this one. I generally like Cab Franc and this one did not disappoint. I thought it had a nice amount of spice to it. 2022 Petit Verdot (Estate) - This is another grape that I really enjoy and this one was also very good. 2022 Tannat (Estate) - I liked this one as well, but would have to say this was the least favorite of the reds. 2022 - Crooked Run (Estate) - This is a blend of Tannat, Petit Verdot, and Petit Sirah. I really liked this one as well. I would probably say this was my favorite. We'll be back.

We usually come here after visiting the alpaca farm across the street. The rooms upstairs are very warm and cozy. The staff will pop in to check on you every once in a while but you can also go downstairs to get/ask for whatever you need. I appreciate that they don't hover. The people that work here are amazing. The wine is fantastic. And the property is beautiful. I've mostly been to the Farmhouse because we always come with children, but the couple of times I've been quickly up the street, the properties looked very nice and elegant. Highly recommend.

Their dogs are sweet and roam around looking for a pet here and there. There is a refrigerator filled with meats and cheeses and some waters and juices for you to purchase. But alas, their wines are just not good. The two whites we tried today lacked any kind of flavor and the reds honestly bordered on vinegar. I could tell right away by the color and the smell of the cab franc that it was off and one sip proved that. I want to like this vineyard because they are so kind and they try so hard but they really need another winemaker.

Once I found out Delaplane Cellars was Black-Owned, it was a no-brainer. This winery is impeccable! The views of the vineyards, fields, mountains, and the cellar itself as you drive up are breathtaking. Making a reservation was a breeze, as was the check-in process. As I was waiting for my college friend and her husband to arrive, I was able to taste a couple of reds before I went outside to our table. The live music inside added a nice touch to the venue, and the inside has such an elegant look and feel, with comfortable seating and windows to take in the sights. There are multiple levels where you can sit outside, and we were on the top. Again, breathtaking views of the fields. The first wine I tried was the Adjacency. One of the smoothest wines I've ever had. The same could be said about the Rusticity. Both hit just the right notes with each sip. When my friends arrived, we caught up and put in food orders and a bottle of the Adjacency. We ordered the Virginia Sampler charcuterie board, fresh-baked baguettes, and the pepperoni flatbread. All of which hit the mark for our hunger and pairing with the wines. The Cabernet Franc was uniquely tasty, with a subtle bite to it. The rest of our time, we ordered a bottle of the Viognier and Rose. One huge plus and takeaway is that none of the wines we tried were overly sweet, even the Viognier with its white peach, melon, and jasmine flavors. The rose was our last bottle before we departed. It was a hidden vineyard tucked away in the valley. We were driving for a while without seeing many…read morecars, so we were surprised when we arrived and found that the parking lot was almost full. They have a nice, open seating area with plenty of covered space. I highly recommend bringing your own snacks or food because there aren't many food options. This place is definitely pet-friendly, too. We saw many happy puppies running around and enjoying the day. As for the drinks, they offer standard flights, glasses, and bottles. We tried the XoXo, Gold Label, and a few of their red and white wines. Some of them had impressive flavors, although I think there is still room for improvement. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. However, my biggest issue and especially for the men, is that they only have one men's restroom. I honestly don't understand the concept. With so many visitors, they definitely need more restrooms for men. Otherwise, they might end up with some very unhappy customers! Overall, the atmosphere was relaxing, and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the calm breeze. I would suggest turning the music down a little so people can enjoy some conversation. And, sorry to say, but the band wasn't exactly my favorite.
