We have been members for over a year. Love the wine and food here. Staff is always great. The owner is always actively greeting guests and the location is beautiful. My wine selection varies when I arrive, but the Chardonel, Tannat and "Mom" are my 3 favorites. However I've tried every vintage and multiple verticals of each wine, and they are all very good. The food here is so different from other wineries. When my wife and I come here, we always eat as well. The butter chicken is excellent. We always get a serving of bread, because you do not want to waste a drop of the broth from the butter chicken. The bread is also exceptional. The samosas are also great. Get all 3! Out of many many vineyards, Narmada ranks in my TOP 5. Beautiful entry, grounds, vineyards, tasting room & parking area. The staff & esp Leslie were very helpful and certainly know their wines. The wines are some of the best I've had (sampled dry white, rosé, & sev reds) -- purchasing a red & white, hope to stop again for more. The Indian menu & my samosas were delicious. The weather was perfect on Sunday as Narmada hosted the Sexy Boujee Winos club. Our first stop was Narmada Winery with our host, Al Dias guiding us through our tasting of 10 fabulous wines! The guided tasting was informative and very Alex was very knowledgeable about his wines and pairing. The wines such as MOM ,Gulabi, and Won, everyone's heart and yashvir, are still my favorite. we got the white wine flight and red wine flight for drinks, and for food we got the artichoke dip. the white wines were good but i wasn't a fan of the red wines too much. i thought the artichoke dip portion was pretty small for the price too. i'd come back for sure though, i'd stick to the white wine and wouldn't buy food. the person who served us explained the backstory for each wine we got and i loved how personal each wine felt to the owner. the winery is beautiful and vast, it would be a great place to visit with friends. read more

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon on a whim and were surprised to be asked if we made a reservation (which we didn't even know was something you should do). It worked out, they gave us a table pretty far away from the main area which was fine with us. The smell of the Indian food was intoxicating and when we inquired about getting something, we were told you have to order it ahead of time. Okay.. but not a good start for two who had never been there before. We could choose from 3 different tastings and the 6 wines were served in little plastic cups on a plastic plate and we were given a wine glass to use/keep. They told us to use our phones to tap into their WiFi so we could read about our wines as we drank them. In my opinion, the wines were good, but nothing amazing enough to buy. My fiancé loved the mango one though and insisted we buy it. Lots of their wines have won awards but I wasn't super impressed. The view sitting outside was really nice though! read more

What a cool winery! I love wine, and I love Indian food -- so my friends & I had to check it out. First, as expected we had to make a reservation online. Good thing we checked in time, because you can also order food but it must be 24hours in advance. So we ordered a bunch of food & saved wine pickings for our arrival. The grounds are huge! There is so much space at Narmada, so they are doing an awesome job with social distancing. The indoor seating is completely closed, but there was plenty outside. We decided to do the wine tasting flight because, hello we're at a winery. The flights are pre-organized into something like drys, semi & sweets, and bold reds. We all split between the drys & sweets. I enjoyed most of the flavors in my flight (semi sweets). There were 1 or 2 where the flavor on its own was overpowering, but might pair great with a dish. At the end, we ended up getting a bottle of the Chardonnel Reserve to share. The food was delicious! We ordered a smorgasbord of items like butter chicken, samosas and pita. It came out wrapped and we picked it up from the register when it was ready. All of it was great and flavorful. We felt super safe during the visit & everything was delicious! read more

Came here during social distance reopening. Wonderful use of there large and beautiful property (there's even a fishing pond!!). Fast, efficient and safe, masked check in and wine purchase. And, the wine!! You can tell there is some science behind their juice. Unlike many VA wineries, there is deep and complex flavors here. We had the Mom white blend in a dry Reisling style and the beautiful and toothful rose. The staff is buzzing about, making sure questions could be answered and people maintained safe practice. Live music popped up and the sun and gentle breeze made this the best and safest summer afternoon around!!! I heard about this winery, and finally, we stopped by on the way back home from Shenandoah valley. We were very hungry. We had two tastings (White and Red) and Butter chicken, Saag curry, and onion naan. By the time I went to the restroom to wash my hands and came back to the table, the food was already there. I said to my husband, That was so quick. My husband said " It doesn't take much to heat up frozen food" But anyway we were so hungry and finished them all. I enjoyed 2018 Chardonel Reserve and 2017 Cabernet Franc. The rest was okay. Unfortunately, the place doesn't give me the wow factor. The ambiance is lacking. read more

We showed up last weekend for the Diwali festival: Hindu Festival of Lights according to Wikipedia. It was an enjoyable experience with the flying lights, bonfires, tasty Indian cuisine and of course very good wine. The scenery is beautiful with the fresh cut grassy fields and landscape. There's outside seating with heaters and fire pits (if cold) and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A very nice selection of wines at comparable prices. I enjoyed the Merlot and the Viognier. All of the grapes used for the wine are Virginia produced so everything put into the wine is homegrown. Virginia is for lovers... of wine! I wish this wasn't so far from me but I have a reason to visit Amissville now thanks to this place! read more

Visited Narmada with a friend as businesses were just starting to reopen from COVID19. We reserved an outdoor table on their website in advance and pre-ordered a bottle of wine as well as Indian food. We were impressed by their systems in place to keep everyone socially distanced (including staff). Jim assisted us on our visit and was delightful. My friend and I shared a bottle of their rose and it was perfect for a spring day. I had the butter chicken which was yummy and my friend had the chickpea curry which was just the right amount of spicy. We shared the saag and samosas. I would recommend both. As a former wine brand marketer, this spot meet my pretty high standards. The draw for this winery is the ambiance of an indoor and outdoor seating option. Inside there's a fireplace, and covered outdoor patio. The main draw was also they serve Indian food. I've toured the Livermore, Napa and Ramona winery scene but an Indian owned winery? We ended up here after a loooooong search and I'm glad we found this place. The tasting wasn't that great. They give you a very small amount of each wine. In each 3 different flights they have You get to taste 5 different wines. Two of the options are $8 and one is $10. All 5 samples are barely gonna make it to a half a glass of wine. So don't raise your expectations. I've been to a couple wineries in California last week and the quantity was a lot more. So you better of buying a bottle and not waste your money on tasting. Just ask for the good options. For white "Mom" is the best and for the red one look for the ones that have won an award ( there were two and they were both great ). The best thing about this winery is the picnic area tho. We went there on a cloudy/rainy day and no one was there but us. After the tasting we bought a bottle and spend the rest of the afternoon in the picnic area. I give this winery a 5/5 mainly because I think it's one of the top choices in the area. The wine is just okay. Def not the best I've had. If you're lost looking at vineyards for a while now, I hope this review help you out. read more

Visited this winery last Saturday because 1) they do a very good job of marketing their beautiful property. Their website shows a very lavish expanse and indeed it's very nice scenery to enjoy. 2) Was intrigued by the Indian-inspired infusion in the winery from the owners. Unfortunately the experience itself missed the mark. Nice property but they assigned seating rather than let us pick where we want to sit. More substantively, the tasting flight was waaaaay overpriced. $15 for six wines. Literally three times the price vs. the winery across the street ($5 for six wine tastings there). Moreover, the tastings were served in plastic to-go containers (think ketchup containers at fast food places, but smaller) on a paper plate. I know COVID precautions were being taken, but there are better ways to do safe tastings than that. Made for an off-putting experience. I hear they have good food but we didn't stick around to try. The woman who served us the wines said that the owner is looking to sell - she is more interested in wine-making than running a business. That showed. read more

We only hit two wineries today Gray Ghost and Narmada. Narmada is definitely an event place. They had three different tastings $8.00 each: White, Red, and Fruity/Fresh & Fun. As with most tastings I take a sip and give my wife the rest. The Mom was my wife's favorite and I really liked the Jubilee. To complete our experience they served a cheese plate and artichoke dip. We each sat on the porch with a glass of wine, ate and enjoyed ourselves. The only negative thing was the service, it got busy and the staff couldn't figure out how to handle large volumes of guests. I stood in line for at least 20 min trying to buy a bottle Mom. I got frustrated and left. Great place, but the need to train the staff a bit better. read more

Narmada Winery is a breathtaking property, owned by absolutely an lovely woman (who also serves as their wine maker), AND they have fantastic Indian food. I really don't see what is not to like about the place! A couple of friends and I stopped in the other week after visiting an old favorite down the road and I could kick myself for not getting here sooner! They are open until 7pm on Saturday, so we stopped in with plenty of time to grab a snack and enjoy the rest of a pretty fall day before heading home. The owner walked us through our tastings and I really enjoyed getting to meet her. She is delightful and warm, and you can clearly tell she loves what she does. I enjoyed all the wines I sampled off of the third tasting menu option (the first are light bodied, the second are medium bodied and the last are their signature varietals) and ended up selecting a blend that is named after her grandchildren. I look forward to many return trips. Bonus: There was a wedding going on down the hill that looked absolutely gorgeous, and event parking is clearly labeled away from the tasting room traffic. read more

Stopped in at Narmada on a cool, rainy Spring day to taste the current crop of wines. New to the winery are these little menus which divide the wines into three separate "flights" of wines. I opted for the #2 - which is primarily their reds, plus one Chardonnay and one dessert port. As always, I really enjoyed their wines, and the staff are always friendly and fun! Narmada is owned by a couple from India who are 'living the dream'. With 20 acres under vine - and 75% of their wines estate grown - it's not a huge place but I like how most of their own wine comes from their own grapes. I also like the Indian theme, which can be seen in the wines. But my highest praise is how most of the red vintages on the tasting menu are 2011 or 2012s. That's unheard of! At a time when many places are serving 2013s, this place is definitely doing it right. They have 3 wine flights, each consisting of 5 wines; Reserve ($10), Fruity ($8), and Sweet ($8). Normally that's pretty expensive, but given I have the VA Wine pass and they offer card holders 2 tastings for the price of 1, I was basically able to do a second tasting for free, so I went with the Reserve and Fruity flights. I found the tasting notes here to be very unique. The Reds tend to be subtle rather than bold, and often had a spicy finish. My server explained that might be because the wine maker/co-owner is a chemist (the wife of the husband-wife team). Given all the spices she's accustomed to from home, this may well influence her approach to wine making. I thought the whites were OK, but I LOVED the reds from both flights. I mean seriously loved every one of them. The 2011 Cab Franc Reserve was very smooth; almost as good as the regular 2011 Cab Franc, which spread out over my palate nicely. The 2011 Chambourcin was also good; more dry than fruity, which is unusual for this grape. But the best two were the 2010 Tannat and the 2011 Yash-vir (Bordeaux style). The Tannat was the least bold Tannat I'd ever had, but that's actually a compliment. And the Yash-vir was highly unusual in that it was very smooth going down, but had a nice spiciness at the end. A shout out for the kitchen, which serves small Indian dishes; individually they are not exactly lunch-sized but if you get several it would serve as a good (if expensive) meal. The guy who co-owns Narmada gets my vote for "Son of the Year", because he named this place after his mom. Then again, given she literally sold her family jewels so he could go to college in the US, she deserves it. The reds are fantastic, as is the overall facility. And funny enough - I met my server at another winery, while she was doing a wine article! Narmada's tastings and food are pricy, but the bottles themselves are reasonable. A return visit is definitely in my future. read more

We preordered food and flights but when we arrived the woman who was helping us didn't seem to know what was going on. No one explained that they only do flights at the bar and food comes later. The woman who helped us was not equipped to discuss the wines. She read from a card and had zero personality to be doing a customer-facing job such as discussing their wines. No one else stepped in to help her. The food was good. The facility seemed to be in mid-renovation and the main tasting room grounds were not kept up. The wines are typical Va wines. Wow! I don't even know where to begin with this review. I had a fantastic time at Narmada Winery yesterday and was in LOVE with their wines!! The best part about this was the customer service and the delicious food pairings! I tried a wine flight which consisted of 3 whites and 3 reds. My flight was the sweeter wines which was all so good!! My favorite wines from the tastings were the Juliet, Lotus (soon to be called Legacy- adding mango to the blend), Primita (pairs so well with the primita chocolate that is wine infused *heart eyes*), and the Mom! Another great perk is that they have Indian Cuisine that pairs with certain wines! I had the vegetable samosas which were fantastic and very filling! On top of the great wine and food, the customer service was top notch. I cannot express how much that made a difference for me especially because it was my first time at a winery, ever! Brandon, Amy, and Prima were so friendly and made my time at Narmada a plus! The views are also breathtaking and everything is clean and organized so well!
