red wine, artichoke dip
Saniya S.

we got the white wine flight and red wine flight for drinks, and for food we got the artichoke dip. the white wines were good but i wasn't a fan of the red wines too much. i thought the artichoke dip portion was pretty small for the price too. i'd come back for sure though, i'd stick to the white wine and wouldn't buy food. the person who served us explained the backstory for each wine we got and i loved how personal each wine felt to the owner. the winery is beautiful and vast, it would be a great place to visit with friends.

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon on a whim and were surprised to be asked if we made a reservation (which we didn't even know was something you should do). It worked out, they gave us a table pretty far away from the main area which was fine with us. The smell of the Indian food was intoxicating and when we inquired about getting something, we were told you have to order it ahead of time. Okay.. but not a good start for two who had never been there before. We could choose from 3 different tastings and the 6 wines were served in little plastic cups on a plastic plate and we were given a wine glass to use/keep. They told us to use our phones to tap into their WiFi so we could read about our wines as we drank them. In my opinion, the wines were good, but nothing amazing enough to buy. My fiancé loved the mango one though and insisted we buy it. Lots of their wines have won awards but I wasn't super impressed. The view sitting outside was really nice though!

What a cool winery! I love wine, and I love Indian food -- so my friends & I had to check it out. First, as expected we had to make a reservation online. Good thing we checked in time, because you can also order food but it must be 24hours in advance. So we ordered a bunch of food & saved wine pickings for our arrival. The grounds are huge! There is so much space at Narmada, so they are doing an awesome job with social distancing. The indoor seating is completely closed, but there was plenty outside. We decided to do the wine tasting flight because, hello we're at a winery. The flights are pre-organized into something like drys, semi & sweets, and bold reds. We all split between the drys & sweets. I enjoyed most of the flavors in my flight (semi sweets). There were 1 or 2 where the flavor on its own was overpowering, but might pair great with a dish. At the end, we ended up getting a bottle of the Chardonnel Reserve to share. The food was delicious! We ordered a smorgasbord of items like butter chicken, samosas and pita. It came out wrapped and we picked it up from the register when it was ready. All of it was great and flavorful. We felt super safe during the visit & everything was delicious!

Came here during social distance reopening. Wonderful use of there large and beautiful property (there's even a fishing pond!!). Fast, efficient and safe, masked check in and wine purchase. And, the wine!! You can tell there is some science behind their juice. Unlike many VA wineries, there is deep and complex flavors here. We had the Mom white blend in a dry Reisling style and the beautiful and toothful rose. The staff is buzzing about, making sure questions could be answered and people maintained safe practice. Live music popped up and the sun and gentle breeze made this the best and safest summer afternoon around!!! I will most certainly be back, and will preorder the food (must do this the day before it looked and smelled amazing)!!!. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time.

The food was delicious, pairs great with the wine. Pre-order the food before you head over. Great large space, beautiful landscape, great for picnics. I preferred the whites with Indian food. enjoy the flight and atmosphere.

Great experience, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Grounds are amazing and the accessibility for all is a plus. Live music was a plus. They celebrated Diwali party, food from Chennai Express Indian restaurant, Chantily Tasty treats

I am glad I chose this place for my birthday. Spent some quality time with my family. Everyone loved it. Outstanding views, top-notch wines, and Indian foods. what else could you ask for? Kudos to the waitstaffs as well. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming.

Diwali Discounts!

We showed up last weekend for the Diwali festival: Hindu Festival of Lights according to Wikipedia. It was an enjoyable experience with the flying lights, bonfires, tasty Indian cuisine and of course very good wine. The scenery is beautiful with the fresh cut grassy fields and landscape. There's outside seating with heaters and fire pits (if cold) and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A very nice selection of wines at comparable prices. I enjoyed the Merlot and the Viognier. All of the grapes used for the wine are Virginia produced so everything put into the wine is homegrown. Virginia is for lovers... of wine! I wish this wasn't so far from me but I have a reason to visit Amissville now thanks to this place!

The winery is selectively nice and cozy. The wines are good and the food is also good. Although they only serve small portions.

I was greeted immediately upon entry by Abby one of the young bubbly staff members. In the middle of the floor is their current cork display, which is the Catholic Cathedral. They also have outdoor seating which is probably beautiful in the warm weather months. I opted for a white wine tasting and ended up getting a glass of Reisling on site along with the cheese platter. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and they generously offered tastings to help us choose a bottle we'd enjoy. Since it was a hot afternoon, we opted for a nice white wine. I tend to prefer drier wines, and we got a bottle of Victorian White. The winery also offers a lovely outdoor seating area with scenic views, which made for a relaxing experience. We enjoyed the wine so much that we ended up taking home another bottle. Seyval Blanc was just as light and refreshing. I'm already looking forward to coming back soon to explore more of their selection!

The review does not reflect the fact I did not get to try their wine, but rather the way I was treated when I attempted to plan a trip to visit the "right" way** We were driving past this spot on a nice Sunday, coming home from a family lunch, and thought why not stop in? I did not have a reservation because (as mentioned above) I wasn't aware of needing one and I wasnt sure when I would be able to stop in as I was just passing by (we live 1+ hour away). As we pulled into the long dirt road, the front gates have no clear sign that says 'By Appointment Only' - perhaps a good add before your clients drive up a steep unpaved road to just be turned away. None of the vines appeared to be in use so the drive up may be more beautiful one day when the grapes are on the vines. The parking lot is a bit cramped and full of fancy cars, giving us a taste of the type of clientele that would be inside. We came in and I inquired if I could do a wine tasting. The staff member told us we needed a reservation but that he would do his best to try to see if they had space - totally fine. My mistake again- I did not realize that this winery required reservations (no other winery I have been to in Charlottesville, Middleburg, or NOVA has done so) so my first assumption wasn't that I needed a reservation. Again, no sign at the front that says this and would have saved me time. The space was obviously gorgeous, the views spectacular and it felt very Napa and upscale. The staff member returned back and told us they couldn't accommodate us- ok, disappointing but ultimately is what it is. I asked the two staff members standing there how early they recommend making reservations, as we dont live in the area so I need to plan ahead. They told me it was hard to tell but that basically any time it's warm, it will be hard to get a reservation and that "Saturday visits are a pipe dream" and Sundays are "pretty impossible too". They then kindly told me "you could try to snag a reservation maybe a Thursday or Friday". Mind you, their hours are 12-5 on Thursday/Friday...I live an hour plus away, let alone with traffic. I guess my only options are to take off work to come visit as it seems there will be no chance for me to ever get a reservation for 2 on the weekends.... Needless to say, it felt like the staff really could care less for our future business and we politely left. The staff did not offer to help us book a future reservation or anything of that nature - just a snooty response that I probably shouldn't bother every attempting to return on a weekend. Hilarious enough, I decided to look up their website and low and behold - they had tasting reservations that same day at 3 PM (45 minutes after we first asked about a tasting) - no offer to us to wait or come back to return, just basically turned away. Cherry on top- they have tons of reservations open for future Saturdays and Sunday. If you don't want my business, you dont have to tell me twice. If I want to deal with pretentious folks, I'll fly to Napa and drink wine actually grown onsite.

From the moment we arrived, I was completely blown away. As we parked and walked toward the field--with gazebos and a dock with seating--I immediately noticed how kid-friendly the vineyard is. The playground setup was incredibly creative and perfect for sparking a child's imagination. I honestly wish I had known ahead of time because I would have brought my little one! The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There were horses roaming around, which added such a peaceful charm. As we explored, I kept noticing thoughtful and unique touches everywhere--from a stunning wine tree to large decorative clay pots, and even buildings designed to resemble a Greek town that house classic cars. It all made the experience feel extra special. There was a wedding taking place, so part of the property was closed off, but it was easy to see how perfect this venue would be for an intimate "I do." Inside the main building, they offered a great selection of food, an impressive wine list available by the glass, bottle, or flight, and hands down the best wine slush I've ever had. My only critique is that it seemed like the AC wasn't working inside, and I really felt for the bartenders who were working so hard as it got busier throughout the day.
