Their Farmhouse store gets 6 out of 5 stars!!! We love this place and feel welcomed everytime we come. There aren't many food options at the Farmhouse but you can bring food and there's usually a good truck just a short walk away. Children aren't allowed past a certain point on the property though. We usually come here after visiting the alpaca farm across the street. The rooms upstairs are very warm and cozy. The staff will pop in to check on you every once in a while but you can also go downstairs to get/ask for whatever you need. I appreciate that they don't hover. The people that work here are amazing. The wine is fantastic. And the property is beautiful. I've mostly been to the Farmhouse because we always come with children, but the couple of times I've been quickly up the street, the properties looked very nice and elegant. Pearmund was our last stop on a Friday of wine tasting. We got 2 wine flights (1 red flight, 1 white) and I was delighted that the sparkling was an option! We took our flights outside to enjoy in the vineyard and were delighted that the music (by the owner/winemaker) started early. Our favorites were the sparkling (though too $$ to purchase) and the Cab Franc. Black Ops was a little disappointing, but overall we enjoyed our tasting. The ambiance is top notch and I was so relaxed! The inside is also very cool - tons of wine books! I could totally see myself coming on a rainy or winter day and leafing through some books. read more

The staff were so kind and knowledgeable at this winery. I've been to quite a few wineries in the area and this was one of my best experience as far as crowd, customer service, and the taste of the wine. Also good value for the experience - a 6 wine tasting was $18 and you got to explore a wide range of the menu. We chose this winery because there is a picnic company that contracts with them that can set up a private picnic under the willow tree. (Warrenton picnic co. Highly recommend) The grounds are beautiful with plenty of shaded areas to sit away from the crowd. There are food options on the premises but I enjoyed that you could bring your own picnic as well. I'm more a fan of reds so the cab franc/cab Fran reserve is really good and the black ops! read more

One of my favorite wineries in the area with beautiful scenery, delicious wines, great staff, and dogs are welcomed on the patio! Hubby and I did the flight of 6 for $18. Note wine souvenir glass is not included in the flight, it's just a small $3 upcharge (it's worth it!). Interestingly, Pearmund Cellars is the oldest VA Chardonnay winery since 1976 and grows its own grapes specifically for the Chardonnay wine. For the red Black Ops Wine, some of the proceeds go towards a charity that raises funds for veterans. They raised $15K last year. After the tasting, I got a glass of the Viognier (native grape to VA) and bought a bottle of Rose after having a glass. There's an array of cheeses and crackers to choose from. We bought aged Gouda and rosemary cheese and herbed crackers, which paired well with the wines. On a quiet Monday afternoon, I enjoyed relaxing and taking in the sweeping views of the luscious vineyard. The staff was super nice and didn't heckle me for wanting to share a tasting with my hubby (we ended up getting our own). I prefer Pearmund over Bull Run, which has a bit of a snooty atmosphere. Beautiful well kept winery over an hour from DC. It was a great day trip out, sooo picturesque! My husband and I did a tasting and were quickly impressed with their wines. It's a good sign when you're following the tasting list and telling yourself which wines you will purchase only to realize it's their tasting list. We knew we had to join their wine club... Which in itself is a good deal/program. It's $75 quarterly, so we can't wait to come out and pick up our wines rather than having it shipped. We haven't tried their farm store or little apps yet but look forward to utilizing our new favorite place when we want to get away for the day. read more

I went to Pearmund Cellars today and had an amazing time. The staff was tremendously knowledgeable and helpful while I was deciding what to have. Jason described the wines and help me narrow down the options. I had a glass of rose and a glass of petit manseng and both were delicious. If you're looking for a calm relaxing place to enjoy good wine; I would highly recommend this winery! They don't allow anyone under 21 at the main tasting room, but you can go to the farm store on property with kids and enjoy their wine. In the store there are tables set up inside and outside for families. I would recommend going upstairs where they have rooms with couches and tables set up. read more

Cute little winery nestled way deep inside a gravel road off lee highway. They do barrel tastings. They have snacks and a food truck but food is allowed inside. They also have a heated backside with firepits. Wine is about $12 a glass or you can do a flight for $16 or tasting for $18. It's a cute little winery, but there could be a little more space or a nicer area to sit in (the barrel room is really nice but has to be reserved and the outside is nice, but if it's cold, it's really cold - even with fire pits). read more

My husband and I visited Pearmund's Tasting Room (along with half of NoVa!!) on 11/12/2022, the Saturday of Veterans Day Weekend. Our intent was to pick up several bottles of the new Black Ops-7th Mission-as gifts (and a couple for ourselves), but we always love tasting the latest offerings too! We were greeted warmly and offered two choices for tastings: the Tasting offers 6-1ounce pours of preset wines, no substitutions, while the flight offers guests the opportunity to choose any three wines and they are 2 ounce pours of each wine. My husband and I both chose the flight option since we prefer more red wines (the Tasting offers half red and half white). Our Tasting room associate (no name tag and we forgot to ask!!) was lovely, friendly, and helpful as we deliberated choices for our respective flights. Our tasting room associate is a nurse on weekdays and offered her appreciation to my husband for his military service. We reciprocated for hers, especially during covid, and shared that we had many nurses in our family as well. We finally decided on our wines, and in no time, they were labeled on the board, poured and placed before us. We were invited to sit, sip, and enjoy. There was a jug of ice water available, and we made sure to stay hydrated. I took notes on the wines, and we wound up not only buying a half dozen of the 7th Mission Black Ops as gifts (and to cellar at home), but added a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. This one had me reeling: it is full and rich, chock full of dark fruit like blackberry and raspberry. It's just delicious!! You can purchase cheese, crackers, and other small snacks to enjoy with a bottle of your favorite Pearmund wine. The winery grounds are beautiful. Unfortunately, rains from a recent hurricane left them too muddy to walk them this time. Various houses are on the property, but I am not sure which ones are part of the farm/winery and which are just neighbors. There is a lovely farmstore with great gifts like t-shirts, personalized wine glasses, books, stickers, and other cute gifts for your favorite oenophile. They also offer tastings and sales of wines from their sister wineries: Vint Hill Farms and Effingham Manor. Both sister wineries are worth visits on their own. Vint Hill served as a U.S. Army base up until the late 1990s and was the hub of some pretty covert operations. Check out the museum on the grounds. Effingham is a historic estate that includes a few outbuildings and a small koi pon as well as plenty of seating spaced out along the property so you can truly relax and enjoy the countryside. It is blissfully open to those 21 and older only... no children will be running through your picnic or screaming while you try to listen to the live music and no strollers will be nicking your ankles in line for a wine refill. We had a wonderful experience here last weekend so I wanted to make sure I came by to drop a review! Pearmund has been on my list forever due to the consistent great reviews, but I unfortunately don't get to this area of the state very often. On our way back to the Richmond area after a surprise romantic getaway we decided to pop in to a winery or two and enjoy some sips, and I'm so glad we did! Our server (I'm terrible with names, I'm so sorry!) led us during a shared tasting (great way to try what they have without over doing it on the wine!) - we let him choose and without giving him any preference information, the ones he picked out were all perfect. We loved all of them but settled on a bottle of the black ops to take home - such a fun concept! And a glass both of that and the petit Verdot. I'm kicking myself for not getting a bottle of that as well, but that just means we'll have to get back up there soon. What a wonderful winery! I was invited to Pearmund Cellars to celebrate my friend's birthday and I had such a lovely time with her and the other party guests (7 of us total)! The winery is unbelievably beautiful and so relaxing. We spent the entire day here on the outdoor patio and had the best time. I started my tasting journey with 3, 2oz pours of the petit manseng, the viognier, and the cameo rose. All delicious. The Viognier was my favorite of this group. We then shared a few bottles of the cameo rose with our group while munching on some food. The cameo rose is so good. You must try it. Later in the afternoon we opted to do a tasting flight and the Cab Franc was my favorite. I should have bought a bottle of the Cab Franc and Rose, but because I didn't, I know I'll have to go back. My friend did have a reservation for the barrel room but they were able to accommodate a quick switch to the outside patio. It was pretty empty when we first arrived (around noon) but it quickly filled up. It was a rainy day so I think that kept things pretty quiet in general, but I would imagine this place can get very busy. There are TONS of places to sit--both inside, on the patio, and even in the vineyard! For me this winery represents wine tasting in Northern Virginia. I had such a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the winery and views. I cannot wait to visit again, and check out their sister wineries also in Northern Virginia. read more

My favorite "local" winery! Staff here is always friendly and happy to tell you about the wines they're serving. The outdoor area is beautiful and you can sit amongst the vines and watch the hummingbirds. Both whites and reds are good and they do Virginia wines (Viognier and Petit Verdot) especially well. Wines by tasting, flight, glass or bottle, so all options are covered. I've only been on weekends, but they typically have food trucks on hand, cheese/charcuterie in the winery for sale, or you can bring your own food. They appear to be very dog friendly too. One thing to note is that this winery is 21+. That might be a deal-breaker for some, but honestly (and as a parent), I actually prefer it. I'm all about quiet chill vibes. I've been going here over the past 3-4 years and finally signed up for the wine club. It's a really good deal with a free flight at every quarterly pickup and good discounts on bottles. read more

Pearmund Cellars is a craft winery that opened in Broad Run, Virginia in 2002. It was founded by Chris Pearmund. The 30-acre vineyard on the property (known as 'Meriwether') was established in 1976 and is the oldest Chardonnay vineyard in Virginia. Chris Pearmund bought Meriwether Vineyard in 1996 with a plan to build a new winery that produced Virginia wine of the highest quality. Pearmund has been in the Virginia wine industry for well over 30 years. He started out working in the kitchen of various restaurants and today he is one of the most respected winemakers in Virginia. In addition to owning and operating Pearmund Cellars, Pearmund has helped to found more than a dozen wineries and vineyards, including The Winery at La Grange, Vint Hill Craft Winery and Effingham Manor and Winery. Pearmund Cellars has been voted Virginia's best winery several times. My wife and I have good friends who live in the Greater Washington D.C. area, not far from some of Virginia's best wineries. On one occasion when we visited our friends, they took us on a fun day of Virginia winery hopping. They took us to three wineries that happened to have been founded by Chris Pearmund, including Pearmund Cellars. The grounds of the property were really beautiful: grape vines as far as the eye can see. The inside of the tasting room was nice and cozy. We had tastings of their various wines, including their Riesling, Viognier, Old Vine Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The latter was my personal favorite. These were definitely high quality wines! A beautiful feature of the winery is their Italian-tiled barrel room, which features antique-gold light fixtures and a unique system of stacking wine barrels. It looks like a really cool space for special events like food & wine pairings. I spent a spring afternoon tasting the wines from Pearmund. The vineyard is extensive and the tasting room is well away from road noise, I found several of their reds had interesting depth. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will return. My only wish is that they served lunch. read more

You walk through the doors of a beautiful converted home surrounded by acres of vineyards and some lovely fire pits and seating areas for warmer days to be met my a cute farm store where they also provide tastings. At first, I was a bit overwhelmed trying to identify if this was a winery or farm store. The friendly staff walked us through our options for tastings. We sat down and tried their Chardonnay, Sauv Blanc and sparkling wine. All were quite impressive. You could tell a-lot of thought and time went into these wines and the production of the grapes. Definitely worth a stop! I'd recommend checking them out in the warmer months - outdoor area looks incredible. Indoor was a bit stuffy but enjoyable for the most part. read more

I would have given them 5 stars but for the cold reception we received upon arrival. We emailed ahead of time to let them know there was a group of a dozen of us coming. Upon arrival we were greeted by a British woman telling us we needed to get back on our bus, they did not have room for us. Only after countering with an Excuse Me? were we told (harshly) that we would need to go down to the barn where we could be set up in a room where we could sit and have some wine. The good news was that, after that rough start, the gift shop at the barn had a great selection of items, the living room where they set us up was comfy and the wine was very nice. They have popcorn in the gift shop that is very good. If we could be greeted a little more warmly, we would go back. read more

What a charming vineyard! I only had about an hour to spend, so I didn't get the full experience. But my time at the farmhouse store, eating, drinking, and perusing the wares, was delightful. They have tons of delicious-looking food to buy and take with you. I don't know a lot about wine, but I do know that I'd never heard of wine from Virginia... so I wasn't expecting much out of my glass. But I was VERY pleasantly surprised by a thoroughly enjoyable Cab Franc. I wished I could have bought the whole bottle, but it wasn't practical for my travels. The staff were helpful and friendly, the ambiance was rustic and tidy, and if I lived any closer, I'd definitely go back! I absolutely love this winery. The place was beautiful and gorgeous! The staff were all professional and polite. The bathroom were very very clean and nice. The tables were totally social distancing at it's best. I did not feel crowded I felt peace and serenity the place was calming and clean. There were no children and no pets running around interrupting. We brought our own lunch. They do serve platters of cheese, cracker and fruit for purchase. But that's it. I definitely recommend this winery to anyone! This was my first visit to a winery. I will never forget the experience. Things to bring would be: MASK *wear your mask while walking around* Bluetooth speaker - the have music playing if you sit near the building. But if you don't your own music would and could be nice. Your lunch for yourself to eat and snacks Tablecloth if you don't sit near one of the tables closer to the building. They have picnic tables throughout the area. Pearmund Cellars was a delight to visit. Everyone I encountered was enthusiastic and friendly and the staff had excellent recommendations and were great salespeople. I only had the rose here - but it was lightly sweet, crisp, and refreshing. I anticipate returning for a full tasting in the future. I also think Pearmund is handling safety precautions well - masks required, sanitization, and adequate spacing. Their seating is only outdoor right now, and it's not a huge space so on a busy day I'm not sure how feasible distancing might be. I enjoyed my trip into the shop area, and the grounds are beautiful. I highly recommend a visit out here! Like many wineries in this area, the road in is narrow, gravel, and pretty much only one car at a time. You need to be cognizant of cars coming the other way because there's not much space to pull off the road. But the winding road in takes you through the grape fields - I loved it. read more

They sell cheese plates or you can bring your own food, not alcohol. Wasn't a fan of the wines as I like them sweet.
