I have a photo of them standing on the front porch with their guests. My great grandfather Zirkle built it as a summer guest house, 1890's. They added a large wing on the west side that had a ballroom and about a dozen guest rooms. It was a happy place. Guests would take the train from D.C. to the train station (Claire's) in downtown Warrenton. From there the guests were picked up in a horse and buggy and taken to stay for a while in the cooler country air during the hot/humid D.C. summers. I do not sleep well in hotel room beds but I was pleasantly surprised on how comfortable the bed was and I was able to get some needed rest. Literally everyone was super nice, friendly and helpful! I have to give a special shout to Marianne Postma-Harris for being so generous and accommodating, I really appreciated it! Marianne went above and beyond to ensure that I was well taken care of! She was beyond friendly and sweet! Breakfast is included in the stay which is a plus! You fill out the door tag menu they provide you and you leave it outside the door and then in the morning they bring it directly to your room. I had a veggie omelet and it was so delish! Def recommend that one for sure! Even though I didn't get a chance to take advantage of their restaurant or spa services, I plan on my next visit! It is such a nice local get away and also a great place to have a gathering or a special event! I cannot wait to go back that's how much I loved this place!

From the moment we arrived, I was completely blown away. As we parked and walked toward the field--with gazebos and a dock with seating--I immediately noticed how kid-friendly the vineyard is. The playground setup was incredibly creative and perfect for sparking a child's imagination. I honestly wish I had known ahead of time because I would have brought my little one! The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There were horses roaming around, which added such a peaceful charm. As we explored, I kept noticing thoughtful and unique touches everywhere--from a stunning wine tree to large decorative clay pots, and even buildings designed to resemble a Greek town that house classic cars. It all made the experience feel extra special. There was a wedding taking place, so part of the property was closed off, but it was easy to see how perfect this venue would be for an intimate "I do." Inside the main building, they offered a great selection of food, an impressive wine list available by the glass, bottle, or flight, and hands down the best wine slush I've ever had. My only critique is that it seemed like the AC wasn't working inside, and I really felt for the bartenders who were working so hard as it got busier throughout the day. Overall, I absolutely loved this place. It's one of the few spots that truly caters to both adults and children, and I'll definitely be back.

There is a clipboard on the wall that has reminders for everything too including Wi-Fi, happy hour, and checkin/out times. She also asked what time we wanted breakfast delivered to the room since that is a benefit of the cottage. There is parking guaranteed right next to the cottage and it seemed enough for two full-sized vehicles easily. Wi-fi worked great. We loved the wood stove. You don't need it for heating purposes but it was very nice and cozy to sit beside the fire. The cottage has a lot of windows to let in natural light which was enchanting in the morning. When you get there you'll realize the room faces the road but you need to worry as they have great privacy shades that also block any night light. The bathroom actually has a wall heater unit installed too. It was so nice stepping out from the shower into a very cozy bathroom space. We slept amazing. If you are a light sleeper you might consider traveling with a white noise machine or downloading an app for that. There isn't really much noise but the very rare car driving past. It was raining for our stay but there is a nice furnished side deck area that would be nice to eat breakfast on. There is snacks and drinks in the main house which is just a few feet from the cottage. They do also have happy hour where guests can mingle too. My husband and I are introverts so we stayed in but felt welcome to go. Overall it was a great stay and I highly recommend staying here.

The owner of the Gay Street Inn offered to drive us so that we would not get soaked walking. It was such a nice thing to do, and we really appreciated the thoughtfulness. The room was pretty spacious for the two of us and it was beautifully decorated. It had anything we really needed for the one night. We booked the Bed & Breakfast rate which included breakfast the next morning (sadly we missed it) and two cocktails that we picked the day prior in our mini fridge. We enjoyed both of those and loved that it included mixers if we wanted. The extra drinks were much appreciated as well. The bed felt a little weird for me and got a little sore but my girlfriend seemed to like it. Check out was pretty simple. We basically just had to leave the key and walk out. Drew and Deb really made things easy for us and everything was seamless. If we ever did come back, I would love to stay again.
