The restaurant is located in a historic hotel the Mimslyn Inn in Loray. The formal dining room with southern charm but with a diner vibe. I enjoyed the Portabello mushroom dinner and substituted mashed potatoes instead of rice and it was delicious. My two friends thought the beef tips were dry and the other thought the ravioli was not light enough. The server was very nice.

Circa 31 Salad: 4/5 The salad was good, and the vegetables were fresh and crispy. The arugula went very well with the other vegetables in it. Cajun trout: 4/5 Grits (side): 5/5 The trout was very tasty and well seasoned; however, it was a bit dry. The grits that came on the side of the trout were absolutely delicious. I usually think of grits as boring and something to just finish off, but these grits were delicious. It was buttery, flavorful, and I found myself eating it by itself. It also added a lot to the fish when eaten together. I would recommend this dish. French onion soup: 2/5 The soup was quite sweet (maybe because of the sherry added), and the onions and croutons underneath the layer of cheese had become very mushy so that it was more like a bread pudding with some soup in it. The ambiance was very elegant and old-timey, with lots of deep reds and golds. The murals on the walls of 1920s streets were enjoyable to look at during the meal. Servers were very friendly and helpful, but wait times were a bit long.

Had an amazing dinner here during our weekend trip to Luray. We made reservations in advance and had no wait to be Seated. The food was great and will definitely be back!

Located within the Mimslynn Inn, this restaurant serves up some delectable food. I was skeptical because the town of Luray lacks any level of sophistication until you step foot onto this property. It is all class. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt (because we were shopping) so I felt out of place because the hotel is a grand place and very upscale for this little town. We decided to have brunch and ordered the seafood omelet, a bowl of soup and took a chance on their Reuben spring rolls. We were the only ones in the dining room and the food was taking a bit longer to get to our table and our server (Maya) did the smart thing by bringing us an order of freshly baked bread & butter. YUM. Then the food arrived. WOW! ALL of the food was top tier. Both my girl and I were having "foodgasms" as we ate - it was that good. Those spring rolls were amazing as was the seafood omelet because the shrimp was very tasty. The soup really hit the 'spot' on this cold day. In fact, we dipped the remainder of our bread into the soup at the end of the meal and it was heavenly. When we visit Luray in the Summer, we will definitely eat here again.

Great Find In Luray…read more Went hiking with my family in Shenandoah National Park this weekend and overnighted in Luray. We happened across The Chop House by mistake and a lucky one it was! Everything about the meal was fantastic! Our server Pete was terrific. My brother-in-law hit the nail on the head when he said "He was the most unpretentious, informative and friendly server I've run across". Very polite and helpful, you could just tell it made Pete happy to be helpful. The menu is not large, but the dishes we ordered were all top notch. First the Focaccia Bread came and it was just right, a good sigh of things to come. Next the Crab Dip. We are from Annapolis, a crab crazy town on the Chesapeake, where every restaurant has their own "award winning" crab dip, so we are very well acquainted with some of the best, but this one knocked it out of the park. It would win the "Best of Annapolis 2026" if this restaurant was in Annapolis. Next came the Sirloin, at Pete's recommendation. Salted perfectly, and cooked correctly to medium rare, with a side of asparagus cooked to crisp perfection and seasoned with a garlic butter that was just fantastic. We rapped it up with a flight of deserts to share, at Pete's recommendation. Deconstructed Cheese Cake, German Chocolate Cake, Creme Brûlée, and three of their house made ice creams. Again, just Wow. And when the bill came, again a very pleasant surprise. Steak dinner for 4, with cocktails and wine and the bill came to $250. Back in Annapolis that meal would have easily been $400 or more at Lunes Steakhouse, Ruth Chris or the Chart House. My wife and I agreed this meal was better than any we've had at any of these high end resturants. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We'll be back, and nothing against the other servers, but we'll make sure it's on a night Pete is working. Great job Pete and to everyone in the kitchen, just a terrific meal. She answered our many questions about the menu and made great recommendations based on our preferences. I had a delicious carrot soup followed by a wonderful chopped steak burger. The topper was the german chocolate cake with a thick and rich (butter cream?) icing! This converted house provided a cozy dining experience. It is worth the short ride from the caverns to have a meal here.

That tells me I've discovered something, since locals know the best places to go. I changed my plan from a soup and sandwich to a sandwich with a side based on my (outstanding) servers' recommendation. I selected the 'Monaco' but all the options looked good (and I love the names). Since it's a coffee shop I stayed for a cappuccino, which was served in an adorable tiny cup Great service. Not a fancy place but doesn't pretend or need to be.

Well it all came down to the customer service and food delivery time. When we first sat down, nothing was mentioned to us about the service times. We were greeted and just kinda tossed into a spot. I say it that way b/c they weren't very amenable in how they sat us. After sitting down, they did the order, drinks, etc. like usual. The catch - they were MASSIVELY behind on their ticket times. Was it busy? A little, there were still seats around us available though. Now when I say massively behind, it took us nearly 50 minutes for our food to arrive. That's just crazy for a lunch service. In the future, if they were that behind on ticket times, it would help all the customers in the restaurant (allowing tickets to stop backlogging), and set the expectations for the new customers coming in. Maybe it was a one-off, but it definitely prevented us from even considering it when we were looking at places to eat. Food Taste: 5 Overall Service: 2 Value of food to cost: 4 Facility: 5 Ambiance: Mom/Pop place that has a nice rustic, yet small town and nostalgic feel. Repeat customer: eh.. maybe? Dog Friendly: no

We had such a wonderful experience at Broad Porch Coffee!…read more The salmon and dill toast was absolutely incredible--the presentation alone was beautiful, and it tasted even better. Everything was so fresh and perfectly balanced. It was so good that we ended up ordering two more to go just so our older teens could try it too! We also had the kale and roasted grape salad, and it was exactly what my palate needed--light, refreshing, and full of flavor. You can really tell they put thought into every ingredient. Overall, such a great spot with amazing food and attention to detail. We'll definitely be back!

Seeing how much looked good and we were tourists, we over-ordered and got to try a little of everything. From the summer menu, we got Biscuit and Gravy, Paradise Parfait, and the Bread Pudding. I enjoyed my biscuit and gravy - pretty solid. Child #1 devoured his parfait (I tried it and I think it may have been my favorite item - they also have a vegan chia seed option - a woman was enjoying hers next to us when we waited in line), and my wife loved the bread pudding, which has a nice maple glaze to it. We also grabbed several of their pastries, including some scones, a muffin, and a buckwheat cake slice. All were great, though the buckwheat pastry was a tad dry. They have a lot of standard offerings of a coffee shop - teas, coffees, lattes, etc. I got a matcha latte and found it to be earthy and not too sweet. The inside is a bit narrow, especially when you consider a long line. The staff are efficient but don't lose their warm hospitality. Broad Porch has an Air BNB "Loft in Luray" located upstairs. I imagine it would be wonderful waking up to the smell of coffee and pastries. I would say if you're visiting Luray, Broad Porch is a MUST VISIT. There's something for everyone. Highly recommended.
