Came here on a recommendation and found it to be great…read more The whole place is a somewhat standard American-fare bar. My wife was very excited to try the pierogi appetizer. It was delicious with some onions and what tasted like bacon fat on it. The kiddos got items from the kids' menu - a simple pasta and a small pizza. There was a special while we visited (Oktoberfest, I think) that had some fantastic German items, including a killer schnitzel with sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes. It was fantastic. I got a couple of the on-tap beers and enjoyed them much. There is a respectable cocktail menu (any of them can be made mocktail if you want). One thing I appreciated very much was how family-friendly the place is. Our waitress saw Child #3 starting to melt down and brought him over some toys to play with, commenting that she had kids of her own. Indeed, in the corner, there is a whole table full of toys for kids to play with. Even the bathroom has a full changing table setup, which is way better than those wall changing tables. Overall, a great experience.

I really wanted to have a good experience here. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case…read more I planned a day trip in Luray, VA for my husband's birthday. It was extremely hot and humid that day, and we have a baby, so we opted for an indoor restaurant with air conditioning. I came across Ollie Cat Cafe in a Google search. The online menu seemed to offer something for both of us to eat so we decided to give it a try. The parking was adequate and was a short walk from the car to the front door, which was helpful since I was carrying my baby in her car seat. When we walked in, the restaurant was about half full of patrons eating their meals. The staff was buzzing about as well. While we were standing by the front door, still holding my baby in her car seat, a staff member made eye contact with us and said "that looks heavy! I'll be with you in just a moment." She never came back to seat us. A second staff member looked at us and proceeded to keep working. While we were waiting and watching the room, a customer approached her and asked for their bill because they had been waiting so long. The waitress frantically said yes, and then walked over to the bar to get drinks for a different table. The drink station was next to where we were still standing. The same staff member proceeded to complain to my husband and I about how hectic it was and how they couldn't keep up to the point where she started bad-mouthing her own team. (The restaurant was only half full). She then directed a younger staff member at the drink station to seat us. He never even looked our way. After 15 minutes of watching the chaos, my husband, baby, and I left and went to Blue's Dog Bowl instead - where the food and staff were outstanding! So I'm sorry that I couldn't write a more thorough review of Ollie Cat Cafe, but until their staff learn how to wait tables and operate efficiently, this restaurant is going to suffer.

And when we passed…read moreby this little town called Luray, we thought it was very cute with a surprising amount of charm to it but very original in its vintage setting. But when we passed this restaurant it stood out from the rest of the town we had to pull over to stop in! From the front porch to the backyard and everything in between we could see it was inspired by Virginia's alluring nature. From the nature sounds in the bathroom to the monstera leaf themed wallpaper it very much had its own significant charm! We were honored by a visit from the owner (Tony), the chef(Mat) and even the head leader (Jennifer) they are a GREAT TEAM! We could tell talking to them they all felt passionate about what they do. I even noticed the owner looking at the POS system going through every table to make sure he had personally thanked everyone for coming in. Me and my husband got the course for 2 but added on the pork belly. The course included a salad for each of us and a main course but had to share a dessert. Which I found to be the only disappointment considering the price and no note saying it was a shared dessert in the menu. We each had 3 cocktails and a glass of wine. My husband said his first drink was probably one of the best drinks he's ever had and we have lived all over the US. The courses were timed perfect for us. However we wanted fresh silverware to eat our dessert and we waited almost 10mins for them. Our sever was very nice and attentive even our glasses were never emptied thanks to all the other helping staff!

I used to brunch so much in NYC and I don't think I've ever been hit with a one Benny plate - and definitely not at the prices they were charging here. I almost wished they would charge a little more and give me two!

A menu should make your mouth water. This menu made a couple leave after taking one look at it. My husband ordered a salad and it was the saddest, most basic thing I have ever seen. It was iceberg lettuce, a few other things, and a chicken tender cut up into the tiniest pieces. I had a burger w/ PB & J and I don't think they could have put less PB & J on it. The burger did not seem to be great quality and was grey in color. Onion rings were a star here! The sweet tea was also very good. Our server was overwhelmed and did the best she could. I think she was the only server working a handful of tables. She was friendly, but felt scattered. The restaurant had several dirty tables and tables that were dirty underneath. Likely the result of a young diner, but it gave an overall appearance of being unclean. Decor was stark. I hope our experience was just a bad night.

The food was average overall, though I was grateful to have vegetarian options available while spending the day in the park. I did notice their dinner menu includes a roasted vegetable stew, which sounded more up my alley, but unfortunately I was there during lunch hours. So, this place had awesome service. The waitress was polite, attentive and yet her broken English worked perfectly for the position she was in. She knew the menu and came back to check on us more than a few times. 4/5 stars for the service. She was the best thing about the place. For the food, 1 star. The pictures on the yelp site showing the food explain it all. Notice some images show the food with excess liquid, I mean watery beans without any flavor? And then the rice was served without any seasoning. The guacamole came with huge chunks of tomatoes and it was hard to separate the avocado from the tomatoes. When we sat the waitress brought out chips and salsa. Half the chips were going stale. The salsa was good but more of a liquid consistency. We asked the chips be sent back and new ones brought out. The waitress did without a complaint. Then the things went downhill fast. My wife ordered the Chicken Fajitas for two, "Meh." I asked her about the beans and rice, "Meh." At least the margarita was good. It was sweet, but that is common and can depend on someone else's palate. She requested the corn tortillas because she forgot to order them at the beginning. The waitress brought them out without a problem. They tasted, "Meh." I ordered the Deluxe Burrito, it came out looking like a Picasso done by a three year old, filled with beef from a chef who used to work at the Bell. I tried to eat it but, "Meh." Long and short, nothing had seasoning unless it had the wrong seasoning and nothing was done right. This place deserves a 1 star.
