Great food, great prices, great specials and great service! I choose the Friday night ribeye Special with free drink.

Second year in a row we have stopped here on our January 1st motorcycle ride. They were very accommodating for our group of about 30. They moved a bunch of tables so we were all able to sit together. I was a little worried that they might be overwhelmed with so many of us but I was wrong. The service was fantastic, they made sure our drinks were never empty and the food came out surprisingly quick. I had Pappy's pulled pork bbq sandwich with fries which was really good. Paying was very convenient, the receipts had a QR code that you could scan and pay at the table. Over all great experience and I look forward to going back.

When you walk into this place you smell freedom appreciation. The decor is mainly firefighters stuff and seems pretty authentic. We were warmly greeted after striking out on two other places it was nice to have that. We saw a sign said due to hiring shortage please be patient. So we did. We were kept up to date and we admired the decor. Ordered the western bacon burger which was delicious. The fireman burger was calorie rich. The pulled pork with Mac and cheese don't recall the name but was fun flavors in the mouth. The chicken tenders were a little over cooked. Overall a great meal. Our waitress did so good and we would love to have her again.

Went here with my boys tonight. The food was average to good. I was expecting better. Not sure why. They advertise everywhere around here. The restaurant boasts firefighter decor: a ladder hanging from the ceiling, a firefighter coat hangs on the wall, a firehose wrapped around a room divider, another leaning against the wall. A bookcase shows off a lot of small scale fire engines. I had the fried oysters which needed some kind of sauce. They tasted fine. But they needed something extra. The hush puppies were fine. The coleslaw was very good! My sons had crab cakes (very good), and vegetables. One son ate all his overcooked green beans. (It may be a Southern thing to overlook green beans.) The other son couldn't eat them. He didn't like those at all. I will definitely be back and maybe become a regular. The menu has a lot of choices that sound very good. We did have to ask for appetizer plates for our onion ring appetizer. The wait staff does everything in a hurry - when they come to check in, they will hear 1 answer and run off before another request can be made. So when they come back, they now have another thing to do. It doubles their work instead of being efficient. Next time, I will know to ask ahead of time for ketchup and sauce for the onion rings and cocktail sauce. The sauces won't come automatically but the food definitely needs to have the flavor added.

    Nice decor!

Opened YELP and it was the first place listed. We decided to stop based on the ratings and appearance and selection of the food. Fire station decor and really quaint inside. People were friendly but on mountain time food came quickly. Meatloaf, hamburger steak and all the food was great-fresh cut fries! I would've given it 5 stars except I realized after a few bites the bottom of the meatloaf was red and not fully cooked and my meal was lukewarm. Brought it back, heated it up, ate it, and it's good hot!

Great place! We are on vacay and do glad we tried this diner! Chicken fried steak was delish as were the corndog bites and shrimp basket! Everything looked HOMEMADE and tasted great! The interior was cute with a fire station theme. Service was beyond great! Best service in awhile! Lots of homade cakes and pies too!

Great Find In Luray…read more Went hiking with my family in Shenandoah National Park this weekend and overnighted in Luray. We happened across The Chop House by mistake and a lucky one it was! Everything about the meal was fantastic! Our server Pete was terrific. My brother-in-law hit the nail on the head when he said "He was the most unpretentious, informative and friendly server I've run across". Very polite and helpful, you could just tell it made Pete happy to be helpful. The menu is not large, but the dishes we ordered were all top notch. First the Focaccia Bread came and it was just right, a good sigh of things to come. Next the Crab Dip. We are from Annapolis, a crab crazy town on the Chesapeake, where every restaurant has their own "award winning" crab dip, so we are very well acquainted with some of the best, but this one knocked it out of the park. It would win the "Best of Annapolis 2026" if this restaurant was in Annapolis. Next came the Sirloin, at Pete's recommendation. Salted perfectly, and cooked correctly to medium rare, with a side of asparagus cooked to crisp perfection and seasoned with a garlic butter that was just fantastic. We rapped it up with a flight of deserts to share, at Pete's recommendation. Deconstructed Cheese Cake, German Chocolate Cake, Creme Brûlée, and three of their house made ice creams. Again, just Wow. And when the bill came, again a very pleasant surprise. Steak dinner for 4, with cocktails and wine and the bill came to $250. Back in Annapolis that meal would have easily been $400 or more at Lunes Steakhouse, Ruth Chris or the Chart House. My wife and I agreed this meal was better than any we've had at any of these high end resturants. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We'll be back, and nothing against the other servers, but we'll make sure it's on a night Pete is working. Great job Pete and to everyone in the kitchen, just a terrific meal. She answered our many questions about the menu and made great recommendations based on our preferences. I had a delicious carrot soup followed by a wonderful chopped steak burger. It is worth the short ride from the caverns to have a meal here.

While returning from a family mountain weekend getaway, we needed a spot for a late breakfast/early lunch. Just off the main highway, Bearrr Appetit appeared tucked into the beautiful Lydia Mountain Lodge. The drive up is scenic but very narrow, so expect to slow down and enjoy the drive. The lodge itself is cozy and rustic with a touch of elegance. The actual dining area feels intimate with gorgeous mountain views appearing both inside and with outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is highly recommended--though it was raining during our visit and mostly wet, with some covered tables and seating. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was warm and attentive, and Sidney, who served us, was especially accommodating and friendly. Everyone that was working seemed to be focused on service. As for the food--it was fantastic. We ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch items (eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, sandwiches), and everything exceeded expectations. Overall, Bearrr Appetit combines breathtaking views, great service, and delicious food in a charming mountain setting. It's a true hidden gem worth the detour. We look forward to visiting again, hopefully as guests at the lodge!

We were seated quickly and we noticed our waitress was Slow on getting to the tables for drinks and after about 10 minutes she came by and got our drinks. Upon her getting close and speaking it was very apparent she was very intoxicated and I remarked that it was sad about her condition. As we waited for our food we watched her interactions with other tables and she had problems remembering what table was which. She delivered food to the wrong tables and dropped other food on the floor trying to deliver it. Her fellow waitresses were actually calling her out in the middle of the dining room telling her to get her act together. When she delivered the food the hamburger steak platter was literally a dry hamburger patty that was old and had a thimble of gravy. the mashed potatoes were instant and had been poorly mixed because the powder was still dry in the middle. The glazed carrots were old soggy and brown ( see the picture) . We never got a bill because she just disappeared completely. We went to pay and the cashier was able to look up the order and we spoke to her about the waitress needing some help and her condition and all she would say is " we will try"
