In a time when breweries are closing down, and younger generations really don't enjoy the same beer halls their parents dragged them out to, this place is thriving. We tried the Afton location, which is a campus of beer hall, outdoor stage and seating, eventish spaces. Beer- there's a lot of it. Something for everyone. And there are seasonal taps, etc. Food- the burgers won the show. There are a lot of options, but the BMB Classic with crappy orange cheese was perfect. All in all, it's the classic American brewery experience. We know this place all too well. We went here when this place was just the original small building. We come here every time we visit out to Devil's Backbone and its just a staple to always visit. The food and beer are pretty solid and facility is on point. The only issue that keeps this place from being a solid 5 is the customer service. Sometimes the servers are just not all 'there'. Stopped in for dinner on our way to Wintergreen and even though it was early, it was packed We just wanted something quick and easy before reaching our destination and I decided to try something different and I'm glad I did. My salad was delicious! It had arugula, apples, pears, dried cranberries and I switched out blue cheese for Parmesan and blood orange vinaigrette. It was so refreshing and light. Came here with a group of 9 on our first night in town to checkout some wineries. Honestly, this was my favorite stop of the whole weekend, even more than the wineries, which is typically what this area is known for. We sat outside and the views were amazing. They also had live music on this Friday night, which we really enjoyed. I started with a sampler. You got to pick 10 generous samples for only $11.50. We also ordered a number of appetizers. The buffalo chicken dip and fried pickles were both awesome. My mom and I shared an orchard salad and a flatbread. Both were delicious, with very generous portion sizes. I had been to Blue Mountain's Crozet location a few years ago on a busy Saturday with friends and thought it was okay. I can see they've expanded their dining room and created a cool outside area that looks lovely. A few weeks ago on my return visit the overall experience was mostly blah. It was a beautiful day, so we chose a corner table on the patio outside. We split the turkey wrap and an arugula caprese salad. Both were so fresh and so good. Our server was Rhett B, who was amazing. He knew we were sharing so they brought out extra plates, and he checked on us frequently. What a fun spot - felt like a brewery straight out of the Rockie's, transported to the Virginian landscape. Outdoor space is really expansive - plenty of seating between picnic tables and Adirondack chairs (and of course the indoor area as well), yard games for those so inclined, very clean, etc. The indoor section was very campy/log-cabin-ey, which was a cool vibe. Tart sour beer, FRIED GREEN TOMATOES (all caps for a reason - that slathering of pimento was heavenly), and the Date Night Pizza - all wonderfully delicious (also shoutout to how ENORMOUS that pizza was...? However one ranks patio and beer... What falls short is service level, staff lack of regard, lack of training, and mediocre food that is either over or under cooked seemingly hours ago. How hard can it be ! Several tables had issues with their food and the server was ambivalent (tossed the returned meal on a nearby table and moved on to a different table to check in). We could see how raw their burger was from across the patio. We asked for assistance and the guy we spoke to was spacey and suggested we find our waiter and tell him. As inept as the staff was, their chef needs a kick in the pants for serving up raw burgers on one end and dried leathery chicken sandwich. Who is in charge of this place? C'mon - people are paying a fortune everywhere they go - the least you can do is deliver food deserving of their dollars and the drive to get there. Do better! read more

We visited BMB on a partly overcast lazy Sunday before the heat hit Virginia. This was a fun outing with friends and the perfect place to visit on the patio with nice views in the distance. Certainly a hike coming from Richmond but was well worth it. The beer flights were a great way to test out everything they had on tap and we all really enjoyed them. Some more than others obviously lol but it definitely broaden our horizons since we are typically dark beer drinkers. The food was also exceptional. Every single one of us enjoyed the food a lot. I for one was stunned by my "date night" pizza; everything on it from toppings to crust was perfect. Happily, I had plenty to take home so it ended up being a three meal bonanza. We also got the fried green tomato BLT, and two pepper jelly and bacon burgers -one with a side of Caesar and another with a side of chili. Not only was the food delicious but the prices were incredibly reasonable; particularly in this day and age. Nothing worse than paying a lot of money for food that's disappointing, but this place does the opposite and we will definitely be coming back. This place is extremely popular. Just getting a parking spot is tricky. BUT as soon as you walk in you are seated. We started with a flight. Their flight is all 10. It is awesome. I highly recommend getting the flight. It feels like your taking a journey with their beer. It is a great tasting . They really have a great menu. We got the Double Date. That is 2 patties with my favorite , goat cheese and they put a sweet jam. It was perfect . Great bun and got the baked beans. They were like a gourmet version that I could eat everyday. My brother and I were looking, of course on yelp and we found this really cool brewery close to my sister's cabin, and we decided to go try it. What an awesome recommendation. He got a flight of different kinds of beers from the brewery and enjoyed trying all of them. I got a cider with peach flavoring, which was very tasty. We had the pretzel with beer, cheese and mustard, the mustard is really good. It was a little horseradish in it, but not too much. It was very tasty. We also had the fried brussels sprouts, they were coded in a balsamic vinegar with apples and smoked bacon, it was very, very tasty together. I like the fact that they didn't cook brussels sprouts to mush that you actually had texture in them and that they were really nice. Then we split a entrée of barbecued pork with Thai coleslaw. I got fries he got a salad. His salad was huge, even though it was a size salad and he said it was very delicious. They gave him an apple balsamic dressing to go with it and he was very happy. I got the fries which were dipped in a tempura batter before being fried. I thought they went really well and I dipped them in the Thai dressing that came with the coleslaw. Very tasty! we sat out on the porch, because I brought my dog and they are very dog friendly. They have wonderful fire pits all around for when you come and it's kind of chilly. And you got to see the beautiful mountains and eat and the beautiful air. It was so clean. Really had a great time. Our servicing to have a lot on her plate, but she still made time to stop by and check in on us. We recommended my sister come and visit and we would love to come visit again ourselves. The best thing on the menu was the persimmon sour that my brother got in his flight and Back even ordered a small goblet of it again before we left. Fries were cold and had been sitting so long you couldn't even tell there was cheese on them. The chili used in the taco salad was full of beans, it was like 95% beans, 5% meat. One of the burgers that we ordered was supposed to be a double patty but one patty was extremely smaller than the other. It was like that put a slider patty on top of a full size patty. Did y'all not think someone would notice that? The flights of beer were okay. Out of the 10 beers I enjoyed maybe 2-3. This is a wonderful place surrounded by mountains. We were here with my family to have some good time and awesome beer selection. This craft beer place has lot of outdoor area with indoor seating as well. We got sampler flight and few appetizers. The components of the meal are separated out in the bowl - like the quinoa, chopped dates, goat cheese, dried cranberries and roasted sweet taters. Seems tasty? It is.
