Ordered a smash burger on a Friday around 5:30pm and the bun was cold and unappetizing. You could feel the chill on the top bun. Very disappointing. The burger patty was fine. Fries - lukewarm and I even picked up the food immediately upon getting the text notification. In the past I've ordered pizzas on Tuesdays during trivia and those were solid. The beer was OK. The food service was TERRIBLE. I ordered a pizza - it was last Friday, August 8, a busy night. After waiting for 1 1/2 hours, I went to the pick-up area to ask when my pizza would be ready. I was confronted by someone (scraggly brown/grey beard, I suppose he was the kitchen manager) who told me I was slowing down the service by asking about my pizza! As if it was MY fault the process was taking so long! This guy has a lot to learn about customer service. After 1 hour and 45 minutes, the pizza was finally ready - when I was about to leave without it, despite having paid in advance. And it wasn't that good. If you like local craft beer and (here's another thing) don't mind deafening music, prohibiting conversation, and if you don't mind waiting an inordinate time for mediocre pizza, try Basic City. I love that Waynesboro has an actual brewery!! Basic City is located on the East side of the town and at the foot of the mountain. It's a beautiful location with indoor/outdoor seating. The decor is basic and beautiful and they also offer tours to their showroom!! The service is great and food is very yummy!! I love this brewery for so many reasons! The beer is great, staff is friendly, and the place is HUGE! The indoor areas go on and on with new surprises through each door including arcade games, comfy couches, TV's, and a music venue. They also have an outdoor patio with plenty of picnic tables with umbrellas. We got the homemade onion dip which was DELICIOUS. The pizza was just OK in my opinion but my partner really liked it. Go here! Beers are amazing! We did a flight each, with four options a piece and a 4 ounce of water glass included in each. They charge based on the individual beers you choose, ranging from $2.25 to $2.75. I appreciate the fairness in the pricing. We ordered a brisket to share as well. There are a couple of appetizers options (pretzel and nachos), bbq sandwiches, and pizza/flatbread options as well. The space is fun and beautiful. Outside are many tables and lighting to enjoy the space. It has snow earlier in the week, so we stayed inside. The space is very relaxed with a ping pong table and games to choose from. We took a spot and worked on our drinks. The DIPAs were all top notches for us. The red was good, though not as notable as the others. Our buzzer beeped and we grabbed our sandwich. The brisket style was cut more like pulled pork. It was the second time that we ordered brisket in the area and found something similar. The flavor was good, the coleslaw helped balance out the slow cooked meat. The sandwich came with regular potato chips, which we used as palate cleansers with each new beer we tried. The beer and the space at Basic City are great, but unfortunately, our experience with the food ruined our visit. The wait to receive our order was extremely long (it was obvious that other patrons were frustrated by the food wait time, as well), and when it was finally ready, we couldn't believe what was served to us. The quesadilla was so black and burnt that it was inedible. We also ordered a hummus platter for $13.99, but all that was provided was a single cup of hummus with nothing else. The bartender was helpful in taking the food back and submitting a replacement order, but then began another wait. Finally, after being at the brewery for two hours with no food, we decided to call it quits. The bartender was understanding and didn't charge us for the food, and we really enjoy their beer, so those are the only reasons I can provide 2 stars. read more

This place is really cool! We were staying in Waynesboro after a day on Skyline Drive, and wanted some fun and beer. We lucked out, because there was a really good band there that night. There are 3 bars to choose from, and the beer selection and taste is great! They have cocktails and fancy bourbon drinks as well, and even a cigar selection. This place was a bit noisy in the main arena area, because of the band and the large crowd, but it is easy to visit the tasting room for showroom if you want a quieter environment. Met my nephew and his wife here on a Saturday to catch up some. It is a good middle location for a meet up. There is adequate parking around back. There used to be some in the front but it is now outdoor seating. We had a flight and a few beers. The Daily Pils is a nice light beer. We went after the state started opening things up so it was not nearly as fun or nice as my first visit. There was a food truck as well. What a great spot! We stopped in on Saturday and had lunch and beer, kiddos in tow. We tried 4 different beers while here, a few DIPAS and a dark lager; ate a great lunch; and heard fantastic live piano tunes. Amazing visit is an understatement. The kids had a cheese pizza and it was perfect for them. The crust was nice a doughy but crisp. We had an app and sandwiches from The Showroom. The app was a goat cheese with fruit compote on crackers and baguette rounds. It was a huge serving for $10. For sandwiches I had the High Hog which was full of meat! And pesto and fig too. He had the redneck Reubenesque and it was also full of meat and deliciousness. Both came with sliced dill pickles and the bread was nice and crispy fresh. My one complaint is that it is a bit disconnected feeling, but in talking to the staff that is being worked out. I can't wait to visit again. Seriously. It's that awesome. read more

We enjoyed the charcuterie board, a prosciutto and arugula pizza, and a sausage and mozzarella pizza. We arrived at Basic City Brewery just after it opened for the afternoon. The bartender/owner was very friendly and welcomed us in. The facility was new and very clean. It had a large game room with vintage arcade games. There is a large area behind the brewery where you can string up a hammock (your own or you can borrow one from the brewery) and enjoy a pint! What a fantastic idea! I had four samples in my flight; all were well balanced and great drinkers: The Coach Tim, Phaethon Amber, Oopsroch, and Grin Stout. I highly recommend these. The manager poured a couple free samplesof other beers but I forgot to write them down. All were excellent! One thing to know about Basic City, it is downhill from the edge of US Highway 250 so it can be hard to spot. It is on the right as you head east on US 250, heading out of town. read more

So this brewery was a delightful surprise. We tried quite a few different beers. They were all super smooth and delicious! I usually don't care for IPAs but theirs are super drinkable. The chocolate port was amazing and perfect for a fall day! We also ordered a pizza. It was ok. It was a little bland and the middle was a little soggy.. But it paired with the pizza nicely. My advice for the pizza is better cheese and more seasonings in the sauce. But the beer was perfect! read more

We went shortly after the brewery opened and we were not impressed but due to others telling us how great they were, first we tried the Richmond location which has a limited selection and this week the Waynesboro location. Visiting on a Wednesday afternoon, we were surprised how busy they were. It may have been because it was during a holiday break, but there were lots of people enjoying all the of games and activities. My husband and I each had one beer, which we enjoyed, then took a growler to go. I only gave this visit a 4 star rating as it was a bit cold inside and we didn't get a chance to try the food. What we saw looked good, so I hope on a return visit to get the whole experience and upgrade my rating. read more

Can't say enough great things about this spot. First time going and the staff was super helpful on explaining how and where to order everything. I've been to other breweries during this COVID thing but this place takes it too a whole different level of dictatorship. Plus over priced beer I can't even test first. ( no samples Not the law but their new rule ) That is there choice to not to give a testing. I ended up getting a pint of beer for 6 dollars but then went to Bennys and was allowed to test the beer. Guys you need to get your act together and quick. The combination of the two are going to put your company out of business.
