Great use for an old upright!

We arrived on a Sunday right before closing. The place is eclectic and homey. Nothing franchised or overproduced here. Just good honest beer and nice folk. There is a b&b attached and the bar appears to be in the brewers yard. Locals hang out and tourists stop by. But make no mistake, the beer is winning awards - done right. We had a schwartzbier and a festbier and both were smooth, approachable, and delicious. Don't pass by this place on the 151 trail!

We absolutely love coming to this brewery! The beer room is situated in an old feed and grain barn, and is the most eclectic scene you'll find in this area--and that's not even close to describing how unique the beer is! Terri and Dan are incredibly personable, and the beer is the best on Nelson 151. Always unique flavors, to include the regularly tapped Pix Ax Irish red, and the seasonal taps such as the Avaj Joe Coffee Pumpkin Stout, the Creeper Mango habanero ale, and the Picolas Cage pickled jalapeño wheat beer. LOVE this place. Upstairs they also have a ton of games, foosball, cards, music, darts, etc. Lastly, this is the ONLY Packers bar in a 50 mile radius, so we love to come here to watch NFL games.

One of my new favorite stops EVER!…read more Woodridge Farm Brewery is one of those places that sneaks up on you and then refuses to let your heart go. This property is massive! Like, "did I just wander into a rustic resort?" levels of big and every corner has its own personality. First stop? The farm market. And listen... I could've spent my entire vacation budget right there. Shelves stacked with homemade canned goods, sauces, jams, salsa, pickled everything, and more pumpkins than Cinderella could handle. Total cozy-country heaven. The grounds are seriously gorgeous. You get these pockets of space that feel secluded and peaceful, almost like a secret beachy cabin retreat dropped into the Virginia mountains. There are tons of tables outside so you can sip and snack in the sunshine, plus a driving range, volleyball pits, and a giant "LOVE" sign that basically begs you to take a photo. Inside, the bar is warm, rustic, and charming the kind of spot that feels like it was built for good drinks and even better stories. They had a food truck the day we visited (I didn't see in-house food options), which just added to that relaxed, festival-by-the-lake feeling. Between the gorgeous scenery, the spacious layout, the drinks, and the vibes? This was easily one of my favorite stops on our travels. 10/10 would go back in a heartbeat.

I wasn't even in the mood for beer, but came here anyways and was shocked…read more I went with a friend for dinner here as the options are super limited in Lexington VA. I was already not in the mood for anymore drinking after spending a weekend in a major tournament in Lynchburg. Anyways, for a Saturday evening, this place was pretty packed both inside and outside. We both ended up getting a flight of beers each and every one was great. The food surprised me as my fish tacos was super fresh. The chips and queso was also great. Overall, a must see - especially for the view of the mountains if you decided to eat outdoors.

Brewery # 445…read more Devil's Backbone is a very large operation it seems. They make beer, the make bourbon, and they make food. They just do them all very slowly or at least they did when I was there. We came here on a Monday evening, and it was somewhat busy but there were visible empty tables and a couple spots at the bar. We went to the bar and waited awhile before the bartender asked what we wanted. I didn't ask for a flight because he seemed too busy. Whatever I wanted they were out of, but I ended up with an Imperial 16-point IPA which was quite tasty. I also got some chicken nachos, but I had to go stand in line to order them. They were adequate but not worth the wait. The place was very disorganized. They had workers always standing by the hostess desk, but the bartender was overwhelmed. Seemed like they should have had more than one, after all it is a brewery. Would have loved to try more beer but we just left and went back into Lexington for another round at another place. I don't know maybe it was just a bad night.
