While staying at the Massanutten resort, our family decided to have dinner at this establishment one night. Since this is a resort restaurant we did not have very high expectations. The servers greeted us warmly and were able to accommodate our large party without reservations which we were super grateful for. Multiple people in our party ordered the pot roast, the burgers, the salmon, mac and cheese. When my salmon first came out I was very impressed. The veggies on the side were perfectly seasoned. The mashed potatoes were A-okay. I don't care for leaving the skin in a mash and I am also not the biggest fan of red potatoes (purists know yukon gold is the undefeated champion of a stellar mash, but I digress) ... my salmon had a wonderful sweet Asian teriyaki crust on it which was crispy and rich and fatty as a filet of salmon should be... until I noticed that the rest of this fish was raw and pink inside. We sent our plates of fish back to the kitchen to have them cooked again and they came out okay. The ambiance here is very family restaurant meets log cabin. A couple of people who ordered the pot roast didn't feel too good the next day, I peeped over and that dish did not look appetizing at all. They should really work to spruce it up. The mac and cheese sauce was also on the runnier side, something to work on. With a few improvements this restaurant can easily be a 4 or 5 star establishment. A little bit of attention to detail goes a long way.

Amazing peaceful time was had! Food & drink perfect! Great service, The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely happy to make recommendations. Whether it was your first visit or your tenth, you're made to feel like a regular which I appreciated! The ambiance is cozy and rustic, with warm lighting and that signature campfire spirit the cornbread I loved the dessert my kids loved! Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the quality is consistently top-notch. Whether you're dining with family, catching up with friends, or just treating yourself to a great meal, Campfire grill is a great option when staying in Massanutten!

My husband and I visited Campfire Grill on a Friday evening in late Oct., 2025, around 7:30 pm. We were concerned about a potentially long wait time as we didn't have reservations and the restaurant was packed. We need not have worried as we were seated within five minutes, and the server greeted us soon after and offered drinks and their menu. Our plan was to have dinner at the Campfire Grill, and then go over to Base Camp (both Massanutten properties) for drinks and their live entertainment. Hence, at Campfire Grill, we only drank waters, which were delivered with a plate of lemon wedges (nice touch!) Food. My husband ordered the Chicken Pot Pie ($18; our rating, 3.5/5), which was described on the menu as rotisserie chicken and succulent vegetables (as expected, small-diced potatoes, corn, and peas) in Grandma's gravy sealed in a flaky crust. This was served in a cast iron pan. My husband enjoyed the taste of the pot pie, but felt that the quantity of chicken was on the lesser side. For the entree as a whole, the quantity was good. My selection was the Windmill Pasta ($18); our rating, 3/5), described as sautéed chicken breast with broccoli and mushrooms in a smoked Gouda cream sauce over fettuccine. While the sauce and the added Parmesan shavings were tasty, we were disappointed with this entree overall. Unlike the chicken pot pie which had too little chicken, this one had way too much -- and it was rubbery and didn't seem sautéed. Unfortunately, the chicken also crowded out the broccoli and mushrooms; these ingredients, which we were looking forward to, were insufficient. The pasta was also dry, and could've used more sauce. The quantity was large; in fact, we brought back half in a doggie-bag for a later meal which we supplemented with more veggies and sauce. For us, the star of the menu was dessert. Keeping with the theme of the restaurant ("Campfire Grill"), choices included S'mores Cheesecake, Campground Cookie Skillet, or a Bag of Local Apples. We were intrigued by the latter ($10.50, with two spoons, rating: 4.5/5). This featured phyllo dough layered with butter, sugar, and spice, filled with local apples stewed in warm autumn spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), and topped with house-made vanilla ice cream, praline pieces, and candied ginger. This would've been a 5-star rating if the base had been heated longer; it was lukewarm at best. Our server, Geneva, was very good (5/5). She took care of us well, checking regularly to see if we needed anything. As a general observation, they seemed to be somewhat understaffed -- only a few servers seemed to be handling the large dinner crowd and, as the evening went on, many tables weren't bussed for long periods. The ambiance (4/5) was comfortable. There were individual tables and booths, as well as seating at a large bar. The coolest area was a set of family-sized tables in the back room that appeared to be set in a large glamping tent. Parking was free and plentiful.

We absolutely loved this spot. Thankful we got a recommendation from the worker at the chair lift. The views were beautiful and the theming was so cozy. We loved our chicken pot pie, side of french fries, and crispy dr pepper. We will be back in future trips!

We started with the Cast Iron Cornbread. Delicious! Lots of corn flavors and cooked to perfection. It arrives in a hot cast iron 'sliced' skillet with eight separate pieces. The honey butter was spectacular. Then we ordered the Sizzling Beer Cheese Burger. It also came out in a sizzling cast iron pan with the beer cheese melted in the pan and the burger cut in half and soaking cur side down in the melted cheese. Flavorful, tangy, and cheesy. The bacon was great but those bourbon braised onions tasted great and dissolved in your mouth with tastes of warm onion and sweet bourbon. Lastly we split the Bag of Local Apples for dessert. Exactly as described as fresh local apples wrapped in phyllo dough layered with butter, sugar, and spices of cinnamon. Vanilla ice cream with candied pralines decorated the whole thing. The candied ginger was spicy but not too spicy. The atmosphere was fun. At one point almost everyone ran to the large window to watch the antics of people who have no clue how to drive in the snow! It was hilarious. The server we had was a little bit slow but that is the only negative part. Lot of room for families either children.

That's easy hamburger which comes out sizzling

Ate here yesterday and came back again changing our choices. This time we had the catfish and the pot pie. Both were delicious but different than yesterday. Yesterday I like the salmon better than the catfish but that's just because the catfish was fried. It was light flaky and delicious as well, I had the baked beans because they didn't have the squash... And our beans were cold so it was a slight difference in perfection, but they were still good. My friend had the pot pie and it was a very filling pot that had leftovers. It was delicious and creamy and plenty for even a guy. This time there were little details that could have been perfected, like the cold beans, but it was still a good value at $50 for incl tip for what we had. Yesterday the charred salmon was phenomenal. My friend had a cheesy burger that came out sizzling like a fajita. All of it was delicious Again if I visit here I will visit campfire grill.

Center cut steak (medium), mashed potatoes, & green beans

Long wait on a Saturday night, but well worth it. I got the center cut steak (medium), green beans, & mashed potatoes. I like supporting the local community, so I always buy a beer from the closest brewery. So in this case, it was a double IPA from Basic City, & it was amazing as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It was still looking the same as last time. A few dirty tables surrounding our table when we were seated. Staff were friendly. I got the buffalo chicken fries again. This time the chicken was trash 0/10. When I bit into all of them it was just air. No real meat. So they changed that or I got a bad chef that day. The burger was good 8/10. I loved the jalapeño jam on it! We waited for a while when we wanted our check. Was not a good vibe this time!! Pretty sure I won't be back! They also took the pork rind nachos off the menu.

The interior of the restaurant is very cool, reminds you of a cabin as soon as you enter the main area, the mason jars for glasses were neat too. The food was pretty decent for the price, but realistically I wouldn't come back here. The service was very very slow and they were only seating at half capacity the night we went. By slow I mean we walked in and didn't get sat for 10 minutes, then it took another 20 minutes for the server to even come take drink orders, drinks came out 10-15minutes later (just a Coke/pepsi and a sweet tea), then food took even longer, all in all, we spent nearly 2.5 hours in the restaurant for average food.

Wild Game Skillet. Blend of wild boar, elk, bison and wagyu.

I recall that last year I was able to get a screwball and Diet Coke, which was really yummy but this year I ended up with a green bold rock cider. I saw that they predominantly sell cans of wine, cans of beer and the occasional mimosa or bloody Mary, but no options for bar drinks or otherwise liquor options. They still offer some easy to grab snack snacks like Cheetos and Doritos The fire pit is still roasting and warm, and I will always continue to stop here in the future during our days on the slope I noticed that at the bottom towards the entrance of the slopes they have a new yacht pagoda like bar that they recommended for us to grab any cocktails :)

We went right back up, but then the disrespectful and sassy manager said now only 2 tubes together. Then, we went up for one more consecutive run, and he said only 1 tube!!! All within the course of 20 minutes... talk about a power trip. We explained to him how we were not comfortable going down alone and he told us to get over it. I then refused to go alone, so he made me walk down the treacherous and icy mountain.... Instead of calling for a snow mobile to come get me or pausing the lift to let me walk down the ramp. I was forced to walk down this huge mountain and almost fell several times while being stared at by all the other customers. This was humiliating. The only good part of the experience was that they gave us a full refund since they were ashamed of his behavior. The food and drinks at the lodge are crazy expensive and not good. A $15 breakfast burrito with low quality ingredients? No thank you. Very commercialized lodge. Not a nice ambiance. I would definitely not recommend.

I've always gotten the extra bread rolls I asked for with no judgment at all! We went here since it was close to the resort we were staying at and it was a great decision. The restaurant was packed due to Mother's Day but we were seated after a 30 min wait which we didn't mind. The dinner rolls were delicious as always. We got 2 16 oz NY strip steak dishes with mashed potatoes, fries, chili, and Caesar salad. We also got the steak kabobs which came with seasoned rice and fries. All the dishes were absolutely delicious and the portions were large enough for us to take home leftovers for extra meals!! Our server was kind enough to give us additional dinner rolls with the delicious cinnamon butter to take home. I will always rely on Texas Roadhouse for a great meal. My only complaint is the chili recipe has changed. It used to be "Texas style" chili meaning no beans were added and cubes of meat were used instead of ground beef which seems to have changed. They now have lots of kidney beans and ground beef in the chili which I will replace with another side when I visit next.

But I think I also ate way too many buttered rolls with their famous brown sugar butter. It's very loud because it's so crowded, but everyone is nice. I'm glad we came here for dinner and I'm even more glad I wore stretchy leggings lol.
