FeFe has owned this spot for a little over a year now and they are killing it! One of our favorite local spots to go with Suzie slinging drinks and Hannah providing the best service around! All the waitstaff do a good job. Prices are very reasonable for this fresh and local food! Blue Plate specials are great! I love the Wednesday night Meatloaf! We were referred to this place by a Staunton local. First time for us. We were pleasantly surprised. Greeted immediately upon walking in. We were told to sit anywhere we like. Staff were especially helpful and friendly. Food prices are typical and affordable. We chose to split the Club Sandwich. It was delicious and just the prefect size for two. We also tried the Jam Session Margarita. Susie (our server) was super friendly and spot on with service. We will DEFINITLY be back. Nice job folks ! read more

Updated review: country fried steak now comes with brown gravy bc apparently, according to our server, this is the Tuesday special gravy so it's easier to serve brown again on Friday instead of make new white gravy for the country fried steak. I saw that many of our friends on social media liked the place since it reopened so I have since been twice. With different people. It was some of the worst food I've ever paid money for. I wish I didn't have to say it, but Stanton deserves better than this. The fish sandwich was a piece of heavily pre-breaded frozen fish of some sort on a bun that was three times the size of this little Pre-breaded frozen piece of fish. What was so disappointing was I specifically asked the server is your fish fresh and she said yes. I don't think they should be telling anybody lies like that. Other folks I went with got Philly cheesesteaks in French dips that were the strangest meat they had ever tried to eat. The french fries are obviously the cheapest thing that a food service company delivers to them. They were horrible. The whole experience was really disappointing and the bill was huge for such a little bit of food that we were all able to eat I'm sure it's a fun place for music, but I would never recommend anybody eating there read more

We had heard so much hype about the reopening and were worried we wouldn't be able to find a seat for lunch but thankfully that wasn't a problem but lunch went downhill from there. My wife and I ordered the mushroom/swiss burger and the waitress asked us how we would like them cooked - I replied medium and my wife, medium rare. When they arrived they were cooked identical - overdone. The most tasteless burger I have ever had in my life - they were so dry, it was honestly difficult to swallow. It didn't resonate with me at the moment but the cheese was literally just like you just pulled it out of the fridge sitting on our burgers - how is that even possible ?? Cold and nasty burger ! My father had the french dip and it was just as bad. In all it was a huge disappointment that I am sorry to say definitely did not live up to the hype. We have a 3 strike rule on restaurants so we will probably give it another try eventually and can only hope there is a different cook next time ! read more

We've been coming to Marino's since they re-opened and have enjoyed every experience. Their new menu and vibe is exactly what the North End is missing. However, I went in around 4:00 on Friday for a beer on the way home and the place reeked of smoke. Not like the kitchen staff might be hitting one out back, like someone inside the restaurant was actively smoking. It was so overpowering that another women at the bar loudly commented, as I walked in, "why does it smell like weed in here". I don't mind the odor and understand it's legal, but would prefer not to have a drink in an ashtray. The bartender responded with "well some of our clientele...". I dismissed it as no big deal until a gentleman came from the back room to the bar with a pipe with weed in it in his mouth while he paid his bill. A few moments later an obviously more mature member of the staff stands in the door to the back room and says something like: No. don't do it inside. Or just let me know so we can step outside and do it together. It then became clear that she was complicit in the large group in the back smoking in/just outside the restaurant. I, like most people, prefer not to eat in an ashtray. Based on our prior experiences, I don't want to give one star, because our family has had great experiences there, but this time made me think twice about bringing my young children back, and this particular experience would absolutely merit a one star review. read more

They serve up handmade, most delicious burgers in Staunton and will cut up some fries or onion rings for you, too. But that's not the magic: the magic happens with the cheap beers and the music. Marino's hosts a bluegrass jam session every Tuesday night, and on any given Tuesday, you'll find professors, architects, truck drivers, or the newest breed, the "fahn yung thangs" of SVA. ...It's just as well; it's why I'm reviewing it. I want to let everyone get a piece of the pie! Everyone should git themselves a little bit of Marino's magic before you're too far to catch it. :) read more

Not really my kind of place to hang out so I called ahead to get it to go. The guy on the phone seemed pretty confused by the whole thing. I guess take out orders isn't something they do often but they did it for me. It's pretty basic with iceburg lettuce and american cheese. It was a really good burger...I wanted another one when i was finished. Seems pretty average just by looking at it but they loaded bacon on it and 2 slices of cheese. The patty itself is what made it, what's their secret i wonder. A man there introduced himself as Gus, he told me i should come in on a Tuesday night and order a gus burger. Menu is short but sweet food wise. Great selection of beer. Burger was cooked perfectly, juicy and reminded me of cooking on grill at home. Fries like everything is cooked to order and came out hot. What an enjoyable experience! I heard Tuesday night was live Bluegrass night and I also heard this place had good burgers, I was not disappointed. The burger was fresh made and tasty and the music scene was...not sure how to describe it. Imagine you walk into a musician's living room, you grab a seat and an ice cold beer, a few guys start picking on guitars, then more musicians show up and join in on the picking. It's a very informal setting where apparently anyone with an instrument can join in. If you like live music you need to check this place out on a Tuesday night. The music started somewhere around 6:30, but get there early because it's a small place with limited seating. This is a cool little joint and I'll definitely be returning. read more

Marino's is not closed, and is still jamming! Got an awesome burger here a couple weeks ago. Great people watching. There were some young dudes sitting at the bar, kind of out of place. Then we overheard them telling the locals that they were Dutch, came to the U.S., bought a van, and were touring the southern states. They'd gotten a recommendation to come to Marino's from someone at Made (a great store downtown Staunton). Marino's has changed hands and has the same feel but the beer selection is greatly improved with some local beers and good stuff on tap! They still have their super cheap options though. The place is awesome - like you stepped back in time a bit. We also had the burgers, on Christy"s advice, and they were something special! The group started playing 'bout 8:30 and the back room was rockin'!!! Far as we could tell it was just whoever showed up to play, and play they did! If you show up on a Tuesday night, you never know who may stop by to jam with the local musicians.Usually both rooms are packed with pickers,, harmonica players, maybe a washboard player or someone with a stand up bass!
