    Charcuterie, Colli Moscato

definitely recommend coming here! i came for my 21st birthday as a nice short celebration, and i was able to try their colli moscato, which tasted amazing. like most moscatos, it was very sweet and had hints of apple. we ordered a charcuterie board, and they are definitely not stingy with the cheese! i absolutely loved it here. the servers were so kind once they knew it was my birthday they surprised me and my girlfriend with two macarons-- which was the perfect sweet treat! i appreciated how quiet it was in there, but we did go there for lunch time. overall, i had a lovely experience and hope to return here soon!

Yelping Dog is one of my "dream about" restaurants. Whenever I am craving cheese, their Lady Bird grilled cheese is what I think of! While they are primarily known for their epic wine and cheese board selections their grilled cheese sandwiches can't be missed. Staunton is exactly halfway between our home in DC and my family in NC and knowing that Yelping Dog is our road trip stop makes the drive more exciting than unbearable. If you can, sit outside to enjoy live music from locals and visit their neighboring shop CFO Trading for amazing gifts for yourself or friends.

Great, friendly little wine bar in the historic district. Good selection of wines by the glass at reasonable prices. Their grilled cheeses are really excellent, I had two different ones while visiting Staunton. They also have a nice cheese and charcuterie selection, as well as a diverse offering of bottles. Highly recommend!

I wish this place was in my hometown! A wine bar with grilled cheese, cheese plates, and other charcuterie. The waitress was excellent and very knowledgeable. I ordered the cfo grilled cheese on her recommendation. I usually shy away from goat cheese (chevre) but this sandwich was the perfect meeting of melty, sweet, buttery, and crisp. The bottles for sale in the shop appear to be fairly priced (most between 20 and 30) and the atmosphere is both friendly and sophisticated. A gem for anyone who loves wine, beer, or cheese!

2 years later and still just as good! We still sipped on the Yelping Dog Viognier but this time we tried the Sophie for our sandwich. OMG. It was absolutely delicious. We also got the spicy apple crostini as recommended by Morgan and it was AMAZING

This is a great spot for great wine, craft beers and craft food!! Looking for a snack before a larger meal, here's your spot! Looking for a casual dinner with one of their amazing custom grilled cheese sandwiches? This is your spot too! We've been multiple times since they opened many years ago, originally as laughing dog, but had some issues with the name in CA, so regrouped and renamed. They are doing great work here. Cool vibes in this old Staunton building. Friendly and prompt service. Wonderful beverage and food choices. Definitely check them out! Now that it is Spring, outside seating is awesome too!! Check out my pics #deitzeatz on Instagram. Enjoy!

We stopped in Thursday February 5, 2026. The cozy space, complete with a locally painted on the wall, gives it a warm, welcoming feel. In speaking with the matrade we learned the name of the restaurant comes from the Native American word that has become Shenandoah. After 20 years in business it's clear this place has deep local roots. The staff was friendly and attentive. Kyle, our waiter, did a great job and worked seamlessly with his teammates to make the experience memorable. We started with cocktails -- my wife had the Sage Advice and I had a classic Manhattan. Proper cocktails for sure! The crème brûléed cornbread and sweet potato bisque were standout starters. Probably could have stopped eating after those starters...For mains, my wife loved the pork loin and I enjoyed the pan-seared trout. We finished with the banana mousse, which was absolutely amazing! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're passing through Staunton. definitely worth the stop.

It's a small restaurant so probably why they book up fast but it's nice inside. The bar is nice too. Staff were friendly. We did the crème brûlée cornbread for starters and then I got the ribs which were amazing. They came with fried rice which was good too. My friend got the beet salad, scallops, brussel sprouts, and spaghetti dish. All was delicious as well.

The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.

She said it was tasty and the sauce sublime. Overall, a must dine at historic restaurant in Staunton.
