Sept, 2025. Yokum's has a Grill and adjacent General Store, at the intersection of routes 33, 28, and 55 in Seneca Rocks, WV. Seneca Rocks is in the mountains, and attracts a variety of outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers, rock climbers, fishermen, campers, motorcyclists, and more. And, Yokum's, in business since 1923, and with a family history in the area since the 1830s, is THE hot spot to feed and supply visitors to this beautiful area. It's a casual and reasonably-priced kind of place with historical charm; there's a constant flow of visitors. The General Store offers pretty much anything you would need for a trip to the mountains -- from coonskin hats, to firewood, ice, pantry items, drinks, snacks, and West Virginia souvenirs (including t-shirts, refrigerator magnets, jams and jellies, and so much more). The Grill offers breakfast items (breakfast burritos, bagels, muffins), as well as typical grill items -- burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, pizza, wraps, etc. Of particular note, they've been named as having the state's "2nd best West Virginia-style hot dogs" on the "50 best hot dog trail." The Grill offers both indoor and a few covered front porch tables. We had, however, visited Yokum's for two very specific reasons -- (1) we had just hiked the Seneca Rocks Trail, and wanted to reward ourselves with ice cream! On that note, we found a freezer with all sorts of ice cream treats in the General Store. My husband opted for a pint of Hershey's Cappuccino Crunch premium ice cream. (We had a freezer for the unconsumed portion!), while I chose a Dove ice cream bar. We later realized that, based on reviews on Yelp, the Grill *might* have offered hand-scooped cones but we hadn't checked. (2) we heard that Yokum's has Wi-Fi, a luxury that wasn't available in the National Recreation Area nor anywhere else for at least ten miles. We were able to sit at one of the indoor tables near the Grill, enjoying our ice creams while utilizing the free wi-fi to send a few texts and to plug in some maps for the next leg of our journey. Also worth noting is that Yokum's has an excellent view of the Seneca Rocks rock formation, is in close proximity to the entrances for the Seneca Rocks Visitors Center and the main hiking trail, has easy access off nearby roads and sufficient free parking, offers a clean restroom, and has some large outdoor signs describing local outdoor attractions. Staff were efficient and friendly enough. Yokum's also runs Yokum's Vacationland, offering a variety of accommodations including cabins, bunkhouses, teepees, a motel, and a campground., as well as Yokum's Stables. I really wish I could give these guys 10 stars. A couple years back I got two flat tires up behind Spruce Knob where there is no cell service. I was able to patch one of the tires and then band-aid the other. I made it to here and they went out of their way to try and help me. They let me use their phones and wifi and really tried to help patch the tire, even called over some locals but the hole was just too big. It was a long and frustrating day, it took us almost 9 hours to get the car to Elkins and then to get back to our cabin. We always stop here for ice cream anytime we are in the area. There aren't a lot of options but this place has fantastic food and ice cream. Their hot dogs are rated #2 in the state for the official WV hot dog tour that took place a few years ago. Definitely worth a try. The cheese fries are really good, but not good for your figure haha. They have a huge convenience store with thing like milk that you can't get without driving 30-40 minutes. Lots of interesting local items such as honey and jams and jellies as well as some coffee. They also have a huge gift shop with locally made crafts and jewelry as well as shirts and hats and stickers, all the good stuff. Order yourself a hot dog and some ice cream and roam around the store and do some shopping. And if you can find the grumpy cat give him some love. read more

We make it a point to stop at this charming, busy spot every time we're in the area. Located right at the intersection of Rt 33, Rt 28, and Rt 55, it's an easy stop with an excellent view of Seneca Rocks--perfect for a quick break while taking in the scenery. The attached general store offers a great selection of local goods of West Virginia jams, jellies, salsa, wine, chocolate bars, and t-shirts, along with other classic general store finds. The grill is a casual place, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. It's often bustling, which speaks to its popularity. The menu features a variety of traditional grill options, including a couple vegetarian options, and everything is affordable without compromising on quality. Stopped here because it was the only place remotely close that was open. It's in the back of a store with a bit of everything in it. You order at the window then pay at the front and bring your receipt back. We each had burgers and shared an order of fries which were huge. The food was ok. Decided I should have ordered the chili dog which is one of the specialties which I didn't realize. They also serve beer if you're interested but you have to drink there. read more

Yokum's is a very cool country store with a restaurant attached. The restaurant offers basic American fare including burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and pizza. I had a fried chicken sandwich, which I thought was pretty good! And my husband had the WV chili dog, which he thought was very tasty! I thought the store part of Yokum's was way cooler than the restaurant part. They sell all sorts of pantry items, drinks, snacks and sundries too. You can find just about anything you need! They also have a bunch of souvenirs. The restaurant and shop were always busy when we stopped in. We came here quite a few times, since this was close to our AirBnb. It seemed like a hot spot for motorcyclists enjoying the mountain roads. read more

Bread sticks were decent. Got the steak sandwich and it might have day 2.5 ounces of steak. It was more of a cheese sub with alittle steak.

A few of us have been traveling West Virginia on the 50 best hot dog trail and all agree that this the 1st or 2nd best hot dog in WV. The hot dog has a good snap and the sauce, onion, mustard, and slaw combination is one of the best in WV. Don't make the same mistake we did and eat the place next door. This hot dog is 100x better. We would be happy to send people our list. It is substantially different than the original. Go to Yokum's to enjoy a great hot dog. read more

So a weird experience. Pizza was great, BLT wrap was good, build your own sandwich not so good. Pizza was a mushroom and cheese pizza. Great choice. Had very good flavor and came out hot. The weird: from where we sat I watched a lady smoking a cigarette cutting my pizza back in the kitchen. Is that a thing? Thankful I didn't find any ash on my pizza! The BLT wrap my daughter liked. Basic tortilla wrap but good flavor. My wife ordered the build your own sandwich. All of what she ordered was on the menu but the apparently need to update it. She wanted a turkey croissant but they don't have croissants nor turkey. The closest they could come was brown bread with ham or bologna. The cheese choice was Colby...and they gave her 1/2 a log on the sandwich. As a side note: don't change your order or the lady will get pissed at you. She has to rewrite it on a new sheet of paper each time! Apparently that is difficult? read more

Spent the weekend rock climbing at Seneca Rocks. Yokums Motel and Diner is located at the base of the rocks and a must stop while you are there... Here are some reasons to stop: 1. Only WiFi in a 10 mile area 2. Homemade potato candy at register 3. Seneca Rocks T-shirts and stuff 4. Amazing breakfast sandwich 5. Cute lil signs about hiking and climbing 6. Clean rooms above store 7. Walking distance to base of rocks 8. Nice people 9. Seneca beer 10. Great views I would give a 4.6 if that was an option! read more

We took a horse ride at Yokum stables to Seneca rocks and stopped by to eat at the restaurant and we got wraps (I got a BLT wrap and the wife got a grill chicken fajita wrap). They were off the hook!! Best wraps we ate they blew our minds with how good and fresh the food was. Kudos to The morning shift 7.29.22 ladies who prepared the food so perfect for us!! . We stopped by here on new year's day on our drive back to the DC area from Snowshoe. We ALWAYS stop here on our drive back home (and drive TO snowshoe as well, I might add). It occurred to me this last time on New Year's Day that I had never written a review. WE LOVE THIS PLACE. They have the best food for the best prices-BIG servings and just straight up delicious. It's particularly good when you are hungover (which, we were on New Year's Day....) They also have a fun store so you can look around while you wait for your food to be done (ours was maybe 10 minutes). My husband and and I each got the chicken tender wrap. Sooooo good. I got sweet potato fries with mine which were SPOT ON. Stop here. You will not regret it. read more

Came here and stayed at the motel. It was very nice. Had two sinks and used a regular key. I don't know why, but I loved the idea of the key. There were two beds and a little reclining chair in there. The beds were so comfortable too. Grabbed some from down stairs and passed out. read more

The place was packed with side by sides and tourists when we pulled in. The line moved quickly we ordered our food shopped around their store and our food was finished in no time it felt. I ordered the pulled pork bbq special they have with Mac and cheese and he order a burger with everything and onion rings. Food was delicious read more

We love this place. It is not the Ritz, so set your expectations accordingly. It is clean, welcoming, the little restaurant is good for a mom and pop shop - breakfast is REALLY GOOD! Rooms are large and cheap. They have all the amenities, plus some. The view cannot be beat! The shop is fun to browse for local WV products. Being the only gig in town, they don't take advantage of that with their prices - for anything! It is worth a visit. Close to Blackwater Falls and a ton of other little hidden WV gems. We have been here twice in 3 months and have just had so much fun. read more

Honestly shocked this place has such good reviews. The staff was NOT friendly whatsoever and those working when I came in seemed to absolutely hate their jobs. The place is convenient for quick grocery needs or WiFi, but I otherwise would not recommend. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but I did not feel welcome whatsoever. read more

Camped out at Seneca Shadows campgrounds over the weekend and stopped by Yokums for supplies and breakfast. I love the vibe of this general store and restaurant. No frills, just your family operated store with all your camping needs and freshly made breakfast and lunch. The interior is very bare, but then again, you do not need the ambiance of a modern restaurant in the wilderness. The breakfast is very reasonably priced and they have a decent selection of choices such as bagels, breakfast burritos, and muffins. For lunch they serve sandwiches. Nothing out of the ordinary, but after a long day of hiking or climbing, having a meal made for you feels amazing. Another critical aspect of this place is that it has free wifi. You typically lose any phone signal within 15 miles of the campgrounds, so if you need to check any maps of the surrounding areas, this is the place to go. This is also the only supply store and restaurant within 30 miles of Seneca Rocks. read more

Family and community friendly restaurant. Ate here 3-4 times during a camping and hiking trip to the area this past week. We ate here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of food for price and it was really good. Ice cream on waffle cone is excellent! Only reason for 4 stars is they end up getting flies in the store/restaurant, so that can be a little annoying when you are eating. However, it's hard to keep them out because this store and restaurant is so busy. It's used by a lot of locals and travelers passing through the area. read more
