I have been coming to Broadway Vision Source for years now. Dr. Nakatsu is a joy! He is warm, compassionate and quick to laugh and smile. Of all my healthcare providers, I find he is the most open, accessible and respectful to me as a patient and a person. Dr. Nakatsu is a gem. Additionally, their opticians are THE BEST! They are the most helpful, patient and stylish. If I am looking for a specific "look", immediately, they all know what frames to bring to me for that look. Their knowledge of frames, lenses and even insurance are the best that I've ever experienced, and I've been wearing glasses for over 30 years. I've worked with John the past few times I've picked out frames. He is always supportive, honest and patient with me, as I try on multiple frames. He gives his complete, 100% attention to me and makes me feel as though I'm the most important person he's seen that day. John, and everyone else in this office, are amazing. read more

I've been a patron of BVS and a patient of Dr. Matsunami for roughly 20 years. Need I say more. Competitive pricing, exceptional customer service, wide selection, and a staff member with an uncanny ability to pair you with the frames that compliment and suit you. Thanks Warren! I'd be remiss to neglect mentioning the indelible and recently retired Sandra for years of extraordinary customer service upon walking through BVS doors year after year. read more

I haven't gotten any exams here, but they have a better variety of frame brands that would work with my VSP insurance. I stepped in and was immediately greeted by the receptionist and told to sign in if I wanted to look at frames with staff because they are locked up. Fair enough. In their location, I can see why they'd be concerned with theft. I was told that I am welcomed to look around so I proceeded to do so. I was minding my own business when a smug salesperson next to me turned my way and said "I'm currently working with someone but if you'd like to see some frames please sign in at the front desk". It really got under my skin and made me feel super unwelcomed. It would be different if I had asked him to grab something for me... I told him "I am signed in" and continued to wait for 20 minutes. The layout of the store is also very cramped. I left before they called my name. I'm not interested in only being able to try on frames with a predatory salesperson breathing down my neck, likely trying to close the sale. read more

This is a great, pleasing, professional place to get glasses! I recently needed to get new prescription glasses because of so much reading and computer work (and advancing age, too ....) and did some research on local eyeglass shops. After getting checked out by my eye doctor and finding out exactly what I needed, all of the signs pointed towards Broadway Vision. I checked out their website - which is very informative and well designed - with a goal of seeing what kind of selections they had. So many eyeglass places don't seem to carry large selections when you're in the mood to change your "look," as I was. Well, Broadway Vision definitely does have a great selection! My first visit there went so well, and everyone was so nice and professional, that I couldn't wait to pick up the new glasses - which were ready as they promised a few days later! I ended up getting two pair; one for regular use, and another built for intense computer use ... and they're GREAT! I LOVE my new glasses, the drastically-reduced strain on my eyes, and the new look they give me! They have a staffer there named Warren who is probably the most knowledgeable person on eyeglass frames in the world, and a very cool guy, too! He helped another staffer and I pick out the best types of frames for my head and face (no small task), made sure the new frames were measured and fit right, and answered all of my questions. I was extremely pleased with the new eyeglasses, the service, and the friendliness of the staff. If you need a new prescription and/or a new pair of glasses, Broadway Vision is THE place to go in Seattle - HIGHLY recommended! read more

Achtung: their glasses lenses are only good for a year. Broadway Vision was my neighborhood glasses shop, so I went to them for ten years. But we have an unresolved issue now. These nice guys put in the lenses for most recent frames (Liz Claiborne), which after a year became so crazed and foggy that I could no longer see. I was working so much I didn't realize at first what was going on, just figured I was going blind. When I finally saw the crazing on both my lenses, I went back to BVS. Had to buy an identical replacement pair from them, frames and lenses, many hundred$, in order to get the first pair fixed. I requested no weird coatings that might craze. A year or so later, one of the glasses had the same crazing. I brought it back to BVS. BVS replaced the lenses this second time but warned me they would never fix the problem again! They never fixed the problem period! Now I am traveling in Europe and just realized that the left lens in the sole pair of glasses I have with me is crazed. I can't even read signs across the street (but again thought I must be going blind--you don't expect your glasses to fail, even after two times). read more

I followed Warren here from his previous location and he NEVER disappoints. I am kind of small so I need small glasses, which are not really in fashion. He ordered a ton of cute small frames for me to try. Since I've known him (many years now), I have had the same experience with him over and over again. I walk in, he picks out a frame and it looks perfect on me. I then insist on trying a few more, but his initial pick is always where I land. And he is a lovely person. read more

I wish I could give it zero. I called to make an appointment one week before my visit. Anna answered and asked about all my information like insurance number and SSN, and she told me that I'm all set. But when I arrived, they told me my slot was occupied by someone else. I went a long way to get there, but they simply shamelessly asked "do you want to schedule another day?" Damn, of course not! How can you trust a vision shop to hand your eyes when they cannot even handle an appointment?! read more

Love this place! Warren is a true artist at what he does; great eye for not only which frames look great for your face shape, but also considers which frames work best with your personality, and how you are wanting to express yourself. Also we found a frame that worked in record time, so we had a chance to just visit for a bit. Wonderful experience overall. Everyone from the desk staff, assistants, docs etc were pleasant and welcoming. I know I could get less expensive frames online or whatever, but at least these guys do it right; $ well spent. read more

Overall I was very disappointed with my experience at Broadway Vision Source. I will have to find a different optometrist. The reason I will not go back is not because of the doctor. Dr. Matsunami was very nice and seemed like an experienced doctor. The reasons I am not going back is because of the front staff. They are very nice but seem very disorganized. The wrong contacts were ordered through their office then the wrong prescription was faxed for another order. I wish ordering was as simple as it was at my optometrist's office in another city. read more

Dr. Matsunami seems like a good doctor but recently I was in I was not getting his attention, he was not answering my questions, he seemed distracted and unhappy like he lost his best friend or something. The new doctor seems more energetic.. read more

've been going to Broadway Vision Source for over three months now and still have no contacts to show for it. I've had 4 eye exams and they have ordered three different pairs of contacts for me. They keep telling me how hard it is to fit contacts on a person with a astigmatism, which is true to an extent but I've been wearing contact for 16 and never had this kind of trouble getting a pair. With one pair my eye sight was so bad that they made my nauseas from the double vision. They actually asked me to take them home for a week and wear them to see if they would "relax". They aren't jeans, they don't relax. I was too sick to wear them for 15 minutes let alone at least an hour a day for a week. Today was the last straw. I have to try on yet another pair of contacts, but they lost them. They lost them! I would have already cut my loses and gone someplace else but they have used up all the insurance I have for eye care for the year, making my only option to stick with them and hope the get it right eventually because I don't have the money to start from scratch with another doctor. I am going to urge my insurance company to take them off their provider list because of their incompetence. read more

the staff are very friendly and helpful. the optomotrists there are very professional and thorough. my only complaint is the amount of time you must wait before you are seen. the last few times i have been there i had to wait 40 minutes into my appointment time before i could meet with the doctor. this second time, i took off from work in the middle of the day and had an appointment scheduled for 11:45. i was told this appointment would last no more than 5 minutes (it was just a follow up for some contacts i bought) and i had to wait an additional 20 minutes before i was seen. so, aside from this, its a great place. read more

My husband and I had a terrible experience at Broadway Vision Source today! First, our appointment was at 9:30, so we arrived there at 9:20 (as they asked to do) and the office was CLOSED, making us wait on the street, in the rain. The receptionist saw us earlier, but she just opened the door at 9:30! After that she gave us a lot of papers to fill, including information and number of our insurance, what, in my view, is the receptionist's role, but that was ok. The doctor (actually the nurse) called me at 9:50, 20 minutes late. The doctor was nice, did the exams and gave me a new eyeglasses prescription. After the doctor consultation the receptionist charged me the fee and so I asked her about my prescription, she answered they have frames to sell, and I said I was not interested and only wanted my prescription. I explained her I had other appointment and was in a hurry. I waited about 5 minutes, so she asked my email (THAT WAS IN THE FORM I FILLED) to send my prescription. I went to my other appointment (which I lost because I arrived late, of course), so I decided to return there to pick the prescription. The receptionist referred us to the man responsible for the prescriptions: ONE OF THE SELLERS, so he was trying very hard to sell us a frame, ignoring what we said: we are not interested in the frame, we just want the prescription! He asked one more time about our appointment fee, we said we had paid, and he called, in front of us, to the receptionist to check if we had paid. He gave us the prescription and continued saying that it was less expensive for us to by the frame there (and I said it was time to GET OUT OF THERE). Summarizing the story: about 1 hour and 20 minutes there, trying to have an appointment and to get my prescription (and have the right to buy my frame wherever I want!). The doctor was very good, but because of the ridiculous service by the receptionist and frame sellers we'll never return there, and I strongly recommend you stay away from there! read more

I need some glasses. This place is in my neighborhood, and I used them when they were in a different location, so I swung by the other day to look at frames, intending to order two pairs of glasses. I already have the prescription. Clearly, that kind of business is not what these folks are about. Merely to look at frames, I had to sign in and wait for someone to help me. I've looked at high-end jewelry and not faced such high security - every single pair of frames they have here is locked up tight. Nonetheless, I did wait, about 10 minutes, for someone to help me. When that person arrived, I explained what I was looking for. He made no eye contact but said he would be happy to help, then walked to the back of the store and got a pair of glasses out of a cabinet. He then gave those glasses to and began to work with another customer, who had walked in after me, but was clearly there to pick up. I thought he was wanting me to follow him as he walked about the store to look at frames, but he kept helping other people (another guy who came in after me). It was clear he wasn't listening to anything I said, and I felt like an idiot following him around waiting for help only to be completely ignored. Finally I said, "I'm confused." He said, "Well, I'm trying to help two people at once." Yeah, two people who aren't me, but thanks for nothing. Based on other reviews, this might be a good place if you need the whole show - exam, etc., but I just need glasses. They are clearly not into walk-in traffic. I'm not sure why, but I wish they'd just said that when I came in. If that's what you're looking for as well, save yourself the time and trouble. read more
