Wire frames but the over the ear part are covered in a removable, plastic cover. Sadly, my kitten got of hold of and bit one of the ends off. They were able to secure a replacement part for me immediately and had me in on the same day to fix so the thin wire wouldn't dig into the side of my head. Frame prices are extremely reasonable as well, not like other opticians who jack their frame prices up 700%. My favorite optician ever!

So now, I owe them $400+ because I was under the impression my insurance would cover. Then made me pay $80 to do a laik consultation so they can refer me, which the lasik place they referred me is also required to and does for free so I wasted my time and money. If you want lasik, just reach out directly to the lasik place.

(Also rejects nearly every insurance especially those most likely to be held by the disabled or elderly and their dependents) My ears are still ringing from the anti-disability dog whistles. (It's called income source discrimination and it's a real thing companies do to make disabled individuals feel unwelcome without obviously breaking anti-discrimination laws) They get so annoyed and dodgy about insurance questions that I get the impression they wouldn't accept any insurance at all if it would guarantee they'd keep the poors out. Brett likes to claim he doesn't accept some insurance because of "the evil luxoticca monopoly". However, he doesn't accept VSP attached to children's Medicaid plans, so that's a dishonest excuse used to bury/obscure the dog whistle. Furthermore, they can't take criticism AT ALL. A quick glance at the combative responses from the owner to negative reviews on google can confirm this to anyone paying attention (but there's not many negative reviews there because including mine he somehow masks/suppresses them) I suggest Vision Plus of Ballard that accepts VSP associated with both Medicare Advantage plans for the disabled and Medicaid for the dependents of the disabled.

They kindly take my insurance, VSP Vision Care from Cigna, and I was able to pick out the glasses I wanted and add blue-light protection and green-tinted transition lenses to my grayish-greenish frames, all for ~$200 after insurance. I was helped by Rebecca Rogerson, LDO, to set up my eye appointment, and she also helped me choose my frames. Another sales Representative, Emerald, helped me with payment processing and adding the transition tint to my glasses. Emerald also helped answer a few more of my questions as they came up. Really enjoyed both of my interactions with Emerald and Rebecca, they're straight and to the point, no-nonsense, and are quick and efficient when helping you. Each visit, other than my exam appointment, I was in and out in about 10 minutes. They are quick. My only gripe is Dr. Sylvie Pham, O.D. She was a little cold, and although she was quick and efficient, she seemed a little bothered if you asked too many questions. She seemed to want to rush you out the door. Regardless, I'd say that for the price, I'd highly recommend this place if you have VSP and are looking for nice options for your exam and your next pair of glasses. I'll be back for my next pair of glasses, as I am opting to purchase frames on my own and add my prescription lenses afterward. Have been back a few times since my purchase to have another pair of glasses adjusted, as they had gotten loose. They have been so helpful in continuing to care for the ones I bought, plus help me with my old ones purchased elsewhere. You can tell they really care about their customers, and I appreciated that. The location gets busy, and you may have to get through a few gritty areas near the shop, but there is also plenty of parking nearby if you need it. There are also a few bus stops down the street, and other lines a few blocks away. The shop is blocks away from the Cap Hill rail line as well.

Scheduling required weeks of advance planning; in-person waits were long; while my doctor was lovely, the contact lens fitters constantly rotated into the practice and so there was feeling of never getting to know someone. It was... fine, I guess? When this same office moved to requiring separate days for the contact lens fitting and the annual check-up, it was the catalyst I needed to search for an alternative. Two friends happen to see Dr. Lo at Eye Clinics QA. I seamlessly transferred my records and easily made an appointment. The first time I visited the clinic, my exams went quickly and smoothly. Dr. Lo listened to my very nuanced concerns, had me try out a newly-tweaked prescription, and it made all the difference in the world. My second annual appointment with him this year was no different (only it was moved to the Ballard location, as this one is still being renovated!) I cannot recommend this office, this doctor, and this experience enough. My only regret is not finding them sooner. Thank you Dr. Lo and team!

My experience with this office leaves me a $300 conundrum to deal with because I had my lenses done somewhere else. I presume all these good reviews stem from the automated rating email the office sends after the office visit. Let me be clear, only the vision in one of my eyes changed, a little bit, and not since 2008 Most expensive first: 1. 2 lenses in glasses that are wrong because she wrote the prescription wrong. 2. Requested a copy of the RX 3 times and every time it was different 3. Contacted them for another exam because it was obvious the sample contact was really wrong. 4. She wanted to investigate the contact fitting -- I said no, re do the exam. I can't believe she wanted to attribute a clear vision error with a contact. I'm 36 and wearing daily contacts religiously since 24. read more

I am sorry I do not have ten stars to rate for Columbia Vision! Myself and my family (two sons and wife) think the world of the service they provide us. All four of us get the the kind of TLC that means so much when you are dealing with something as precious as the eyes. Last month I had cataract surgery in both eyes and the referral from Dr Jean was absolutely the best medical encounter I have ever had. My distance vision is 20/20! The team of Dr. Jean, Anna, and Jami will always a big hug and thank you from me and my family for being so caring! I've been going to Columbia Vision Center for over 10 years now--they are absolutely fantastic! The staff and Dr. Hua are a true pleasure to work with. I've needed eye correction since kindergarten, so have had my experience with optometrists, and Dr. Hua is the best--thoughtful, caring, and of course extremely knowledgeable. The Center has provided great care not only for me but for my family as well. They are true professionals, not only looking out for the health of our eyes but overall health as well, and providing sound advice as far as taking advantage of what our insurance plan covers and when. Dr. Hua is fantastic. Not only was she thorough, but her whole manner and professionalism were very reassuring. Dr. Hua did a complete exam and they also helped me pick out the perfect frames for sunglasses. I took a lot of time deciding, tried on a million pairs, but came back to the ones they recommended initially. Their selection is excellent. Furthermore, when I considered Lasik surgery, Dr. Hua was able to educate me and refer me to someone she knows well. Now, I no longer need contacts or glasses, but I still go back to Dr. Hua for checkups and just to say hello as she is a lovely person with a top-notch staff. read more

I went to Columbia Vision Center for an eye exam and new glasses on the recommendation of my husband who got the same there last year. Dr. Hua and the entire staff were great! Dr. Hua was very thorough and professional, and explained everything she did and her conclusions. The staff was very helpful with frame selection. I got frames for my regular glasses as well as for prescription sun glasses, and the staff took the time to calculate how best to apply my insurance benefits to the two pairs so that my payment was as low as possible. Dr. Hua and her staff were very competent and professional. I have worn glasses since I was 10 years old and for years have had very strong myopia that makes me completely dependent on them. I had tried contact lenses briefly some years ago but with not good results. I decided to try them again and Dr. Hua and her staff provided me with very good options. My situation is a bit unusual in that I don't live in Seattle but was visiting when I made my appointment with Columbia Vision Center. Columbia Vision Service is the best place to get your glass's. So.... I did not get my glasses here however, this place is closer to my work and I needed an adjustment really bad. I went in to the shop and first it took ahile for anyone to greet me. When they did, they said be there soon. I waited....and waited.... then I said I didnt get them here and she looked at me and said "oh, ok.." very rude! I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. Exceptionally dedicated professionals. They constantly exceed expectations. I have purchased many pairs of glasses at Columbia Vision Center and they have all been great. I have a pretty complicated prescription, and when I did have to go back in with one pair that I thought were "off," they found another lens manufacturer that they thought could accommodate the prescription better. Friendly tech took me back. Then I met with Dr. Lawson. She was kind & thorough. She explained everything so well and patiently answered any questions I had no matter how silly or small.
