I came here for the first time yesterday for an eye exam after a life time of not needing glasses. The staff was so helpful teaching me what I should look for in a pair of glasses, and the eye exam went by really quick and pain free. My only note is it would be helpful to make sure things are getting consistently communicated through the team. I had to mention several times that I wasn't coming in with glasses, and this was a vision change. Would have been nice to not repeat myself so many times. Dr. Hua explained every single step of the exam, and provided more information than I've ever received - and I didn't have to ask for it first! This was my first visit to Columbia Vision Center. I changed insurance companies and was feeling uneasy about changing eye doctors. That feeling evaporated the minute we walked in the door. The receptionist and two other team members greeted me warmly and sincerely. I had completed forms online (bonus points for their pre-appointment organization and responsiveness) and my remaining paperwork was ready to sign. The doctor came out for me exactly on time and began a thorough, unrushed exam. She listened to me and respected my experience and opinions about my own vision care. Best of all, the technician/salesperson who helped me choose frames welcomed and engaged with my teenager, who had tagged along to "supervise". They have embraced and accommodated me and my indecisiveness when it comes to frame selection. since I work next door I have been known to stop in and browse frames frequently and each time I find a very pleasant conversation and vibe from any of the team. It's so great now all of my kids go there, even though it's no where near home or their schools. Their variety of designers and and frame types always seems to match my taste. Columbia Vision is the best! I've been coming here for a few years now and have never had any complaints; they always answer my questions and offer suggestions that can save me money. For example, last fall I had already used my vision benefits at work but needed a new set of frames and wanted to buy a particular set out of pocket to replace my primary pair that I lost, they found a budget pair that looked similar for about 1/3 the price, saving me a few hundred dollars. The location is conveniently located in the Columbia Tower, their responses to email or web inquiries are quick, and the office staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I have residual double vision and a wrinkle on one of my retinas from an accident 5 years ago, and she diligently monitors the damage to make sure it are not getting any worse. Dr Jean Hua is nice, professional and I like her staff a lot. She listened but I left her office frustrated because she measured my eyes fine, but she did not give me any solution, nor figured it out why my vision continues to get worst. She gave an x-ray and determined I do not have cataracts which I felt relieved, charged $39 extra. Eventhough I told her I had a deviated nose, sinus, she did not connect that eye is connected to nose. Dr Hui called next day to tell me she will give me an EyeMed referral for contact lense fitting that she charged me in advance. I suggested her to get connected to a researcher from Spain sent info via email clearsightmethod.com/wake-up-your-eyes, you tube video. I hope she is open minded. I asked her if there are ways to clean the eyes, then she recommended ocusoft lid scrub plus. I heard her saying she took like 1 hour with me, again most doctors want to be too quick and do not give you advices unless you ask, showing you are not Special. read more
