They don't tell you what insurance they take on their website and so you provide your insurance information to them in person and they wait until after the exam to let you know they don't take your insurance. So now, I owe them $400+ because I was under the impression my insurance would cover. Then made me pay $80 to do a laik consultation so they can refer me, which the lasik place they referred me is also required to and does for free so I wasted my time and money. If you want lasik, just reach out directly to the lasik place. read more

Ignored my husband's SPECIFIC OD issue and centered the lenses twice, even though his nose is CLEARLY offset and we talked about it WITH the guy who measures the OD in the frames, on his face! We didn't give them a third chance. MY lenses' prescription were so wrong I couldn't read with them. I have an astigmatism in one eye- I need working glasses. Having to come back more than once, for both of us, simply was not worth the boutique pricing. I had two different optometrist appointments that year. MOST disgustingly, they waited two years to start spam e-mailing me. I didn't consent to this! This isn't acceptable, but WOW the slow-walk email marketing just reminds me of the total and complete ineptitude on every front. Rage! - that was mean: they knew about the appointments, so not completely inept. Just in the ways that really, really matter. read more

What a wonderful experience! Eye doctor was amazing, listened to all my questions and answered them. Partnered with me to get a very very good prescription. Also, he helped me get into a new brand of contacts that were even better than my previous brand I've been using for 25 years (which the past two years I was struggling with because of how that brand handled bi-focal lenses). This shop is incredible! I came in looking for a frame for a Neurolens prescription from another clinic and was blown away when I walked in--they have literally thousands of frames and their selection is the most unique I've ever seen (lots of super fun frames!). A very kind gentleman helped me out, and he really knew his stuff when it came to frames, face shapes, and aesthetics. He gave me fantastic advice on what would suit me best, and it made the whole experience super easy and genuinely enjoyable. Pros: -It's efficient. -They were clear that while they were willing to bill my VSP insurance, my consult for glasses + contact rx would be 160 OOP. In theory with VSP reimbursing me about $40 later on. Still no word on reimbursement but, insurance does take a while. Cons: -They're not a VSP preferred provider. - The oddities of capitalism. While Dr. Louie was very patient with my inability to distinguish between one lens change and another. She visibly rolled her eyes when I asked for my pupillary distance and said "Well, we'll give it to you if we really *have* to. But, most of the time we only give it to you if you're buying glasses here." Is that even legal? How does that not count as part of a prescription? Literally not a single optometrist in 4 states over the last decade has tried to hold on to a sale via being weird about PD. While I did have full intention of checking out their frames here prior to that comment, after that comment, yeah, I too was a little eye rolly. If I pay $160 OOP, I'd rather skip the weird dance of "You're not just going to order those online are youuuuuu?!" In a meta-way none of it is fair. The markup the major frame supplier charges independent companies - unfair. The markup individual stores have to charge people to survive in a mostly post brick&mortar world - unfair. The weird pricing structure and misrepresentation between what vision coverage is and what people actually often end up paying - totally unfair. But, weirdly, I'm not an omnipotent god capable of fixing capitalism- so, I just want my PD man. It's not like I want to short you money. I just pay money into the insurer, so, yeah I do think it's reasonable to use the insurer provided web portal for ordering my things - it extends me the maximum benefit. Yeah, I might eventually order glasses online. Or I might come back to your store because I haven't found something I like online. The options were about equally likely until the weirdness. This is not the type of world anymore where carefully guarding a prescription or its PD is going to assure you more business. Bonus thought: Since frame shopping is appointment only in this weird COVID world, it would have been nice to know when booking the original appointment that if I wanted to buy frames here I needed to schedule an extra appointment just for that. Or, maybe just ask people when they're booking to begin with. "Do you want just an eye exam? Or do you want to also have time to shop for frames too?" Either way, it is done. Will I come back here? Probably not. I prefer someone who equally acknowledges we live in a weird modern world where we still need optometrists but, don't necessarily need lens purchases coupled to them. From the first phone call with Gina to my latest visit with Briar, Eye Eye has been an eyeopening and amazing experience. Gina is a very thorough, knowledgeable professional who got me scheduled, reviewed my insurance plan/pricing, set correct expectations, and used electrical tape as makeshift repair so that my broken frames are temporarily wearable. The optometrist assistant had a great sense of humor and was very courteous. Dr. Abiva made my visit well worth it. With professional sense of humor she explained everything about my eye changes and needs. Michael, the optician was helpful as he took the time to explain frames, lenses, prices, wrote out my measurements, and recommended local repair shops since I was interested in reusing my broken frames. When I returned with an online-purchased frame Briar's amazing personality, patience, caring, and thoughtfulness made the experience dignified and lighthearted. He also wrote me measurements numbers for reading lenses, and the Medicare discount that Michael quoted me was what I received. P.S. The owner, an optometrist, was also at the front desk and I thought he was an assistant. He was behind a desk talking with clients, answering their questions, and addressing their specific needs! I am looking forward to receiving and getting fitted with my new prescription lenses and frames asap. Eye Eye matched with employees who were more my personality! They genuinely care for you and your eyes. The clinic itself is very modern, chic, and most importantly, clean! They have a pretty good selection of glasses and sunglasses, and I was really happy with my eye exam. Eye Eye: this is a beautiful store and I really appreciate their selection of glasses and sunglasses. HOWEVER: I'm leaving a two star review because I made an appointment for an eye exam after reading on their website that they accept my insurance (United). The clinic is busy, and I had to book 2+ weeks out for my exam. Upon arrival, I was told that Eye Eye does not accept United for eye exams, only for "medical" treatment. It was a very frustrating experience, and I feel like the staff was indifferent to my situation- both staff members were defensive and nobody apologized for the confusion created by their website. I understand that insurance is complicated- it should be the clinic's responsibility to check on coverage before the appointment. Ok, I wanted to start this review while the experience was fresh in my mind. I just called to check and make sure they take my insurance. Not only did the receptionist look up my insurance and verify that I had a visit to use, but she told me what the contact fitting fee would be so I'd know what I'd have to pay. She also let me know that my insurance wouldn't cover frames but their office could help me get affordable frames. You guys, IS THIS REAL LIFE????? Is this the healthcare we've dreamed about? With professionals who see patients not as walking bags of money but as human beings with poor eyesight and bills to pay? I'll leave you with that cliffhanger and report back after my appointment this week! .... Ok, I'm back. Guys, this is the coolest optometrist office ever! We're talking Lisa Frank clipboard! Gag-worthy frames! Ok, now to the important stuff. I really liked my eye doctor. He was efficient and thorough, asking me about my eye history, my contact habits, and how I felt about my glasses. It's been a few years since my last eye appointment so we did all the tests and the eyedrop thing that dilates your pupils and then I was sent on my way with a pair of disposable sunglasses, a printout of my prescription (maybe it IS time for new frames!), and two pairs of contacts to try out. He reassured me that since I have an abnormal eye issue, I'd qualify for yearly visits with my insurance. Sweet! I'm also grateful for how straightforward my doc was. I asked him if he had contacts that were rated for sleeping in and he told me it's best to stop wearing my contacts to sleep altogether. This is true and all of us who sleep in our contacts know it! I asked about macular degeneration and he gave me a great explanation of what happens to our eyes as we get older, emphasizing that having healthy habits overall is the best way to take care of them. Love this place and the no-bullshit approach. Oh yeah, the whole visit was $30 due to a contact fitting. And even that is a better price than other businesses have! read more

I've been relying on Eye Eye for 4+ years for both eye exams and glasses purchasing / repair. Every member of the staff has been courteous and competent. Most of the times Dr. Pentecost was my Optometric Physician, but I have also had an appointment with Dr. Louie. Would highly recommend both, you can't go wrong with folks over there. I unfortunately don't remember the names of everyone in the staff who helps us out in the front desk, glasses repair and glasses purchase, but they're all really nice people and very efficient. They're also being careful and properly following proper protocols for operating during a pandemic. Really nice staff that doesn't push new glasses on you. I went for an eye exam and the doctor was much more knowledgeable than I expected. I have an eye condition that is rare with no real treatment but she seemed to know all about it and highlighted the damaged areas on my pictures. Nothing new to treat outside of what I already do but so nice to know she understood the condition for working me. I also really liked her and her bedside manner. She didn't pressure me to dilate my eyes since they are very sensitive to the process. They also don't charge extra for the digital imaging like my Portland clinic did. read more

Stumbled upon Eye Eye while looking for a place that could fix my sunglasses. These guys were awesome. The store was very busy but they greeted me right away and made my issue a priority. Byron (may have gotten his name wrong) was incredibly polite and professional - fixed my sunglasses in seconds and even checked to make sure the fit was good after the repair. I have come to learn that Eye Eye does not charge for simple repairs like mine, which is just awesome. The store is fantastic and I was super impressed with the selection of sunglasses available. Surprisingly, I've decided to review this eye clinic based on what they DIDN'T do. They didn't try to upsell me on fancy, expensive diagnostic procedures that cost extra. They didn't use outdated procedures that required dilation or a lot of obnoxious waiting around. They didn't disrespect my preferred name or my gender identity. They didn't take longer than necessary for the exam itself. After my exam, they didn't make me ask for my printed prescription, and they didn't give me a hard sell on their in-house eyewear or have any problem with me preferring to just get my glasses made at Zenni. And they didn't use my insurance as a reason to try to scam me into spending more money on goods or services that I didn't want or need. Basically, they didn't do any of the things that eye clinics are notorious for - instead they gave me a thorough yet concise examination and made me feel respected in every possible way. I can't believe how much I loved this place. I had my first eye appointment in Seattle with Dr. Pentecost when I finally ran out of my supply of contacts. It's always a good sign when you can have a dialogue with your doctor. Dr. Pentecost was thorough, and I feel like I learned so much about the health of my eyes during our session! And I have to agree with the review by J S. below. I was given a copy of my prescription without having to ask, and it was a great feeling. Is that a normal thing, or have I only ever been to eye clinics where I was never given a copy?? Eye Eye also has a pretty nice selection of trendy frames; they were just out of my current price range. I have never had an easier experience at the eye doctor! Dr. Volland was amazing and I'd highly recommend him. He described every vision test he ran in thorough detail and went over all the results right there with me. My insurance even covered the eye exam so I didn't wind up with a co-pay. As a trans person, I would say that this location is trans-friendly. Their new patient forms include a space for you to write your preferred name. After handing over my paperwork, both the receptionist and Dr. Volland began to refer to me by my preferred name without slipping up. Although I expected they might have trouble with my preferred pronouns (which I included next to my preferred name), they did not and respectfully addressed me by my preferred pronouns as well. read more

The guy took my glasses and told me to come back the day after to pick it up. He saw I was hesitating and then told me if I don't mind waiting 15 min. He can fix them after they close. He did! The screw on my sunglasses became loose and the frame was unbolted. This was a gift from a relative. I brought this disassociated pair to EYE EYE and asked to purchase a small screw. The optometrist repaired my sunglasses and gave me the screw for free! I felt grateful and at awe of the quality of service that EYE EYE provided. Note, I was a previous client of theirs not too long ago and the experience was stellar. I returned due to the great experience, just to be reminded that it didn't change. So impressed with the friendly staff and Dr. Will. Not only are they welcoming but extremely accommodating. Appointment time was 3:45pm, traffic was beyond horrible, exceptionally horrible....... i called 3 times to let them know I was still in traffic but was on my way. They still fit the appointment in. Whenever I've asked Dr. Will questions during my exam, he's been more than happy to explain to me and educate me on whatever I'm asking regarding my eyes,, his assessment or the exam as a whole.. I have only great things to say about Will, Milli and David after putting them through three rounds of lens swaps while I moved from normal to progressive lenses. In short, I became "that customer" who insisted on taking them up on their return-until-you-are-satisfied guarantee on new lenses. I'm 48 and started to notice last year that I couldn't read a menu in a dark restaurant without having my glasses at the end of my nose. Fast forward to my visit to Dr. Pentecost and he correctly prescribed me progressives. Always in search of the perfect solution, I put his team through the trouble of trying progressives, duo and hard-lined bifocals before returning to (you guessed it) the original progressives. At no time did they make me feel like a difficult customer (I did that myself) and there was never talk of the expense of their time and effort. In fact, it was the opposite. They all listened, explained and took feedback while I tried all three lens types over the course of about 3 months. I'm now back with my progressives (which are the best solution, given my changing eyeballs) and I couldn't be happier. Plus, they're just good people to be around. I'm a customer for life. read more
