I have a lot of eye problems and they have worked with me through all of them including diagnosing a problem that resulted from another doctors care; not his problem but Dr Greg called others to figure out what went wrong with my eye surgery. OUTSTANDING Experience. These folks are THE BEST! Super cordial, efficient and about 1 week to receive my new glasses.

Dr. Greg Chin is the only guy I trust these eyeballs to. He's also the only guy that can understand when I say that it's hard for me to put contacts in, that I really mean it. Stoopid tiny eyes. This clinic (don't confuse them for similarly named places) is right on Jackson St. in the ID. They have their own free parking lot, which is north one block, uphill. Enough of a hill for me to get a workout in when I get my eyes checked. This isn't a fancy place, and they don't need to be. Generations of families have been coming to see his dad and now him. But they always have the latest eye-testing gadgets--which means that they're putting their money into stuff that is useful to us as the patient. They accept VSP and the people working there are super-helpful and pleasant. Their eyeglass options are improving every year, but since I mostly get contacts here, then it's not a concern to me. I feel kind of bad for Dr. Chin because I seem to call him in a panic when I need to see him. Whether it's sand in my eye from beach volleyball, or [I feel like] a hair has wrapped itself around my complete eyeball and I can feel it tickling my brain, he always makes time to see me as soon as possible. His memory for remembering the last things you talked about during your visit is uncanny. A real doctor that cares about who you are, and doesn't try to upsell you on things you don't need. Let's be frank, if you already need corrective vision products, it's only going to go downhill from here; he is more interested in making sure you are taken care of, your questions are answered, and that you understand that it is a near physical impossibility to have a hair wrap ALL the way around you eye. I've been going to Dr. Gregory Chin for probably over 10 years. He is very good and consistent. Has a good sense of humor. And he truly cares, or at least he seems like it. It's just the receptionists that's always seem like they hated their job. Some are nice, but one or two are always so mean to me. I hate switching up doctors but this last visit had me thinking otherwise. Not only I had to wait between patients, the whole process took close to two hours! Ridiculous! When I called the office 45 minutes before appointment time, said I'm stuck in traffic coming from Auburn, the receptionist told me to not come so late because Doctor is booked for the day and I will have to wait longer than usually. Really?! It's not like I purposely trying to be late and mess up the doctors schedule. So I got there 3 minutes BEFORE my appointment time, and still had to wait 10 minutes to get seen. That was outrageous! Thinking about switching up to a local eye doctor, hoping to minimize the exam time. read more

This was my first visit to Seattle Vision Clinic and I was very happy with my appointment. I had Dr. John Kikcuchi and he patiently walked me through the exam and answered all of my questions. He was able to explain things to me in a way I could understand and seems like most staff spoke another language that caters to the community, which I very much appreciate. I was also really happy with the variety of frames they have to offer. They have a really large selection of "alternative fit" glasses that sit much better on Asian noses. Love my doctor but had to quit this place today. Dear Doctor John, I want to thank you for your excellent service all these years. I believe I have been your patient for over 10 years, almost a third of my life. You have always been so kind and professional. So much so, that I was always willing to overlook the other people who worked at the clinic. Throughout the years, I have had some unpleasant experiences. When I walk in, no one acknowledges me or greets me. When I leave, no one wishes me a nice day. When things are running long, no ones says "sorry for the wait, we will get to you shortly". I have always felt that I was just another thing that had to be dealt with. I don't mind, that sometimes things take a long time, sometimes even hours. But it's impossible to get a smile from these people, a little sense that I mattered. I don't know how many times Eva didn't approve of my glasses choices and tries to change my mind or how she gets all snobby when I say I don't need any of the upgrades. Usually, Rose is the nicer one. But today she snapped at me because I asked a question. I asked the girl at the front desk if it is possible to just pick up my glasses and not get them fitted. (My 4 year old daughter was getting hungry and my baby was being watched by someone else and I was getting worried about her.) The front desk girl told Rose about my question. Rose stood up from her chair and started lecturing me aggressively. I was shocked and honestly, I would handed it better but the years of dealing with your staff just came boiling up. I said, "I've been going here for 10 years, I love my doctor. Before when I didn't have kids, I could wait all day, but I think need to go to another clinic because you guys are under staff and it just takes way too long." She responded that it's fine that I leave, but I needed to wait. Funny thing-- I never said I wasn't willing to wait, I just asked a question. At this point, I just wanted to get out of there, come back another time, I went to ask the front desk girl about transferring my records to another clinic. Rose then yelled at me, saying she already got someone to help me, what was I doing at the front desk again. I felt like a was being scolded my mother. All because I asked a question. I have never been talked to like this at a place of business. Sadly, I won't be returning. I wished could keep seeing you. Some of the newer staff have been better. But seeing certain people there, just puts me in a terrible mood. Please let me know if things change. I would come back. You are awesome. My daughter really likes you too. I really wanted to support independent Asian American business. Now, I'll probably end up going to Costco, where I know at the very least, someone will say hi to me and won't yell at me when I ask questions. Dr. Greg takes great care in getting to know his patients and ensure they are happy and healthy. His giving nature and personality will keep me coming back, no matter where I move. This place is horrible. Overall, The doctor lied, and only cared about selling me expensive lenses. The women in the front office are all rude and it has taken over a year to get contact lenses. The eye exam took over an hour. Even after I told the doctor I couldn't tell the difference between the two options, he kept pushing my prescription higher so he could try and sell me ridiculously expensive lenses. When I told him I couldn't afford them, he lied and said that the brand I was used to didn't come in the new prescription. One office lady told me that it was illegal for me to driving with my current lenses and that I need to order the expensive lenses now. My prescription was less than a year old. After I did my own research and found that the lenses I wanted were available, I called to order them from the office and the women at the desk kept saying the doctor would call me back. They were always really rude and made it seem like I was bothering them. After 3-4 times of getting the same answer, and the doctor never calling me back, I gave up. A few months later I called to try and get contacts again. I told them the exact brand I wanted and they said they would order me a trial pair. The trial pair ends up being the wrong brand, and I they are horrible lenses. Proclear, btw. I finally get the right lenses and call to get the prescription so I can order them, cause I sure as hell don't want to spend money at this place, and they refuse to give to me because I never came in for a follow up appointment. I go in, and I have to go through ANOTHER hour long eye exam and another hard sell on expensive lenses. Long story short, My original eye exam was 11/9/09 and it is now 12/17/10 and the contact lenses I want will finally be here this week. read more

Seattle's best-kept secret- a veritable vintage frame mecca. I was in the ID buying some tea when I passed by the window of this place and noticed a number of beautiful, unique-looking vintage frames. I am obsessed with vintage frames (they tend to fit my face better than modern frames, and they stand out more to fit with my quirky style), but the last pair I bought at a place in the Bay Area was $350. No. Thanks. The prices here were incredibly reasonable. I tried on a number of frames from a helpful, opinionated, and friendly optician (you need opinionated opticians to give you perspective!). I chose the perfect pair, was fitted by another sweet and knowledgeable optician, paid my co-pay, and was out the door! The frames were a mere $119 for a unique pair from the 1950s, and I had my prescription faxed over and filled within a week. I am extremely pleased with the selection, price, quick turnaround, and wonderful service here. I have never been so pleased with a vision clinic before. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Slow, rude and questionable service. My father came in for an appointment and waited an hour over his scheduled appointment before being seen. He does not speak English so they have a translator for him but was told that the translator barely translated anything said by the doctor. I wasn't there at the appointment so I gave them the benefit of a doubt and went with my dad on a follow up appointment. Again waited over an hour passed the scheduled time, receptionist was rude and heard from other patients that the doctor habitually run at least 30 mins late on scheduled appointment. We waited over an hour. I am not a eye doctor and can't comment on his skills, but this is not a place I will go to for my vision exam. Great doctors and great staff. They're located in Chinatown and have a few parking spots nearby but I find it easier to just hunt down my own spot and put in the max amount of time. The staff there is friendly and makes sure to give you a call the day prior to your appt. They also speak a few languages to accommodate all patrons. While the office could use a little touch up, the staff makes up for all the shortcomings. The doctors there care about their patients and doing a good job for each person they see. They also take new people very quickly and take a variety of insurances and offer a great discount to those without. Highly recommend them. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Lund Chin since I was in grade school so... Over 20 years. I had a gap for a few years and ventured to other clinics because even with insurance my out of pocket seemed to be around $300 for just contacts and exam. This is with VSP. The doctors are exceptional. Dr. Gregory is Dr. Lund Chin's son. I've actually seen all of the doctors and they are professional and good at what they do. When I switched types of contact lenses I was pretty much at the clinic once a week for 5 weeks straight. Dr. Chin wanted to make sure the lenses I had were a perfect fit. You have to respect that. SVPs equipment seems to be more updated some other clinics I've been to. Their frames are a bit outdated and though the clinic has expanded, it needs a visual face lift. My only complaint is the staff. I don't know if it's a reverse discrimination thing because I'm Asian or if they are equally rude to everyone. Rose is really nice but the ladies up front.... they're snippy. The one thing here is... they'll write you a prescription for eye glasses, but not contacts. You have to get your contacts through them (how they make $$) where other clinics may provide both. read more

I don't go here but come to take and pick up my friend. I have been here twice now for a friend. The wait time is ridiculous. You should not need to wait over an hour in the waiting area for an eye appointment. Most places make you wait maybe ten or fifteen minutes after you check in but over an hour is ridiculous. I always come prepared with things to do and read but it's the idea of it that bugs me. I know my friend really likes the staff but the wait is ridiculous. Last week was just a regular eye exam it took over 2 hours before we could leave. Tip: don't make plans for anything after your eye appointment because you don't know how long it's gonna take. read more

** This review is not from someone who has gone to this place once. STAY AWAY from this place!! Front desk staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful. I have been going here for about a year now due to extenuating circumstances with glasses that they are unable to rectify. Every single time I have gone here, this one older lady is always working at the front desk. She's extremely rude, grumpy, has a rotten attitude, and is pretty much worthless. The others at the front desk are friendlier, but pretty incompetent as well. I cannot stress enough how rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful they are!! I have literally had to call THEM every single time to check on the status of my order, and if it had been delivered to their office yet. Often times, they'd say "Oh yea. It JUST came in today!" Horse****, it JUST happened to arrive today when I called, a week after it was initially supposed to come in? And this wasn't a one-time occurrence either. Like I mentioned above, it has happened throughout the course of the year, and is the reason why I am continuing to go to this place, because I want them to sort out the problem that they caused, and because I'm not getting charged for the "follow-up" appointments due to the fact they're unable to fix the problem. This is the best optometrist I've ever been to! They accept VSP and have a great selection of frames. The office is easy to get to, and right up my alley in terms of décor: think an optometrist straight out of a Woody Allen movie, circa 1977. Perfect!! My exam last year was very pleasant, I didn't have to wait too long (actually, not long enough to finish the magazine I was reading with a sweet article about hair shows in Detroit), and Dr. Chin was totally sweet and made great small talk. I felt so comfortable and enjoyed being there. I wish I could find a dentist that was this easy-going, thorough, and enjoyable to visit. The customer service here is awesome--the lady who helped me immediately recognized the most complementary style of frame for my face, and I am still, a year later, receiving compliments on them. I just booked my annual eye exam and am super jazzed to tell my eye doctor about the neat barbecue grill I got this summer--weird, since I usually dread going to any kind of doctors. I have been going here for 10 years and they are THE best! Dr. Greg is the an amzaing doctor who actually really cares about his patients. I stopped by Seattle Vision today to see if they could put my old lenses from my broken frames in to my new replacement frames. Eva assisted me and was very professional and thorough in being able to get my lenses, that were a very tight fit, into the new frames. She warned me they might break but I told he I was OK with that and it was worth a try. She not only was able to squeeze the lenses into the new frames but took the time to make sure my frames were properly fitted to my face making many adjustments in the process. I can't say enough good things about the service I received today and the price they charged was very reasonable. I was so impressed, I think I'll start using them in the future when I need new glasses since they also had an impressive selection of frames as well. read more

I've been going to SVC for probably a decade now, and my whole famy goes here now too. I started seeing Dr. Kikuchi first, but somehow shifted to Dr. Greg at some point. They work well together, are hardworking, and extremely personable. Dr. Greg is a kind, funny, and very knowledgeable professional. He's great with their diverse clientele, and has a no nonsense kind of attitude. He's seen me for regular annual exams, unexpected emergence of eye conditions, and through a lasik procedure. Their office is closed Thursday and Sunday, and it may be helpful to schedule well in advance for routine eye exams but well worth it. Plan for an hour long appointment. Limited free parking is available in a lot nearby, and really helpful in getting me there on time :) read more

I had a terrible experience even before I went to there. I had 3 calls with them, they asked for basic info every fucking single time. At the last time, a women who can speak cantonese was totally pissed me off. She was rude and ignored what I explained, she interrupted me by saying, I told you WAIT! Then turned to impatient when she couldn't find my insurance record which I had given to her colleagues earlier, twice! How can I trust this place that they can take care of my case carefully? Came for a check up with a patient and had a brief check don't and told to sit at a waiting area for half an hour before being seen. Doctor is very friendly and knowledgeable. Was told to wait another half hour. "Rose" stated that we should expect each appointment to take at least two hours!! She then goes on to say we have to expect this time frame because only they will take our insurance. Our provider has multiple vision clinics available. She then says they already have our full medical file here and it's better to stay here. We can have our medical files requested easy. Don't threaten your customers with insurance to make up for your wait time. She then translates to the patient what I asked and completely lied about what I had asked her, assuming I didn't speak the language. Absolutely unacceptable customer service from "Rose" read more

I had been putting off getting my eyes checked for a few years and finally decided it was time due to incessant headaches. I did a quick yelp search and decided to try Vision Clinic of Seattle. I immediately found it comfortable and relaxed. It's not pretentious or stuffy at exactly what I wanted. Their equipment is state-of-the-art though and I was impressed. I had an appointment with Dr. Chin and found him to be awesome. He is very professional and polite while also incredibly informative and efficient. He ran me through my exhaustive exam with incredible patience and care and found exactly what my prescription was and explained what I needed. I then was led to the frame consultation area and found an awesome pair of modern frames. They take VSP (awesomesauce) and therefore I walked out happy and feeling like my eyes were in for a treat. I definitely recommend these guys and Dr. Chin. There is some free parking spaces they have procured in a lot around the corner and I found the staff to be straightforward and pleasant. I'm from Boston originally and appreciate the straightforward attitude. They are open on Saturdays and have a very diverse clientele and employee base....again...awesome. This is my first time visiting this place and I don't think the staff is rude at all compare to other reviews. I believe this is just the cultural differences. Being Chinese myself, I've seen rude. Have you met mainland Chinese people? Those people are god dam rude. These people are just trying to keep things as professional as possible IMO. I think they are rather decent. Think about it, they been in business for how long? If it was really a horrible place. They would have been out of business a long time ago. I wasn't originally planned on going to this place, but I gave it a shot since it was under my insurance. It was just an extra convince because I was going to buy a pair of glasses at Paris Miki (located in Uwajimaya) anyways. I also believe this place would have a better review if all their elderly and none English speaking patient could write a review. Dr. Kikuchi was very helpful and informative. He discovered other issues with my eyes my previous doctors never mentioned. Eva picked a pair of glasses to my liking. She's very helpful and even thou I got her running around picking up 20 frames. She didn't snap on me. Haha... The prices for my glasses wasn't expensive as "O H." reviewed. I felt it was average. If you wanted cheap, inexpensive, and crappy glasses. Go to America Best. They are even worst. You will receive sub par service from them and it will feel like going to a fast food joint. Their glasses was not glued to the frame correctly. If you make an appointment by email, DO NOT DO IT. Do it over the phone. I had to reschedule my appointment 3 times, but it wasn't so bad. It was just bad timing. I wouldn't really hold it against them. They still provided a professional job. If you want in style frames go somewhere else. You can still get your prescription here. If you want frames that will fit and do not care so much about the style. The staff can help you with that. read more

Everyone here is sooo nice!!!!! The young woman at the front desk, the doctors, and the woman who helped me select frames were all very delightful. Run down of a basic exam appointment: Check in w/front desk, assistant checks your eye pressure and things like that, 1st doctor does an eye exam to check for your prescription and dilates your eyes, you pick out frames with help of an employee, you wait to see the second doctor, brief second exam, and all done! Exam: This was one of the most thorough eye exams I have ever had! The first doctor did an exam to find my prescription and a second doctor looked at my eyes to make sure they were healthy. Frame selection: There are hundreds (if not thousands) of frames to choose from here. Rose helped me find ones that were good for me. I thought it was really cool that the frame display wall flips around and there are more frames on the other side. There is even a really cool selection of retro/vintage frames you can select from if that is your thing! ( not all insurances cover those though :/ ) Downside: You have to wait again to see the second doctor. Unfortunately, while I was there a chatty grandpa type asked a million questions and the wait seemed very long. Overall, I highly recommend Seattle Vision Clinic! read more

This review is just for the eyeglasses, not the doctor there. I went to this place for my glasses after I had gone to three different places. I am a somewhat of a picky consumer because I have a specific length and size of frames that I need, in addition to wanting a stylish pair, and I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg. I was extremely pleased with my service with the worker there named Eva, who patiently gave me pair after pair to try on, seemingly endlessly. it took over an hour to find the right pair, and she also pointed out that one pair I selected was going to be thicker than my previous glasses particularly because the lenses (the width from ear to ear) were bigger. Consequently, I chose to keep looking instead of choosing this pair. Finally I settled on a pair that was a great designer pair by Joseph Abboud, and the total bill came to what I thought would be at least twenty percent lower than some other stores I had gone to, with polycarbonate lens included. I can't say enough great things about this place... great selection of contemporary and vintage frames, extremely patient and knowledgable staff, and affordable. This is my first vision clinic that i went to in Chinatown. I was in a hurry getting my contact. The doctor told me that I need to learn how to put a contact on and they will charge me $100 for that lesson. I told them, I can put it on myself and i know how to but they kept insist of teaching. I think the price is a little to pricy. Is not that hard to on a contact! After i finish learning that less, i was charge another $200-300 for my contact. Over all, I think this place is okay. I feel like you can get contact somewhere else and it would be much cheaper. I felt like i have to wait forever on the line to be called. read more
