I had a good experience with my new optometrist. The doctor was meticulous and actually discovered early signs of glaucoma in my right eye--something my previous optometrist never mentioned. I really appreciated how patient he was, taking the time to answer all my questions and explain everything in detail. The office was easy to get into, and they accept VSP insurance, which is a huge plus. Scheduling was a breeze, and the front desk staff was really responsive. They have reserved parking spots behind the building for patients, which is always nice. In summary, they are disrespectful and unprofessional. They do NOT respect you or your time. My wife and I had annual check-up appointments with them and had provided all our insurance information months in advance. We continued receiving appointment confirmation texts but received no updates regarding insurance. When we arrived, they informed us that they no longer accepted our insurance and asked if we were willing to proceed without it. When we questioned why we weren't notified earlier, they didn't even apologize and misrepresented the situation. They had months to inform us of their change in insurance policy. I would STRONGLY advise against using their services, especially when there are other professional providers available. Now that you know this, using their service would be a disservice to yourself and to other providers who work hard to offer respectful, professional care. read more

Wow What a way to start my Monday. I will walk into the office and the first thing I'm greeted with his hold on. By the receptionist all in every interaction that I had with her very unprofessional. Not only did she suggest I can go somewhere else to get my glasses. Which didn't make any sense to me because I want to just help.. I had this lovely young man come and help me to get my glasses and explain everything to me and detail. The doctor and ham work phenomenal. But to get to them you have to deal with two other people with that had no manners in dealing with customers I don't know if it's because it's Monday or I'm a person of color but this wasn't fun at all. I was so excited to come to the appointmentI just left from getting my eyes dilated. The doctor insured me I would be OK to drive. I almost crashed my car twice. Please as a patient they drove herself this is pretty intense. For future patients please let them know this is not only dangerous for me but for the people on the road . Most people dread going to the dentist. That's kind of how I feel about getting my eyes examined. I had a great visit with Dr. Hoang. Staff members were friendly and efficient. During the eye exam, he was very thorough and explained everything he was doing. He also asked specific and insightful questions about medical history to get a bigger picture of my eye health. He's great. Took a lot of time to do a thorough examination and was very pleasant to chat with the whole time. Never thought I'd enjoy getting my vision checked. You get the sense that he genuinely cares about you and that's really important when you're only going to a specialized doctor. Dr. Hoang is awesome and I highly recommend him! Doctor and staff are great! Very personable and efficient service at a well loved location. The office is cozy and clean. I would recommend bussing or ride sharing because this area is difficult to park in. Dr. Huy is well seasoned with over 200,000 patients seen - I imagine this man has probably come across nearly every eye condition possible and still approaches each patient with attention to individualized care to meet their needs. As a new transplant to Seattle I was appreciative of the friendly atmosphere and that the team took the time to give me directions. Office staff took every precaution they could to prevent against covid19. Their online intake form is a little clunky (got a call-back days after my initial appointment to book a first appointment- woops!) but everyone is adjusting to the changes covid has driven and the care I received more than made up for a minor clerical error. Honestly, if you are looking to establish at a new practice I couldn't recommend this clinic more! read more

I was sure to appear at my eye exam on July 19, 2023 because I have been a patient for more than (8) years at Jackson Vision Optometry Medical Group. I have always respected the facility and the staff as a whole because they make sure my eye exams are kept up to date and give me valuable feedback on my eyesight. Normally the pre-tests are done by an Asian female staff, although occasionally a male Asian staff will do my exams. While I have always noticed the staff is mostly of course, it has crossed my mind whether it be possible to ever have a Black optometry assistant or doctor on staff to weigh in on cases such as mine and I was there for the exam not a job. At any rate, on this particular day, the office was unusually empty and there was a Caucasian male staff who conducted my pre-exam So when I realized I would be in a mostly empty office for pre-exam conducted by a Caucasian male staff I'd never seen before I was concerned. The Asian female staff, Michelle has always done my exam and they all know me. Again, the place was unusually empty. That being said, one of the exams requires an ekg wire be attached to the back of the head, necessitating the assistant to manipulate a clients hair. This of course is a red flag because they only have one picture showing a Black person having this device attached to her particular kind of hair. A photo is not the same as the real thing. This man I have never seen now has to put this electromagnetic device in my hair and of course I was ready to leave. I was patient because I wanted the exam to go smoothly. I did my best to get through the exam but what happened at the end of this exam, no one comes to receive such discourtesy. So the exam is finally over and I am calm because I want to get out of that room with him because I did not want to be a target for any type of projection or assumption but sure enough he says, "Oh well I guess you do have a brain in there so says the white man who tested you." Now my goal was to leave the exam unharmed and he made sure that did not happen. I don't know whether his remark was meant to be sexist or even racist because it was just truly so stupid and unnecessary. These types of remarks would be made somewhere in the 1960's in Mississippi or the like. Where the little [b]lack girl i.e. subhuman had to get off the sidewalk to let the White man pass by. That's what it felt like to me in that moment and I guess he wanted to have an argument with me. I was just more stunned at such a lowball remark for no reason other than he felt it was funny to say. Mind you there was a sign looking for full-time employees so I squeezed by him out of the room to where it was safe because he made me feel very humiliated and angry and I had not done anything except show up for my appointment. When I tried to tell Dr. ???Hoanng??? about my interest in the full-time position and wanted to include my incident in the other room he quickly cut me off and said I needed to talk to the HR person Samantha about the job posting which was not the entirety of my concerns. So in all of my years of attending Jackson Vision I have never had an experience at that level of ignorance for no reason other than "just because" and the fact that I had to pay for that experience through my insurance is adding insult to injury. That somehow that Caucasian male felt entitled to say that to me and somehow he was able to sleep, eat, and subsist off my value while insulting me bothers me greatly. I am uncertain what condition I would call this one, but it came across as both sexist and racist. He may be a misogynist, but whatever the case may be, his behavior was incongruous with my patronage experience this past decade. And his behavior was anachronistically rude. I really like being seen by Dr. Hoang but I'm giving two stars because his front office workers need some re-training or just to be fired. Every time I go here, they give me some type of issue. For my last exam, I went in and was told that I have a $65 fee for being fitted for contacts. And I'm like wtf? I have never paid any type of fee and I've been going here for years. Then the girl re checked her computer and said nevermind it's $15. What. It should be zero. I've had the same insurance and all that since I've been going there so I have no idea how these imaginary numbers are showing up. I've also experienced them billing me for different things one year and not the next. And then calling to ask and them saying it was a mistake. My sister used to go here but go fed up with them. They billed her $3 out of nowhere for something that was over a YEAR ago. So go here if you wanna be charged for random things because they think they can get away with it.. up until you ask them for an explanation. I guess I still go here because it's so close to my house. Will be looking for a new eye doctor for my next annual. read more

This little Vision Clinic on Rainier is first-rate! I was a 1st-time patient right before covid shut-downs and was fitted with the best pair of bifocals and best, favorite frame, ever. The yesterday I broke them. On 10 minutes notice, I took them in. The attendant found out for me that the frame is discontinued, and also looked up to see it would be outside my insurance to buy frames yet. She took all the time needed with me to discuss options, and ultimately agreed to try to fix the broken frame so I can wait until insurance comes due. She saved me a bunch of money and miraculously made the glasses wearable and decent looking again. All this, while others were also being attended to - and me without an appointment! I love a culturally competent place. If you're Vietnamese, this is the place to go. It's just so safe and comforting to hear your own language. Of course, they're bilingual so if you're not the most fluent (aka me), you're good. The staff were really nice and attentive, telling me what they were going to do beforehand. I've been a patient with Dr. Hoang for quite some time now, myself and the whole family. As always he's very professional and warming and importantly, good at what he does. They relocated from once in the ID to now, on Rainier. This new location is definitely more spacious, the ambiance is delightful and I'm quite shocked to see how much he has up'd the surrounding. With the softness of water fall to the seating arrangements. I'm quite happy to see a larger selections of eyewear as well. There's also parking in the back or nearby stores/restaurant. I'm glad they moved. A couple of new staff and some from the past, all still very efficient. Dr. Hoang definitely gives me no reason to go else where. read more

Visited the first time, staffs are all very nice and exam seemed ok. However I feel during COVID time the safety measure should be higher especially with such close contact is needed for eye exam. - many clinic scheduling patient apart enough to avoid overlapping or waiting in the clinic, or practice wait in the car or outside until is your turn, but when I stepped in the clinic there are about 6 people in the waiting area.... I almost want to walk out. - I pre fill up the patient information forms , print out bring to the clinic to avoid be at clinic for long. They did not have online filled submitted option, luckily I have a printer that I can do all pre filled up and bring them to the clinic. During this time, this is almost a mush function for healthcare facility. Hope they improve it. - I had to wait about 30 minutes from my original appointment time. Odd things is for my eye exam I had to probably in contacted with 4 different doctors.... not sure why, keep having different person do differently test for me. Took my existing eye glasses to test, returned to me without wiping and disinfected ... lol after 2 persons touched it something goes so close to my eyes... I asked a alcohol wipe cleaned up myself. Because during this pandemic time everything's really different, and making environment and patients safe is very important, taking extra safety measures will be more inconvenience but we will appreciated more. I've been going to Jackson Vision Clinic for about 5 years now and it's still a great clinic to go to. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. They're all fluent in Vietnamese and so it's a great location for Vietnamese immigrants, parents, grandparents, friends, and other family members who aren't fluent in English. By eliminating a language barrier, the Vietnamese community is able to receive optimal eye care without any concerns because they'll be able to understand everything that's being told to them. The eye exams themselves are pretty straightforward. it's always fun to be asked 1 or 2? 3 or 4? I had a concern regarding my contact lenses and I was able to refitted and exchange my unopened box with no problem. It was nice that they were able to cater to my eye health and valued my concerns as a patient (despite signing a document that says I cannot return my contacts after purchase). In addition, being a new contact lens wearer, I had no idea how they worked and like most people, I was scared to poke my eyes. Like I can barely put eye drops in without my eye lids just instinctively trying to close. But despite that, the doctors helped me practice putting them on and off (it's very frustrating at first!), educate me about the general facts about contacts, the do's and don'ts, the differences between dailies, biweeklies, and monthly contacts, and how my particular prescription worked with contacts. Dr. Hoang also went out of his way to help me label my contact cases to ensure that I do not get them mixed up since I have astigmatism. He's a great guy always with a big smile and he really shows that he cares about his patients. Overall great place! Only gripe is the small parking space :) read more

I dont understand why everyone gave them a 5 star review. I came in for glasses and contact fitting, they couldnt fit my contacts so they had to order trial lenses, but they never did. A month later goes by and i call them. The medical assistant forgot to put my order in. Thanks. My glasses are not even in yet. Its been 2 months now. From march 28. Its may now. They told me 4-6 weeks for my glasses. Then there was an error. So they have to send it back. Im pretty sure they arent using usps. They are probably using a cat. I've been a patient of Dr. Hoang's for a really long time. So long that when I go in for my annual exam, I know which file is mine before they even grab it from their well organized arrangement of patients who are visiting that day. It's always the fattest file of the bunch. One of the things that I love about the staff and Dr. Hoang is that they're all really nice and after a few years, they remember me by name. Dr. Hoang is personable, and honest with his medical opinions. He's kept my eyes healthy and given me valuable advice in helping maintain the health of my eyes. His staff is also very professional and they help out a lot since it is pretty much just Dr. Hoang doing the exams (but don't be fooled, this man has so much energy, he will make even the most hyper of small children look sluggish, but he is also so attentive that you'll feel like you're the most important patient to him. They have a pretty good selection of frames as well and I've been known to get new ones pretty frequently because something else catches my eyes. Their new location is definitely an upgrade! Pay him a visit if your eyes are getting hazy from reading so many reviews! read more

Dr. Hoang has been a great eye doctor to me and I've successfully gotten prescriptions comfortable to me but it's just the clinic. I had a work related eye injury back in November 2017 and pretty much tried to make an immediate medical appointment but they were fully booked for the next 2 weeks and couldn't squeeze me in. The lady that answered the phone quoted "Sorry we're booked for the next 2 weeks". Never gave an option for a next day appointment or anything else. My left eye was severely swollen and red itchy etc. It was a total let down and I had to seek out another clinic that was able to see me same day. I really do appreciate what this clinic had done for me but it's not a place that I would come back too. read more

about a year and a quarter ago, I came in to this place to get my eyes checked out since I had some issues since moving to seattle. A few days ago, I had lost my contact lenses so I called them in. At first, they said they could email me my contact lens prescription so I could run to a place nearby me to get temp ones while I waited for them to come in the mail. I kept checking my email and saw no prescription, so I called back. They told me they had not actually finalized the script I would need to come back in and they also told me that I would have to pay 80.00 out of pocket since my eye exam was less than two years and my insurance wouldn't pay for it. at this point they also told me they kept trying to call me. Which is not true. I scheduled for today to get said contact lens exam immediately. I just got there and sadly, they told me it was no longer 80 but more than twice that much. I would also have to get another eye exam even though my original one was for 2 years and it has not expired. They stated they tried to call me this morning. I gave them my # and they didn't say it was wrong. I call bull on this place. they lost a customer. read more

Really unprofessional environment- they all joke around and speak Vietnamese to each other about random things, while examining patients and as a patient, I'd like it if things were kept professional while you're examining my eyes. I've been going here for about 4 years now because my mom seems to like this place for god knows why. Every year I come in, there's always a problem; it's taken over a month to get my new glasses, I once got glasses so bent and uneven, I ended up purchasing a new pair from costco but this is the final straw. I had an appointment to see Dr. Hoang tomorrow, but since finding out my insurance got a little mixed up, they called and said I "had to reschedule because it's too early for my annual." I have an eye exam EVERY YEAR, around the SAME TIME. They say that because they think they aren't going to get paid. I guess they care more about the money than their patients. read more

Such a great place! Starting at the being to booking my appointment the call desk was extremely helpful and they were flexible enough to to meet with my crazy schedule. Coming into the appointment the Front Desk was so nice :) she told me everything on the agenda and also answered all my questions about my insurance/billing. These people really know what they are doing. All the techs are very welcoming and make you feel as comfortable as you could be at a eye clinic. Same for the doctor he was very informative and let me know the result of everything we did and made sure I didn't leave without any questions answered. Right as you walk in the door, you are welcomed with smiling faces. Clinic was very clean and sanitary, with gender neutral bathroom and spacious waiting room. As I was called into the pre test room, I got an employee on her first day. Even on her first day, she knew what she was doing and was very professional along with the tech training her. After my pre test I waited again but only for a few minutes, then Dr. Hoang called me in. He was very gentle and talked me through the whole process, letting me know it's okay to blink when I needed too. Optician was so helpful and friendly, and also very patient. She helped me find my perfect pair of glasses that fit my face shape. Also the intern came in and examine my eyes to see the health of them, was extremely polite and asked me about myself to it more comfortable. Just in all, this clinic was great, 10/10 would recommend for anyone needing a place to get glasses or contacts and I will definitely be returning. read more
