I appreciate Dr. Weaver's skill and professionalism, and I'm glad I saw her for my evaluation. Although doctors seem nice and informative, the staffs there made it all bad. I am not sure if technology is a bit too much for them, or am I too young for this place. I had eye exam here once and another time for check up cause I had an allergic reaction and my eyes were red and puffy. The first time there for the eye exam I was on time (few mins early so they are not even open yet, but it took them 45 mins to finally see me after I finished all the paper work. It took longer than I expected and had to get to work later than I assumed. It was not decent already but the front desk clerk clearly was annoyed by everything. Second time was better since it's different front desk person. however the long wait is just... making me ask why. Especially I had eye exam elsewhere and it's usually just 5-10 mins wait for the doctor to get ready for my case. I assume you have prepared to meet me as I scheduled the appointment weeks before? Oh and I heard doctors and staffs just chitchatting in the hallway while I'm waiting???? The second time there my eyes were hurting and really want to get it fix soon, so hearing yall back there laughing was pretty bad. Fast forward to this week. I called to try to schedule an eye exam and got to their voice mail. It was around 3PM so I understand maybe they were having patients and was busy. They didn't call back that day, instead, took them one full day to finally call me back at 4PM next day. Not in the morning nor afternoon...Actual 25 hours later. It's not a Monday call, yet took you full day to call back an existed customer. The lady on the phone is nice but you can tell she's not good at phone calls. "huh?" a couple times and was very slow. Um. Hire a person that knows how to answer phone calls? No thank you. After that, I immediately called another place I went to 3 years back and they actually answered my phone call right away and got me scheduled in a 2 mins phone call, and texted the time and date of the appointment to me after. That's true customer service right there!!! This place is SO WEIRD. The whole vibe is just weird and not professional. It's a place for slow service and not updated system. I understand they are older people, but doesn't mean as a professional provider, you can still use your 70s system and think it's ok. Took them way too long to call back and even scheduled it will take so long for you to get an eye exam. Bye bye forever. I am not going back to waste my time. Not everyone is retired and have so much time for a full day off eye exam. I hope they can improve their systems and work with a happy yet not fully relaxing vibe, as if patients is not important and they can chat whenever they can. read more

I experienced a high level of incompetence at Binyon. I was in a situation where I needed new contacts and had to have an exam. When I asked my friends for recommendations and checked Yelp, this place was not recommended, but they had an appointment available, so I took it. My exams took forever, even with COVID protocols taken into account. They made me do a field of vision test. Halfway through it, I asked "should I be wearing my contacts" and she giggled and said "oh no!" And then continued to joke about how the Dr even let's get keep her job. Not cool. I was there forever to get the exam. It was a crappy experience. Annnnnd they they it would take a month to get new contacts. I complained and got them in 2 weeks. Like I said, I needed new contacts, pre-shutdown, so by this point, it was super urgent. I wasn't going to write a review based on this experience, I was just not going to go back, THEN, I got a bill. They told me that my insurance was accepted there. I asked this before I scheduled an appointment. They said yes, we accept that insurance. As clear as can be. Three months later, I received a bill for well over $300 accompanied by a letter saying that they were misinformed and I owe them all this money. So here I am, already a bad experience then, because they passed on their bad knowledge to me, and I have to pay. Needless to say, I'm not going here again. My friends recommended numerous other places in town they are very happy with. I will go there if I have any other issues. There is little these people got right and I knowing what I know now, I wouldn't trust these people with any aspect of my health. read more

My optician today, Dawn, really talked with me in depth about what I need for work and as my vision changes with age. I admit I initially chose Binyon due to their proximity, but after my 1st visit, I knew I had made the right choice. The staff and doctors are all top shelf, showing a great deal of care towards patient comfort and security, adhering to all COVID regulations and then some. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable in their craft, they know what they're doing and they take the time to make sure you understand just what's going on with each procedure. They're great about answering questions and ensuring your comfort with what's happening. Before coming to Binyon, I've been to only 1 other optometrist center on Tacoma Mall Blvd about 10 years ago. The new patient process is very easy and that's thanks to them. Judy and Katie were great over the phone and then when I arrived. Since it's been a long time since my last eye exam, I can imagine a lot has changed. The technology and the frames they offer are amazing! Dr. Weaver who she kindly prefers to be called Jennifer was so cool, fun, and knowledgeable. I appreciated her true opinions and recommendations. My experience gave me the vibe that she really enjoys her profession. It's people like her that keep patients for a long time. Candis is the person that helped me with pick my frames. She guided me to pick the glasses that not only fit my face but my personality too! I knew this place because it was recommended by my colleagues and highly suggested this place. I switched to Binyon for vision care because my favorite optometrist retired. I couldn't have found better people than those at Binyon Vision. All of the employees are helpful, know their business and followed safety protocol for Covid-19 during my time there. Staff were very friendly and helpful but something that I just find odd 1. They take a picture of your retina which I was told I was going to charge extra for but they don't have to dilate my eyes. My eyes got dilated anyway which I have a feeling they charged me for it 2. The doctor was nice and informative but she did not even introduce herself so the whole time I had no clue what even her name was 3. I felt rushed when I was trying to pick eyeglasses and finally when It was time to go over the eyeglass I chose, the lady did not take the time to explain to me what my benefit covers or how much the frames cost. All I know was she was telling me I had to pay almost $300 dollars for the check up and the frames. I have good vision insurance so not really sure why it cost that much. I know I should have asked to have them breakdown the charges to me but i tell you, i felt like i did not have time to ask questions. All in all visit was okay. However if you dont speak up, you will feel like this clinic are adding extra charges here and there and maybe they are trying to makeup for what they loss from when they closed due to the pandemic. Make sure to have them explain what the charges and how much they are charging you for. Dont make the same mistake that I did which is paying without thinking. Binyon provides both eye exams and contact lens and eyeglass frames and lenses. It is located in downtown Burien, which has free street parking. Binyon does not have a parking lot of its own. I had an eye exam with Dr. Pham for my first contact lens fitting, and she was very patient with me during my exam and my fitting. She explained the difference between single use and extended wear contact lenses, and helped me make a decision. She knew I was traveling and that I could not make my fitting check-in appointment within the recommended time frame, so she gave me extra lenses to last until I returned from my travels. I also purchased eyeglasses from Binyon, and they are on the pricey side, but if you have VSP as your insurance provider, you get a deep discount on frames and lenses. They have a wide selection of frames, everything from the low-end to the high-end Coach/Versace/Fendi frames. read more

I had called on January 22 and confirmed an appointment for February 7. The woman took my info and seemed very nice. I have a very busy schedule so it was nice to know I could get my annual eye exam because my vision has definitely changed. I arrived on the 7th to find they didn't have an appointment scheduled for me and they turned me away claiming the doctor couldn't "fit me in." This is a sad excuse for an eye clinic I'm actually happy I didn't end up going there because if they can't get a simple appointment right I don't want to know what else they can majorly mess up. My family has been seeing Dr. Weaver for the past 8 years. She is an amazing professional, never rushed and always spends the time to make sure all your questions are answered and concerns are met. My prescriptions have always been right on and I've never left this office unsatisfied with anything. The hours are accommodating for the entire family and her office team members are very efficient, patient and pleasant to work with. I appreciate the extra effort they take to make sure my glasses are just right and that all billing questions are answered and understood. I was prescribed the wrong prescription for my glasses. When I called and said my vision was blurry, they said they would talk to the doctor and call me back. They never did, so I went to another doctor. Found out my current prescription was too strong and causing all of my problems. When I tried ordering my new glasses, I wasn't able to use my insurance as Binyon had put a hold my benefits, indicating I had to purchase my new glasses from them. I called Binyon about my issues and concerns. The receptionist, Judy, wanted to argue with me, Really? I would not recommend them. They were nice until you had a problem. read more

Let's cut right to the chase and then I'll give you the details. I highly recommend Dr. Weaver and Dr. Giese and Binyon Vision Center in Burien. Dr. Weaver has taken care of me for 15 years, maybe more, and I've probably received 4 pair of eyeglasses from Binyon in 15 years or so. Their diagnoses, prescriptions, the service, and the staff are always top notch. A few years ago Dr. Weaver referred me out due to my eyes having clouded lenses and cataracts. The referral was top notch also and was probably one of the best medical experiences I've had in my life. Basically due to that referral I had the lenses replaced in my eyes, due to the clouded lenses and cataracts. Since then I've only needed glasses for reading. Well it's kinda a runs-in-the-family thing but I have a big head. I can't find readers in the local pharmacy so I get them online where I can find ones that fit. What has been increasingly frustrating over time, with the work that I do, is pulling those readers on and off, on and off all the time. I recently returned to Binyon to find a solution. As always the staff was kind, pleasant, caring, and Dr. Weaver listened to my needs and made an accurate diagnosis. What I needed are some glasses I could wear full time and read without always having to do the on/off/on/off thing. My appointment was almost 3 weeks ago, and totally met my expectations, and I received my new glasses today. Straight from Binyon I went to work wearing my new glasses and they worked perfectly. Doctor is thorough, staff is attentive and I leave happy about the service I receive. The selection of frames could use a refresh- this is something they are in the process of improving (I think/I hope). Also, I really wish they didn't book appointments back to back. My mom went to this crappy location, needed an eye exam and the first time she came, the supposed "doctor" put some liquid in my moms eyes to dilate them. The liquid caused an allergic reaction apparently and seriously messed up her eyes. They became red and infected. To try and remedy this, my mom came back to try and see the doctor again, was told to wait 10 minutes, waited for longer than anticipated. The doctor took an extremely long time and didn't even look at her eyes, but told her to make another appointment after waiting almost an hour. Not only did they put crap in her eyes that seriously caused damage and redness, but they refused to help remedy the situation, and my mom had to go to another doctor to fix an infection and potentially blocked eye duct. DONT GO HERE, this place is terrible. read more

I have been a long time customer of Binyon (nearly 20 years.) Over the past couple of years the service has degraded significantly. Their processes are not customer focused. They often do not take the time to ensure everything a patient needs prior to an appointment is taken care of thereby wasting their customers time. Recently I ordered a years worth of contacts and asked specifically if it would be faster or cheaper to order through 1-800 contacts. I was told they were competitive and I could have them sent to my home. Unfortunately they didn't ship them to my home and they left me a message at my alternative phone number so I didn't get it for two weeks. When I called they made no attempt to make it right and required I come in. This is now the third unnecessary appointment I have been forced into because of their incompetence. Dr. Geyse is an incredible doctor and I will miss her but cannot continue providing feedback without improvement nor do I have extra time to spend in their office on unnecessary visits. I have never, ever written a bad review about any business or person in my entire life. After this experience, I feel it is important to do just that. There is much more to the story, but I will leave it at this: I normally have seen Dr. Geise who is professional and kind. I wanted to get contacts and my appointment was with Dr. Weaver who overstepped boundaries and treated me like I was a child, making belittling comments to me. Needless to say, I was eager to be done with the exam. I was told the contact "trials" would be ready in three days by Dr. Weaver, however three weeks later still no contacts. I had to be the one to call to find out what was going on and when I did I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with Michelle who is rude and condescending. I love Dr. Weaver, she is very thorough in her evaluation and in finding out how she can best help me and my vision. She is kind and explains things well, so that it is understood. She is thoughtful of me and my life, making sure that even though she needed to dilate my eyes to evaluate something of concern, she told me all of my options in case I ended up being sensitive to the medicine used to do that. I've been going to Burien Binyon Vision Center for about 7 years and have always been very happy with them. The atmosphere is very friendly and informal while still being professional. I have mostly seen Dr Giese, but have also been treated by Dr Weaver. Both have great chairside manner, answer all my questions, and are thorough. When I recently needed cataract surgery, they not only referred me to an excellent eye surgeon, they actually set up the appointments for me. The building does have a parking lot (entered from around the corner) but I usually find curb parking right at the front door. read more

Good ophthalmologists. Worst customer service ever. They schedule you for appointments at 1:00 but keep the doors locked from 12 until precisely 1 so there is no way to check in for your appointment or fill out paperwork. They sit at their desk and stare at you standing in the cold outside the door until the exact clock tic of 1pm. My 1:00 appointment didn't start until after 1:30. They gave no explanation for the appointment starting so late even though it was the first appointment after lunch. You cannot get a hold of them on the phone over your own lunch break either because they don't have phone coverage 12-1. Further, if you have an issue that requires follow up care be aware that they are terrible regarding scheduling around their vacations and you may end up waiting several extra weeks when things could have easily been planned ahead to avoid this. I advise taking your business elsewhere as the customer service issues go on and on. read more

While the Drs Weaver and Giese(sp?) are quite competent their front office staff is as poor as they are good! I went in because I was having trouble with my recent contact lens prescription that suddenly began causing sight issues and causing pain and irritations. I. met with Barb - who introduced herself as their contact specialist. After I described the problems I was having she recommended that I re-schedule for a full exam which they had not planned on doing that day. I explained that I had a limited availability and asked if I would be able to get in on Dec 14th. She said yes and it was scheduled. When I went in on the 14th - I was not scheduled but was scheduled for Jan 14th 2016! Apparently, the fact that my contacts were causing me vision problems and eye irratations was trivial and waiting a month to check out the problems is no big thing in her mind. As long as you have no issues Binyon would be a good place to go because the Drs are quite good. But, don't expect them to be concerned about any issues that might come up after you have your appt. read more

Went in for cataract surgery follow up with DR. Weaver. Very personable and professional, my issue, was that they did an eye check for glasses ? I didn't know this was happening, just assumed this was normal eye checks for post op cataract surgery. I told them before anything even happened that I had not used glasses since surgery and that my vision was much better. Once exam was over and I was leaving, I was informed that I now owed Binyon's $84 for eye exam, not covered by insurance. I was not informed I was doing anything other than a normal follow up for recent cataract surgery. If I had been informed this was not a follow up and there was a charge for services other than what I was lead to believe, I would not shown up for appointment, they made. I had already had vision check at end of 2017, before being referred to NW EYE for cataract surgery. In conclusion, I would tell future clients, that they should make sure to know services and costs before they sit in chair, even follow-ups, as these may not be TRUE follow ups and costs could be incurred. read more

I recently went to Binyon to get a new prescription and glasses. That process was uneventful. I purchased new glasses ( they were very expensive). I got my new glasses, noticed they weren't crystal clear, but thought this was a new prescription, so my eyes would adjust. I packed a bag to take a trip at Christmas and stumbled across my OLD glasses. I put them on and couldn't believe how much better they were than my current NEW glasses. I went into Binyon to explain what had happened and to see what they were going to do to help. I was treated very poorly. I was told that your prescription was between "you and the doctor". It was over 90 days and they weren't willing to help. They told me I could come in for another exam, get a new prescription and PAY for new glasses. I had been a long time customer and will never go back. If a vendor isn't going to stand behind their product, I won't buy from them and will encourage friends and families to follow suit. I had an appointment at 4:30. Upon which I showed up at 4:10 took care of any extra paperwork and was asked to do a couple tests lasting approximately 7 minutes. After waiting awhile I was brought to examine room at 5:15 and told Dr. Would be in ,in just a moment.at 5:25 Dr was out in hallway and returned to another room shutting door behind her. That was at 5:31 after seeing the importance of my appointment with the Dr I decided to leave. I feel we as consumers are paying for services provided by the Dr and her time .obviously our time is not valued by the Dr. Upon leaving I told receptionist I was leaving, and you would think that a professional such as eye Dr would at least take the time to call and apologize for allowing someone to sit for almost any hour and a half. Binyon vision obviously doesn't care about anyone's time or the fact someone can just sit and wait for no respect.
