Taking the pandemic into account, they were wonderful. I've had corrective lenses for more than 30 years; the doctor was friendly and did a great job with the prescription and contacts fitting (will update if needed after my follow up visit with him next week). The store had a nice selection of frames and the staff was great. Very patient with me and brought out other colors; even disinfected a few pairs that another customer had just viewed so I could try them. Love this place and the 2 optometrists I have seen there. They really take the time for you exam and testing. After you get your glasses, they take a lot of care to get the fit right. I had a pair of reading glasses that just were not quite right and after trying to get used to them for a couple weeks, brought them back and the tweaked my prescription and gave me new lens for free. The new ones are perfect. Won't go anywhere else for my yearly exam or prescription. read more

After my insurance changed, I had to find a new in-network optometrist. Dr. Michael Chow was highly recommended by a colleague and rightly so. The eye exam was fantastic. Dr. Chow was very thorough in explaining my scans and results, and the technology seemed newer than other offices I've been to. For example, at the end of the eye chart test, there were colored rings around different views, so I could compare side-by-side prescriptions. This was a huge time saver for me because I usually have to ask the optometrist to switch back and forth between lenses. They also have the Optos machine, so you don't have to drive home with dilated eyes. The doctor and his staff were very knowledgeable and kind. They even looked up my insurance benefits and provided reminders even though I didn't ask. That's 5-star service. The front door is locked during the pandemic. They unlock it each time a person enters or exits. Upon entering, your temperature is taken. Sanitized pens are marked. You must use hand sanitizer before you enter your exam room. They seem to be pretty COVID conscious. They have a nice selection of frames, but they're not pushy about selling. There's a parking lot behind the building. But you must enter from the front of the building. read more

I had a pretty mixed experience at this provider today. #1 - I felt like Dr. Tran hadn't looked at my file before meeting me. For example, she greeted me by saying, "it's great to see you again" even though we've never met. She also didn't really ask me why I was there. I'm having trouble seeing close up (reading pill bottles, for example). She did extensive testing on my long-range vision, which turns out to be fine. But then I explained the problems I've been having, and she told me to just go buy some readers from the drug store. I felt kind of silly for missing work to see a doctor to be told that, but maybe that's my fault. #2 - Then we started discussing readers and she asked me how my husband's vision is. I'm a female presenting LGBT person, and it really bothers me when health care providers assume I'm straight. #3 - I had a crummy exchange with the person who fits people for glasses after appointments. I was having low-level lenses made for computer work. The person showed me a billed that included an $85 charge for anti-reflective lenses. I don't know much about lenses and consider the part of the appointment where you're buying glasses to be more of a retail environment... so I ask if I could have a moment to read about anti-reflective lenses online as I would normally do for any $85 purchase. That's a lot of money to me. The staff person seemed pretty irritated with me for doing this. I think it was a reasonable thing to do, and their reaction was unnecessary. read more

Dr. Tran did my eye exam and Kenny helped me pick out glasses. Dr. Tran was so energetic and nice during our exam which was super awesome. I'm kindof scared of doctor's visits but she put me at ease. Kenny was great, he helped me find the right glasses for my face shape without letting me get overwhelmed from all the choices. He explained cost options and everything clearly. He was also very friendly and energetic like Dr. Tran. The office manager (I didn't get her name) was attentive and somehow doing a bunch of different things at once while helping me. I've worn corrective lenses since I was a kid and this was the BEST experience I've had getting my eye exam. It was easy to make an appointment, the office was very organized and all staff wore masks and everything was clean and sanitized. They sent text and email reminders about appointments. My eye exam was with Dr. Wu and he was great - very professional, personable, friendly, and knowledgeable! He explained things well and answered all my questions. I also ordered my contact lenses through them and that was super easy and quick. I loved that they didn't try to pressure me into buying new frames or lenses or other services (though their office is very aesthetically pleasing that you want to look around at the pretty frames they have on display). All the staff were super nice and I'm actually looking forward to my annual exam next year! If you live in West Sea and need an optometrist, I highly recommend this place!!! read more

I hadn't had an eye exam since moving to Seattle over 3 years ago and needed to update my prescription. My SO used to go to another place in West Seattle, but recently had a such a terrible experience he recommended I try this place instead. I am very happy I did. Dr. Chow and his staff are friendly, approachable, and explained everything thoroughly. The new machine that takes photos of the back of your eye was a trip - this machine means you don't have to have your pupils dilated. My prescription hasn't changed and no one tried to upsell/hard sell me anything. It is a refreshing change. I don't have Vision coverage and the staff laid out the pricing and detailed what was in the glasses exam and contact lens exam. Very good value for great care. I look forward to seeing (pun intended) them again in the future. read more

Dr. Michael Chow has been my optometrist for 12 years. I saw him at his office in Bellevue off Bel-Red Road, then went to his office in South Lake Union, and now see him in his West Seattle office. He is one of two doctors who I will drive anywhere to see because he's that amazing. The office and exam rooms are clean and they use the latest technology for the annual eye exams. The office staff are friendly and professional. Lena used to be in the Bellevue office, and I'm so happy to see her in West Seattle now. She is great at picking frames. Dr. Chow is like that cool uncle you only get to see at family reunions. He remembers everything, even if it has been a year since he last saw you. He's genuinely interested in catching up. When he examines your eyes, he's gentle and doesn't poke at them without giving you fair warning of what he's about to do. I greatly appreciate that. read more

I called at 9:30 AM on a Friday without previously being a customer, and they fit me in at 10:30 AM the same day. I had complaints of floaters and flashes and they found a retina tear and referred me downtown for retina repair and it was taken care of the same day! She was TREMENDOUS with him -- she had a great approach to working with him and helping him be comfortable and even excited at choosing his classes. Great experience this week after another customer's last-minute cancellation got me in the door on a weekend, a small miracle with this place. Unlike many vision centers, drop-ins will likely lead to an apologetic front desk staff requesting you return in 2 weeks when there's an opening. Book an appointment in advance, or take your chances. Dr. Tran is incredible--kind, polite, and very knowledgeable about vision and eye health. They have the most high-tech equipment on site, but she and the staff never try to nickle and dime customers to pay for services they don't need. High marks for Dr. Chow, too. The office takes VSP and explains what that covers and doesn't. ("Doesn't" can be covered by FSA, though.) Prices are in-line with the market. Wide selection of glasses and trial contacts for those looking to change brands or test out a new Rx. Referrals get the referee $50 glasses credit, spouses included. Highly recommend. read more

Stopped in today and they went above and beyond getting me ready for a vacation, I needed an adjustment on my sunglasses and more contacts and they made it all happen. West Seattle Vision has been my go-to clinic for the past year. Compared to other optometrists I've been to, this place is by far the best value, service, and overall experience. They accept most insurance plans and are great at explaining things that are and are not covered with your specific plan. Super friendly and professional staff. Appointments start on time. My exam was extremely thorough, Dr. Tran took the time to compare different lenses and explain a variety of options to consider. I never felt rushed during my appointment, and had the opportunity to ask any questions. Booking an appointment is quick and I've always been able to find something that fits into my schedule. Bonus: there is free two hour parking in the back of the building! read more

I love this place! Their customer service is top notch. Dr. Tran is great - very personable and explains everything in easy to understand detail. She upgraded my exam to show me a condition in my eye that, even though it wasn't anything to worry about yet, was something that could potentially be in the future. She just wanted to put it on my radar. As for my glasses, I had a pair break outside of my warranty. They replaced them entirely (my style was no longer available) that included frames and lenses. I've never had a place do that before (cough...cough Lenscrafters I hate you!). Last reason - My contacts came in and I didn't have my complete insurance. Instead of making me come back, they let me take my contacts and to call them when I had the rest of the info. I could've been like, "Haha suckers! Free contacts!" and peaced out (I didn't). I don't know why I had been using Lenscrafters before WS Vision, but never again. read more

I had such a great experience at West Seattle Vision that I wanted to take a moment to share. I found WSV through Yelp. The most important things in finding a new eye clinic (other than good Yelp reviews) was that they accepted my insurance AND had a good selection of unique/funky frames to choose from. WSV met both of those criteria and then some. Dr. Tran was really friendly and did a thorough exam. She didn't rush through anything (like I've experienced many other doctors do in the past) but took the time to explain the details of her examination and what she was noticing about my eyes. She offered many solutions to my dry eye issue- which I appreciated. The clinic itself is well designed, modern and clean with what seems to be state-of-the-art equipment. The woman who helped me with my new glasses was awesome- I believe her name is Pam. She does all the buying of frames for the clinic and does a great job at that. I wanted something unique and they had several really fun options for me. Pam was super patient and helped me narrow down from about 8 pairs that I really liked. About 5 days later I received a text notification that my new glasses were ready! When I went in to pick them up, another woman was there to make the adjustments. She too was super personable and friendly. Both times I was in, the front desk staff were also very friendly and efficient with paper work and payment processing. I bought glasses here almost a year ago. The process wasn't bad, but the selection was limited since I have a wide face. I went with the one pair of ray-ban frames that fit me (There were a couple others that fit, but I didn't want metal frames, as I have a problem with losing nose-pads.) After my recent opthamologist appointment, I found out that the center on one of the lenses was placed wrong, and that was causing me severe headaches. I hadn't put together the glasses with the headaches and blurring vision until that doctor appointment. Now I'm using my old glasses and the headaches are gone. It goes without saying that I'm not coming back. Bear in mind I haven't seen the doctor here, and cannot comment on them. This review is based on the bad product I received that caused me severe physical duress. Looks like I'll be taking the frames to someone else to have new lenses made. I did mention to the people here that the glasses didn't seem right when I originally picked them up, but was told that new glasses 'take getting used to'. read more

Wow, terrible customer service! I showed up less than 10 minutes late for an appointment and I was turned away. It was at 2:09pm on Thursday afternoon and my appointment was scheduled for 2:00pm. Apparently they are overbooked for the afternoon and they offered absolutely no flexibility in accommodating me when I showed up in what is considered a very acceptable grace period. It seems this place is severely understaffed as I had to make my appointment over a month out. The receptionist had the gall to suggest rescheduling for another weekday at 1:00pm- even though I told them I had already left work early to get to my appointment and rushed over to make it. So, lesson to all- if you have the audacity to show up a few minutes late, you shouldn't even bother going in. read more

Before coming to West Seattle Vision, I had been having terrible migraines after traveling, driving, or walking for extended periods of time. I had mentioned this to a previous optometrist in another part of Seattle who had disregarded my theory that it was caused my by eyes. Luckily, I moved to West Seattle and Dr. Tran gave me the proper diagnosis and totally different prescription that has been 100% effective in preventing my eye strain and migraines. This is by far the very best optical shop I have purchased eyeglasses from in Seattle! I tried two of the other well known optical shops in Seattle only to have one tell me they couldn't make my lenses due to their lab not being able to make them correctly, and the other one provided frosty service and high prices. The experience here was completely different and a very happy surprise! This is by far the best Eye Clinic I've been to. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I didn't even have to get my eyes dialed (YAY) because they have some cool machine that can take pictures of the back of your eyes. I found the cutest pair of glasses, and the ladies at the front desk were super helpful with explaining how my insurance works, and how to get the most out of it.
