Went in for a routine exam and had a great experience! Everyone I interacted with was friendly and answered all of my questions. I saw Dr. Yu for my exam and she was wonderful - informative, friendly, and welcoming of any curiosities I had. Even without asking questions, she provided information about what she saw and helped me learn new things about my eyes (appreciate when doctors do this!). Space seemed clean from what I saw. I've been going here for more than ten years for my eye care needs. Unfortunately, Dr Riley, the only doctor I've seen here in all that time, retired recently. My visit this time, in summary, felt very cold and impersonal. The technician didn't even introduce himself, just seemed to be shunting me from station to station, and didn't listen to what I said. The doctor made little attempt to really connect with me on any personal level. Finally, the front desk was reluctant and dismissive about my request to get the PD measurements added to my prescription, as I was going to get my glasses elsewhere. I didn't argue with them, just noticed the attitude and decided that it's time for my long association with Broadway Vision to come to an end. read more

I guess they dont take handling your privacy seriously along with poor service. *** update *** Now they are texting me! Stating I am overdue for my annual eye exam, our records show your last exam was .... (2020!, 4 years ago). You would think they understand I am no longer a customer! I received a text before 8am :( which woke me up. FTC provides a method to sue businesses that are texting without prior authorization. I think broadway vision started a new marketing campaign and just gave out emails and now phone numbers without looking at opt out. Their response below is to contact them. Neither the email nor the text has opt out as well. Why should I contact such when I can earn $ for each text they send me. :). Easy free $ for me. They need to look and understand the regulatory laws! I sent email asking to be removed from the marketing email and confirm such. As stated below, they ask to send email, but, I still dont have a response but they respond here! Typical of the service. **** Dont walk away, RUN! This company refuses to comply with FTC CAN spam laws and uses your private and personal email for marketing purposes. They keep your email on file for years. I complained years ago and asked to be removed. I stopped getting marketing emails. Then today, I got one. There is no unsubscribe. They will spam you up the ##!@$. I regret ever giving them my personal and private information. I have had bad service issues in the past which is why I stopped going there and this confirms how bad the place is. read more

Terrible experience here. I did a regular eye exam which went smoothly but what I really needed was some specialty tests and I was told to make a follow-up appointment with the receptionist. She seemed to be multi-tasking or not all that interested in assisting me when scheduling the next appointment, but we found a date which I saved into my calendar. I asked if she'd like to see my medical insurance for the specialty tests and she replied with another lackluster "Sure, I guess." She physically took my card from me and I assumed we were squared for next time. I should've known this whole exchange was a huge RED FLAG. Fast forward two months, I hadn't received a single email or phone call reminder about my appointment. I tried to call the office thrice to confirm but no one ever picked up. Luckily I live close-by so it wasn't too big of a deal. When I arrive, lo and behold, my appointment isn't even scheduled. Okay, maybe it's a system error - I'll be flexible. I try to schedule yet another appointment and they ask to see my insurance card again. THIS TIME, I'm told that my medical insurance isn't even accepted. There was no point in causing a scene so I just left but I was absolutely livid. What a complete and utter waste of my time. read more

I've been astounded by how helpful the people are at Broadway Vision Source. I've gone in twice and both times they repaired my father's broken glasses while I waited. Samatha helped me this time and she was awesome; friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient. This place is so unprofessional. I've given them multiple chances over a year period. It's very much the type of clinic where you walk in and everyone is sitting around on their phones gossiping. The first provider I saw for an eye exam did not take my astigmatism seriously and fitted me with the incorrect contact prescription. I kept telling him they were blurry but I had to STRONGLY advocate for myself for him to even remotely listen to me and correct my prescription. I know when I can't see! I asked to change providers. The second provider was great, thank god. However, the clinic itself, especially reception, is a pain in the ass. They forget you're on hold, they're so unprofessional and they did away with the online ordering service so you have to talk to them. I gave them a year of multiple bad experiences and bringing my negative feedback to them directly before writing this review but it's time...don't go here. read more

I use to look forward to my eye exams and selecting eye-ware at Broadway Vision Source. I've been going there for years, and always felt well taken care of. Not anymore. My eye exams are always with a different person. At the last exam, the provider asked if I needed him to explain my test results and what was happening to my vision. (who wouldn't?) It was actually the most he had said during the exam. And I always get the optician with the smallest desk. You can't see her because she is hidden behind a computer monitor and a mirror that sit on her desk. Its all so perfunctory and non personal. I get the feeling they don't really care if I return, so I won't. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and have always had a great experience. I have seen Dr Ravuri for a couple of years and he is fantastic. He immediately puts you at ease with his friendly demeanor. He is very thorough and I have never felt rushed through my appointment. Must have been a bad day for the person that "tried"to help me. First the doctor is excellent. More the rest of the staff. They were more interested was if I was covered. They would not handle the plan that I gave them. In fact they processed my co pay wrong. They processed my coverage under my medical plan not my vision. I gave them my vision plan several times. Little did I know or understand - they never told me such several times - that they are processing this via my medical because they would not figure out my plan. They need to communicate better about plans. Again I was giving them X and they - without my permission - looked me up for my medical. Kind of a violation IMHO - but that's a different issue. Granted they are not - in network for my vision. That's ok. That means I pay and then I submit a reimbursement. It is clear on the plan site. They just needed to do a little more research - which I did after I left. Or communicate to me when I made the appointment. When I arrived she mentioned my medical plan. I said maybe that was my old provider. I gave her my vision provider card. She came back and gave me my card back and said your ok. She did not tell me it was my medical provider. Note: I hope the claim by my medical will get processed correctly. Again, it should have been my vision. Now the guy said you don't have coverage for lens and frames. I said that's weird. I was operating that I was covered when I checked in. He said It was with my medical - which had me concerned. I then called my plan to get clear. It took a few minutes. He disappeared to process my copay. He saw I was on the phone. That irritated him. I was on the phone trying to get clear on my coverage. Oh well I am trying to maybe buy glasses and he should be happy about that. It took a few minutes and the person on the phone said I am covered for lenses - fully - and up to 150 for frames. Lenses yearly and frames every two years. So, I relayed such. He said your not in network. I said that's ok I can still get it. He went online and started to point me to somewhere else. Humm. So I left. Note: I am covered and all I would do is pay for it myself which is what I said. Plus, if I found something I liked I would have just paid for it. I got enough in my HSA they needed to be spent before end of year. He did not know that and it's none of his business. He was just irritated I was on the phone. Again it was related to my coverage - not doing personal stuff. So, I would say - see the dr but don't buy anything from them. You would also think they would have given me my prescription so I can get lens elsewhere. Nope. I had to call to get. Oh how I wish Warren was there. He has best service. He would have also do a tune up of my existing frames - tighten screws / address any fit. Probably may not be back next year. Too painful and slow to experience. read more

I have been going to Broadway Vision Source forever and they continue to be the most awesome folks ever! I most recently made an appointment online and it was effortless. The front office staff are all so helpful and nice. I LOVED Dr. Leclaire and miss her fiercely so I was worried about getting to know a new doctor. Everyone here is so relaxed and professional though, I'm sure now that any doctor on staff would be great to work with. My most recent appointment started on time and I was in and out within an hour, including finding and paying for new glasses. John Willard is my favorite person ever and is so funny and friendly, helping me find stylish frames without being pushy. He also helped me replace my broken frames on warranty without even being asked! The frames selection is great for a small shop and they have stylish options in multiple price tiers. I never write reviews but I am so appalled by the bad reviews for this place I had to put in a good word! I drive an hour just to get here because the customer service is so stellar - don't miss this place! read more

I came here a little over a year ago for the first time because they were close to my apartment and they accepted my insurance. I had a good experience with the doctor, who was very pleasant and tolerant of my flood of tears after my eyes were dilated (I can't help but cry at eye drops, every time, without fail). They had a great selection of frames, although quite a few of them were in the high-priced end, and I managed to find glasses I liked, although no one really helped me at that point. I came back again for my yearly check-up because I was planning on getting another pair of frames (not from them) and at this point I've changed jobs and lost my insurance. Since my vision hadn't changed that much, they didn't even need to dilate my eyes. Score! The doctor was still pleasant, as was the front desk staff, but the reason for the star rating is the cost. I was in an out in fifteen minutes, after reading some letters off of the projection and having a light shined in my eyes. The price tag? $106. They didn't even give me a discount for no dilation. I highly doubt their operating costs are high enough to justify the price. I guess I'll have to wait until I have insurance to return. read more

I was in dire need of getting contact lenses. I had a appointment scheduled with them for over a week. They updated their system and when I showed up for my appointment I was no longer in their system. They found me scheduled in on the old system though. I was unaware of any of this and when I showed up for my appointment i felt like it was my fault and I should of known. They couldn't fit me anywhere nor could they find any other dates or times that could fit my schedule. Not helpful and they made me feel like and idiot. I have been going to BVS for 9 years, and have always appreciated my eye exams with Dr. Nakatsu and frames selection with Warren. Both of these folks are professional, thoughtful, and honest. They take their time to address all of my concerns and questions. Last year, the brand new lens in my sunglasses were giving me halos, Warren was able to figure out that it was a problem with the polarized film delaminating and replaced them for free. The front office and assistants are personable and friendly. The in office experience is pretty great. Seems like there have been major issues with the phone and voicemail recently, it took many calls and voicemails and emails over the course of almost 3 weeks to place an order for contact lens. They're really responsive by email for setting up appointments. read more

The front of office staff is pretty rude, and doesn't seem to understand that when people come in for an appointment they are there for an appointment. So weird. Also, they really push hard on the "retinal imaging" scan which costs more but has the benefit of not needing dilation - and then when I've done that they've ended up needing to dilate anyway, and then they charge that as a second exam, which insurance also doesn't cover. And in describing my eyewear needs, Dr. LeClaire took the initiative to send an adjusted prescription over to their lab, on the basis that she thought it would be better for my computer usage. It wasn't, and just caused way more eyestrain, and of course these glasses were freaking *expensive* because they were done in-house (and of course they keep on adding "value-add" things that make it so much more expensive, such a racket). They ended up costing me around $200 and I couldn't even use them; meanwhile, the $15 glasses I subsequently ordered from Zenni were pretty much identical, except they had the right freaking prescription! read more

Few things... You will pay a $60 fee if you say you're getting contact lenses for the first time. While I learned some great tips, I find the charge to have no weight. I was sold frames that I was told were Ray Bans but are actually some frame sourced from BVS themselves that are used with mixed-matched hardware and scratched frames. This is unacceptable. Also, turns out they were USED frames. Some staff were friendly, but rude ones definitely exist too. Went to pick up my glasses only to hear one of the sales staff cursing at my being there from the back room not knowing I was in the store. As someone has said in another review, it is a sales machine. I want to stress that there are truly some kind staff there and I felt supported through the process. However, the rudeness of some, the non-existent communication, and the overall quality of the product (my glasses) is the reason for my low rating. read more

Dr. Nakatsu has been my optometrist since 1998, so I'm long overdue for writing a review. I cannot recommend BVS highly enough and have referred many friends and co-workers over the many years I've been a patient. I have never had anything but a great experience (start to finish) at BVS. (Sure, over the years there may have been a missed phone call here or a longer wait there, but when does this not happen? Front desk people make mistakes, patients late before you can delay your appointment start time. I try to consider all of this.) It may be true that BVS is not for everyone, so I think it's unfair to compare with some other particular kinds of shops - it's not an apples to apples comparison. One of the reasons I love BVS so much is because of the incredibly personal experience I receive each and every year. Quality of service and product, in my opinion, is what's most important, and that is what you receive here. I've never seen anyone other than Dr. Nakatsu for my eyes, so I'll start there. I've been wearing glasses since I was 7 years old; eye doctors are not new to my life. Riley is friendly and approachable, and easily puts things in layman's terms. I'm very medically squeamish, and he takes special care to remember this about me and applies a filter on top of his doctor speak so I don't get woozy. I spend about half of the appointment cracking up... maybe that's on me, but it's a delight to look forward to seeing your doctor rather than dread the moment. John G, John W and Warren have all helped me with glasses over the years, and I have loved each and every pair wildly. I've never had to take frames back for re-work or felt pressured to buy frames I didn't want to. This group of gentlemen are patient, kind and VERY good at what they do. My benefits have always been explained clearly to me, and in some cases, my perception of my benefits were improved by the opticians at BVS. The fact that they are open later into the evening and part of the day (this is an optometrist's office, not Lenscrafters at the mall.) is truly a bonus - I don't necessarily take advantage of it, but a few co-workers I've referrred have remarked about what a difference that makes for them. I went this time and had a very negative experience. So it was almost like a "sales engine" if you will.The optometrist was incredibly nice but before after the exam, I just requested my prescription and off I went to the front desk. This time I was forced to sit with an optician. He was an older, larger man and acted like a used car salesman towards me. I said "I would just like my prescription please, I get my glasses elsewhere." He said OK, I can certainly do that for you and then CONTINUED to try and sell me their product!!!! Not cool! I just asked you for my prescription, please give it to me now. I asked again and he declined and tried to guilt me for going other places. People do want to go to other places you know and do not necessarily want to buy your super expensive glasses! Next time, I will simply ask for my prescription and will refuse to see an optician! This man was incredibly rude and how dare he refuse me my prescription! You will not get anyone to buy your glasses if you continue these aggressive sales tactics! I had a eye exam today and was appalled and extremely disappointed on the following things: -After noting several times that I had not been there in a long period of time, they never asked if my insurance had changed or for my insurance information till the end of the appointment. I did not find out till the end of the appointment that it was NOT covered. -The receptionist was so rude and seemed ambivalent to this issue. -The doctor could not finish my exam, because she had another patient and there was not enough time for my eyes to dilate. I wasted my valuable time, and walked away frustrated. I believe the insurance issue is something that needs to be faced at the begging of the appointment. Just stopped by. Not the place for browsing or an introvert. Super high pressure. The store is long and thin and descends a small flight of stairs over the length of the store meaning I kept getting trapped by employees blocking the way who would then ask if I needed help. Every single frame is locked to the display so anytime you want to try something on you have to ask for help from a clerk. If you're like me, you want to try on quite a few things meaning you have to ask for help EACH time. More pressure. They seemed surprised someone would want to just browse. Five employees for just me in the store and one person waiting for an eye exam. Do you struggle with theft SO much that need all this security? I got out as soon as I could and didn't look back. Finally an eye clinic that has after work hours! I had a great experience at Broadway Vision Source (that is not on Broadway). I only waited a few minutes before getting in for my exam and I was done in about an hour. I'm a first time contact lens wearer and they were patient with me putting them in and gave me a few pairs to try out at home. I didn't feel like they were pushy when it came to looking at their glasses afterwards and they happily handed me my RX to go elsewhere for my frames. read more

They explain everything they are doing, and provide any relevant option and cost information. I felt well informed the entire time, and taken care of. I saw Dr. LeClaire who was excellent. So I haven't had a proper eye exam for a while, one of those things I always like to put off that I shouldn't. I found out my insurance was going to run out the very next day which was new years eve and couldn't get in anywhere. Luckily Dr. Riley Nakatsu had a cancellation at 5. I am so happy that I found this place. They definitely make sure you get the highest quality of customer service. I figured they would rush though my exam since I was the last appointment.. Dr. Riley was very detailed and thorough and had a good sense of humor. He was also able to explain to me what was going on with my eyes in simple enough words that I could actually understand! Two thumbs up for John. His expertise with finding the right frames to suit my style was amazing! Not to mention he totally knew what I was talking about when I told him I hate wearing glasses cause they never fit right and always fall off cause of my Asian nose lol. I give him extra props cause he stayed late after they were closed to help ensure I was making the right decisions I never felt rushed one bit. You can totally tell they love what they do. Had my eye's checked by Dr Kim (as well as ordered contactacs) and bought new lenses for my frames with Warren. Dr Kim was very professional and attentive. She corrected my prescription because the contacts I was currently wearing were for astigmatism... she found I don't in fact have astigmatism and I was wearing wrong contacts for a while! She also introduced me to a newer brand of contact which are lighter, breathe better and overall feel great. Warren is extremely personable and you can tell he know's his stuff. I already had a nice pair of frames and he helped me find a pair of new lenses that don't strain my eyes. The old lenses I had also were also from the same place (wrong perscription) and really put strain on my eyes. In the end, all the corrections were made, I got my new lenses and I even got to order some sweet new sunglasses! I'd definitely recommend Broadway Vision source to anyone looking to get their eyes check, or even to just order contacts/glasses. I came early as instructed for pre-test and was not sure why the tech simply asks if I want to do the optomap which in my case should be mandatory. Do you want to tell me more about it? Do you want to check my file and see if I am a good candidate? Oh wait you are not the optometrist. I felt like cattle being pushed through in the wrong order. The number of issues that came up during my actual exam would have made a compelling case for paying for the optomap, which is out of pocket and more expensive at BSV when compared to other offices. I was held hostage for almost two hours as Heather LeClaire was both running late and then dilated my eyes, placed me in lobby and worked on paperwork. Why not recommend the optomap? Well she also searched the Web and figured out her lunch order to give to the reps that were in the lobby seating with me so they could have it ready for her while she still had to deal with me. You would not want to miss out on your free lunch. The worst part of the whole visit was that Heather is a terrible healthcare provider with no bedside manner and gave me a great deal of alarm and anxiety with all her careless remarks about the health of my eyes. I think some professional development courses on how to be informative in an effective, empowering way are in order and how about get a better system for crucial outtake notes than just scribbling orders on the back of a business card. I would only go back if I could be seen by one of the other optometrists. read more

The doctor (Dr. Nakatsu) was very friendly, and the examination thorough. Their frame selection is large, but on the expensive side. If you like hip looks, try out the Prodesign frames. I had two women help me pick out glasses. The first woman didn't impress me much. She but never gave me reasons. I pretty much had only my own opinion to go on. I came back later with my sister, thinking that she could help me make a decision. That is when I met Kelly. The wait was super long. I came in really early to fill out paper work and still waited over 20 minutes after my supposed appointment time before anyone even started my exam.... The frames selection is very limited. And they keep everything locked up so you cant even browse and try things on yourself without an employee with you. Super awesome. I splurged and went for the optional upgrade where they just take a picture of your eyes without dilating your pupils, and it was SO WORTH IT. Also, the girl that gave me my pre-exam was so nice! I forgot her name. Ugh. Anne? Annie? Anyway. After my initial pre-exam, I met with Dr. Matsunami. First off, he came in like 30 seconds after I sat down, so I wasn't stuck waiting in the exam room forever. Second, he really took the time to give me a thorough exam and went out of his way to explain why my eyes are the way they are. Very knowledgeable and very kind. He also explained that in my case, smaller frames would mean thinner lenses which would make my eyes look less 'buggy' in glasses. It's like he knew what I hated about glasses before I even told him. So far so good, right? It gets better. John (very patiently) helped me try on frames and when I couldn't commit to one, he ordered a few and I get to go back to try them on! I never felt rushed, and he was amazing at pinpointing what I liked and didn't like about the frames I tried on. He was also honest, which is HUGE. I'd rather have someone be like 'ehhh' if my glasses look terrible than have someone tell me they look great just because they're trying to make a sale and get me out of there. OH. And they got me in same-day. Actually, within an hour of me calling. I called like 5 places that were closer to my house and they were all booked for at least a week out. read more

Repeat after me: Warren Ruby is the best optician ever. They do not call him the "Wizard of Eyes" for nothing! It took some snooping for me to find where he had moved to after leaving Hour Eyes (as they wouldn't tell me), but man am I glad I found him! Warren has helped me over the past 5 or so years with some very delicate adjustments to my 50+ year old specs. And I am a *difficult* customer! He even got me through a recent crisis involving broken, obsolete nosepads and Krazy Glue, where other opticians would not have even touched them. Warren seems very happy in his new location -- the whole staff is friendly and courteous, and it is such a beautiful space, bathed in natural light. WORD TO THE WISE: Don't mess up your glasses during the last few weeks of the year! Everyone and his brother, cousin, niece and nephew seem to be cashing in on their VSP benefits, flexible spending accounts, or something during this time period. And, since BVS and Warren are SO GOOD, it's nearly impossible to get in during this time. read more
