I opened the door to this business and was promptly greeted by a vicious dog that was barking and snarling and clearly did not like me. This happened. Twice. I noped right out. Putting aside the fact that I wanted to get my eyes checked by a doctor, not eaten by snarling Cujo, this speaks very poorly of this establishment's level of professionalism. This is doubly true considering what they probably charge for eyeglasses (lemme guess, starting at $400/pair for single vision with no add-ons, amirite?) I LOVE Wink Eyewear!! I had been searching for a pair of unique prescription glasses for over a year and everything was similar and boring to me. When I walked into Wink, I was immediately in heaven. So many super cool glass frames to choose from!! I have already bought two pairs even though I really could only afford one! I just couldn't stop myself. I still love them both. I also had prescription sunglasses made from my old frames. They did a great job filling the prescriptions and stand by their work. Soozee, who runs Wink, is a fantastic help and so much fun, not to mention a very sweet person. Eye exams are available on the premises by a very thorough optician. Like, look on the internet for five minutes and all the glasses are at least 30-50% off somewhere else--at least the three frames I was interested in. I bent my glasses out of shape and was scrambling on Saturday to find someone who can fix my issue. I found Wink Eyewear and drove there. The convenience of being open on a Saturday was definitely a plus. When i walk in I'm greeted by a nice lady who took a look at my glasses and called it an easy fix. 5 minutes later and it was fixed as good as new. I pull out my wallet to pay and she says "don't worry about it it was so such an easy fix you don't have to pay". Some people shoe shop, some people clothes shop: I glass shop. Whenever there is an eyewear shop, I go in. If it is closed, I window shop. I look for sun glasses, reading glasses, and regular glasses. Since I've worn glasses since the 2nd grade, I've tried on a lot of glasses and shopped at trendy and not so trendy stores. Before I went into Wink, I had bought glasses at Market Optical (4 pairs), Ottica (3 pairs), Spex (3 pairs), in the last several years. I know the value of glasses as accessory, as well as glasses as a constant companion. This year was the year I had a prescription for bifocals, which was difficult for me because I like to wear tiny frames. When I stopped by the first time, Michele was helpful and understood. She even gave me the name of a great optometrist.. When I went to buy the frames, I couldn't decide she had so many great frames to choose from. I brought in friends and my husband to help me winnow the frame choice down. We kept finding more great frames. I finally decided one pair wouldn't work: I chose traditional librarianish frames that had kind of a houndstooth pattern for an every day look and then a pair of green and blue frames with citron temples for a more adventurist look. Guess what? When the frames came in, I loved the librarianish frames. I regretted the fun, daring frames. Michele offered to send them back and have me pick a comparable frame for a redo. I took her up on that (and when I wanted to be wild, regretted that decision too, but that's my deal, not Michele's.) What great customer service. She won my loyalty with that offer, and she never made me feel bad about it. Since then I've bought sunglasses, had new glasses put in old frames, and gone to a trunk show. I have never needed eyeglasses before and came here on a recommendation from a well-glassed friend. My eye exam was fun! I have no insurance, and yet I felt that the price was quite reasonable. Doc explained each facet of my prescription, she was nice, funny and very helpful. They did have a pretty slick curation of eye glasses too. They spent time helping me understand what shapes would fit with my face. Great place for classy glasses. read more

She helped me choose a new pair of glasses - and then when the glasses did not arrive as quickly as we hoped, she opened the store especially for me on a day they are normally closed so I could be fitted and pick up my glasses. My toddler severely bent one of the temple pieces on my frames and Michelle fixed it for me for free! She cautioned me that by trying to fix it, she might break the frames all together, and asked me if I was okay with that. I said, sure. I can't wear them as is, so you might as well give it a shot. Well, she did a great job. The fit is about as perfect as it can be considering the way the frames were mangled. I bought a new glasses case as a thank you, but plan to return to Wink when I need new frames. The store is easy to find in Columbia City and has a homey, relaxed feel. My family recently switched to wink in columbia city. Holy moly we are stoked. The staff is supersonic awesome. I laughed the whole time I was in there. They have a great selection of frames as well. The doc is incredible and explained whats going on with my eyes in a way that was easy for me to understand. This shop has really cute/interesting/unique frames and the owner (or whomever was working) seems very nice! I stopped in because my glasses literally started falling apart and I didn't have an eyeglass repair kit. The lady working was very nice and took the time to fix my frames and tighten up the rest of the screws too! I've never stepped in this shop before so I was very appreciative of her help. :) In general, the selection was a little out of my price range but not bad for designer frames! I had a chance to meet several women at Wink and everyone - the owner, the woman behind the counter and the doctor - were all fantastic. Great neighborhood vibe and I actually enjoyed the experience of shopping for glasses. The selection of frames suited me very well, and they even steered me away from a more expensive pair to one that was less money, but looked better. I can't praise Wink enough - they are the BEST! Their staff was superb, from the perfect prescription by the doctor, to the perfect measuring and fit from the staff; best glasses I have had in ages. I thought my eyes were really going bad, but I think it was the lenses I had before, that were NOT from Wink. Seeing perfectly, and wearing a cool new pair of aviators with a blue tint fade that turns into BLUE sunglasses in the sun, is exquisite! So, so worth it. read more

I would own hundreds of frames if shops carried glasses that I like in my Frankenstein head size. Usually I walk in, work hard to find desirable frames for 10 minutes, and leave. WINK eyewear is stylish -- the place and the glasses. A welcome addition to SE Seattle. However, for customer service, a big thumbs down. They sell expensive stylish glasses - - I would expect top customer service at this price point ($950). The proprietor said she'd keep me posted however I heard nothing and it took 4 weeks to get the glasses after calling and emailing several times because the order just didn't seem to be moving forward. When the glasses eventually, the lenses had a flawed coating. Replacement took another week. read more
