I am leaving a public review on Yelp because the Eyeballs feedback process didn't allow me to make the following comments privately for their "eyes" only. So as I've stewed for weeks my only option is to post my feedback publicly. Years ago, I had an absolutely terrific ophthalmologist who retired. So I was in search of a new glasswear and eye exam location. I used to work on the same block as Eyeballs (their previous location) and walked past almost daily for years. So when I needed to find a new vendor, I decided to try them 4-5 years ago. The service during my first year or two at Eyeballs was excellent. The woman who ran the frame part of the business was really customer-friendly and guided me to some of my favorite frames that I've ever had. And as an older person the doctors began to prepare me for worsening eyesight in the future. But nothing could have prepared me for my most recent visit. Again, I had been told to prepare that my eyes would degrade. I understood that. But when my eyes just *didn't work* during the exam I went into shock a little bit. And when I struggled during the exam, both physically and emotionally, the doctor was kind of (shrug), what did you expect? Not exactly an empathic response. Oh, I have a senior who had perfect vision for their first forty-five years and is struggling -- not my problem! On top of this, my eyeglasses case cracked and broke -- during the visit! Yes, the case was nothing special, except it had belonged to my deceased mother and had sentimental value. Again, the doctor kind of shrugged and said "we can get you a new case." And then didn't give me a new case. I get it. The vibe at Eyeballs is that they're a hip and cool location to get glasses and spend a lot of money. I, on the other hand, was a senior on Social Security requiring a little extra care who wasn't focused on spending money to look great for my selfies. But like I say above, they didn't even follow through with what they promised during the visit. On top of that, they didn't even offer to do the "basics" that I have experienced almost any time I've had an eyeglass appointment: They didn't offer to tighten the frames. Given that the Eyeballs location isn't even in my neighborhood I don't really see a reason to continue going to this business because they sure didn't seem to want my business. read more

My eye doctor used to be whoever was staffing the optical store at Target. There's nothing wrong that. But, in general the customer service is limited. I happened to be in the neighborhood when I saw the Eyeballs street sign. On a whim I decided to pop in. The staff were super welcoming and encouraged me to try on glasses even though I wasn't there for an appointment. The selection of glasses are fantastic. They chatted with me and even helped me find fun frames that fit my face. My Lyft arrived shortly thereafter and I had to dart out the door. A few days later I realized I hadn't had an exam for more than a year. I requested an appointment and received a confirmation within 24 hours. When I arrived for my appointment there was no wait time. I did take the optional retinal scan. My exam and discussion about my eyes was completed in 25 minutes or so. Dr. Cho did take time to let me compose myself and blink a bit when I got frustrated that I couldn't see the 20/20 line. Nice bedside manner. Sophia was super helpful in explaining my new optical insurance benefit as well as helping me select the perfect frames. My glasses arrived within three days. I know that isn't always the case but I'm happy with the quick turnaround. The team was just as friendly when my glasses arrived. These folks were wonderful through the entire process. So much so that my entire family has either seen them or has an appointment now. I'll definitely return next year for my annual eye exam. read more

I initially chose this optometrist mainly because of its location, but I had a really good experience with this office! The staff was quick to respond to my appointment requests and follow up questions via email, and when I was in the office choosing contact lenses and glasses frames all the staff that helped me were very knowledgeable and eager to help. The whole vibe was of the office is funky and young too, which kinda made a mundane errand pretty fun and enjoyable! What a gorgeous shop! I've been aware for the last few years that my eyesight isn't what it used to be. Whether it's just my age or the fact that I've stared at a lit computer monitor for work/college for the last 10 years of my life, I need to finally look into getting some glasses. I'm just starting out with the research process but happened to look on Yelp for highly rated places and found Eyeballs. The shop itself is incredibly cute and though it's small, I could not believe the sheer amount of frames they had for sale. I haven't yet made an appointment to get my eyes checked, but I think this makes for the perfect one-stop-shop. No one was trying to sell me on frames today as I shopped, and I was welcome to hang out and spend a solid 20 mins looking at frames, trying things on, and browsing the store. It was nice that I could be left to my own devices here and browse, and ask questions when I had them. Really easy way to shop! Some frames here are as cheap as about $100 a pair, and then of course they climb from there. Everything was stylish, everything looked well-made, and I even spotted frames made from as far away as Europe and as locally made as Portland, OR. Pretty cool! I'm planning to book an appt here with the Ophthalmologist soon and maybe, if needed, I'll snag a snazzy pair of frames for myself. Who knew getting glasses could be fun? read more

Yelp set up an super fun event to check out this adorable eye glass boutique on lower QA. I met some new yelpers, shared yummy bites and cocktails, then we all left with tons of goodies. I love working with small and local businesses such as this and would have never found this place on my own. You really do get much better customer service from boutiques such as Eyeballs. Usually the higher prices also come with "boutiques" type shops, but not this place. You can find quality frames for a reasonable and affordable price! I totally scored last night on a new pair of frames and their staff is super awesome about with finding the right pair. Granted they're not your standard designers known at Nordstroms, they're quality frames that are stylish and fun. Who wants something everyone else has anyway? The other thing I really loved is that they work with local manufacturers. The space is vibrant and fun. The staff are amazingly helpful. The owners are super sweet. Just got back from my comprehensive eye exam and couldn't be more impressed. Everyone was extremely pleasant to talk to, informative, and really clear in communicating everything from my actual retina scan results to which frames look best on me (much appreciated - I'm horrible with choosing). My concerns were listened to and explained perfectly, I didn't feel like anything I had to say was blown off which was why I sought a new physician in the first place. Pricing was absolutely clear and reasonable, the scan alone was cheaper than my insurance would have covered up to anyway! And something small but very neat, in my opinion, was the intake form had a section asking your preferred pronouns. Other Pros: Online Scheduling, and Later Appointment Availabilities for those working a 9-5. I will definitely continue to go to Eyeballs. read more

Dr. Quang is a well respected Doctor who is very knowledgeable in diagnosing eye diseases. He was able to diagnose and treat my daughter's Ambloypia (Lazy Eye) in her left eye. The staff from the receptionist to the Optometrist assistant were really friendly and great with kids. Eyeballs offers a great selection of glasses and contact for Men, women and Children. They also take many insurance and got me cleared through my insurance easily. The office is clean and inviting, great location to grab coffee and other goodies. Parking was great. I have worn glasses for three years now. The first year I came to Eyeballs and Lori sauntered over and got down to business and asked what I was looking for. I described a type of frame I was interested in and we ultimately selected a really nice multi colored Danish frame. Then last year I bought a nice basic pair of black glasses from Warby Parker and they're nice. The last business day of 2017, I roll up to Eyeballs to use my insurance benefit. It's raining and I have my dachshund, Hansel, with me. So we come in about 40 minutes to close and Lori sees me and saunters on over. I tell her I'm looking for big frames and she asked if I was looking for big lenses or chunky frames or both. I got settled in with Hansel and she began bringing over frames. While we quickly went through a dozen recommendations, I nailed it down to two, and then we talked it out. Initially, I was going to go with another matte black pair but she convinced me to buy the frames she showed me first, a really cool frame by Andy Wolf, an Austrian designer. The frames fit exceptionally well compared to the other frame I was looking at (and my Warby Parkers). I'm excited, it was really easy. I just had my eye prescription faxed over and bam. The team is nice, appropriately opinionated, and Lori will truly consult you through which frames she recommends for your face and why. I recommend! read more

They say the eyes are the mirror to the soul and I guess last time I looked in the mirror my soul was telling me that it was tired of my old glasses. So I decided to listen to my soul and check out Eyeballs in Lower Queen Anne. First of all I have to say that I really liked the vibe of this place. You know how when you go to the eye doctor or to get glasses the experience is pretty much the same no matter where you are, well eyeballs not only gives you a great visit but they also have amazing staff who are there to help you. I cannot say enough about how polite and helpful everyone of the staff people I interacted with were. What is even better is that Dr. Tran is a super guy who is very patient. I have had some good Eye Doctors in the past but I would have to say that Dr. Tran is definitely the best I have had in the Seattle area. I have a neurological condition that can cause problems with my vision and that really concerns me. I felt Dr. Tran took the time he needed to make sure my eyes were okay and this totally put me at ease. I do not want to feel like the doctor is simply going through the motions and I am just another appointment that day. Dr. Tran listens to what you have to say and also takes his time with you. I did not feel rushed here at all. I was originally told about Eyeballs by someone who had visited the office and Dr. Tran. He gave me a referral card and with this card they get $20.00 off and I also get $20.00 off of my bill. But that was not the only reason I checked this place out. I've walked by its location on Roy Street many times on my way to Emerald City Medical Arts or Metropolitan Market and it always stuck out to me. If you're driving here, there is a parking lot in the back which is very convenient. When you walk in you will be greeted by friendly staff that are not only polite and knowledgeable but also great people. They will totally treat you professionally and also have a great deal of patience, especially if you are looking for glasses. I am one of those guys who wants to look at a lot of different frames and I am going to take my time. The staff here never got upset or rolled their eyes at me like I have had in other locations. I figure if I am going to be stuck with these glasses for a year or two that I want to make sure I am happy with them. It took me a while but I finally found a great pair of Titanium frames and they had all the upgrades I wanted with them. I could not have been any happier. I liked they had a nice selection of frames including some unique designs. I am so tired of seeing the same old frames everywhere and Eyeballs definitely has a wide variety. If you do not see what you are looking for ask them, they have many more frames in draws that you can check out. If you are looking for a great set of frames, contact lenses or a vision exam I would highly recommend Eyeballs in the Lower Queen Anne Neighborhood of Seattle. I went here after going to a Yelp Elite Event ladies night. I was impressed with their cheap contact fitting fees and freindly staff. I wasn't disappointed when I went back to have them do my annual check up after being disappointed with the last place I went. The optometrist was friendly and knowledgeable, and since I didn't have any eye problems I was in and out of there super fast. I ordered my contacts, and they called when they were delivered. I was surprised at how fast it was since they said two weeks at the most it was less than a week when they got them in! Which didn't matter to me I had 2 months left with my last order. They have a parking lot which is small! If you have a truck like I do it's just easier to pay a few bucks for street parking. But it's nice they even have parking. So go check them out! I have a pair of awesome glasses from their huge selection that I'm "eyeballing" (hehe) and hope to get at my next annual check up. read more

The staff is really friendly, appointments are very easy to schedule (you can do it online!), and Dr. Q is great! I traditionally hate wearing contacts because I have astigmatism and prior optometrists had recommended me contacts that fit wrong, making me dizzy and my eyes irritated. Dr. Q did a great job of giving me multiple options so I could find the perfect fit, while also being conscious of cost. I know I can trust everyone at Eyeballs to be very thorough and genuinely care for my eye-care needs. I moved to Seattle relatively recently and I'm glad I finally found my go-to optometrist. I love these guys. I got a groupon for a discount on frames here years ago and have been returning for my annual eye care and frames ever since. The whole staff is friendly and kind and they have an awesome selection of frames. Lori recently went above and beyond though. I went in for an exam and ordered new frames just before COVID hit and everything got locked down. They sent my new frames to my home and I promptly bent them. :( But have no fear! I was over due for an eye exam and decided to see Dr. Quang. He was awesome. I've been to numerous different offices and he is by far the nicest and gentle doctor I have encountered. Eye exams are pretty universal from my experiences but what made him stand out is that he cared about his patients. I will definitely recommend my friends and family to go see him. Against my better judgement, I decided to try this optometrist rather than finding an ophthalmologist upon moving to Seattle. I went here for 3 years and this final visit sealed the deal to find a proper ophthalmologist. I could handle a few screw-ups, such as not informing me about the history of charging contact fitting fees annually (they claimed it has been a thing since the 90's, of which, it has not). I could even understand that they didn't give me the option of different prescriptions when I was between powers (I actually preferred the higher power lens, they gave me the lower). What I can not forgive is giving me a trial contact solution without proper instructions, after asking if I had ever used the solution before. I told them I had not, to which they said, "I think you'll like it". I traveled with this contact solution solo over Labor Day weekend. The moment I put my contacts in I knew something was terribly wrong. My eyes were burning. I came to find the solution they gave me required a special, non-flat case with a neutralizing element due to the 3% hydrogen peroxide in the solution. I spent the next 48 hours in agony and barely able to open my eyes. This is not an unknown problem with this solution and in no way, shape or form should they be giving out trials of this solution without the proper case for their clients to "try". I will not be going back, nor will my spouse. We really thought we found a good place close to where we live. I'm now going to be trekking to see a proper ophthalmologist for my optical health needs. read more

Eyeballs is one of those great finds that you just want to tell everyone about. Don't let the fun name and quirky vibe fool you, these people are serious about vision care and eyewear. I first had an eye examination by Dr. Nguyen, which was one of the best I've had. Dr. Nguyen took the time to explain everything he was doing during my exam and ask a few times if I had any questions. After many years of eye exams, I thought the process was just a generic experience of "one or two" questions. Dr. Nguyen opened my eyes to what an eye exam could be. Well, my eye exam confirmed my assumption that the days of using only readers was behind me and I now require corrective lenses for distance too. Sophia, the optician, was a huge help in paring down the large selection of frames to make my selection easy, and she took time to explain the different choices for progressive lenses and answered all my questions. Overall, it was a great experience and all the positive comments that I read during my search for an optometrist were not overstated. I cannot recommend Eyeballs enough. p.s. Just got an eye exam by Dr. Quang Nguyen! The office is very clean and has a great selection of glasses to pick from. There's also a parking lot in the back as well as free 2 hour street parking right around the corner. Knowing that I already wear Biofinity contacts and I stare at a computer screen all day for work, he recommended the new Biofinity Energys. I tried them on and they fit perfectly, just like the regular Biofinity ones I currently wear. I've been following with Dr. Q for some time, as he was doing his residency and is now owner of 2 locations! And yes, he happens to be my friend. But let me tell you how I know he is worth the time.. I'm sure every person is weary when they utilize their friends for professional services (and so was I). I was having problems with intermittent blurry vision during the summer. I've had contacts/glasses for over 10 years, so I know a thing or 2 when my eyeballs get whacky. He checked out my eyes and said my prescription was exactly the same, that maybe it was related to dry eyes and/or allergies (since i also have seasional allergies). I used allergy eye drops, both prescription and over-the-counter and my blurry vision went away with using these drops daily. When winter came, it all calmed down. When summer approached again, I decided to get LASIK done. I talked to Dr. Q about this bc 1) surgery (scary) 2) am i a candidate and opinions. He was pretty frank with me, telling me that my eyes are still dry which can cause post-op complications as the surgery will dry out the eyes more. He did advise we should try to take care of this before I do it. My vision felt clear though and didn't seem to bother me, so i went on with doing LASIK. It was an easy process, but guess what, SO MUCH COMPLICATION FROM MY DRY EYES. It was pretty severe that I couldn't drive at night because everything became blurry. We tried multiple lubricating eye drops. It eventually became better when I started Restasis . I regret not listening because I saw him still as a friend, not a professional and now I know that he knows what he's talking about! He continues to watch my eyeball progress and I am truly comfortable saying he is worth SEEING (get it? haha ). read more

Look, if you want your glasses ready in an hour, that's your business. But I'm a shallow person and I need to know my frames will always look better than anyone in my general vicinity. And that means taking the necessary time to ensure my vanity. I consider the following factors when I need a pair of glasses: - will the store work with my insurance? - does the store carry frame designers I like? - will the frames wrap around my fat head? Uptown Eyewear said "Yes!" to all three criteria. Maybe with not so much enthusiasm to my last question, but I was able to find a fashionable pair of frames without having the tumbles strangely curve around my head. I didn't have to fill out an insane amount of paperwork for my VSP coverage, overall the process was smooth as silk. And now I look better than everyone who buys eyewear in a mall. read more

I have to wear glasses for driving and I wanted to update my frames. I shopped around at a few local places and really like Eyeballs. I don't really get the red gloves hanging by the door but I do like the chalkboard at the counter to doodle on. There frame selection is decent enough and prices seem fair. Its the customer service that really won me over. I worked with Heather and she is just great and friendly. I don't know how well they work with the various insurances because I already knew mine wouldn't cover it. Heather informed me they would be having a sale the next week and I appreciated her honestly. Having to wait 2 weeks before I get to take my frames home does sorta suck. As promised, I am amending my review after finally receiving my glasses. As it turns out, Heather (who I was normally working with) was on vacation for awhile and returned this week. She immediately called me to apologize for everything and informed me my glasses were still not ready (on Tuesday), but that because of everything, the office had decided to give me a FULL refund, AND I was still going to get my glasses. Score! I walked over on my lunch break to take care of the refund and she was very sweet and courteous as usual. At first I was confused because I assumed I was getting a temporary refund and then I'd have to pay again once the glasses arrived, but she explained to me that they didn't want me to pay because it had been a ridiculously long wait. So I got my refund and was told that the glasses would hopefully be in by next week. To my surprise, I got a call today informing me that the glasses were here! I popped on by for a quick fitting and they hooked me up with some lens cleaner and cloths free of charge. On top of everything they'd already done for me, they bought me a gift certificate to Cafe Zingaro as a gesture of apology! I think they really gave me too much, but I'm tremendously grateful that this type of customer service still exists, and so appreciative of the personal care I was given in this circumstance. read more

The optometrist isn't a place that one dreads going to like the dentist or the doctor - but I think it's one of those places that really gets "put off" on the back burner as you continually just struggle to see things, or figure out how to "deal with it." But I assure you - there's something about being able to see properly that helps you feel better all throughout the day and night. And Dr. Q at Eyeballs is the BEST person to see when that blurry time comes. I was a member at two other places that specializes in glasses and whatnot prior to seeing Dr. Q. And both the other place would always get me in and out in a very reasonable time, always reorder my stuff upon request and all went rather smooth in all my transactions. But for over 15 years it was clock work transactions - I was always treated as a number there, and nothing ever changed. However, upon visiting Dr. Q at his Everett location once, I knew the service I was getting was top notch. And now he has his Seattle location as well which is a lot easier for me to get to I love it! Right off the bat - he noticed the contacts I was using was dated, he recommended me new ones and when I put them on, I felt like Aladdin on a magic carpet - and wanting to sing "A WHOLE NEW WORLD!!!!" It was literally a night and day difference from what I was wearing for the past 10 years and yet not one optometrist from the other location ever mentioned an upgrade or change for me. Dr. Q, hooked me up with some trial pairs of other brands until I found perfection for my eyes. I got new glasses through him as well. Him and his entire staff is very friendly and personable and professional. I just recently took my dad to see him and he recommended a few things that changed my dad's life! As he's been wearing glasses for over 50 years, he also needs bifocals - Dr. Q recommended multi-focal contact lens and they work great! Now my dad can splurge on some sunglasses, enjoy his Harley glasses free and go swimming and still be able to see! His previous eye doctors never gave him any options beyond getting different glasses... it's really proof that not only does Dr. Q knows what he's doing but he ALSO CARES. I'm not just a number, I'm a customer, a friend, a life long customer! Try him out! After 10 years of wearing contacts, I was sick of being blind. I met with Dr. Q to ask him questions about LASIK and to see if I was a good candidate for the procedure. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt. Dr. Q had me in and out of his office within 45 minutes and even stayed past closing to answer my questions. (: He informed me that although my sight isn't debilitating, I'd still be a good candidate for LASIK and that the procedure would also correct my astigmatism. He even recommended me to a reputable office in the area! Overall, I'm very pleased with my experience and would recommend Dr. Q at Eyeballs for consultations about laser eye surgery. Plenty of frames to choose from here, a little higher price range in general it seemed, though you'll still find frames in the $200 range. I came in, looked around, stood awkwardly knowing that I wasn't going to buy anything that I saw here, and tried to pick a conversation piece to make the exit a little less stifling. Incredibly helpful! I lost my contacts in transit as I was flying to Seattle and was calling around desperately trying to get same day replacements. Had an awesome opportunity to spend a Yelpy GNO at Eyeballs! We received raffle prizes, swag bags, some fancy St. Germaine avec Champagne and delicious bites! Lucky me won free eyewear of my choice! I was naturally drawn to the timeless SALT Lodin sunglasses. You can never go wrong with wood tones. Almost went for the Lulu Guinness "Patriotic" frames. I'll definitely have to come back for those! Great vibe from the employees. They were very welcoming, vibrant and enthusiastic! Definitely made us feel "at home." The store has very eye catching displays and the products made me wish I hadn't gotten LASIK (ok maybe that is stretching the truth). The store was filled with very unique brands and styles that brightened everyone's moods. The store definitely knows how to cater to the quirkiness of Seattle! Eyeballs is really a top notch optometrist. They have such a bright pretty shop, with a huge selection of great frames. They are all displayed prettily on little shelves and neatly placed in drawer upon drawer of amazing options. Truly there is something for everyone and every budget from $100 and on up for designer labels and such. They even work to carry frames from local companies, with come fun frames from a small company in Portland. When I went in I was helped promptly be their knowledgeable and friendly staff. The eye doctor noted an astigmatism which had not been addressed before. I was really worried about the new script due to my sensitive eyes, but they assure you can bring your glasses back if its off. Unfortunately it was a problem and they got me in quickly to get everything fixed. The doctor went through a lot of effort to ensure my corrected lenses would not be a problem. I was very impressed. When picking out frames one of the staff made a lot of great suggestions and was responsible for finding the frames I fell in love with and bought. They even helped set me up on a great sale they were running on frames which saved me a lot and gave me two sample boxes of contacts and needed them for a trip to Hawaii. Whoa! Overall the stuff go the extra mile to make sure you really feel taken care of. They are great at targeting their suggestions to your needs and do not attempt to push extra products needlessly. They have a great selection of frames and competitive prices on lense upgrades. I would recommend them to anyone. read more
