After a great day of doing wine tasting starting in Sonoma, we stopped at Bistro Don Giovanni for cocktails and pizza before going to Yountville for more wine tasting. Absolutely LOVE Don Giovanni and highly recommend it! ! My friends had made dinner reservations at Brix for dinner! I was excited as last time I was there it both the food and the service sucked! Well, We should have gone elsewhere! While the Ambiance is great, we had a very bad service and the food was mediocre ! We should have tipped the bus boy as we only saw the waiter at the beginning and at the end of the service when he dropped off the check. The restaurant did get busy but there is ZERO excuse for bad service at this restaurant as competition is fierce in Napa Valley! I had the seafood pasta which had 3 small shrimp and missing the clams! But it was loaded with garlic! We all had Caesar salad which was the best thing on the menu. My friends had the Sole fish dish which they thought it was OK. Did not want to complain since my friends had picked this restaurant. We had a lovely later afternoon meal on the patio. The space is so serene with greenery and wine vines right near the patio. Nearly all of the staff was friendly and welcoming and the menu had a great variety. We tried several appetizers- the crab fondu and mushroom cigars stood out. I had soup and potstickers which were yummy. The butterscotch/chocolate pudding and sorbets were also good. The dogs liked their dog biscuits. Overall I'd recommend Brix but be sure you bring plenty of cash. The lunch menu is pricey. read more

Popped into Brix for lunch. It's an unassuming friendly roadside stop for food and drinks. Salads. Fried onion strings (which really were amazing). Burgers. Fish. Drinks. You name it. It is chill and fun and friendly. It was probably the of better meals I've had in Napa. Stop in here before (or after) winery hops...it's beats the cheese plate at the vineyard. read more

When we asked about the pour she said it was four ounces. No possible way it was. We watched the bartender pour other glasses. No rhyme or reason to the amount, however I can tell you they were all short. $40 later for a total of four maybe five ounces total ( for two glasses) I will NEVER go back. The place was pretty empty and that could explain it. If you want to be sure your servers don't over pour put the cheesy line on the glass or use the small carafes. Not looking for a deal,or anything for free but if you're going to take my money please be fair about it. Steer clear of this place. read more

Was excited to be at Brix on a Monday nite before wife left town in the am. Hostess, manager, & bartender (our eventual server,) were all welcoming, professional & enthusiastic about our visit. We chose to cork a bottle at the bar and share dishes there. The MNF game was on tv, and that was kind of cool. Started with the Caviar/Dungeness deviled eggs (five stars,) followed by the tempura green beans, (another five.). Couldn't leave w/o trying the Friend chicken though. My first time coming in this location, but I do come to Napa often to go wine tasting well at least a few times a year it was Sunday night almost 9 o'clock a table of three we came in and sat outside. Our drinks and meals were fantastic. We had the filet mignon that was cooked to perfection Short rib, raviolis, and the seafood scampi. Everything was super tasty for dessert. We had the banana split and the butterscotch pudding, which were both fabulous if I had to say anything negative it would just be that the portions seem a small well at least the fillet dish, but the atmosphere sitting on the patio And the fact that we left almost an hour after they closed we were the last table and they never once turned up the lights or turned off the music which is how it's supposed to be. Brix has long been a staple of the Napa Valley. I haven't been for a while so I decided to give it another try. When we walked in the host stand was empty. We waited almost 5-10 minutes before a hostess showed up. Several restaurant workers could see us standing at the stand but none acknowledged us. In fact there was a couple behind us, and the man went into the restaurant to flag down the manager. He assured us that someone was coming. Surprisingly there were 2 ladies manning the stand. Why were they both on break? Hmmmmm... The holiday menu was pre fixed 3 course with salad/soup, main course and dessert. By the way , an la carte based on the limited menu would have been a good call. But I digress, onto to the food. I have pictures of all that was eaten tonight and I sampled them all so I'll stick with what I think was the best: Garlic Parmesan Soup: The soup was smooth and packed a lot of flavor. Delicious. However, the menu said brioche came with the soup but none was to be found. Imagine my surprise when I saw the waiters serving brioche to the couple across from us who also had the soup. Hmmmmm... Smoked Waygu Prime Rib: The meat was a perfect medium rare with smokey salted crust. The au jus was on the sweeter side possibly red wine based. I actually asked for more of it to dip the center part. Overall, a nice balance of salt and sweet. As for the side, I thought I was eating garlic mash but instead it was garlic polenta because it was smooth in texture. It was a little runny but flavor was good overall. Baked Hot Chocolate: This was clever in execution and quite tasty. It was some type of chocolate soufflé matched with dipping cookies. I think my favorite dish of the night. Our waiter was pretty good. Attentive, friendly and checked up on us regularly. Overall dinner service was slow and inconsistent. For example, the staff made sure our water was filled but did not provide brioche for the soup. I ordered coffee but was never asked if I wanted a refill. Little things like this determine if a restaurant is just okay to outstanding. The food was pretty good but other things distracted me from my experience. Restaurant is located at Kelleher Family Vineyard looking over garden where they grow their own ingredients and with majestic view of mountains and vineyards. We had reservations and were seated right away. Ambiance was great and our server explained the menu and gave us right enough time to order food. Food we order: Crispy Green Beans: Excellent crunch and the mustard sauce paired very well with it. Baby Beet Salad: As good as it was presented. Combination of fruits, beets, cheese just touched all the palate. Dressing had a distinct flavor and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended! Vegetable Salad: Again great salad and the almonds added great crunch. Salad itself was tasteful but after trying beet salad, you can't compare. Fire Roasted Cauliflower: WOW! Tanginess with truffle infused pure and brown butter simply amazing! Highly recommended! Wagyu Beef Tartare: Every restaurant has its own way of making this dish and Brix definitely nailed it! Caviar, Dijon, and mustard seeds added excellent taste and not killing the beef flavor. Garlic crostini Crispy Liberty Farm Duck Confit: Duck confit is a tough dish to make and once again Brix did it so well. Berries with salty bacon and mustard vinaigrette added a great taste to the dish. Duck itself was simply mind blowing! For main course, we shared: Short Rib Ravioli: Creamed sauce with asparagus and sun dried tomatoes added right texture and the short ribs In ravioli was cooked to perfection! Recommend this dish! Forest Mushroom Risotto: I am a huge fan of risotto's and I was not disappointed at all! Those mushrooms mix was epic. Must try. Cacio e Pepe: This dish was good but not as what I expected. There was a lot of sauce and seemed it was a bit watered downed. I was skip this dish. To finish off the dinner, we tried Expresso Martini and Kelleher Coffee. I was disappointed with Brix. The food was not terrible nor was it great, , I would rate it slightly below average. The service was very good. After we ate my adult daughter and her friend went to the bathroom, took a pic walking in, where you could see she was wearing an expensive pair of glasses. She put them down near the sink as she was washing up, walked out, and 10 seconds later said " oops I forgot my glasses." she went back after a woman had come out, and her glasses were gone. I was out in the car waiting when my wife and my daughters came out to tell me, and while I was out waiting in approximately 50-year-old woman came running out and jumped into a car and they took off. I thought nothing of it, but obviously it was the woman who stole her glasses. Went back in to tell the manager, and he was as uninterested in my story as he could have possibly been. We totally enjoyed this wonderful gem on the fringe of Yountville. We began with a local vintage tasting and delicious party appetizers in the beautiful outdoor grounds. Parking is complimentary and provides for easy access. We then moved into the cozy dining room for an absolutely delicious dinner. We had a reservation which is a must at this Yountville staple although walk ins are welcome. Brix has a stylish full service bar in the center of the room that can also accommodated. The menu is creative and varied to accommodate all tastes. Service was well paced and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Brix has a nice wine selections and provides scheduled tastings. Live music offered a nice touch of ambiance. I would highly recommend this restaurant that offers a great dining experience at reasonable prices. read more

Napa Restaurant Week 2024! We took the opportunity to enjoy another fabulous meal from their special menu this time. From the front door to the check the service was world class. The beautiful restaurant was full of happy people, and the white lights lighting the outdoor gardens were a nice backdrop through the dining room windows. We both started with a crab fondue, rich with flavors of Gruyere, Brie, braised artichoke and melted leek served with garlic crostini - wonderful! My caramelized Sea Scallops with a pile of chopped wild mushrooms and a potato puree was perfectly prepared and generous in size. My wife's braised short rib was tender and succulent, so good! Beautiful place and they made us feel special with a handwritten card for our anniversary. They have a nice outdoor seating area but gets cold, so bring a jacket. You can walk through their garden too which is nice esp during sunset. Service was a little slower than we would like but they were very friendly. I gave 4 stars because we enjoyed everything up until our entrees. The ribeye steak was mostly fat for a hefty price tag. The fish was good but would've loved some more spice or something. The crab fondue was our fave but it was served in a very small portion. The creole shrimp was very tasty and those shrimps were huge. The warm asparagus salad was fresh but also needed some extra salt. To end it all, the butterscotch pudding was phenomenal! By the sound of it, you expect it to be super sweet but it wasn't at all. YOU MUST SIT OUTSIDE!!!! Omg this restaurant just has the most gorgeous view outside! Try to go during sunset time. It really is quite impressive to see the sun come down over the hills. Out in the garden they have different kinds of fruits and vegetables planted. It really adds to the Farm-to-table vibe. They also had some live music outside and it was just beautiful. 10/10 ambiance The food was just as great! We were told by the owner of the Paradigm winery, Ren, that we must try the stuffed avocado for an appetizer, and we did. It was sooo so good. That is most definitely a must try! It was a perfectly grilled avocado stuffed with pimento cheese served with freshly toasted sourdough bread. YUM YUM YUM! For dinner I had the carbonara which was okay. I did feel it was a tad under seasoned. Still, the ingredients and the pasta tasted so fresh. Overall great place for a date night or a lovely night out in Napa. Definitely make reservations because it is a popular spot. Even if you don't have time for dinner, get a drink at the bar and walk around the gardens. It's so worth it! read more

We arrived a little early but could peruse the lounge (wine bottle chandeliers!) and the garden out back while we waited, or order from the bar inside while they got our table ready (patio). It was neat to see the grapes on the vine (Kelleher/Oakville Vineyard), orchard and all of the freshly grown vegetables and fruits such as watermelon, herbs, tomatoes, beans, eggplants, pears, citrus, and flowers too. Farm-To-Table at its finest. I had a glass of chardonnay to go with dinner but they also had reds, and we had a fixed menu, family style. Starter: Butter Lettuce Salad (radish, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, pesto, aged balsamic) Mains: Brix Fried Chicken (house hot sauce), Garlic Rubbed Tri-Tip (bordelaise vinaigrette), and Forest Mushroom Risotto Sides: Grilled Asparagus, Potato Puree, Truffle Mac and Cheese Sweets: Local Honey Panna Cotta (lavender shortbread), Carrot Cake (cream cheese and walnuts), and last but not least, a Salted Caramel and Chocolate Tart My favorite main was actually the mushroom risotto, hearty and earthy! The truffle mac could have had more of a truffle flavor and cheese. The best thing for me was the salted caramel and chocolate tart though! We booked the venue for our big day around month February. From day one Brittany Anderson was our planner. Around 500 emails I sent and she responded back with patience, the last 2 weeks she tried to calm me down ,since I was anxious for my big day. We booked 2 venues , block C and rose garden. We used rose garden as a wine bar station and block c as dinner reception area. Food was phenomenal, Cesar Salad was bomb and the salmon was juicy and tasty. The extreme and supreme part goes to the short beef ribs which has been in the wine and boiled for almost 20 hrs.The collection of the desserts were different and diverse. Our collection were honey panda cotta, carrot cake with lavender short bread,chocolate tart, salted caramel tart. The servers were attentive and trying to give us best service. The main server , Maria, started from first minutes and stayed to the last hours. We booked our venues from 5 pm to 10 pm. The wine collection was supreme. Our server got everything wrong. I don't think any single one of us got exactly what we asked for. The birthday boy asked for ravioli with no mushrooms due to an allergy. They brought the ravioli with mushrooms and were confused why we were complaining. Giving somebody food they are ALLERGIC to when they specifically told you they're allergic is not a joke. And to play it off like it's no big deal is actually crazy. Two of us asked for steak frites- mine: medium-well, with no mushrooms & truffle fries and the other medium cooked, mushrooms and regular fries. Mine came with regular fries instead of truffle fries, cooked medium rare instead of medium well with a little piece of mushroom on there when I asked for NO mushrooms. The other steak frites order came medium-well instead of medium. We had another order of Croque Madame with truffle fries and it came with regular fries. The bread was also super soft and soggy when it should have been crispy. They never brought the truffle fries out when they said they would so my sister literally didn't eat and sat there waiting for the fries for like 10 minutes before she realized the truffle fries were never coming. I also ordered a virgin passionfruit mojito that was super sour, but the server did bring me simple syrup to dilute it a bit. I ended up just diluting it with water to make it better. The mushroom risotto was also very underwhelming with no flavor. I think the only thing we enjoyed here is the ambiance. Everything else is terribly underwhelming. Haven't been to Brix in ages but excited to give it a try for Restaurant Week. Checked in with blase hostess who directed us to bar to wait despite seeing plenty of empty tables. Restaurant vibe was just okay after having time to survey. Then after we got our drinks she came back and directed us to a table not too far from bar. The timing just seemed a bit odd for us to wait. Server was friendlier than hostess and provided us with the Restaurant Week menu. I went with the Butter Lettuce Salad, Short Rib and Lemon Cheesecake. The Butter Lettuce Salad didn't take too long to come out but I was surprised at how small it was. It was interesting but not memorable. The short rib came up next and was the most disappointing of the three foods ordered. The short rib was cold and on a bed of cold cauliflower gratin. A nice busser did ask if we wanted to-go boxes since we barely only ate half of our entrees which we gladly accepted. The Lemon Cheesecake dessert was the only part of the meal I enjoyed. Presentation of dessert and flavor were both on point. While we were having desserts, over at the bar there was a loud droning noise from drying wine glasses. It was totally distracting and not what you would expect to hear during fine dining from a restaurant in the Napa Valley. Our server seemed nonchalant about serving us the whole night so the lack of energy was uninspiring. This was my first time at this restaurant. This restaurant has a private parking lot, I notice there was parking in both sides of the building, so you will not have a pro license finding a spot. The restaurant has a beautiful garden view. It looks like you can celebrate some events here: weddings, birthdays, baby showers etc. We really liked the food that we ordered: we started with the Creole BBQ Shrimp and Dungeness Crab Fondue both excellent starters not too heavy on the stomach. My friends main dish was Pan Seared Alaskan Halibut while I ordered the Shrimp Scampi. The pasta for the Shrimp Scampi was edamame fettuccine(gluten free), texture is not as smooth as normal pasta, I'd say it has an acquired taste so if you're feeling adventurous try it. (I liked it). The Halibut was over coconut rice, crab, shiitake mushroom, and sour card. Both of our plates were empty. We ordered the house wine and ended with gluten free chocolate torte which was thick and airy but it was good. Our servers were polite and friendly. Cole was nice to give us hints on the menu. The place is pretty pricey but I'd say it's standard for Napa Valley. I recommend this place for events, it has a beautiful scenery. But might check with them about rules for Pandemic :). read more

I dined with friends on Saturday evening, 5/3/25, at Brix for the first time. My friends had dined there before and said it was fantastic so I was looking forward to a wonderful outdoor dining experience. Unfortunately, it was not a good experience at all. The food was okay, not great and the service was terrible starting with our server who basically took our order and placed a plate in front of us. The weather was great until the sun began to set and since we were seated just off the patio in the gravel area we didn't feel warmth from the heaters on the patio. We waved down our server and asked if we could get a heat lamp and we were told "we don't have any" and he walked away. Once he left the table I could see 6 heat lamps over in another covered patio area (think private party area) which wasn't being used. Hostesses came handing out blankets to people at tables on the other side of the outdoor area, however, we weren't offered any. When we finally flagged down another employee to ask for some blankets there weren't any available. For the price you pay to have a great dining experience I expect more than what we got. My salad was 6 pieces of asparagus on a plate with no dressing or anything. As we left the restaurant we noticed another dozen heat lamps on the side of the property. There were others in the same situation as us and were also told "nope we don't have heaters". I can understand if they didn't have propane for the heaters. Tell me that and offer some alternative, if possible. But to be lied to was seriously disappointing and I will never go back to Brix. Such a shame. read more

We had all of the in-season foods that we wanted to eat while in the Napa Region. We are lacto-ovo vegetarians and the fresh vegetables and fruits were at their peak. The mushroom risotto was excellent also. The gardens were abundant and beautiful, make time to stroll among the fruit trees and vegetables. Wow the restaurant inside and outside is gorgeous too! Brix is a beautiful restaurant with lots of comfortable outside seating, live music, and a gorgeous garden set against the vineyards. This is a stunning place to hang out at, especially around sunset. But we came for dinner, so let's get down to the brass tacks: Upon first inspection, the menu has a lot to offer on both the food and drink side. Their wine list is quite impressive and has something for every budget (by Napa Valley standards). The food itself was lackluster, especially in comparison to other restaurants in Napa Valley, Yountville in particular, at the same price point. Truffle fries were a bit limp and low on flavor, the "cajun" shrimp were fine, but I didn't expect "cajun" to mean Tabasco, because it had a very vinegar-forward flavor. My friend enjoyed her scallop entree, my other friend said the halibut was tasty but the rice was soaked beneath it in a broth. I was pretty disappointed in the fried chicken. It was a massive portion--way more than expected and I still had food to take home despite sharing--but I felt the flavor of the meat to be really lacking. The breading was amazing--crisp and crunchy and finished with a sprinkle of salt--but had no seasoning beyond the salt. The chicken was incredibly moist, but again--flavorless! I was really taken aback. I also think it's pretty pretentious to sell soda and iced tea by the can/bottle. We're not in Europe where soda fountains are a rarity. I think the menu should also specify the price per can or bottle so there's no surprises. I would expect pellegrino to come in a bottle, but not to be given a can of coke. Service was initially really great--our server was attentive, checked in frequently, didn't rush us, etc. But paying for the check took unexpectedly long. Finally, while live music is always a treat, the volume was way too loud--I couldn't hear conversation at my own table, and we were on the far side of the patio. Some people really enjoyed the music and got up to dance and the artist even took requests. If I were to come back to Brix, I think I would take a glass of wine out to the gardens and chill with my friends before going to dinner elsewhere. read more

Just saw the non-apology by the manager that is similar to her responses to other negative reviews. Over a 3 hour long lunch event, the manager had ample time to check in and see if the biggest event taking place in the restaurant is going well. If I were in her place, I'd have refunded the whole money. And there is no way I'd give the place 'another chance' after they ruined a pretty important occasion for us. My family came here for dinner after some wine tastings in Napa, and we absolutely loved it! The restaurant and its surroundings are beautiful, the ambiance is relaxed, and the food is great! We started with the Truffle Quesadilla, which is every bit as luxurious as you might expect. It boasts a truffle tortilla, truffle tremor, truffle gouda, and hen of the woods mushrooms, and is served with truffle jam. If you like truffle, this is a must-order. It's outrageously good. We also got the Dungeness Crab Fondue, a rich combination of crab, artichoke, leek, gruyere, and brie, served with garlic crostini. It's mouthwatering and absolutely as decadent as expected. For entrees, I had the Sea Scallops, which came with potato puree, mushrooms, celery root, hazelnuts, and were drizzled with a black truffle vinaigrette. The scallops were perfectly cooked: a good caramelized sear on the surface and still tender inside. The mushrooms and hazelnuts were a particularly fun pairing with the scallops, and I loved the play between the subtle sweetness and earthy notes. My sister had the Forest Mushroom Risotto, which had more lovely truffle and parmesan. My dad had the Alaskan Halibut, which came with coconut rice, dungeness crab, shiitake mushroom, and hot & sour lobster broth. My mom had the Shrimp Scampi, but swapped the edamame fettucine for the pappardelle (the server recommend this!). I tried all of these, and they were all excellent, but I have to give special praise to the Shrimp Scampi. Let's get right into the food! Apps: -Tempura green beans: ordered these last minute but glad we did. Crispy, light batter, delicious mustard dip. Great little side. -Dungeness crab fondue: cheesy goodness, leeks, crab and garlic crostinis! -Crispy lobster deviled eggs: think a Scotch egg with osetra caviar! Delicious! Salads: -Butter Lettuce: crisp lettuce, crunchy pancetta, nice, light vinaigrette -Baby Beet Salad: cute presentation, love the beets and herbed goat cheese Pasta: -Forest Mushroom Risotto: truffle and parmesan for a decadent, earthy pasta -Short Rib Ravioli: grilled asparagus but very creamy. Def needed TUMS afterward Entrees: -Caramelized Sea Scallops: great to share. Mushroom, truffle, and loved the crunch from the hazelnuts -Pan seared Halibut: Dungeness crab, lobster broth, shitake mushrooms. Nice and light option Not a bad experience. This place really fills up. Loved the grape vine decor on the outside and the cute gardens out back. Watch out for the frogs, though. Sort of hard to see them at night! We stopped in for lunch after a morning wine tasting. The place is vibrant with a beautiful patio space outdoors. We sat in the heated outdoor patio area which was bright and lovely. We ordered the truffle fries, little gem salad and vegetable Alfredo. They were all solid dishes but not remarkable enough to warrant a return. Definitely would come back for drinks in the garden patio area. read more

The menu did not reflect what is presented on the web . We drove all the way there from Sacramento only to find the item we really wanted was not on menu. We decided to give it a try .....The avacado starter was salty as the ocean. Needed a ton of water to wash it down. The bread it was served with tasted of burnt toast . Not great for the palate as a starter. The burrata was tasteless as was the salad and dressing . The French dip was cold and the fries were small but very good. Servers were very good!!. The hostess that seated us was not very welcoming and was rather rude. I would not recommend this establishment nor would I return read more
