The patio seating is beautiful, and a main reason we came on Thursday. However, we also came here because in the past they were able to make a nice vegan dish with fresh vegetables by request. This time, the waiter did not want to ask the chef about vegan options. When he finally supposedly did ask, he ended up serving me four full vegetable side dishes veganized on one plate and charging me about $45, adding up the cost of the sides. It wasn't appropriate proportions, portion size, or flavorful, as one meal. The asparagus and edamame were okay. The cocktails were mediocre, but I would still just come back for cocktails, no food, next time to enjoy the garden. Wish they would just master one vegan entree and put it on the menu. read more

North of Napa, this was one of the restaurants recommended by guides, so we made a reservation. Specifically, the setting was the rave--the mountain view and the kitchen gardens are just west of the restaurant and the evening sun shines over them and onto the patio. We watched dishes being delivered to surrounding tables before directing our attention to the menu. The fried chicken entree was substantial and looked delicious and the scallops were plentiful and beautifully seared (I don't eat them). We ordered the tempura green beans as an appetizer and it was unique and flavorful. Desiring a lighter meal, I ordered the mushroom risotto, which came served in a crock that made it look like less than it was, topped with pea greens. My companion ordered the short rib ravioli, served in a pasta bowl that dwarfed the contents. I believe there were about 6 ravioli, although I didn't count them. But suffice it to say we were disappointed with the portion size of her dish after seeing the orders around us. Both dinners were pleasant but not overly impressive. We ordered the s'mores dessert for $15, which came on a wooden plank with a fire in an urn to be used to roast the homemade marshmallows. There were just enough pieces to make 3 s'mores--homemade graham crackers and bits of chocolate. I wasn't as wowed as I had hoped to be, and for $15, I thought there should be at least enough for 2 per person. I suppose 3 for one person as an individual dessert would be more than enough, but so would $15 for a dessert. The Good: The food here is very good. It is very delicious. Our food came out quickly and hot. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very good. Lots of windows for excellent lighting. The outside view of the garden is amazing. The Bad: The food size portion is a bit small. And the prices are slightly expensive too. Because of the outside garden there were a few flies inside the restaurant. My second visit Came here a couple days ago but this time for lunch. I actually enjoyed the lunch a lot. The food was very delicious and had lots of flavor. The tomatoes were very juicy. The staff as expected very friendly and helpful. I felt the lunch portions to be much more balanced than dinner. Rather disappointing experience. Nothing too special. Short ribs were nice and tender but uninspiring sauce. Cauliflower on dish was good. Flatbread was decent but nothing better than many other places. Wine list was extensive but a very limited selection of reasonably priced wines. Maybe only 10 Cabernets out of 100 were under $100. We came here yesterday for napa valley premiere tasting event, they have very good small bites for the event, so we came back for lunch the next day . The service was excellent, they took us in before our reservation time . Their crab cake was very fresh and yummy and made from scratch. Their beef and bologna pasta was excellent as well. Superb restaurant. I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner here on a Friday night. The staff is outstanding. Very attentive and friendly. The food was superb. We started the evening with a few different finger foods, including a kebab, a mini quiche and a crab cake. For dinner, we had the baby greens salad for a starter, and the option of filet mignon or salmon entree. For dessert, we could choose an apple and cherry crisp or chocolate molten cake. Our waitress was a pro and made our evening amazing! Some great appetizers, one on the menu, the green beans, were perfect with the spicy mustard and another item as one of the specials was perfect. Great place for a Sunday brunch with a gorgeous view of the vineyards. I'm usually not a huge fan of buffets as I can never eat enough to make it worthwhile. This buffet is actually decent price and a good selection. There's a cheese & bread spread, fresh oysters, smoked salmon, made to order omelettes, dessert table, pasta, salads, ceviche, etc. reservations are recommended as it's a popular spot for brunch in wine country. There are not enough stars to say how much we enjoyed lunch at Brix. Absolutely nothing more beautiful than the view from their patio. Food was beyond delicious. Manager stopped at tables to check with guests. It was also beyond relaxing. Never felt rushed. Brix has had an extensive remodel that is amazing. Conversation areas through the gardens. I am amazed at how many 5 star reviews this place gets. It is not that great. The food is def good - no doubt about it. But for a place that is supposed to be so seamless - I had some concerns. One being it was so completely awkward to sit outside as each table sits right next to each other. Literally the tables are inches from each other which leaves it completely awkward when you can hear every word of each other's conversation. For such a nice place no one thought of mood music to make it a bit more comfortable since the pack people next to one another? There was plenty of room outside so I have no clue why we were all sandwiched together. I felt the type of people, at least a good handful were snobby and it just made it so weird, we ate quickly, paid and left a great tip but won't be back as there are far too many other options in the area that make for a beautiful dining experience. read more

We had lunch at Brix recently and had very mixed feelings about it. The decor is lovely - and had it been a sunny day, it would have been really nice to eat outside on the patio, but alas it was raining, so we stayed inside. First negative - no bread comes to the table. Just three bread sticks for each couple. When two of us asked for more bread sticks, three more were brought to each couple. Hello? We were enjoying a lovely bottle of wine our vintner friend had brought us and it would have been nice to enjoy a few more bread sticks, thank you very much. Next surprise was the portion size when the meals came to our table . My husband's smoked duck Cobb salad was very small - and there was no presentation at all. Just some mixed greens and relatively few pieces of excellent smoked duck. He had asked for his avocado to be on the side - and it was, in a tiny dish with a few pieces inside. Really surprising. The person who got the shrimp scampi needed to have very little appetite, because there were four shrimp on the plate. Tasty, yes. I had what was deemed the best meal of the lot - the short smoked salmon with celery root croquette, mushroom duxelle and baby arugula. It was not only excellent in all ways particularly flavor, but there was a decent sized portion of food, which for $28 seems reasonable. This place has been our little family tradition for the last 5-6 years. We come here strictly for Sunday brunch two times a year. One during our anniversary time and once again around Thanksgiving. It's a cute little restaurant with great outdoor seating overlooking the Napa valley mountains. In their outdoor area in the back, they have their gardens and grape vines. Now the food, it isn't a huge buffet with hundreds of selections. But even with the few things, the quality is soooo good you can't go wrong. I notice that the menu changes based on season, etc. but a couple things that they always have during brunch is the unlimited fresh oysters, large prawns, baked clams. Big reason why we come in the first place. They also always have the sourdough pancakes which are my all time favorite!!!! I can't wait to go back again in February. read more

Went to Brix tonight and it is a beautiful restaurant, as are many in the area, but the food was beyond sub par and not worth the price tag attached with it AT ALL. We ordered 3 pastas and the pot stickers and all were severely average that you could find anywhere. I don't consider myself a food connoisseur and I still was so disappointed. The staff weren't overly welcoming including the hostess and waiter who was upset at us wanting to split a check in 2 even with us being overly nice and saying if it doesn't work that's okay! We sat in the outdoor patio and it was beautiful. I wish their gardens were a little more lit up at night so you could see. We ordered and shared the thai soup, Chilean sea bass, and the scallops and they were all incredible. The soup was so velvety and the scallops were like butter. It's a shame we had a below mediocre experience. The ambiance was so gorgeous, I really hoped it would be better than what I read in previous reviews. Our server was friendly, but food took a VERY VERY long time to come out, about 25-30 minutes in-between courses. By the time entrees arrived, my husbands prime rib was cold and undercooked (ordered medium, came out medium rare). We sent it back, didn't want to wait for a replacement. Crab fondue, butterleaf burrata salad and ice cream sundae were all pretty good. My entree, pan-seared Alaskan Halibut was meh. The beauty of the property deserves equal service and food. We have passed by this restaurant more times than we can count and finally made a reservation. Was a bit hesitant with our choice after reading some of the other reviews. Happy to say, our experience was wonderful. Super friendly staff (very enthusiastic and personable, best server we had on this trip or any other of our trips to Yountville/Napa/St.Helena...her name escapes me but she was not alone in providing great service, we overheard many people thanking a guy named Robert for great service while we were there and that guy sure did hustle as his tables seemed to be scattered around that night. The food was good (this is high praise after a long weekend of over-indulging, especially after a big lunch at Bistro Jeanty). Was almost going to skip as we were not really hungry but wanted to finally give Brix a try. We had the seafood fritto misto with calamari and rock shrimp. It was light and crispy, topped with cilantro. It was paired with a sweet chili sauce but I thought it was nice/delicate on its own (a quick/light dip is all you need). During the pandemic haven't made fried food at home so this along with the French fries that came with the steak frites satisfied that craving. The steak was paired with onions and mushrooms - good - but didn't knock my socks off. However the halibut was divine! Perfectly cooked with amazing flavor and texture combinations. We finished off the meal with the strawberry rhubarb crisp topped with a creme fraiche ice cream and it hit the spot. If we were hungrier we would have tried the rib eye or at least a side of the Mac n cheese. I'm not a drinker and appreciate a place that offers nice non-alcoholic options and they had two that intrigued me - a passion fruit mojito and a blueberry lemonade. The waitress recommended the blueberry lemonade and it was good, pretty sweet which you may or may not be looking for. My husband had two glasses of the sauvignon blanc from the vineyard next door and thought it was nice and light. We wish we had come earlier as it apparently is a great place to watch the sun set over a vineyard and the restaurant's garden. The owner invested in quite a few Adirondack chairs for people to enjoy a glass of wine and the view. We came the 2nd night the restaurant re-opened after a 2 month shut down due to gov't covid restrictions. No temperature taking or asking for info for contact tracing like we experienced at other places. But same rules of masks on expect when seated were applied here. We were nestled in-between a tangerine tree with a space heater with cafe lights above. My husband thought it was the nicest outdoor dining experience we had during this trip! They had hand sanitizer on the table and tried to separate staff from having only certain people delivering food and certain people taking away used items to reduce any cross-contamination. They weren't quite successful in that as I think they were understaffed (70 degree weather in Feb brought a ton of unexpected people) and just getting back into the swing of things. Dog lovers stay away. For a place with outdoor seating, they are not dog-friendly at all. It may very well be their policy not to allow dogs which I can respect but they resort to citing the non-existent law which is more infuriating than just simply say that it is their policy not to allow dogs. If you are a dog lover, your hard-earned dollars are better spent at establishments that welcome well-behaved dogs, which to many of us, are equal members of our families. The attitude of the staff is this particular restaurant is arrogant and borderline rude. I've spent hundreds and hundreds of my hard-earned dollars here before but never again. Not great. I'm sad because it used to be such a great place! The hostess (short brunette hair) took us to our tables, dropped our menus and turned and left before we even got a chance to sit down. Martini glasses are the size of my pinky finger. Waiter was eh. Got my plate of scallops- had 2 and found a giant HAIR in the scallops and under potatoes. He took it back for a new plate. We had lunch here on Saturday. We thought it was great. Amazing ambiance, great service, really good food. Aside from the morons that were both face timing on their phones it was fantastic, but that's not the restaurants fault. Just hope those Jack-Wagons might actually see this. We saw their menu online and went for the entree but they were only surging Sunday Brunch Buffett. We weren't too hungry but we were already there so we figured why not. The location was gorgeous. Outside seating and garden can you walk around in. We sat inside by the window. It was a gorgeous day, great food, and great service. So many selections for a buffet and it wasn't your typical eggs and sausage. It pains me to write this, but seriously was I the only person not intoxicated while dining here during Sunday brunch? I'll stick with the positives first though, which include: the gorgeous patio and the great service. The sourdough pancakes, the bacon, ceviche, and the fresh fruit salad were the only things that I thought were tasty. The duck confit hash croquettes and garlic tri-tip were alright, but I couldn't taste any garlic on the tri-tip and it looked kind of dry (though didn't taste dry). The meats from the charcuterie looked somewhat questionable, because I saw some edges of one of the meats look kind of grayish...definitely skipped that. There weren't many attractive choices for the salads, and for the wood oven portion of the buffet they only offered roasted potatoes, thin pizzas, and a veggie quiche. They had a small seafood bar which included: oysters, little neck clams, cocktail prawns and smoked salmon. I was excited about dessert, but it fell pretty flat too. The lemon mousse cake was probably the best dish besides the fruit salad. The cupcakes weren't bad either. However, we were so excited about the fresh (I waited til they put it out) cinnamon donut balls, yet they weren't hot and they didn't have any oomph. I also agree with some of the Yelps I've seen here too, there are some flies flying around some of the food! I appreciate the fact that they do not make huge quantities of food to be sitting out underneath heating lamps, but the selection is very limited and the taste for much of the food isn't there especially for $38.50! Ambiance - Amazing view. Very clean and staff well trained for covid related procedures. Bar Service - Bartender (male) extremely unprofessional. Rudely instructed me to wait by the designated area for ordering when I by accident tried to pass through the back of the bar. It was our first time and the back area looked like a passage way. Was given no clear direction to have our drinks. One server (female) rudely asked us to stay away from the table where we decided to have our drinks. Food service - Server was professional and very attentive. Food - Worst steak we've ever had. Ordered medium well and got it rare. Very salty fries. The seabass was swimming in salty broth with a very small portion of rice. The crab fondue was delicious. Manager however did not charge us for the steak after we complained.
