Brought the family out for a spooky time. This has been the best haunted house so far. Really entertaining inside and out.

So here is how i rate each part of the experience in comparison to other haunts I have been to. 1. Location - 1 star - No ambiance no wow factor never thought i was even near an asylum. 2. Actors - 3 stars - Makup was good for most. Some came out of character. Lack of energy. Forced you to move to the next room before it reset. 3. Props and Decor. Tunnel - 4 stars - Very well done first 5 min was the best part of the night. 4. Props and Decor Asylum - 2 stars - It is an asylum right. Not sure i followed that throughout the entire experience. Only in the very beginning did i get the feeling I was in one. After that it was all over the place. Maybe i missed the message here but Decore didnt cut it. Props were cool some things like the GIANT hand or the Crocodile that was fun. 5. Fear Factor - Asylum - 1 star - Not scary at all. More than likely had to do with being at a non touch event and the fact that the actors were telling you to move forward before the next room was reset. 6. Fear Factor Tunnel 3- stars- Although I do not scare easily I did get the feeling of doubt in my body when I entered the first room of the Tunnel. Again as I mentioned before the best part of the entire haunt. So I gave this experience 3 stars. 7. Staff -2 stars- Young, Not managed, inexperienced, Not all the way horrible yet some were very rude. Overall this was not a great trip Went last night with my normal mob of Haunted House fans. We purchased the attraction combo. @ $45 including tax. Showed up at offsite parking short buses were waiting there for the trip to the Asylum. After being dropped off , we walked down an alley to warehouse - Not an Asylum. The vibe when we got to the location (warehouse) was boring. There was 1 actor who actually got our attention and stayed in character the entire time. Unlike the many other haunts I have been to there was no ambiance. No theme that you can put your head around. For a location open throughout the year I would have expected much more on display to let me know where I was and what i could possibly expect. Moving on... After being corralled like cattle for 20 min or so we were shipped to the Tunnel. Initially I thought this was going to be amazing. The entrance was great the first actress who greeted us was awesome. She took us into our room and this part of the Haunt was by far the best and only good part of the entire night. It was done very well and really the reason why the entire haunt got 2 stars. From that point on the entire night was worthless. Being told by actors to move along as we were waiting to go from one room to the next made for a horrible experience. Most actors did not even get a chance to reset before we got to the next section of the haunt.(Very poorly managed time ques need to be worked on for a better experience) The props and decor were very nice as I state in my overall grading. The main Asylum was next. I was thinking this has to be better. Again the props and decor were done well. There were a few nice things done here. We then come to the poor management of the haunters. Telling you to keep moving kind of coming out of character. I was not impressed at all. After we went through the bubble machine. The 2 5 min escape rooms were next. Bomb Squad and The Device. Another disaster, After 45 min wait line and a nasty attendant we got into the Bomb Squad first although we were in the line for the Device. 5 min to defuse a bomb. we had a few to many people in there with us and never got it done. It was not that good. The Device was next and we had just the right amount of people in our group to get this escape done in 2 min. It was kind of exciting to be able to complete this quickly because that meant we were able to go home for the evening. I would not recommend this to anyone who has gone through many Haunted Houses. You will fell screwed over by the $45 price tag. I did not do the 1 hour escape rooms so I can not comment on them. I may return to do one or both of them in the winter and at that time I will update my review. As it stands if you want to go to an Asylum Haunt this is not the one. Drove here with a couple friends from Manhattan- first and foremost, if you get there early you will not have a long wait like everyone is complaining about (which is why we got there early, read these reviews!) there's nothing much going on outside the asylum..even the characters walking around were limited and underwhelming. The haunted house itself was very well done, impressive sets, scary...but I'd say what made it a little less scary is that it wasn't very dark- I feel as though pitch black is where you get really scared, but there were some good scares, it was long enough, lots of interesting rooms, worth the $25. Not as scared as I would've liked to have been but I did let out a few solid screams! Overall a well done house...lacking exterior entertainment and fanfare. Scary enough. read more

Brought ticket for a Sunday at 9pm. There was no parking so be sure to get there a little earlier . The employees on the outside were very helpful. Once there i had regular admission tickets , the line for fast pass tickets was long as well. The total wait on line for regular admission was 1 hour. (Ugh) so i recommend you look on at the weather before you go because the line is outside so if it's a cold night make sure you are well dressed Once through the line it was the tunnel haunted house first which is about 15 mins long an it was I guess scary. The actual haunted house was scary and was about 15 minutes long. It was a good experience . Expect a long wait time is mainly my suggestion . Also a lot of people were smoking cigarettes an vapes on the line so beware of second hand smoke The scary employees characters interact with you on the line an allow u to take pictures I did see someone get kicked out because they were drunk so make sure you are sober before you go. Lastly there are no bathrooms only 3 DISGUSTING port a potty's so make sure you use the bathroom before you go. If you use the port a potty be sure to have your own napkins to wipe yourself and be sure to have hand sanitizer for when you finish using the bathroom . The crowd is mixed an it was a fun experience . If u do plan to come here make sure you don't have important plans after because you dont know what time u will be done depending on the line . read more

Definitely worth a go at it. You must do the tunnel and asylum together, it makes the experience longer. Go early to avoid the long lines. When you go have an open mind, remember your there to be scared. Actors did their best to try to scare you and they made it fun. read more

The best haunted house I've gone to so far. I dropped my phone in the asylum (yes, i did) but they found it very quickly. The staffs were all very nice and sent people in to look for it immediately. Thank God they found it. 10/10 recommend this haunted house. read more

I came here with my boyfriend on a spontaneous date and I must say it was one of the greatest experiences I have been. My favorite rooms here was with the creepy chain saw man who followed me mid way throughout the house. I would definitely recommend everyone to come here. read more

Awesome time had by my group. We did general admission and it was much longer than i expected. Very elaborate props, well worth the visit.

Went tonight. Parking lot was full. Drove to the other lot and saw at least a hundred people inside and one little school bus pulling out, so we just found street parking not far away. NBD. My fiance and I both decided to wear the glow necklaces, since taking them off is always an option (not knowing what to expect, we gave it a try). Honestly, it wasn't bad for me. However, my fiance got it a little worse. She's very androgynous looking (not to mention tall), so I'm assuming the actors mistook her for man. And I get it. It's dark, she's 5'10 or so with short hair, it happens. But because of this within only a minute or so inside the actual attraction (inside the elevator, after the "experiments" portion) she was forcefully grabbed by an actor and pushed hard against a wall. She wasn't injured, but she did say it hurt. I would just advise that the staff (possibly the ones screening everyone before they enter or the costumed actor who recites the rules) communicate to the other actors inside info that could plainly be seen in the light. My fiance has a feminine face. In the darkness, I can totally get someone mistaking her for a very slim man, but someone could have radioed the actors, "hey, that tall person in group X is a chick! Don't be so rough!" I'm assuming it's not a situation that arises very often and therefore I totally understand not being prepared to handle it, but hopefully this review helps for the future. Clearly the actors go a little harder on the men (someone caressed my face and grabbed my arm, but that was about it - while the men in my group definitely had more "violent" contact), so maybe making a point to educate staff on LGBTQ identities and the different ways we all look could be beneficial. As for the attraction, the beginning was fun, the middle not so much. There were really very few actors in the first attraction. Or two attractions, I suppose. Which is misleading, TBH. And not very clearly posted. We walked around for a bit trying to find the "third" attraction only to be told we had already experienced it. That was a letdown. The upstairs portion is newer and definitely where they are putting all of their attention. There was at least one actor per room, while the downstairs was less heavily populated. Balance is key and this really wasn't balanced. Also, when we went to do our 5 minute "escape room," there was absolutely no one behind us and they still forced us to go with a group of 6 ahead of us that was totally filled with children. And the "victim" didn't even remember what he was supposed to do, so we basically stood in the room looking at numbers for 5 minutes. I had even guessed right what the purpose was, but the kid couldn't remember what the instructor told him to do. Kind of a waste and could have been way more fun if we had been allowed to go in ourselves. read more

Brilliant haunted attraction. 100 percent suggest coming here. Some of the best set design and detail I've had the pleasure of seeing. Actors are fantastic and never break charcater. Will continue to come back and will always recommend. Great place to go for a walk-thru and be scared! Went here this past weekend, I was so afraid to go but I actually did better than I had imagined! The zombies, clowns etc walk around outside while you are waiting on line and the walk thru is about 15 minutes give or take. Wow.. I had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised! I've been to quite a few in the tri-state and ended up being disappointed. We had the fast pass so we didn't have to wait long at all. I thought it was worth it because I saw tons of people waiting in the other lines. I screamed quite a few times and thought the actors did a really good job! Oh and they're not allowed to touch you unless its contact night which is on Thursdays. I don't want to give anything away because I'm a firm believer in surprises. If you have any physical limitations...you may want to contact them to see if this is for you. Even though it's one level, there are areas where there are stairs and the floor may be shaky. But I seriously tip my hat to the production team! I'll definitely come back! read more

My friends and I went to Brighton Asylum Saturday night. We had an incredible time!! The sound effects, costume, and scenery were all top notched. We were lucky enough to have an escort, Amanda join us as a favor, and we couldn't have made it through without her! The place was great! The props and attractions were cool. However, the one staff member was extremely rude. This was our first time here, so we did not know where the entrance was (since it is dark and we were walking by ourselves). We come across somebody to finally assist us and he was EXTREMELY rude saying this is not where we were supposed to enter. Then starts yelling in his walkie-talkie..so we start walking away to find actual help and he yelled saying "don't walk away when I am talking to you! You don't walk away when I am talking to you." And continued to lecture us. HE was just very rude and it was extremely poor customer service. I never write these reviews, but Brighton Asylum management should be aware of how this man was talking to their customers. read more

I went for halloween, and I loved it. My friend and I screamed and laughed our way through. We also went for Santa's slay, and that was good too, although it's a little shorter because of the cold, they make the line wait inside where the halloween part is usually. I went last time to the valentine one, and it was still fun, but some things were recycled, so i knew what was coming up. i actually wanted to go to all the ones they offer, but I don't want to see the same stuff. If you are going for the first time, you will have a blast! I also did full contact night, and that was fun too. read more

Straight up, an insanely good time. Pay the money for fast pass, just do it. Right to the front of the line and you're in. It's just scary enough without being over the top. Will do it again ever season! Parking was easy, but I could see how getting there for the early time slots makes for an easier in/out as the lot fills up quickly. Parking was a little sketchy as we were instructed to park in a dark alley near a few abandon warehouses. We didn't wait long to enter the attraction. They had characters trying to scary you in line. Don't want to ruin the attraction but it was an alright experience. Made an evening out of it by grabbing a few drinks afterward. Not sure if I would return. read more

Great place! The location is super ideal as it gives off an eerie creepy feel. We did the zombie attack which was pretty cool. The staff stay in character as they give you instruction on how to maneuver through the zombie infested place with the goal of killing all of the zombies. There's twists and turns and a lot of cool effects. The experience itself only lasts for about 20 minutes. The wait on line however lasts for about a half an hour to an hour so be prepared to wait. Also the only bathrooms they have are Porta potty's so it's best you go to the bathroom before you come to this place lol. I would definitely come again though. It's just a cool experience and it gives you something different to do. They also have escape rooms and tunnels so perhaps I'd come for one of those! :-) read more

We went on a Saturday and had a 9:30pm ticket. The line to wait for parking was ridiculous, we probably waited on that for a half hour. Once we parked we found ourselves in immediate chaos. We found a guy who told us to walk up and the girl will tell us where to go. Well, none of the employees were wearing any sort of identification that they worked there, so that was the first issue, finding a plain dressed employee in a dimly lit parking lot. We finally found someone who told us the 9:30 tickets were being lined up back from where we entered. Ok, great, why couldn't the first guy tell us this. Second issue, we go to the back of the line and there was no real way to enter, we had to duck under the tape forming the lines. There were three sectioned off rows, no specific signs, so we took the chance and just picked one. At this point is is 9:30, and the lines are growing longer. We probably waited up towards a half hour when we finally were moving, awesome! Not, we were moved to another line. Waited another half hour, moved again, to ANOTHER LINE. Waited again for a half hour. Finally we get to enter. Nothing was scary about the house, I felt I did more walking through the house than being scared or startled. Oh and if you thought the lines were done, THINK AGAIN. We repeatedly had to stop in the house because of traffic build ups. They had some parts of the house where they could only let a certain amount of people through at a time for safety reasons, understandable but still annoying. We bought tickets for their "escape room," and once we exited the house you guessed it, another line. We probably waited on that for up towards an hour. The escape room was probably the best part, but only were allowed 4 minutes. Overall I spent more time at Brighton Asylum waiting on lines than actually going through the attraction. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. HORRIBLE! Wasn't scary AT ALL! They took my money and it was over in 3 minutes. We did the asylum and the tunnel. Both sucked. Not worth the money. Actually, I want my money back! They should've paid me to go in there! There was only 2 people that popped out the entire time. The makeup looked rushed. Don't waste your money! I would give 4 stars Bc the show was great. The actors were scary. We were definitely entertained. I'm giving 2 stars Bc the crowds and wait times were horrific! I probably should give 0 stars Bc of that. How the organizers would sell so many tickets without being able to accommodate the amount of people that came is absolutely disgusting! After waiting an hour and NOT MOVING in the "line" which was really an enormous crowd, my friends and I felt forced to each spend an additional $20 for the fast pass. It was either that or leave and lose our money and time. Seems like these people knew what they were doing by ripping people off. I know we weren't going to get in at our 10pm show, but nowhere in the writing did it say you would be waiting for 3-4 hours like many people did! read more

I only give it a 3 because for an 8 pm tour we didn't get into it until 945 or so. Obviously they sold too many tickets to the time slot. So much fun! It's a long winding trail through some scary and jumpy and unexpected moments that have you screaming, watching your back, and just having a great time. Absolutely worth the money and experience! Highly recommended! For last weekend in September on a Saturday at 8pm, we arrived at 6pm, worried about parking and lines. We were too early because actors were arriving around then. LOL! So ww ate nearby. Arrived back around 7:45. Parked just fine. Got online with our Groupon tickets. Once they actually started letting people in, we waited about 30 minutes (so you can tell where we were in line approximately). Very good time! Not sure if it's mayhem as you near actual Halloween. read more

I have been working in the haunt industry for about 10 years, I came out to Brighton Asylum in February to see the valentines day iteration. I drove 10 hours and even longer to get back, thanks to all of the snow. But I plan on going again if I get the chance, it was an amazing haunt and well worth the drive and the money! Park somewhere near the asylum. Don't even bother trying to get near it or park at it. We waited in line for 30 mins to (what I thought was to get closer to the attraction, turns out it was the line to) park there. Small and poorly organized parking situation. The time you pick really doesn't mean anything except that not supposed to enter before it. We waited inline longer than we were inside the 'asylum'. The scenery and costumes were decent but I was not scared or even startled at anytime. The only reason i'm giving it 2 stars and not 1 is because maybe the reason for some of this was because it was a busy Saturday night and the characters had so many people that they didn't have time to reset after each scare. Still we were rushed through and well I've just seen better. I don't think I would ever do it again, maybe on a Friday but that's a stretch. read more

Have been to a few of these places so I knew what to expect! It was a lot of fun and very well done. As you wait in line to get in....you see some characters trying to sneak in and scare you! I would not recommend this haunt to anyone. I wouldn't want them to waste their money. And here's why. For a place that calls themselves Brighton Asylum, for a place which heavily relives on the asylum aspect, their theme is a bit all over the place. A cave inside an asylum? I get it, there's only so much you can do and you have to work with the materials you have. But there are definitely parts of this place where it feels like the design team just got lazy. It also runs the risk of becoming boring. Pop out, scare. Pop out, scare. You like to make the educated guess that a haunt that is so well reviewed and so highly praised would find a way to be a little more creative with their scare techniques. Again, I'm aware there's only so much that can be done. But a little improv never hurt anyone. I really would rather not get into too much detail on my other issues, because I have first hand seen how down right nasty the owner can be with customers. I don't believe that's right. Not every customer is going to think your haunt is the best. They are going to disagree with you but that does not give you the right to be rude to them. They are your income. One nasty comment to the right customer can break you. Try to be a little considerate, because, would you want us to approach you with an attitude? Maybe it was just my visit, but this place has left an awfully sour taste in my mouth. There are parts of it that were beyond words. Parts that I honestly loved and yes, those parts are worth the money and the wait. But if I had to overall rate it, your good did not outweigh the bad. It almost felt like there was a bit of a God complex. We know we're one of the best so now we can slack off a bit and do what we want. No. It's time to get off that high horse and get back to what made this place great in the first place. Otherwise, what's the point? read more

My group went to Brighton Asylum on 10/10. Ok, lets get a couple things out of the way. First, they have a smallish parking area that fills up quickly on busy nights, and all open space in the industrial park they are located in goes just as quickly. You'll probably be better off parking on a side street in the area and walking the rest of the way. Second, wear comfy shoes. You'll be standing in line, and walking thru a haunted maze. Comfy shoes. Third, unless you purchase the fast pass tickets, you will be waiting. a long time. At night. In the fall. Dress appropriately. All of this is mentioned on their website. That said, I spent the extra money ($20 per person) and skipped those lines. Well worth it. I heard some people in the "corrals" grumbling that they had been waiting for a couple hours. No thanks. My total visit from parking to finish was about an hour and a half. There are technically 2 walk thrus here, but they are back to back, so some people may think its just one. Everything is very well done. Make up and sets are very high quality, as well as some well done puppets and animatronics. No store bought masks here. No bare space on the walls! everything is very detailed. My pet peeve with themed attractions are blank theater flats and bare walls. Not here. There is a small section of one of the houses that is more obstacle course-ish than scary - again: wear sensible shoes/clothes. The night I went, they had an add-on for an escape room. it was only $5, so we did it. It was only a few minutes long, but we were able to escape alive, so it was a decent amount of fun for $5. I don't see that option listed on their site any more, so I guess I'm in the minority of thinking it was fun. They also have "contact nights" where the scare actors can grab you and what not. I didn't go on one of these nights, but the option is there if you want it. I definitely recommend checking these guys out. Keep the top of this review in mind. Most of the negative reviews are from people whining about those things which are spelled out in black and white on their website. read more

One of the best haunts - PERIOD! These guys truly invest themselves in their business -- they are hands-on, seek customer feedback (positive or negative) and really go out of their way to both improve and innovate. We've been faithful attendees for all of their events since opening - and it gets better and better with each event. We're not just talking Halloween! We recently hit their "Santa's Slay" and "Bloody Valentine" events and they were FANTASTIC. Can't wait to see what the rest of 2014 holds as they've stepped up their game and planned a slew (slay?) of events throughout the year. Located in a former hospital-turned-warehouse -- in an isolated, creepy industrial landscape in Jersey -- everything feels "right" - which means it feels WRONNNG. To the owners: I know you are rolling the dice on the "hands-on" option - my wife and I both wore the "invitational" glow-necklaces and it was absolutely THE way to experience your haunt! Hoping you get township approval on moving forward with the option - your performers were respectful and hit just the right approach to being both terrifying and "in-check" with the hands-on immersion. I got pulled away by multiple ghouls and was invited to scare my wife twice -- made my night! :) One other side note -- it was freezing out, and management was coming by offering hot cocoa to customers on line.
