Came on Valentine's Day and had so much fun! We were sat in our own booth with cubby's to put our personal belongings. It's BYOB so we brought beers. This was a surprise b-day party for my kids (you blink and now they're on the cusp of driving... I'm afraid the next time I blink they'll be committing me to a nursery home!) and everyone had a blast. Kinda open, kinda chilly, a balance between odd/silly (Birds Aren't Real - awesome!) with more 'established' stuff (sports-related memorabilia). Being completely honest: these types of places are always tough to 'grade'... Was it wildly overpriced for what "it" is? Without a doubt. Did my family have a great time? Without a doubt. Would we do it again? Without a... (well, if someone else was going to pay for it the next time around!) Street (metered parking). Free firewood! Honestly, I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did. Bury the Hatchet was all over Groupon so I caved in and bought a package. I had a group of 8 ppl so we were paired with a group of 4 ppl once we got there (you need 12 ppl if you want your own lane). Our instructor was nice and very helpful through the entire night - throwing hatchets isn't as easy as it looks. We ended up having a tournament between our group which made it a little more exciting. The best part is... its BYOB!!! No hard liquor of course and we had food delivered directly to us. The only issue, because of where we were stationed was the lack of table space. There was only one picnic bench for two lanes with a total of 22 ppl but we made it work. In the entry way there's a small waiting area with oversized jenga and connect four. They do have a parking lot but it's pretty small and street parking tough. read more

It was my first time. So much fun!!! My group date, unfortunately, turned into a solo date at the last minute. The staff was very accommodating to the sudden change and I had a blast from start to finish. Axe throwing turned out not to be as difficult as I'd imagined. Once I got the hang of it, the fun ensued. There was a great music playing, the place was clean, and it was just myself and the employees there for a while (early afternoon on a weekend). I would love to do this again with a small group of people, seems like it'd be even more fun. They're BYOB, too. For our Holiday work party this year we decided to try Bury the Hatchet. I've wanted to try one of these places for years, but could never generate any interest with the family. We had a Groupon and got a two hour time slot starting at lunchtime. The guy running things showed everyone how to throw both two-handed and one-handed, suggested a couple games then kind of left us to do our thing. There were eight of us who played and it came fairly easy to me, but if the rest of our group had to protect us from a zombie apocalypse humanity would be doomed. They don't serve food or drinks here (you can buy chips or soda) but it IS BYOB and you can have food delivered-we got three pizzas from a place that was very close. There is also a Bottle King nearby, but I think the rest of my group would have worried about killing each other if we were drinking so we didn't partake. Overall, I think everyone had a great time. Some frustrations from some who couldn't get the hatchets to stick, but eventually they got the hang of it. I'd definitely love to do this again with friends and a few beers! read more

I had never tried axe throwing before and I saw a Groupon deal for it so I thought, why not? I had a blast! Booking is super easy. You just need to take the code from your voucher and book through their website. There's also a $4 booking fee you'll have to pay. Our booking was for a couple's throwing session for Saturday at 2:30 pm. We were running 15 minutes late but they were very accommodating and told us it was fine, as long as we get there before three. The first half hour is spent teaching us how to throw, and practicing the throw. Our group had two other pairs so it was a small group, which was nice. Our axe master was Rachelle and I think she made the session a lot of fun. She incorporated games with the axe throwing, along with a little friendly competition (i.e. you and your opponent, who is likely the partner you booked with, each have a turn to throw the axe. Whoever has the lower score has to take the difference between your scores and remove that many blocks from the giant Jenga tower). I liked that it wasn't just axe throwing and that she made the experience interactive. She was also extremely helpful in giving instructions on our form, how we should stand, throw, etc. Would be fun to try again with a bigger group of friends. Tips - metered street parking only, wear close-toed shoes, BYOB, and your arms and shoulders will probably be sore the next day. read more

Our instructor talked us through the different throw styles and gave us tips to hit the target. Once you feel ready, they have several different games you can play. Bury the Hatche was a super fun experience and great for birthdays, corporate events, date nights, girls/boys night, etc. My bf and I bought our tickets on Groupon which was $69 for two people instead of the $80+ at the door. After purchasing the tickets, you have to go on their website and reserve a time slot. If you're going on the weekend make sure you reserve ASAP since it gets pretty busy. There isn't a parking lot for this location but you can find street parking in front or on the sides. Upon walking in you will be prompted to fill out a waver. They then check you in by checking your ID and assigning you your lane number. Once we got to our lane, we met 3 other groups in which we were sharing the lane with. We had a total of 10 people. Our instructor was very informative when teaching us how to throw the axe. He taught us the rules, the different games we could play and the history of axe throwing. Unfortunately, I felt like we were doing more talking then throwing. The manager approved us to add 30 more minutes to our game time because two people for our lane were late and the games took super long to start due to all of the talking. This place is BYOB and BYOF (food). There are mini refrigerators to store anything you bring since people have celebrations here. You can order food to the location, bring cake, balloons, decorations, etc. They also have a water dispenser which I was taking full advantage of (I am a thirsty person LOL) We played games such as charades, dodge ball (no you are not dodging axe's) and bullseye. When my son's fiancée invited us to go axe throwing my first thought was "I think I would rather stay home and bite my nails but it was his birthday and I didn't want to seem anti-social so I went. Parking was horrible. They do not have a lot and street parking on a late Saturday afternoon was much worse then I would have figured. "Biting my nails didn't seem like a bad form of entertainment" I thought as I drove around for 15 minutes looking for parking. Finally I found a spot on the street and we went in. My first thought was - the place honestly looked like I thought it would. The music was trendy (mostly rap), their tv screens played the weekend football games and there was wood everywhere! From an entrepreneurial perspective I must say I'm impressed. Someone is actually charging people money as they throw axes at pieces of wood with targets drawn on them. Mike (the manager) was pretty dang awesome. He took a good amount of time and patiently showed us how to hold and throw the hatchet to get the best shot. Looking around I noticed mostly young folks - both men and women -I would say millennials. After throwing for an hour or so and participating in a competition with my grown children and my 14 yr old (not quite grown), I would say I enjoyed being around my family. It's times like this that I can appreciate good times and lots of laughs :-D How do I feel about axe-throwing now after participating for a couple of hours? I feel like axe throwing is definitely for people who enjoy that type of stuff. Not me. Next time they go and they invite me... I'll stay home and bite my nails :-/ Theres way more things I can spend my money on at $40 per pop. Pros: - Staff was awesome! Mike was the best. - The place was clean. - Very well managed: the guests were careful and followed safety rules. This shows the staff properly conveyed safety rules and constantly ensured they were met. Cons: - Definitely for a select group of people (perhaps the athletic type who enjoy boring things like...umm... throwing axes) - $40 per person is quite pricey for throwing an axe against a piece of wood especially if you're anything like me and miss 95% of the time. - Parking was awful. I'd been here previously for an event and had a great time so decided to come again on a Friday afternoon. The place was empty but that was expected considering the time. We brought in food and drinks and waited for another duo that was going to come in too so the instructor could have us in one lane. I forget the instructor's name but she was great and helpful, considering just how awful we were at throwing axes. She offered games we could play together or separately. It was all really fun. Our reservation was for 2 hours and the time really flew by. The place has a fun open feel to it. Clean, spacious, nicely decorated. You sign a waiver when you walk in, cause you know, you're throwing axes. There's music playing and freezers to hold your booze in. I don't give the place 5 stars though because of the gnats.
