I have never been to another escape room so can't compare, but we had a great experience. Purchased a Groupon which took a little off the price not too much but it's always nice to get a discount. Reserved our time slot on their website the day before and the whole process was easy and straightforward. For reference I booked Thursday night for the next evening, Friday a 7 PM session. I was nervous the place would be sold out but they had about 4 rooms available Opted for the "Witches Revenge" which is their hardest room. We found parking on the side road but I can definitely see how it can be challenging in this area. Upon entering, we were greeted right away by a very friendly gentleman who explained what to expect and encouraged everyone to use the restroom since we had a couple of minutes to spare, and the session would be 1 hour. They also have a blank wall with props where you can take pictures before or after showing off your escape room experience. It was a little scary, but super fun. Definitely complicated but thankfully the staff is watching from afar and are there when you need help and will communicate with you while you're in the room. I am a huge fan of escape rooms and have done several dozen of these. This one was okay. No Spoilers below. We did the "Lost in Space" escape room with two people and escaped with about 15 minutes left. The room was nonlinear, which I liked. This means that there are multiple things to do at once so it is less likely for you to have everyone stuck at a bottleneck with one unsolved puzzle. The decor of the room was very nice and they did a good job setting it up to look like the inside of a spaceship. There was no real introduction to the room - the introduction was that we were taken into the room and told not to touch the orange dots. We also actually legitimately escaped the room leaving a whole set of puzzles unsolved. And there was also one point where we solved a puzzle and it gave us a sheet explaining/hinting how to solve a different puzzle that we had already completed. There were also keys that fit into and unlocked multiple keyholes. All of these things add to confusion and should not be possible. We told the puzzlemaster we only wanted three total hints. We only actually asked for one but we were given five, probably because the puzzlemaster noticed how we were confused by these things. I came in with a group of 4 people for the Holy Grail escape room. My friend had made a reservation in advance, so I'm not sure how they are about walk ins. Our room was ready when we arrived, but since we were a little early, we used the bathrooms and then got started. The room was pretty good, I think it was the most complex one that they have and it was definitely a bit challenging. We made a lot of silly mistakes - i.e., getting too far ahead of ourselves and skipping clues. Our game master was good about gently guiding us when she saw us really stumped, most of the time by own fault, because again, we were either thinking too much or too far ahead. I think we would've finished much earlier if the final room was a bit brighter / better lit. We missed a few clues because we just couldn't see them in the dim lighting. So that's my one real critique about the entire experience. Overall, I had a good time. The tech in the rooms worked very well and there were so many steps and clues until we got to the end. Thankfully, we managed to finish it with 4:55 minutes to spare. I think we used 2 out of the 3 allocated hints from the game master. read more

I did the space room and booked through the online portal for a private experience with my party of four. The quality of puzzles exceeded my expectations, given the fact that it wasn't just a series of solving a bunch of different locks and there was a variety of puzzles to solve. The story line leading up to the room wasn't anything too exciting, but we had a lot of fun in the room. The space room was the second hardest room available. Matt was our Game Master! Long May he live! We did the holy grail escape room! It is themed so wonderfully! There will be no spoilers in this review! We arrived a few minutes before our time. Matt greeted us very "coldly" to our epic adventure! I mean coldly in a great way! It was 105 outside and soooooo humid!!!!! It was nice and freezing inside hahaha! I wanted to do the holy grail room, because come on, its the holy grail and only the most sought after object in history. The whole experience is themed so well! The room isn't just painted, the whole room is designed floor to ceiling and really pulls you into the experience. Each room to find the grail is very immersive!!!! I really felt like Indiana Jones excavating something lol! There is no actual digging involved! The second room, could use another clue or 2 to make the room a little bit more useful.... But the 3rd room, omg! So amazing!!! Super detailed! I felt like that I was actually there!!!!! The only other thing that I could say was, they could have made the first task a slight bit more difficult, rather than just "finding" it laying there... Make it a clue, Joe went back to town, he left the ____ hidden in the _____ or something along those lines. Other than that, due to the heat, some of the devices weren't working 100% properly. Our Game Master had to come in a few times to manually open up things. A couple suggestions, some things need a tiny bit more explanation, and if you are listening to something, they should make it louder! All in all, an excellent experience! My husband and I visited this location twice in two days, it was that fun! The first day we did the space room and our game master was Captain Murph aka WUTANG. He was completely awesome and explained the rules and room very well. The room itself was extremely immersive.. lots of technological aspects, which is hard to find. This is their hardest room - and the best of the two we did! The second day we did the Alice in Wonderland room and our game master was Kayla. The room was a lot of fun and extremely unique. Our favorite part of this company is the uniqueness of everything - from the game masters who really get into character, to the rooms themselves. I think this was a great activity to practice team building skills for those coming from a corporate environment. The room that we got was pretty confusing and I have been to a better escape room in Fairfield. However, the concept of the room (spaceship-themed) was one that was new to me and we had fun which is why I believe it deserves the 5 stars. Unfortunately we went here on a day they were having IT issues so the game master was not able to watch us progress thru the room on their AV system nor were their TVs working so we had literally no idea how much time was elapsing (game master used a cell phone timer?). And there was no obvious indication that we had even completed in under 60 minutes other than them walking in to say "you escaped". the whole experience just felt lacking and in hindsight we should have rescheduled. the theme and decor of the room was decent enough...most of the puzzles unlock using magnets, which we prefer over combo lock style escape rooms. read more

My friends and I decided to visit the newly opened Amazing Escape Room Bloomfield to have a good time and see how the experience compares to rival businesses. I've always been a fan of escape rooms because it's an activity where you can go spend time with your friends, utilize critical thinking skills, and work together to meet an end goal. Beware if you try to take someone to an escape room for a first date, it can either bring you closer or make you despise each other depending on how well you can communicate. THE EXPERIENCE First things first, the parking situation is horrible. If you're familiar with the Bloomfield area, you're pretty much aware that you'll most likely have to park a decent distance away from your destination and pray that street parking opens up for you. My advice is to leave early and give yourself enough time to find parking without risking being late to the appointment. If you're late, you are subject to not being able to do the escape room since it's time sensitive and you can't join a room in progress (if your group is paired with others). Once inside, you'll come across a room that is decorated with board game boards on the walls, a couple seats to sit on while waiting, and a desk where you are greeted by employees. I didn't catch the names of the staff but they were very friendly and attentive. After filling out a waiver and receiving an explanation of the rules, my friends and I were escorted to the escape room we chose. For this certain occasion, we picked the "Search for the Grail" escape room. I'm not going to get into any specifics or say any spoilers but it was a straightforward theme and plot. The room itself was well-decorated and contained a lot of good ideas in terms of puzzles. The puzzles weren't the hardest I had ever come across but they made sense in terms of flow. For my friends and I, we managed to finish the room with about 10 minutes left. We had to use 3 clues, 2 being due to mechanical mechanism issues. To explain further, we had things in the right place but some of them required some extra manipulation to work. Let's just say certain things may need some fiddling or very specific spots/timing. Also, the music that was playing in the background was pretty loud so it made some audio cues harder to listen to. While my party didn't have a huge issue with it, I could see how the volume could potentially be a problem with a larger party or individuals who have hard of hearing. FINAL THOUGHTS Despite some of those mechanical and sound issues, my party and I ended up having a great time. The staff was great, the escape room was ultimately satisfying, and I look forward to trying out some of the other rooms in the near future. TIPS/ADVICE -As stated earlier in the review, I recommend leaving early to your appointment to find parking because it can be rough. -The site states that if your party doesn't fill in at least 90% of the room capacity during peak hours, you are subject to the room getting filled with other guests. -The place just opened so there are plenty of booked rooms. I'd recommend planning at least a few days ahead to get the room you want. read more

horrible service. employees were young disrespectful teenagers. they harassed me and my children, i really don't recommend picking this place for a kids party or in general. my daughter feels violated and attacked. she has anxiety and the pressure of the teenage workers made it much worse. the experience was horrible and i hope you pick else where when going to an escape room. Gave us a great run down before we started the room and even helped us see what we had left when we didn't finish the room in time! She was amazing! Loved how The Grail kept our group of 9 engaged the entire time! Madison was our game master and she ensured our hints were helpful, without giving us answers. The room had a ~10% success rate, and we could definitely tell with the difficulty of some of the puzzles. However, it was straightforward and many of the members in our team could draw on our strengths to move us forward (and also be wise with when we should be using clues). We had a little over 8 mins left when we succeeded and found the Holy Grail! read more

This was the hardest escape room I have done but we completed it with 12:31 left and this was my third escape room. This room did have a 25% escape chance. Customer service: Everyone was very nice, they even let me transfer my Montclair reservation to Bloomfield. I would definitely be going back.
