My friends and I have been doing escape rooms pretty much every weekend in the city and in NJ (yes, we're a bit obsessed). Last weekend, we decided to do another last minute, and this was the only place available that had an opening for the 6 of us on a Saturday night. They do have a Groupon so make sure to get that if you're coming here. We did the horror themed room. As another reviewer stated, the place is tiny. Also, you only get 55 minutes to escape the room, not an hour, which isn't a huge deal. We were told that if we escaped within the time allotted and only used 3 clues or less, we would be put on the leader board and get a chance to come back to do the other room for free. The competitive sides of us came out and we were all set on completing it with less than 3 hints. As we got started, it was fine. However, we got stuck on a box and our game master gave us our first clue. We were sure that the code we got was correct, but it would not open the box. We tried for at least 10-15 minutes on this box and nothing worked. We asked again for the clue to the box, and he gave us the same exact hint. At this point we got frustrated and someone in my group decided to try that code on another box....and it worked. We were so confused how this worked. There were a few more mishaps along the way, but that was the biggest one that completely threw off our game a bit. In the end, we did get out in less than 3 clues, but we weren't happy about it. We were told the locks were on the wrong boxes.. Although we did get out with 6 minutes to spare, it would have been A LOT faster had that not happen. Overall, the quality of the room was just okay compared to others we have done. There definitely is potential for this place, but it's probably not one of the rooms I'd come back to again. read more

My first time at the escape room and I enjoyed it ! Things were confusing at first but the boss helped us understand and we did our thing lol ... it was a great thing to do to be busy for a birthday get together and I will definitely recommend this location to others. read more

If I could pick one word to describe this place it's POTENTIAL! It does not compare to escape rooms in the area by any means and is fairly reminiscent of early escape rooms before they had screens with a timer and hints. The logic of some of the puzzles where not on point and we literally guessed at one of them based on context clues. Other puzzles were really not complex and too simple to figure out. The location is very small, which I wouldn't mind if the rooms were interesting and complex. What's the most disappointing is the premise of the room we did Asylum was great. The execution, not so much. There were elements that I haven't seen in other escape rooms, which was refreshing, but overall the place felt very low budget. Another suggestion to the staff, who by all means we're very nice and welcoming, please revamp your hint system. There's a huge difference between giving a hint and just flat out telling people what to do to get to the next step. Took the fun out of it. If it wasn't for getting stuck on a bad puzzle we probably would've gotten out in less than 30 minutes. My friends and I had never done an escape room before so were a little skeptical when we entered the place. The owner was super nice and funny. He gave us a walkie talkie in case we needed help (which we did). The puzzles were hard so we needed a lot of clues. Wished we would've completed in the time given (55 mins). We went here with 7 people. Only 2 adults and 5 kids from the ages of 4 to 12. The younger kids had fun even if they were not solving the puzzle. The older kids really got into it. We did the lighthouse and it was a lot of fun. The gentleman helping us was courteous and friendly. I would go back but not sure about going to scary room. read more

If you've never been to an escape room before, you might say it was good. But having been to numerous others, this just does not compare AT ALL. We made it out with time to spare, but the whole experience was a total letdown. The room felt very homemade and low tech. Hints were ridiculously straightforward-the only challenge was basically finding where they were hidden. There was no camera/video screen to monitor your progress-just a walkie talkie that we couldn't even reach him on. Instead, he walked in and out of the room tell us the time, and give us a clue-which we only needed because the prop didn't work as intended. The clue basically consisted of him telling us what to do next. Also, we got a groupon deal, and realized later that it was cheaper on his website-so we felt kind of ripped off. My cousin and I came here while she was visiting from Pittsburgh. We did the Lighthouse. Only giving three stars for a few reasons: -The entrance to the place is pretty difficult to find. We almost missed our reservation because we were looking for the entrance and couldn't find it! (Word of advice: if you're looking for it, turn onto Pitt St and you should see a sign for it by a small parking lot. The door just looks like a back door for employees only.) -It is tinyyyyyyyyyy. The size doesn't bother me that much but I feel they could really have a much better experience for guests if they had a larger location. There are only two difficult rooms to choose from. -The staff was pretty friendly at first but at one point we had the correct answer to one of the riddles and had the clues where they needed to be but the door didn't open. We wasted about 10 mins trying to get it to work, to the point where we had to ask him to help and of course when he did it, it opened. This happened again with a different clue, but we had to move the clues all around the same area until it finally opened. That took a good amount of time too :/ We asked for a little more time because of these malfunctions and his tone wasn't very nice about how we weren't 'precise enough' because when he did it, it immediately opened :/ we also heard him on speaker phone the whole time while we were in the room. While there is definitely room for improvement, the room was challenging and entertaining. My friends and I had such a great time doing the Asylum room. The puzzles were very clever and the gadgets and rigs in the room are so cool. The employees are personable, helpful, and entertaining. Family friendly, but also would recommend for birthday parties and team-building events. Will be returning with my family to do the Lighthouse room and hopefully make it on the leader board! read more

I purchased my tickets on Groupon and the purchase was a success I received my voucher code went to the website to make a reservation. I followed all the steps provided to me I even received a email from jimmys escape room confirming my reservation and when I showed up no one was at the location it was closed . I called the number left voicemails and no one answered . I finally decided to send a email and the respond was contact Groupon we have no reservation for you. So my response was how it that when I received a confirmation email I sent screenshots to him as well. Instead of working it out with me Haider Khokhar just ignored all my emails very unprofessional. I should not have to call Groupon they gave me a valid coupon code they did nothing wrong . I don't even give this place 1 star I only did it cause that's the only way I can post this review ....they suck . read more
