You stay with your group and someone will walk you thru the process and how to play the games. They demonstrate the first room and it's a combination of figuring out what to do and then doing it. After that it's up to you to try to solve each room. There's a globe on top of the door way to each room to let you know if it's occupied or available and a screen to explain the room and hints as well. There are a bunch of rooms and depending on how busy it is, you can attempt it multiple times in a row. There's an overall time limit so you don't have all day. I think it's a cool concept and it was a fun time.

What a blast of a time!…read more If you like escape rooms, this may be your cup of tea. There are about 20 rooms, each rated at a different difficulty, each with it's own mini puzzle. You first have to figure out how the puzzle works, then try to solve the puzzle. Each room also has a timer once you begin, that can be reset by re-entering the room if you fail. A fun way to tickle your brain to work together with your group. We went with just the two of us and many of the rooms were solvable. There is even a wheel of fortune room for some relaxed play. This hidden gem is tucked away around the corner from the snowboarding area of American Dream mall. Ivy and Brenda were wonderful help at explaining the setup of the rooms and giving tips on how everything works. Definitely a repeatable visit!

My group did two rooms over 2 days which were Escape From Rikers Island and The Haunted Hotel. The puzzles were definitely head scratchers but we got through them both thanks to teamwork and our awesome game masters. Speaking of them, both Charlie and Ryan did a wonderful job making our experience so much fun! I highly recommend this place while visiting NYC if you like escape rooms!

So much fun! I went for an office event and my team went to the Bloody Circus room. As a horror…read morefan, I appreciated the immersive details for this room. Lots of fake blood, creepy clowns, and even some jump scares built in. Definitely use your brain and think outside the box!! The puzzles were really unique. The only feedback I have is some of the puzzles were a bit wonky probably because a lot of people have been touching them so there are things that should be tuned up or fixed. Trying not to spoil so I'll try to be as vague as I can while giving feedback. So there's one puzzle where you have to smell things but everything smelled like the same rotten/rancid smell so my team members and I content differentiate the scents and had to randomly guess instead of actually solving the puzzle. There's another puzzle where you have to turn something but it was wonky from wear and tear and the tracks on them were worn down. Paul was our game master, and did a great job. He also said this room was the hardest one and the scariest one out of them all.

We just walked in, didn't have a reservation prior but it may be a smart idea to reserve beforehand. You can do so on their website. It was a lot of fun and the puzzles were definitely challenging and kept us on our feet. We did the "Escape from Alcatraz" room. The clues were pretty hard and we almost didn't finish in time! Thankfully we did and got our bragging rights! Definitely would recommend for friends and family. Keep the group small (4-6 people) because with too many people (we had like 10 people in one room), communication and team work was confusing and some people felt like they didn't have a part in the fun.

I really enjoyed how this room had a really cute backstory also. It was really scary initially with the clown coming in every 15 minutes or so. We made a reservation for my brother's birthday as a surprise and this was the only location that had availability as this chain of Escape the Room also has locations in Hackensack and in Madison. Worked out well because we played Minute to Win It before entering the Escape the Room and it was so much fun! We played a few games and our hostess kept tabs on the score. Don't want to give too much away but they kept us entertained and in competitive spirits! Once we got to the Escape the Room, I was at awe at how real it felt. The Gamemaster was pretty good at giving us clues not that it helped us much because we did not escape! He was nice enough to tell us the answers after we failed and honestly I don't think I would still be able to escape! But it was so much fun nonetheless. After the escape the room, we all play virtually reality games and since we did a private booking, the booking came with pizza which was so ridiculously good!! Had to take off a star only because there was a discrepancy closing out the bill which had nothing to do with the actual team at the location. Other than that, I would definitely return and there is a liquor store down the street as well :)
