IT WAS A BLAST!!! I had a group of 6 of us who had never done an escape room before. We didn't know what to expect. First arriving Amanda at the desk was super friendly. We waited patiently in the lobby for our turn as we tried to figure out some riddles they had hanging in the lobby. Our turn came and Amanda explained everything we needed to know with a short video to figure out who killed Abigail. As we approached her room it was like we were in a different world, like actually her playroom. The storyline, the clues and hidden secrets were thought out so perfectly. With all of our thinking and with some of Amanda's help WE DID ESCAPE!! We can't wait to go back and do the second part of the storyline. We all loved it !!

Loved this! First time we ever did an escape room and we had such a blast. Amanda was fantastic and I really appreciated how quickly the hints came when we were stuck. We definitely needed more than a few in the last couple of minutes. We managed to escape with only a minute or two left on the clock! My advice to first timers is to be meticulous and not too disregard anything too quickly. I'll definitely be back!!

I've been to several 'escape the rooms' in the past and I've always had a great time, but this room in particular blows the competition away. The staff is super friendly and professional. They've done an excellent job with developing the ultimate escape room scenario. The attention to detail and the presentation of the various puzzles is simply remarkable. They really do a awesome job with immersing people into the storyline. So far they only have one room (Abigail's Playroom) but I'm hoping they open up a new location sometime soon! Plus if you're a Rutgers student they offer discounts so make sure to check this place out before they get completely booked!

I'm an escape room junkie. The staff was super nice. We called ahead to see if we could get the room to ourselves and they let us know it would be the cost of the room plus 7.50 for the spaces they wouldn't sell to keep it private. We lucked out and were able to go before our 845pm scheduled slot. They graciously called me to let me know and we got in at 730. The place was a little hard to find, best to turn into the parking lot with the massage sign. Parking lot is shared with tenants of apartment so you can park in any space thats not designated to tenants. Up the stairs theres a nice waiting area. We chose abigail's room which is the easier one, the more difficult was already booked. I liked that you have the options for automatic hints or waiting to request them. 48% success rate is pretty decent. There were some times I was stumped and luckily the hints came to nudge us along. Very creative puzzles. We loved It! Not the best I've ever done which is why 4 stars but overall a very enjoyable experience. They honored the Groupon pricing with the 20%discount Groupon was offereing which was super nice of them. Will def go back to try the other room when in that area again

I was NOT impressed by the size of the room. But after figuring out how to open a door that did not lead outside like I thought it would, I took back every bad thing I said about the size of the room. The second time we did Museum Heist. This was harder than the Cabin in my opinion, but it's all subjective. I also recommend 4-5 players, not the 10 you can max out with. Can't really say much without spoiling anything, but it's not a bad way to spend an hour.

Eric, our game master, gave them a good introduction and started the room. The flow was different than many rooms I've been in. Most rooms have a few quick wins so you get your momentum going. This room was challenging from the start. No matter, we used a couple of hints and moved through the room pretty well. There were definitely times that we felt completely stuck and then all of a sudden two or three things clicked at once. I'd go back to try their other rooms. I think we may have a new Black Friday family tradition for next year. Oh, the first puzzle? Recognizing that the front door isn't locked, just really hard to open! :)

The two of us went to the Amazing Escape Room in Green Brook for the first time. It's located in a shopping plaza on Route 22 with plenty of parking available. They have 5 different rooms to choose from with varying levels of difficulty. All rooms are private so it's just you and your party - no strangers. You book a room and time slot on their website. It's $33 per person with a maximum of 8 people. There's a $3 booking fee per person as well as state tax. One major con is that they have a 4 person minimum on weekends (Friday 3pm-Sunday 3pm). You can still play with less than 4 people, BUT you're going to have to pay a flat rate of $132 no matter what. I'm not a fan of that at all. Our reservation was for 5pm on Saturday. We were greeted by Erick, who was also our gamemaster. He checked us in and explained all of the rules. We did the Illusionist (magician theme), which had a 40% escape rate. You have one hour to escape. The room wasn't anything fancy or high-tech like some other ones, but still very creative and challenging. It was dim, so we had to use our phone flashlights at times. Erick was very helpful, patient, and had great communication with us during the entire game! You get 3 clues that are provided on a screen. He gave us bonus hints when we were struggling, which we appreciated. He even extended our time by a few minutes. For the most part, I thought that the puzzles and clues flowed well together. We wasted too much time on one puzzle that could have been executed better, but oh well! Sadly, we did not escape... we were 3 challenges away :( It was still a lot of fun! They do offer 50% off if you want to try the same room another time as a redemption. After you play, you can take photos in front of their backdrop with funny props. If you're looking for a fun team-building activity, I definitely recommend escape rooms! Just choose the right people and don't lose your cool ;)

I went with a group of 8 (2 of whom had never been to an escape room before). My husband and I have done about 10 escape rooms, we've made it through some, not made it through some, but we always have fun. Very little fun was had here at Escapology Holmdel. The mansion themed room left me disappointed, frustrated, and with a group of friends who will probably never do another escape room night out again. The first challenge was that my group is all in their early 50s and we are all starting to need readers. We all brought them but the type on everything was so tiny and wee, and the lighting so dark, that we spent a large part of our time just actually trying to read the clues vs. solve them. I like a clue that is difficult because you have to think around corners and you get that jolt of excitement that you figured something out, not difficult because you're doing a bunch of math and you transposed a number or you have to read through tons of lines of print. We had unlimited clues but our game attendant's clues were so rarely helpful (because we were making math and reading mistakes trying to read off endless lists of numbers) that we just gave up. We took up a huge amount of time thinking we hadn't solved a puzzle, when on two separate occasions we HAD but the instructions on the math were unnecessarily confusing and the person trying to read the words we needed got ONE wrong out of like 12. 40 minutes in I was done and just wanted it to be over. I get the impression that this room is for the escape room die hards that do lots of escape rooms and Hunt a Killer, and are very familiar with all of the tricks and cryptic codes so the creators had to add in a lot of extra work to slow them down and stump them. If you are not one of those people, mind the difficulty levels. If you are not under 40, bring a magnifying glass and a headlamp.
