We did the Dragon Castle and in the first ten minutes there was a puzzle solution that is now #1 on my list of neat physical solutions to a puzzle! The rest of the room was excellent quality. The entire room sucked you into the theme very well. The quality of props, puzzle pieces, and decorations were fantastic. The pacing was just right, the puzzles were the perfect difficulty. You were never overwhelmed with things you didn't need to use yet. I think the best part was that this was not just a room of keys and locks, there were physical puzzles which were outstanding! We were a smaller group, my two pre-teens who had a few escape rooms of lesser quality under their belt, and their newbie Grandma. Everyone had a blast! Can't wait to try the other rooms.

The two of us went to the Amazing Escape Room in Green Brook for the first time. It's located in a shopping plaza on Route 22 with plenty of parking available. They have 5 different rooms to choose from with varying levels of difficulty. All rooms are private so it's just you and your party - no strangers. You book a room and time slot on their website. It's $33 per person with a maximum of 8 people. There's a $3 booking fee per person as well as state tax. One major con is that they have a 4 person minimum on weekends (Friday 3pm-Sunday 3pm). You can still play with less than 4 people, BUT you're going to have to pay a flat rate of $132 no matter what. I'm not a fan of that at all. Our reservation was for 5pm on Saturday. We were greeted by Erick, who was also our gamemaster. He checked us in and explained all of the rules. We did the Illusionist (magician theme), which had a 40% escape rate. You have one hour to escape. The room wasn't anything fancy or high-tech like some other ones, but still very creative and challenging. It was dim, so we had to use our phone flashlights at times. Erick was very helpful, patient, and had great communication with us during the entire game! You get 3 clues that are provided on a screen. He gave us bonus hints when we were struggling, which we appreciated. He even extended our time by a few minutes. For the most part, I thought that the puzzles and clues flowed well together. We wasted too much time on one puzzle that could have been executed better, but oh well! Sadly, we did not escape... we were 3 challenges away :( It was still a lot of fun! They do offer 50% off if you want to try the same room another time as a redemption. After you play, you can take photos in front of their backdrop with funny props. If you're looking for a fun team-building activity, I definitely recommend escape rooms! Just choose the right people and don't lose your cool ;)

It was a first time for my brother-in-law and his wife, and it started getting them kind of hooked. We've all done a few here and there since then, and we still think that this place does a particularly good job. There's a good level of challenge, and they provide some pretty good backstory to go along with the room too. More recently, we went to try out their second room, The Estate, which has a story connected to the first room. It was another fun and challenging room, and they introduced some really interesting aspects to the puzzles. Looking forward to when they open their third room!

The girl that greeted us couldn't be bothered and the guy checking us out came into the room 8 mins after time expired and chastised us for still being there. Well, you didn't come get us so we just stayed. Then he accused us of taking a physical clue item when he just didn't look hard enough inside the cabinet. Now onto the escape room itself. It's a great theme and the decor was good. But it's clear the room has been around for awhile because everything is old and not everything worked seamlessly. Many of the puzzles involved pushing buttons that have been slammed on over and over again through repeated use. They failed to register so we had issues releasing the clue even though we were playing the game properly. Two of the games were like this which ate up so much time. They give unlimited clues which is great but their system sucked. They had no idea where we were in the escaping process and kept giving us clues we already solved. They can't hear us (or maybe they pretended not to) so it was one way communication. We would wave at the camera and it would take several minutes for someone to type in a clue. Again, so much wasted time. Overall, I would not recommend this place. There has to be better escape rooms in New Jersey right?

The gamer was running late and so we waited outside for 30 minutes. Once he arrived, he mentioned a few instructions rather quickly we went off to the chemistry lab escape room which was very difficult for some of us. Our walkie talkie was broken and so when we needed to speak to the gamer he had to enter the room. Also, we found a clue to one of the codes and it did not open so the gamer had to enter the room again to open it for us. Our experience was fun as a team but just okay for the experience with the company. Will not be returning
