The rooms are clean and well maintained. The puzzles for the most part make sense and were solvable. The room used some technology and everything appeared to work correctly. Room was linear for a lot of it but did have sections where several activities could be completed at once. I'd say it was medium difficulty we asked for one hint and finished with 3 minutes to spare. Reserved our time slot on their website the day before and the whole process was easy and straightforward. For reference I booked Thursday night for the next evening, Friday a 7 PM session. I was nervous the place would be sold out but they had about 4 rooms available Opted for the "Witches Revenge" which is their hardest room. We found parking on the side road but I can definitely see how it can be challenging in this area. Upon entering, we were greeted right away by a very friendly gentleman who explained what to expect and encouraged everyone to use the restroom since we had a couple of minutes to spare, and the session would be 1 hour. They also have a blank wall with props where you can take pictures before or after showing off your escape room experience. It was a little scary, but super fun. Definitely complicated but thankfully the staff is watching from afar and are there when you need help and will communicate with you while you're in the room. Can't wait to return and try a different room.

Our walkie talkie was broken and so when we needed to speak to the gamer he had to enter the room. Also, we found a clue to one of the codes and it did not open so the gamer had to enter the room again to open it for us. The two of us went to the Amazing Escape Room in Green Brook for the first time. It's located in a shopping plaza on Route 22 with plenty of parking available. They have 5 different rooms to choose from with varying levels of difficulty. All rooms are private so it's just you and your party - no strangers. You book a room and time slot on their website. It's $33 per person with a maximum of 8 people. There's a $3 booking fee per person as well as state tax. One major con is that they have a 4 person minimum on weekends (Friday 3pm-Sunday 3pm). You can still play with less than 4 people, BUT you're going to have to pay a flat rate of $132 no matter what. I'm not a fan of that at all. Our reservation was for 5pm on Saturday. We were greeted by Erick, who was also our gamemaster. He checked us in and explained all of the rules. We did the Illusionist (magician theme), which had a 40% escape rate. You have one hour to escape. The room wasn't anything fancy or high-tech like some other ones, but still very creative and challenging. It was dim, so we had to use our phone flashlights at times. Erick was very helpful, patient, and had great communication with us during the entire game! You get 3 clues that are provided on a screen. He gave us bonus hints when we were struggling, which we appreciated. He even extended our time by a few minutes. For the most part, I thought that the puzzles and clues flowed well together. We wasted too much time on one puzzle that could have been executed better, but oh well! Sadly, we did not escape... we were 3 challenges away :( It was still a lot of fun! They do offer 50% off if you want to try the same room another time as a redemption. After you play, you can take photos in front of their backdrop with funny props. If you're looking for a fun team-building activity, I definitely recommend escape rooms! Just choose the right people and don't lose your cool ;)

It was a first time for my brother-in-law and his wife, and it started getting them kind of hooked. We've all done a few here and there since then, and we still think that this place does a particularly good job. There's a good level of challenge, and they provide some pretty good backstory to go along with the room too. More recently, we went to try out their second room, The Estate, which has a story connected to the first room. It was another fun and challenging room, and they introduced some really interesting aspects to the puzzles. Looking forward to when they open their third room!

The two of us finished with a few minutes left. It does feel a little low budget. The rooms are on the second floor in what feels like an office building. The intro to the room was given by the puzzlemaster himself with the best of his acting ability. But the mechanics were pretty cool and unique. It also was not strictly linear, meaning you did not necessarily need to solve all of the puzzles in order, which I liked. You have unlimited hints, and the puzzlemaster sometimes just gives you hints if it seems like you are stuck. One unlocking mechanism malfunctioned while we were in the room, so the puzzlemaster had to kick us out for a minute and fix it. The ending (no spoilers!) felt somewhat anticlimatic. But all-in-all it was pretty fun. There are not all that many escape rooms in Northern Jersey, so we will likely be back to try the other rooms.
