So I decided to go and check this place out. It had just opened and I want to see what it was all…read moreabout. I walk in, I was greeted by the bouncer who by the way was a very nice guy. I proceeded to check the place out and decided to approach the bar. I ordered a drink and apparently the bartender made the wrong type of drink. I then waited there for about 12 minutes to try to get a hold of the waitress. Finally when she saw that I was trying to get a hold of her she asked me what I wanted and I explained to her my problem. She stated that it wasn't her problem and that I would have to pay for a new drink. Meanwhile the drink was right in front of me untouched and she still want me to buy another drink. I personally have never in my life had this type of experience. I asked her if I would be able to speak to the manager. The manager on duty was behind the bar. I was told that he would talk to me when he had a chance. He actually never came over to introduce himself. He ac never came over at all. I spent the rest of my night which was only another hour giving the place a second chance. No manager ever came by and left the worst taste in my mouth. I would never go to this place again. Any type of new business that can care less about the customer experience does not deserve my business or anyones for that matter. I will continue giving my business to other places that actually appreciate my presence and have customer loyalty.

Needless to say, the party didn't take place due to Covid-19. Upon checking our bank account we determined that XO Private Functions cashed our check on 3/6/20 which was the day after we were there and one month before the party!! With Gov. Murphy's restrictions still in place we contacted XO Functions and spoke with the owner. She indicated to us that she spent our deposit and does not have our money. What???!!!! A deposit is supposed to be attached to a contract not cashed the next day. They repeatedly ignore our calls and requests for our deposit to be returned.

Service was quick and attentive, and we did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy a pleasant time chatting. Drinks: the black walnut Manhattan, Fig jam old fashioned, wine , beer and port. Drinks were all excellent, i tasted the Manhattan and enjoyed it over the Fig Jam. For apps: Clams oreganato (the couple with us enjoyed this), flat bread (was much more like pizza than flat bread, but still tasty, per my husband), and on the special New England Clam Chowder which was very good, not too thick and decent and fresh clams in it. Entrees: Shrimp Risotto scampi, very flavorful Risotto cooked perfectly. Two of us ordered the Cajun Mahi Mahi, over spinach with mashed, and 2 shrimp. the Cajun sauce was tasty with the perfect amount of heat, shrimp and mahi-mahi fresh and cooked perfectly. Rigatoni Bolognese which my husband enjoyed and said it was almost as good as my Italian mother's (like a good son-in-law) lol Dessert: Crème Brûlée - Brûlée was perfect, the crème was a little too thick for me. I ate it and enjoyed it, but not the best I've had. My husband ordered the key Lime Pie happy that it did not include nuts in the crust as some do, he thought it was good. Overall we had an enjoyable albeit pricy meal with good service. I would come back if other's wanted to go but it would not be my go to place.

He immediately started barking at us about how we had made a reservation for four adults and one child, and that we would have to pay full price for the fourth adult which was $80 who did not show up. When we were seated, I had already apologized to the server that the fourth person could not make it, and the server -- who had otherwise been wonderful -- politely told us it was fine. I really thought this won't be a big deal like other establishments that are even more high end. I later learned that the individual's name was Tom. Describing his behavior as merely rude would be an understatement; his conduct was obnoxious, unprofessional, and unnecessarily aggressive. First, being charged the full $80 price for a guest who did not attend was extremely shocking and disappointing. More concerning, however, was the manner in which Tom approached and addressed us. In all my years of dining out, I have never experienced such poor service or such an inappropriate attitude from restaurant staff. Although I was eventually provided with containers to pack some food to take home, the entire experience left me feeling deeply insulted and completely ruined what was meant to be a special Mother's Day dinner. This Tom, who I was told aa a manger lacks a professionalism to be a qualified one. He needs a major attitude change.

Before heading over, we were actually about to buy tickets online since we saw there were still open time slots available on the website. Because we were so close by, we decided to just purchase in person instead. When we arrived, we were told they were completely sold out. This was surprising, especially since the website was still showing availability. I mentioned this to the associate at the register and explained that it was odd because there were open slots online. I said, "I would just go ahead and book it online instead. Thank you." At that point, it felt like she just didn't want to help us purchase a time slot but rather a membership for whatever reason. What was most frustrating was having to step aside and purchase the tickets online ourselves when the associate could have easily assisted us at the register. It felt unnecessary and inconvenient. We enjoy bringing our kids here, but this experience left us feeling disappointed. I'm not against businesses promoting memberships I completely understand that part. I work in retail all my life. However, I am against being told there are no available slots if that isn't accurate, especially if it creates pressure to purchase a membership instead. Transparency with customers goes a long way, and that's all we were expecting.
