So we came here with high hopes. Major horror and halloween enthusiasts. Been to tons of escape rooms and plenty of haunted attractions. Spent $154 for 2 people and did the following:
First off, we arrived 5 minutes early for a 6pm escape room appointment but were told we had to wait for other ppl to show up who were doing the room with us. meanwhile, a group of 6 arrived to do the tomb and were accommodated first, even though they arrived after us. So after waiting for 25 minutes (in the cold, with no seating), we were finally let in, even though no one else showed up. what a waste of my time! However, we were told that they wouldn't make us wait for the other 2 escape rooms we booked, so that was nice.(but guess what? they lied, and made us wait on line for every damn thing, and each time the girl would say yeah, i'll get you in without waiting and then she'd make us wait. plus, there was another group who arrived AFTER we did, who also did a bunch of escape rooms, so they were told they'd get a fast pass for the asylum as a courtesy, and when i asked about extending that same courtesy to us, she said no, she can't do that....meanwhile we waited for 25 minutes already for NO reason!) TIP to the company: professional companies accommodate their patrons and actually promptly start escape rooms and if you are late, you just have to join in late, wherever the others are up to at that point. that's how these things work.
ROOM 1408 (0 stars)
Horrible. Nothing makes sense bc it doesn't follow a coherent order. It's just random clues that have nothing to do with each other and you would't know what to do unless you were told what to do bc they don't follow each other in a way that makes sense. there are no riddles or puzzles. nothing really challenging where you use brain power. it's literally just luck. how stupid. the only part of this activity that was fun was the last 5 minutes. also, their devices don't function properly... so i'd ask for a clue, only to find out i already did that and it just didn't work. it's also very difficult to hear any clues being given or anything within the escape room that you need to hear bc the set up is like an open stage set at a studio so there are no ceilings and all of the other escape rooms are simultaneously going on, so you can hear literally everything: the clues for you and other ppl, other ppl laughing and talking, sound effects from other rooms, etc. Also, the rooms themselves give you nothing to work with. it's literally only one clue per room. so boring and not challenging, just frustrating, thinking what the hell did i spend my money on?
BOMB SQUAD (0 stars)
this was our first 5 minute escape room. prior to this, we've only done 1 hr escape rooms. only $5 online so thought why not? well... yet again, there's no way you can figure this out unless they tell u specifically what to do and even then there's stuff you'll miss. we had no idea what was going on or where to even begin and then before we even had a chance to fully assess the situation...boom! times up!
THE DEVICE (1 star)
the star was given here bc we thought the lady who brought us to this room was very professional, thorough and concise. (previous lady talked a lot about nothing and was like a fake nice) also bc we love Saw... which is what caught my attention about this escape room to begin with online. this was relatively easy to solve, but that's also bc they pretty much told us what to do, so where's the fun in that?
ASYLUM/TUNNEL (4 stars)
this is the only thing worth seeing here. the tunnel was cool, i wasn't expecting that. i had already been to a different venue that does this so it was pretty much the same. however, they put u in groups of 5, with strangers...don't like that, i wanna experience it alone--like just with my ppl, other ppl may ruin the experience for me... and you only get 2 guns. what a rip off--- each person should get a gun. plus only one gun has a light so the rest of the group is literally in the dark and can't see a thing. so all 5 people pay the same price but the people with the guns have a different experience. unfair. Then the asylum was a typical haunted house. good actors and props. beware you may trip, there are some small steps that you can't see. we enjoyed this. the asylum was the best part. also, the actors on the waiting lines were also great. props to them!
The addition of escape rooms was a smart idea since it's been very popular lately. However, perhaps they should've attended a room or 2 themselves first, bc they clearly have NO IDEA what the hell they're doing! Very unfortunate bc this could be a big money maker for them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! (on the escape rooms) We completed our "fun filled" evening at 930. so 3.5 hrs, and about 90 minutes was spent actually doing something. that means 2 hrs of waiting, mostly for crappy experiences. we travelled 2 hrs to get there, so i doubt we'll ever go back but if we do, we'd only go for the asylum/tunnel... read more
