This restaurant is located inside the Hyatt, where I was staying for a conference. Breakfast options in this neighborhood are slim, so I ate here twice- once by myself and the other time with colleagues. The first morning I ate here, the server was super nice and attentive. I ate the migas scramble. The flavor was great and I liked it enough to eat it twice during my stay. That being said, at $19, it's expensive for the portion size. One colleague ate the French toast. He said there was too much berry compote but otherwise enjoyed it. My other colleague ordered the Bridgetown breakfast and did not care for the potatoes. The second time I ate here, the server was less attentive and not as friendly. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated, clean, and open with plenty of natural light. Would return if I'm eating on my employer's dime. On my own dime with more time and energy to spare, I'd find a more reasonably priced breakfast.

They arrived on time and, even though they were unexpectedly shorthanded on the day of our event, Mike arrived promptly at the designated time, set everything up all by himself, made sure the food was hot, stocked, and nicely presented, and left everything clean and tidy when finished. Their pricing was extremely fair, and their quote was actually lower than any of the other caterers we looked at. Through no fault of Mississippi Delta, we ran low on food before all of our work force had made it to the cafeteria, so there was very little left for our night shift which started at 4:00PM. We were more than prepared to pick up an alternative BBQ selection at a local restaurant, but Mike insisted on returning to their facility, picking up more trays of food, and bringing everything back just in time for the night crew to be able to have dinner before starting their shift. The icing on the cake was that they didn't even charge us for the extra food. We will absolutely use them again the next time we have a BBQ lunch. Everyone enjoyed it and we have received nothing but compliments about all of it. I'm only sorry we didn't take photos to show how nice it was.

Pictured is a "half pound of brisket" for $23.00 and 60%-70% of it is just inedible fat! What was edible (3.4 ounces), was honestly disgusting and looks nothing like the photos they show online, as you can see for yourself. $11.00 for a cup of sour smelling banana pudding that was immediately tossed in the trash. $4.00 for a "chicken breast" that was literally 2 bites... This is the second and last time we will ever order from them again. I have never been more disappointed in an order of food in my entire life. We spent over $70 for the brisket as shown, a small salad with 2 bites of chicken, soggy coleslaw and sour banana pudding. Beyond unacceptable! Never again and truly hope this saves someone else from the disappointment that Reverend's BBQ truly is. Complete waste of money! Edit: It has been about 45 minutes since I ate what little of the brisket that was actually meat and not just fat, and I am extremely nauseous. Not worth the money, disappointment or naseau. Just looking at the photo alone, I wonder why I even tried eating it. Absolutely disgusting.

The the combination of smoky, tender barbecue with the creamy Thai curry was so good. The burnt ends brought that deep, savory, slightly charred flavor, while the curry gave it a completely different dimension. The flavors worked well. I just wished the burnt ends were more fatty. We also tried a pork belly dish, which was another highlight. The pork was rich and flavorful, and I loved the crispy fried egg, green beans, cucumber, and fish sauce with it. If you're visiting Portland and want something playful and different, Eem is absolutely worth checking out!

Drinks: I cannot handle day drinking anymore, but I couldn't resist... - Acid test: bourbon based - Separation anxiety: rum based, tiki; I was hesitant about the lychee (not a fan), but it was very well balanced. This was my preferred cocktail Food: family style - Sweet and sour chicken: even the small was a big portion. Flavor was great on this, and it had a crisp, crunchy batter - Wok fried yu choy: great wok char - Smoked pork krapao: crispy pork belly pieces, a fried poached egg (literally deep fried). Break up the yolk to dip with the pork. The cucumbers and green beans are a nice clean accompaniment; spicy fish sauce was great - White curry with brisket burnt ends: I've never had a white curry, but the white curry and cauliflower was a great match for the super rich brisket pieces. I love the interesting combination! Note: pretty much everything has some spice to it, so for kids, the jasmine rice and yu choy are the main items, though my older daughter did ok with the fried chicken and brisket! Music was great, and all of the food flavors were bold. Though flavor combinations were unique, everything was cohesive. They were packed on a Wednesday for lunch, so I'm glad we got here before noon to snag a table. I wish the Bay Area had more interesting fusion done right like this (I feel like fusion is a bad word in the food world...)

Truly, as impressive as the menu is here, the real secret ingredient is Uncle Earl, himself. His larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh, and genuine hospitality create an experience that feels like visiting an old friend rather than a neighborhood food cart. I settled on The Arnold: a half pound of brisket with a side of mac n cheese and a corn muffin. There are a number of sides to choose from, but the mac sounded appealing to me. Indeed, it was very rich and satisfying, but the meat is why people flock to this food cart! Tender, sweet and salty, and oh, so delicious; this is the barbecue I've been missing in my life! I love supporting businesses that embrace community, and Uncle Earl's manages to do that very well. Just take a look at these reviews and you'll find it very clear folks here go out of their way to make sure customers have a positive experience and enjoy their food. What more can you ask for?
