    American breakfast
    Emiko T.

Came in early before a conference, they gave a variety of plates I went for a traditional American breakfast. Was a great choice came with eggs, toast, potato's, bacon and your choice of coffee, server was excellent. Not a lot of people when I came in but definitely worth it. My plate was 20.00 as the morning continued it began to fill up. Ambiance is nice, lots of low lighting, great place to meet up.

As a late night hotel dinner option, this was quite good! Service was a little slow but not too bad. It would be nice if they had a section of the bar for ordering so when it's busy but people are just hovering at the bar ordering or reviewing the food menu, other people can sit as there is very limited seating available.

We went to Mayrose and had a wonderful experience! Located inside the Duniway Hotel in Downtown Portland, the ambience is stylish and inviting, and the service was friendly throughout. I ordered the Cheese Tortellini pasta and french fries, and both were really good. The tortellini was flavorful and well-cooked, with basil‑hazelnut pesto cream, fennel, blistered tomatoes, arugula, and Parmesan, and the chips were perfectly crisp and seasoned. The rest of the menu looked interesting as well, and the overall presentation and vibe made the meal enjoyable. Prices felt reasonable for the setting, and it's a great spot for a celebration.

Cozy restaurant connected to the Duniway hotel, since we got in on Friday night we checked it out. My son ordered the $50 pre fixed dinner and I had the lamb shank. I ordered the flower sour with yuzu flavor was very yummy. My son raved about his mushrooms soup, but his confit chicken was pretty dry. My lamb shank in the other hand was moist and flavorful. The portion was good as well. The service was pretty attentive and if we stay in this hotel, I'd love to try other dishes.

One of the nicer hotel restaurants I am aware of, but of course given it is in a hotel, you are paying quite a premium. I dined here for dinner and breakfast, and I would say go for dinner as the breakfast is a bit rip off with laughable portions, so it evens out to a 4 star rating overall. Dinner was definitely busier than breakfast. You get people not staying at the hotel just to try this restaurant, which speaks volumes of the quality comparatively. We went on a Saturday dinner and couldn't get seated immediately - they made a reservation for us 40 min later at 7pm and only then were we able to be accommodated. We got one 3-course menu for $55 (the $5 surcharge coming from our choice to get the crispy skin salmon) with warm spinach dip and almond thyme olive oil cake, which is a better value than ordering each dish a la carte, plus a Moroccan braised lamb shank entree, which is more than enough food for 2 people. I liked the warm spinach dip - very creamy and hearty, paired with nicely baked bread on the side. The salmon is solid, nothing memorable but it was Asian inspired flavors and delicious. The lamb shank has really good meat texture and the couscous added an additional texture to the dish that I enjoyed. The olive oil cake was just the right amount of sweetness. Service was good. Breakfast we ordered the chicken and waffles, 1 buttermilk pancake add chocolate, and the Duniway (dungeness crab omelette with brie). The chicken and waffles were a laughable quantity - 1 small piece of chicken with 1 small piece of sugary waffle. The chicken, I have to give them credit, was really juicy and flavorful, a bit on the saltier side. I wished it was a larger quantity for $22. The Duniway was decent - lots of brie and egg but not much crab. With nothing on the side, $25 is really steep. The buttermilk pancakes are good though - $5 for 1 and you can add toppings for $1 each and I am glad you can do this on the side as opposed to committing to 3 pancakes for $15 in the entrees. Service here is still good as they gave water refills and checked up on us regularly. Drinks-wise the prices are a little high at $18-20 for most cocktails, but the quality is decent. I would skip cocktails here and focus more on dining during dinner time for the most enjoyable experience. I am glad to have experienced both meal services thanks to the Amex FHR and Hilton status food credit and breakfast credits, as I would not give this place a try on first thought due to relatively high prices with respect to neighboring restaurants.

The vibes and the decor are the best part of this place! So much unique stuff to look at. We had breakfast and it was pretty good. I had a frittata and coffee. It was a pretty basic breakfast. Eggs and veggies were fresh but it could have used a little more seasoning. Our server was very friendly and everything came out quick.

While staying at the Duniway in Portland, I decided to have dinner at Mayrose, the hotel's on-site restaurant. The space is modern and stylish, and the vibe is relaxed. I ordered the Chicken Breast Confit, which came with citrus-thyme sweet potato mash, chicken jus, and frisée. The dish had potential, but unfortunately, the flavors and textures didn't quite come together. The chicken was served with the jus poured directly over it, which left the skin soggy rather than crisp which was something I was really looking forward to in a confit preparation. The jus itself was fine, but didn't bring much complexity. The sweet potato mash was smooth but fairly basic, and the frisée felt like an afterthought, almost more of a garnish than a flavorful, integrated part of the dish. While the service was warm and the convenience of dining in was appreciated, the overall experience didn't feel worth the price point. For the quality and creativity of the dish, I expected a bit more. Not a bad meal, but not something I'd go out of my way for.

Good selection of options for breakfast. It was pretty during breakfast. I order the biscuit sliders and my was good. I especially enjoyed the marionberry jam.

Stayed at the Duniway so it was just convenient to eat here daily. Everything was delicious and the service was on par with my hotel stay.

Nice space to drop in for a pretty well made drink. I met up with a friend staying at the hotel and we were pretty amazed how full it was on a Tuesday. Love the light levels and I think I was seeing people using their wi-fi sitting in their lounge, likely hotel guests.

To start the restaurant was very nice and elegant. The food was expertly prepared. Salmon was perfectly cooked. It was an experience. The desert which I don't often eat, was amazing. Very creamy and rich, without dairy. All of the team members were very professional. Just amazing to have servers with great personalities. Also, some nice little touches. When silverware was brought out for the courses, they used Woden trays that were covered with velvet. Nice touch. Price was very reasonable. Definitely return if in the area.

Service was excellent. My companion thought the salad was a bit tart for his tastebuds. We had the quinoa and kale salad and it was very vinegary. He said it needed more fat like olive oil or sweetness with craisins or apple. The dessert was good. Probably the better of the two dishes. Smaller than I thought but it least it tasted good. It seems they cater to folks who go to the theater. They have a special set menu for those folks. The place is eclectic and moody with dark lighting. Bathrooms are clean.

    Artichoke paella
    Alvin L.

Super laid back atmosphere - the Christmas Trees were out as well which made it super homey Jason served as on this night and was 5 star. Super friendly and inviting. We had the salmon, artichoke Paella, and the kids had the chicken fingers with fries. Salmon was excellent - salmon skin was crispy and the dish came with a nice ginger vinaigrette dressing for the greens and quinoa. Wife had the artichoke paella and enjoyed it. I tried my daughter's chicken fingers and fried as well and it was lightly battered and crispy (really good quality). Overall - great environment, friendly service, and the dessert (bread pudding is a must if it's on the menu). Highly recommend if you are in the area / staying at the Duniway.

We were seated right away, wherever we wanted. I picked a shady indoor spot booth. I'm not sure, if it's the right booth, I then realized, they have the swings, by the window facing Burnside. I wanted to move, but hubby won't! No matter how much I begged, he ain't movin'. Then, I said: 'the music here is too loud.' His answer? 'There's always something!' So I stayed. I checked out the Patio. It might work, for the group. At least, there's one of us, who love alcohol. That may give them a reason to come. (She's driving the rest of the group). Since we are heading to an event, not far from here, we didn't have much time to take leftovers home, we didn't have a cooler, it's almost 80 degrees out, so we decided to eat something we could share. We picked the BBQ COHO Salmon Sandwich. Seared Coho salmon glazed with Bourbon BBQ sauce topped with baby Aragula and pickled red onions on a Portland French toasted potato bun. We came here because I heard they have a great seafood menu and my kids recently started enjoying oysters and other shellfish that used to be "gross". We got here about 15 minutes to opening on a Friday night and there was already a line. We were fortunate to still get a spot outside which worked out because it wasn't too hot and the outdoor space is much more spread out than inside. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. Love their various droppers with infused mignottes and hot sauces. Really made it fun to try out different combos. We also got the cold smoked mussels, the hamachi crudo, grilled oysters, lobster roll, rockfish, and the little gem salad. In order of least favorite to favorite, the little gem salad was good but just not that memorable or spetqcular the way the other dishes were. Next, the grilled oysters were flavorful with the garlic and lime but I wished there was a little more kimchi flavor and overall more sauce given the size of the oysters (they were huge!). The lobster roll was good and I appreciated the different take on a lobster roll but my favorite lobster rolls that really accentuate the lobster flavor and this masked it a little. The hamachi crudo was a surprise. It's a dish you see a lot and I was a little worried about how the pineapple might overtake the rest of the flavors but that didn't happen. The balance between sweet, savory, sour, and crunch from the peanuts was perfect and every bite was really enjoyable. Finally, my favorite was the cold smoked mussels. You never know how fish sauce and tom kha might overwhelm everything but again, their chef understands flavor balance really well. You could taste all the flavors, the smokiness, the slight bitter and sour umami flavors and slight sweetness to round it out. It was outstanding and highly recommend. They also have great cocktails that go well with their dishes. Really enjoyed the experience here and will definitely come back.
