Honestly thought this place wasn't real lol. I kept seeing it pop up when I would look for nearby lunch spots and I found this hidden gem. It's a perfect little cafe tucked away and the food is actually pretty good! I would definitely recommend this place if you have any work nearby.

Had a really delicious lunch here with the J Club (gluten free version) without the relish since it was described as sweet. The bread was smaller but had nice texture, had seeds, didn't fall apart and the sandwich was well proportioned with ingredients. Side of chips and salad was delicious as well.

Cute cafe. Really close to where I was staying. About a 5min walk. I couldn't decide between the capini or the rose garden panini. I ordered the rose garden & now I wished I ordered the Capini. The rose garden tasted like a pizza to me. It was ok. I only ate half of it. The tomato basil soup was good. The panini comes with a side salad, soup or chips for $13.99. There is a 3% charge for credit card. Staff were friendly. Cute cafe. It was busy but only 1 person ahead of me.

Had a great chai latte here. The line was quite long, so I figured it was going to be a good spot!

The paninis were actually pretty good. They had lots of cheese and the bread was toasted nicely--very crispy. We came in at 10:58AM and were able to order off of the breakfast menu. Water stations were self serve, which I appreciated because I drink a lot of water. The cashier bussed our table, which was nice. Overall, not a bad place!

I was in Portland for a conference and I have to tell you that J Cafe is a hidden gem. I ended up going three times for lunch while I was there. Having some unique food allergies can make eating out a challenge. I ended up getting a grilled cheese and would add bacon to it on sourdough bread. It was really good. You can tell that the owner really cares about his patrons and puts a lot of effort love into his product. I can see what was packed each day I came to eat. I loved the decor and intimate seating that was available. If in Portland, definitely check J Cafe out!

Quick Service. Clean restaurant. Beautifully made latte that tasted great. I also got the Belmont breakfast panini. 100% would get it again.

Excellent food and service. every. single time. One of my absolute go to places for early morning breakfast in Portland. The owner is nice, the coffee is delicious and the paninis are delicious! Keep up the great work, J Cafe!

The paninis are sooo good! I had the Capini not once but twice in one week while visiting Portland for a conference. This spot is just a short walk from the convention center, and a great spot to pick up some breakfast or lunch. It's small inside, but there are a number of tables in there for dining in. It's currently only open during the week until 2pm, so be sure to check the hours before you head over!

Great service and wonderfully cooked food but too busy Ed - fluffy egg that fits the long bread, a few slices of prosciutto that was delectible, basil, pesto (mmmm), and provoline - this was a perfect balance of all the ingredients, one would think more prosciutto would be good but it was perfect. It's a small place and can be insanely busy at lunch, especially if a conference is going on, but it's sooooo goood

We were in Portland for a few days and found this café close to our hotel. The coffee was fabulous, the food was prepared fresh and everything was delicious. Service was awesome. My sister and I were sharing the bagel so they split it for us and served it open face. I loved the Umbria coffee they served. We enjoyed our visit so much we went back the next morning. With so many food choices in Portland, it says a lot to go back to the same place twice.

As I placed my order the options were in front of me along with food options. I settled down and got a latte with hazelnut and a bagel with cream cheese. I had looked in the back area to sit but I realized it was subtle outdoor seating. Kinda cute but I'm from Hawaii so I was honestly too cold. I underestimated the table I sat on, I assumed my binder was going to take up the entire space, but I actually had space for my food, coffee, binder and my laptop. While doing my homework there were other people getting things done along side parents planning their kids spring break. A lot of customers that came in seemed familiar and happy going inside and chatting with the two gals handling the bar. It felt like I was watching an episode of some sort of show for a second sort of like "how I met your mother. " Great vibes, nice workers, good and affordable coffee with affordable food, like, seriously affordable. I've seen bagels cost $7 where I'm from and that's without cream cheese. Haha.

I got their double matcha latte, which is matcha topped with a foam. It came with oat milk by default which wouldn't typically be my choice, but it was great and I didn't really notice any difference. I loved the double matcha flavor. Staff and service were great. They were clearly very busy, as these drinks take a bit more preparation than a pour and go. It is really fun to watch them make the drinks. They went out of their way to check in with me on something which was very appreciated. The shop is located on NE 28th, a very happening part of town. They don't have big signs out front so it might be easy to miss. It's a small store with 3-4 tables and a small couch. I recommend taking your drink to-go and walking around the neighborhood or to Laurelhurst!

Their menu selection is small, but each drink is well curated and delicious. Yunomi offers a small work area with 3 tables and a countertop space, but if those tables are taken you are out of luck :(. So far, I have tried their banana hojicha, black sesame hojicha, double matcha, jasmine matcha, and oolong matcha. Of all the drinks, I recommend getting the double matcha- creamy, not too sweet, perfect taste of matcha in one drink. Yes, the cups are small, but for me the quality overrides the size (plus I am a sipper not a chugger so it works out). I'm not sure why Yunomi doesn't have the crowd or the rush as some other matcha places in the PDX area have, but I am not complaining because that means more delicious matcha and good street parking spots for me! Highly recommend visiting Yunomi for a sweet treat if you are in the area!
