Sofia is truly an expert at wedding dress alterations; she does work of the highest quality and efficiency. My dress is a bohemian/vintage style with lots of lace embroidery; when I purchased it at the store, the top was too big for me and the bottom was too long but it was exactly the dress that I was looking for so I knew I had to take it to an expert. Sofia paid attention to all the nitty, gritty details of the dress and made sure that all of the alterations were perfect right down to every detail; she made sure that the dress perfectly fit my body type. She was also flexible and patient enough to work with what I wanted out of the dress, gave me any input that was needed, and she worked within my budget. As an added bonus, Sofia was creative enough to take the extra material from the bottom of my dress and turn it into a scarf that matches my dress; this demonstrated to me that she was willing to go above and beyond, it showed her creativity and her expertise to take any material and turn it into something beautiful and useful, and I really appreciate that she does not like to waste anything. When I bought my wedding dress, the top was (from waist up) bigger. I usually have this problem with dresses and it is hard to find a snag fit for the upper body as I have a very petite upper body, from waist to the bust. I had learnt about Sofia thru some of my Carlsbad friends. They knew Sofia from years ago when she had her Alteration business in downtown Carlsbad and spoke highly of her impeccable work. I called her, took my wedding dress to her and in a matter of minutes she had already understood perfectly what the dress needed to be done in order to have a 'perfect fit'. There was no second doubt that she was a professional and no doubt that there were many years of experience behind her. The dress had different layers (French lace) it seemed for my little understanding on alterations that it could be a challenge to alter the top of the dress. Sofia didn't seem to find a challenge in it :) . She was easy going, kind, and most importantly she assure me perfect results which after spending a lot of money in the dress made me leave her place at peace and I was able to relax on the days forward. I found Sofia's number listed in the yellow pages back in 2006 when I was looking for someone to do affordable alterations for a prom dress for my daughter. The dress needed to be hemmed and altered in the waist. It was a beaded dress and I had no idea how she was going to be able to complete it without destroying the dress. She did an outstanding job! Absolutely perfect!! Since then she has altered many items for me such as jeans, a swim suit, and many different styles of formal dresses for both me and my daughter. Sofia is amazing! She is very easy to communicate with and has no problem working around your schedule for fittings. She explains everything she is going to do with the dress before she makes any alterations. She is willing to work with you up until the wedding and will keep making adjustments until every detail is perfect! She advised me to try on the dress a week before I leave for my wedding and if the dress doesn't fit properly (like if I lose anymore weight) to let her know and she will make any alterations needed. I really appreciated that because even though I have already paid, she will take the time to make sure the dress is perfect before I leave. I have a chiffon bridesmaid dress with many petals at the hem and because I am quite pregnant the dress required lots of alterations. She is careful and particular about her work, doing alterations in stages if necessary (e.g. only hemming once the bodice was sitting correctly). Sofia did such a beautiful job with my dress. I ordered it from China and after waiting several months for it to arrive, when I finally got it in the mail it was probably four sizes too big and a foot too long. I didn't dare send it back to have them fix it, so I ended up coming to Sofia.
