One of my coworkers told me about Kathy's Tailoring. The tailor I'm assuming is Kathy was super nice and friendly. She listened to how my daughter wanted the bottom of the her dress. She charged us $145.00. And had it done in about a week. My daughter couldn't be more happy with how her dress came out. I will definitely be back if I ever have something that needs to be tailored. I brought in a stuffed football that means a lot to me -- my grandfather gave it to me, and the San Francisco 49ers patch had come loose. I wanted to fix it up so I can eventually pass it down to my son as a fun little family heirloom. They were happy to take on the job, even though it's not exactly a typical tailoring request. The patch was reattached really well and looks great. You can tell they handled it with care, which I really appreciated given the sentimental value. I had a really disappointing experience with this tailor. I came in last minute needing help with my outfit, and instead of being upfront or reasonable, they completely took advantage of the situation. I was charged $100 just to adjust my vest and another $100 just to hem the waist and pant leg of my suit which feels extremely excessive for such basic alterations. I understand rush jobs can cost more, but this felt far beyond fair pricing and honestly pretty exploitative. There was no transparency or effort to work with me -- just a steep bill when I had no other option. The work itself was fine, but the pricing left a really bad impression. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you're in a time crunch. It felt more like they were capitalizing on urgency than providing honest service. I sent two sweatshirts to have the bands reattached. I'd taken them off, cut the shirts to the length I wanted, and attached a note to them. she couldn't figure out what to do!! My husband brought them home and I pinned one band back on and the ends of the other band so she could see how the side slits would come together. She had quoted $30 for each shirt which was ridiculously high. She ended up charging me $40 per shirt!! I've sent her a ton of business but will NEVER give her anything now. All she did was serge the bands back on after I'd done ALL THE WORK. Totally got ripped off. read more

I've found that in order to get exactly what you're wanting you HAVE to try them on in store and have them pin your pants where you want them, not just tell them how much you want off or your normal inseam. Dropped off a bridesmaid dress for hemming and a take in the shoulders. Prices were ridiculously high, more than I paid for the dress. When I picked up the dress, the work was fine but there were 2 stains on the front and the owner said she told me about the stains when I dropped it off. Was completely not true. The tags were still on the dress and had never been worn except in her shop. They did "clean" the spots but didn't even press the dress. Hello, I have been going to Kathy's tailoring for a few years now!!! they've done all sorts of things for me from bridesmaids/wedding dresses, taking in jeans/ shirts in for me!! I'm about to visit to have my military ball gown hemmed! I would not use this merchant again. I brought two items in, one repair and one that needed a snap. I got a lot of attitude from the owner--almost like why are you even bothering with this? As well as allusions to my weight. I picked up my items without trying them on because I wanted to avoid further comments. I just tried them on and 1) the repair was done in such a way that the item no longer fits, and 2) the snap was installed in the wrong spot and looks awful. I'm not sure what to do now--I spent over $100 so I would like to address these issues, but I also don't want to have to interact with the owner again and I'm short on time before a move. I will likely just eat the cost of this transaction but wanted to make sure to warn others that the quality here may not be what you're looking for, and that you may not be treated well either. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had dealing with any type of services. If the service for Kathy's Taylor was free I still wouldn't take my clothing there. First and foremost the prices are outrageous. I took two pair of pants there to have them tapered The price that they quoted oh my God. $75.00 per pants to have them tapered. Because I really like these pants and they fit me well they all they needed was to be tapered so I agreed to the price. I picked the pants up the next day did not try them on until I got home. I'm 6/5. The pants were cut 3 in too short. After returning and explaining to them the mistake or what happened. The husband tried to explain to me that that's the way I asked him to cut him which was a lie. After going back and forth for 10 minutes. I also have my parents replaced or have a refund. I was told no and the pants were cut the way I asked them. I explain to them there is no way I would ask them to cut the pants 3 in short. The husband continue to argue with me and accuse me of lying on the way I wanted to pass cut. I asked them to replace the pants or refund me and was told no and to leave their store. Do not go to this place for any reason to have any work done I will not let this die after spending $150 with them. read more

I did not actually get the opportunity to use this business. I brought 2 suit coats in to have the sleeves shortened. I am short, so I need every single piece of clothing tailored in some way. I have learned to live with inconveniences and added expense. I brought in the coats. I did not even try them on and was told they would be 65 dollars per jacket just for sleeves. This is outrageous. Again, I know tailoring costs at local tailors. This 50 to 75% higher than most. I understand the work is good and for that would pay, but I have had fine tailoring for about the same that was from world class tailors and included additional adjustments to the suits, nit just small length adjustment. The owner was not very polite either. At least when delivering high price quotes you could show a small ounce of customer orientation. Suffice to say, I will not patronize this business. I wish them well and maybe they do great as some will just pay an extreme price. read more

I used to come here all the time and had always had a good experience but recently I had issues. I used to find this place to do good quality work at reasonable prices. I bought a shirt I wanted three buttons added to it, Kathy wanted to charge $45 for this work which is absolutely absurd. Sewing machines have automatic button hole features and the buttons are low cost! I was floored, and she wouldn't budge. I found a place to add three buttons to my shirt for $10, and it looks great; I'll be taking my business there. I gave Kathy a generous three stars because previously she was great, and I'm disappointed to see her take such a hard stand on a few buttons which permanently lost my business. It's a shame. My family and I have been going to her and her husband for years. Great customer service. Kind people who do amazing work. Not only do they tailor all types of clothing, they also add zippers to purses. I purchased a handmade crochet purse from Etsy and wanted to add a zipper to it. They did so and it looked amazing! What horrible place, Bought a couple of jackets at the local mail, came in to this place, older guy with smoking stanch to him immediately approached me, explained I just needed small adjustment in the bottom shoulder section He looks at me and tells me "it's going to cost you $180" This was a brand name jacket, cheaper/below the price he was asking me, he didn't bother to do any measurement whatsoever, didn't want to hear what I had to say to him The place I bought this from had suggested this place I went back to them and returned the stuff and suggested not tell people about this place, they were upset to say the least They really don't give a crap about you read more

She told me to come in so I drove over to her and was told that my pants to hem ( shein 13$ pants) was going to coast me 50$ and to fix a zipper on old jeans was 45$!!!!! After a quote to hem a dress and get the straps tightened ($135) I immediately took my dress to the Plaza Del Oro dry cleaner next to Albertsons and they quoted me 1/3 of the price and it was great quality and held up all night. While Kathy's Tailoring may have had a similar outcome, their prices were not justified for the work being done. I would have loved to support the small business but unfortunately the prices were outrageous. read more

Most of their 5 stars are from way back when she didn't overcharge. I'm pretty sure this place will start to lose a lot of business due to the overcharging. I have been coming here for the last 5 years and have always been happy with the work and prices until recently in the last few years. My biggest complaint is how much she's charging -$55 per pants to be tapered?! $18 to be hemmed?! If you bring in a handful of pants no type of discount or anything? I can't justify the $55 price to fix a pair $25 pants anymore. It's costing way too much here and sadly I won't be coming back. Had a number of things tailored here in the last several months. They do excellent work. I have been really happy with how they tailored several shirts (sleeve length and body width) as well as the hem work done on several pairs of denim jeans.
