Lulu's Alterations Studio is an excellent place to visit if you need help hemming your clothes. I recently purchased a beautiful long orange satin dress for my friend's wedding and when it arrived in the mail it was too long for me. I visited this establishment and the employees here were very helpful, Maria and Fernando were wonderful and I was able to pick up my dress a week later on time for my friend's wedding. They are kind, polite and efficient and I will definitely be returning to this establishment! Highly recommended! read more

Got a number of jeans and pants altered here. Customer service was great, helping me to find the right length hem and taking detailed notes for services. I left a few items of clothes dry cleaned in addition to the pants. Everything was ready on time, all work was done per request. This place was less costly than what was quoted at nearby competitors. My wife called this morning to ask if she could get a dress hemmed in a 24 hour deadline for a wedding this weekend. She also told him that we would be arriving around 5 PM that day. The owner said that he could do it. When we arrived, my wife explained that she had called earlier and summarized what I've already explained. The owner immediately started talking to her in a condescending tone and looked generally annoyed by us being there. He told her, "no one else will be able to complete this hem in such a short time" and that he was "just going to overcharge us" for the alteration. This is a sweet mom and pop business and a hidden gem. Two years in a row I went in within 48 hours til my event and they were able to accommodate my request to alter my gowns and get them done in time. They are incredibly kind, talented and willing to go out of their way to do what's necessary to get the job completed in time. I'm incredibly grateful for their service and kindness. This used to be my go to place for alterations...unfortunately, now that there are new owners, I'm afraid to return. I spent $36 to have three pair of jeans hemmed. One pair, even though measured to the correct length, are way too long. And one pair is uneven...the right leg is longer than the left. I don't sew...but I would think, if someone does and they own a business that is all about sewing, they would be able to do a simple hem correctly. read more

Alteration studio and Iliana the owner or one of the best things here in Oceanside. If you are looking to get your clothes altered or repaired this is the very best place you can go. Iliana is a consummate professional and she doesn't charge a lot of money, she's also a very real person. As I am leaving Oceanside I popped in the other day and she just fixed something for me so quick and said it's your going away gift. I love Iliana she is such a real person. I know soon she'll be selling so she may only be there another year or year and a half if you get a chance get in there while she still runs the place because after that who knows. Another thing I do love about her studio is when you walk in there it has the old fashion feel like the dressmaker your parents went to who had a little corner shop at the edge of a main street in a small town at least that's what I remember in my youth, going to a wonderful older lady or maybe out of her home or out of the small shop at the edge of town that's the feeling I get with Ileana. I'm hesitant to write a poor review, but I'm very frustrated with the results of my visit. I can't in to have two jeans zippers replaced. Nowhere do they warn you that this is a cash- only establishment until you've handed over your clothing. They kept my clothing for an extra week without saying anything because the proprietor just forgot to call me. She never called me at all, I called in out of concern that it had been 2 weeks and no update on 2 pairs of jeans. Ultimately, what I paid was expensive for the work they did. I'm very tall and one of the zippers they put in was too short. The proprietor was very rude about how long the rise on my jeans is (how dare I wear pants at my waist?). Also got very rude, judgemental treatment for not being built like a stick. Now I have to take one of the pairs back in to somewhere else because that too-short zipper just came apart while I was hiking. Truly, I would recommend going somewhere else. I know this establishment has some good reviews and I went there because a local dry-cleaner recommended them but I wish I had gone to someone else to begin with. read more

NEVER WILL I DO BUSINESS HERE!!!! I would never take my clothes, or give this establishment my business. I came in for a simple measurement, an older woman, who I suspect is the owner came to take my measurements. I can assure you from the beginning was extremely rude. I asked her if she could hem or alter blouses made elsewhere and instead of a simple, yes/no answer, I received commentary like "why would you bring us something that is already measured?". I told her I suspect I'll be gaining or losing weight in the next 45 days and I'll need the tops hemmed either way. Ma'am do you want business? The measurement process itself was uncomfortable. She kept interrupting and inserting her own opinion and commentary throughout the whole process. All I needed was for her to follow the list of body areas I needed to be measured for a blouse and pants I was ordering online. I understand that prices will vary from item to item, but she just shrugged and gave around about answers. I had to interrupt her and tell her " Ma'am, you're not listening to what I need!" I'll be better off taking my clothes all the way out to LA than taking them to this establishment. Then at the end, she tells me there is a charge for measurements, which I don't mind paying, but I feel your coworkers should probably mention that right from the beginning. I told my husband to go to another alteration place for his measurements. NEVER will do business here. read more

I was in town for a wedding and needed a last minute alteration. The family that was dog sitting for me recommended Ileana. I couldn't be happier! Not only did she accept my rush order even with multiple orders already, she finished it in less than two hours after she noticed that I was still there because my car broke down! I had a bridesmaid dress that needs to be hem maybe 2 inches. I drop off the dress and when I went pick it up, she gave me a price of $80 for just the hem!!!! It was a two-layer dress a sheer as the first layer. I talk to another bridesmaid and said she had her done too and only charged her 30.00. That is a ridiculous price difference. She overcharges and takes cash only!!! Ilianna sound like a scam, don't recommend her. Find someone else reasonable in price. Feel like reporting her so she can get investigated sounds shady. read more

I took 3 pieces of clothing and they managed to ruin 2. She could not even do a straight sewing. Also, totally overpriced.

She overcharged and did a terrible job! When I showed her the obvious shortcomings of her work, instead of being contrite and trying to correct it, she became argumentative! She clearly has no real feel for men's tailoring. Sadly, there is no lower ranking than a single star! DEFINITELY would not recommend. read more
