When I say these 2 ladies were the best, I mean it!! They made my wedding dress fit like a perfect glove and made me feel so beautiful every appointment! I came to her mainly because it's very convenient to where I live and being semi new here... I didn't have a tailor to go to. So, I started simple with hemming some pants and all of the staff was friendly and did a nice easy job. So.... I gave her my prized Armani overcoat which thanks to weight loss was about 5 sizes too big. It's a very expensive cost I love and she has taken such care with it.... from fitting me twice and taking the time for as Tara says, for it to be "perfect!" I was recommended Tara Tailor by my bridal shop, and after postponing my wedding due to the pandemic, I was eager to try on my wedding gown and begin the alterations process. From the moment I stepped out of the dressing room in my gown, however, the staff was incredibly rude. Immediately telling me I needed to lose weight and asking me repeatedly what my plans were to lose weight. I am not joking, for the full 45 minutes that they were hemming my gown, they told me I needed to lose weight, that the alterations would be expensive and time-consuming if I didn't, and asking what my plans were to lose weight. I was in tears the entire time they were hemming my gown. Despite visibly sobbing, they did not read my body language or social cues, and continued asking me my plans to lose weight and telling me that my dress didn't look right. I believe that wedding dresses should be tailored to fit the bride, not the other way around. I wish the story stopped there, but unfortunately, they also recently called and left a voicemail that was several minutes long checking in to ask me if I'd lost weight. I understand that letting a dress out and alterations in general take time, but my main concern is that my wedding dress looks beautiful - regardless of the cost of the alterations. Tara Tailor ruined the experience of trying on my wedding dress for the first time in 15 months. I have since picked up my dress and have found another tailor for any additional alteration needs. read more

I had rush alterations here done on my bridesmaid dress which cost as much as the dress itself. Upon putting the dress on at the wedding, I realized they had hemmed the sheath portion of my dress unevenly, and a portion in the front of the dress was significantly longer than the rest which caused me to trip constantly throughout the evening. I initially called Tara and told her the bind I was in and asked if she was able to help me. I bought a dress two years ago that I was unable to wear and I now wanted to wear it but it was too small. I asked if she was able to convert the hidden zipper into a corset to get a few inches and she asked me to bring it in so she could see the dress and material. I brought it in to her the same day and I tried it on for her, it did not zip all the way. The zipper started at my tailbone and went up a few inches above my bra strap. I was short on time and she said she could see if the dress had extra material and she can let it out. She said she would do everything she could to make it fit without having to do the corset, she said it looked great with the hidden zipper. The reason for the four stars and not five is due to the price, I had to pay before the work was done and trust she would be able to do it. Tara charged $60 for each side of the dress $120 total, non refundable. I was only going off of the reviews on yelp, so I was hoping for the best. I picked it up a few days later for a final fitting and lo and behold the dress fit!! She reconstructed the entire body of the dress from the inside out and I instantly gained two inches on each side. The tailoring cost what I would have spent on a new dress, but I was on a mission to wear this dress. The straps to the dress originally did not hang to the side, for the sake of saving money i sowed those myself and i did not have Tara hem the dress, i would have been looking at $200+ in just alterations if she had done that also. The dress was long and dragged a bit, but the event was inside. I just held on to it while walking outside. Over all I would recommend her for her work, but I would definitely shop around for cheaper and reasonable prices if office is an issue. read more

Sooo glad I came to them! The first tailor I visited had no clue what to do with my lace cathedral train wedding dress. At Tara Tailor they immediately knew what to fix so my dress would fit perfectly. After just pinning the shoulders and bust it looked 100% better and I'm not ashamed to say I almost started crying. Before coming here, the other tailor I visited said my dress couldn't be hemmed, so I'd have to wear 3 inch heels and that the only bustle that could be added, with all the lace, wouldn't actually make the train much shorter. Fitting other areas didn't even come into the question. Tara added the most beautiful bustling, and fitted the shoulders which lifted my dress so it didn't even need to be hemmed. Their standards are so high and they ensure every detail is perfect. My dress now looks just as I envisioned and fits like a glove. I promise you it is completely worth the price. read more

Very disappointed. I'm a fashion designer and contracted with Tara tailor to create gowns for my business. I paid anywhere between 300 to $600 per gown and was told that patterns were made so that when I wanted to reproduce my designs there would be no problem. For various reasons I decided to go with another tailor and went to get my patterns which I paid for and was told there were no patterns. That my patterns were thrown out. Tara is truly a lifesaver! I received my bridesmaid dress in the mail 2 weeks before my friend's wedding and it was 2 sizes too big. I live in Georgia and the wedding was in San Diego. I took my dress to a tailor in Georgia and when I picked it up it went from being 2 sizes too big to way too small. The seamstress in Georgia created a disaster. The hem was uneven, the stitching was awful, and overall it needed A LOT of work. I flew into San Diego 3 days before the wedding and Tara was able to fix this disaster of a dress in 2 days and it turned out PERFECT! So I came to this place because of all the amazing yelp reviews and the fact that my friends have come here and the tailor here did great work. I made the decision to bring my clothes here because I knew they'd be in great hands. When I came in, I had 3 dress shirts that needed to be taken in (due to recent weight loss) and so I tried one shirt one and was pinned to the right size. Since all three shirts were the same exact ones, I just needed to try one on. When I was getting fitted and pinned, I think the owner, Tara, or the assistant (I honesty don't know who was doing my in-taking but that lady opened the store doors) let out a heavy sigh and said "ohh my" like she was overwhelmed with having business in her store. This was my first red flag and made me uneasy. My second red flag experience was I got a phone call from the shop. I was told that all my dress shirts would be ready and set to be picked up on the following Monday. I said "Prefect..." since I could pick it up and have it ready for work the next day. I got a phone call and was told if I could come to pick it up not on Monday but on Wednesday! I couldn't believe what I was hearing! You told me that my clothes would be ready on Monday and I expect them to stick to the own deadline that THEY set. It is not my fault if they took on rush orders or things that needed to be done sooner and I should not have to wait. I told her I needed the clothes for work and expected them to be picked up on Monday. My last and finally thing was when I paid, the entire re-fitting came out to a total of $84!!! Whoever's reviews said this place is "super affordable"....I just don't even know how you think this crazy prices are affordable. I can't say that I won't be back. read more
